  • Setting http auth type in phpMyAdmin on Debian

    I'm trying to set-up the fresh phpMyAdmin install on my Debian 6 server to use http authentication rather than the cookie based auth that is default when it is installed. To do this, I edited the $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] line to use 'http' as its setting in /etc/phpmyadmin/config.inc.php, and restarted the server, but the setting seems to be being ignored, as when I goto phpmyadmin, it is still offering up the regular login box. I've done this twice before (once on debian and once on ubuntu), so I'm not sure why it isn't working this time. Thank you

    Besides tacking off the cmos battery, what else can I do In order to reset my BIOS to default? ATM bios access is password protected and I don't know the password anymore. On regular PC stations, there was a jumper, but where is that on a laptop mobo? Do you know any other way of resetting the bios on a laptop?

    I'm using 8.0.552.224 Chrome. Sometime, over the holidays, my bookmarklets nearly completely disappeared. The bookmarklets are present in the default screen that shows when I open a new tab. However, when I navigate away from that tab (browse further), the bookmarklets bar (usually appearing below the address field) is gone. Can anybody tell me why the bookmarklets are no longer persisteent and how to get them back

    Is there any way to use Windows 8 with time in UTC in BIOS? I know there is a way to do it in Windows 7 (in this question: Does Windows 7 support UTC as BIOS time?), but this solution makes my system unbootable. Windows expects the bios clock to be set to local time by default. In Windows 7 and before, there was a registry hack to change this behavior so that it could expect UTC – is there an equivalent in Windows 8?

  • Pin two shortcuts to same application with different settings to taskbar

    I'd like to have two shortcuts to Visual Studio on my taskbar: one with default settings and a second modified to always run as admin. I know I can manually start a copy with admin rights by right clicking on the shortcut and then right clicking on the name of the application and selecting Run as administrator...; but I'd like to automate the process when I need it (without impeding my ability to start VS without admin rights when I don't need them).

    Is it possible to have IIS (6 or 7.5) return a 404 Not Found (instead of 403 Forbidden) when a disallowed directory listing is requested? A security scanning service I use thinks the 403 is revealing something "potentially sensitive", when in fact it's just not a valid URL. My workaround is to drop a default.aspx into each directory that returns an empty 404 page, but there has to be a better way...

    I have a self hosted server with Apache2 pointed with the domain example.com. I have also some virtual servers www.example.com, cloud.examle.com, etc. This server is in my LAN, and when I try to acces to my server within the lan throw www.examle.com y get my router's configuration page. From outside the LAN www.example.com and cloud.examle.com works properly. From inside the LAN 192.168.1.33 (server internal IP) shows the default webpage (www.examle.com), but I can not get cloud.examle.com I also have a LAN name server in 192.168.1.33 with bind9. I set up my gateway 192.168.1.1 with my LAN-NS as primary NS I solve this problem creating a new dns zone in the NS. This are my config files: ;ZONE-1 $ORIGIN . $TTL 86400 ; 1 day home.lan.     I setup an wireless AP (linksys wifi router) to have no dhcp and point to the main router as the default gateway. I also set it up to obtain a ip from the network but when i go to my main router and look for it i don't see any ip's that it could be If i use net stumbler i can see the mac address of the wifi portion of it but Im at a loss how to get into the web console of this router any ideas on how to "find" this router?

    To restore an SQL Server 2008 database, I would lile to be able to just do something like this in powershell: ./restore.ps1 DatabaseName.bak Then the powershell script would by convention restore it to a database with name "DatabaseName". It would disconnect any user connected to this database so that it can restore the DB. It would store the mdf and ldf in the default location. This would mainly be while developing on my personal machine. Just a quick way to restore a DB. Anyone has such a script? Thanks

  • Nagios plugin script not working as expected

    I have modified an off-the-shelf Nagios plugin perl script to (in theory) return a one or zero according to the existence, or not, of a file on a remote linux server. The script runs a remote ssh session and logs in as the nagios user. The remote linux servers have private keys setup for that user, and on the bash command line the script works as expected, but when run as a plugin it always returns '1' (true) even if the file does not exist. Some help with the logic or a comment on why things are not working as expected within Nagios would be appreciated. I'd prefer to use this ssh login method rather than having to install nrpe on all the linux servers.   • Rename X11 input devices with hotplugging?

    Is it possible to change the X11 input device identifiers, as they are for example listed by xinput? Preferably without switching to a static xorg.conf configuration, I'm using xorg-server 1.12.4 (archlinux). I need to do that since, as it seems Blender identifies the Pen and Eraser of a graphics tablet using the hardcoded names "stylus" and "eraser" but by default the names of my tablet are prefixed with the type e.g. "Wacom Bamboo 16FG 4x5 Pen stylus".

  • YouTube music videos and playing in 480p and above

    Does anyone know how I can get YouTube to default to playing music videos in the highest possible quality setting? If for example 480p is available I’d want that automatically selected before the music starts playing. I changed the video playback option to ‘Always choose the best option for me, based on my player size.’ But the quality always defaults to 360p on page load.

  • Can I set Outlook to always Reply to All?

    This may be hidden in the options somewhere but a glance through didn't find it: Is it at all possible to set Outlook so that a click on the "Reply" button (or, as I do, hitting Ctrl-R) will always reply-to-all, rather than reply to one? Or, I suppose, a basic switch of the reply buttons so that the default is reply-to-all, and, for example, I could hit Ctrl-Shift-R instead to reply to one? It's annoying me to constantly have to hit reply-to-all when that's all I do, and I sometimes forget to do it.

I can connect to my webserver with http://127.0.0.1:8098, but when I try to connect to http://192.168.1.107:8098 from the same machine or another machine it doesn't work. How can I get this working?     I want Windows 7 to store thumbnails cache files in the same folder as the files (thumbs.db) instead of using the centralized location for all thumbnails (By default %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer). How would one achieve this effect? Alternatively, if the former is implausible, I'd settle for no thumbnail caching at all, forcing Windows to regenerate thumbnails each time a folder is accessed.
