• SetSel on EN_SETFOCUS or WM_SETFOCUS doesn't work

  I've ran into next mystic thing in Winapi/MFC, I have an edit box, contents of which I have to select on Tab, Lclick, Rclick, Mclick and so on. The sort of obvious path is to handle the SETFOCUS message and call SetSel(0, -1), which should select all text. But it doesn't work! What's wrong? I tried googling, everyone seems to override Lclilks or handle SetSel in parent windows, but this is wrong from encapsulation point of view, also multiple clicks (user wants to insert something in the middle of the text) will break, and so on. Why isn't my approach working, I tried like 10 different ways, tried to trap all possible focus messages, looked up info on MSDN, but nothing works as expected. Also, I need to recreate the carret on focus, which also doesn't seem to work. SETFOCUS message gets trapped alright. If I add __asm int 3, it breaks every time. It's the create carret and setsel that gets swallowed it seems.

  Hello, I'm using boost.python and I need in building some module for it. I have an some_module.cpp file in project. How can I build it correctly to the shared library for using it with python in future? When I learned it, I had only 1 file and I built it with command: gcc -shared -Wl,-soname,hello.so -o hello.so test.cpp -I /usr/include/python2.6/ -lboost_python And I don't know how to configure it in whole project. I'm using Eclipse and Code::Blocks IDEs.

• Select points on a map

  I am just beginning design work on a problem that I'm sure has been solved before. In a web based application, I need to: a) present a map b) place a set of points (map-pins) on the map c) allow the user at his browser to draw a simple closed curve on the map with his mouse d) send the path of that curve back to the server e) on the server, select from the set of points those that are within the closed curve. What are the best API's to use for this problem? (I know I can and will do more research with Google, but I'm figuring there is probably someone who has done this that can give me some pointers to narrow my search space.) Thanks.

• Rotation Interpolation

  Hello, NB: I'll present this question in degrees purely for simplicity, radians, degrees, different zero-bearing, the problem is essentially the same. Does anyone have any ideas on the code behind rotational interpolation? Given a linear interpolation function: Lerp(from, to, amount), where amount is 0...1 which returns a value between from and to, by amount. How could I apply this same function to a rotational interpolation between 0 and 360 degrees? Given that degrees should not be returned outside 0 and 360. Given this unit circle for degrees: where from = 45 and to = 315, the algorithm should take the shortest path to the angle, i.e. it should go through zero, to 360 and then to 315 - and not all the way round 90, 180, 270 to 315. Is there a nice way to achieve this? Or is it going to just be a horrid mess of if() blocks? Am I missing some well understood standard way of doing this? Any help would be appreciated.

  I have a circle around a given point, call this point (x1, y1). I know the radius of the circle around this point. I also have a second point (x2, y2), that is a distance away, outside the radius of the circle. I need a algebraic way through code to calculate the heading (angle from vertical) needed to intersect the circle at 90* to the center point (I.E. get the angle of the tangent intersecting line 2) around the point (x1, y1) from the second point (x2, y2) A bit of background: Essentially the two points are GPS coordinates on a 2D map, I need to know the target heading to intersect the circle in order to follow its path around the center point. • Bug in the official Android Fragments training sample?

  It seems to me that there must be a bug in the Android Fragments demo. As background, Fragments are apparently sometimes instantiated by the Android OS and thus need a public no-arg constructor: All subclasses of Fragment must include a public empty constructor. The framework will often re-instantiate a fragment class when needed, in particular during state restore, and needs to be able to find this constructor to instantiate it. If the empty constructor is not available, a runtime exception will occur in some cases during state restore. But the NewsReader demo from the official Android training on Fragments constructs the HeadlinesFragment class and configures it with setOnHeadlineSelectedListener(this) from NewsReaderActivity.onCreate(). If the Android OS re-instantiates this fragment, the mHeadlineSelectedListener field will be null because HeadlinesFragment doesn't save or restore its state. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

• Why will IIS 6 not serve my custom 404 page when I set the URL in 'Custom Errors'?

  I've got an ASP.NET MVC site & I've got an Errors controller with a NotFound action which works great for 404 errors that pass though .NET, but for stuff that doesn't (like static files) I've set the Custom Errors value for 404 to URL with a value of /Errors/NotFound. But when I do this & hit a non-existant page the site just gives me this: The system cannot find the path specified. Is this because it's a dynamic url, can IIS not redirect 404 requests to dynamic urls or have I screwed up the config somewhere?

• My HttpHandler doesn't want to create directory on a network

  I use this simple line of code inside my HttpHandler: Directory.CreateDirectory(@"\\srv-001\dev\folderToCreate\"); I receive an UnauthoridezAccessException telling me that the access to the path is denied. From here, I create a little Dos application in C# doing the same thing and I was able to create the folder. So, I thought that it might be that IIS is running on a different user than myself. I went to IIS and changed the Application pool to a Custom user, myself. But, unfortunately, I got the same exception. I have try to create a Share folder on my computer and I can create directory. Also, when debugging I can see that System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity have its AuthenticationType to "", IsAuthenticated to false and name to "". So, with all those tests I can conclude that the HttpHandler that receive the file cannot create a directory because of some security access. How can I grand access to my HttpHandler to be able to create a directory (and files) to a network folder?

• Rails paperclip problem

  I have uploaded the video into my rails application by using thoughtbot-paperclip then the video is converted into "flv" format by using ffmpeg. For your reference here I specified some of my model sample code: model.rb: has_attached_file :source,:styles => {:thumb => "137x85>" } If i specified :url or :path option it doesn't worked correctly. In my view I played my video by using the following line: <%= @model.source.url.gsub(/\?.*/,'')%> If i use <%= @model.source.url%>, the video is not played. When do the puts for video url it shows me the video URL as /source/original/sample/sample.fly?22000009. I knew that the last portion is a timestamp, but i want to use <%= @model.source.url%>. What's my mistake here can any one correct me please?

• paperclip callbacks or simple processor?

  I wanted to run the callback after_post_process but it doesn't seem to work in Rails 3.0.1 using Paperclip 2.3.8. It gives an error: undefined method `_post_process_callbacks' for #<Class:0x102d55ea0> I want to call the Panda API after the file has been uploaded. I would have created my own processor for this, but as Panda handles the processing, and it can upload the files as well, and queue itself for an undetermined duration I thought a callback would do fine. But the callbacks don't seem to work in Rails3. after_post_process :panda_create def panda_create video = Panda::Video.create(:source_url => mp3.url.gsub(/[?]\d*/,''), :profiles => "f4475446032025d7216226ad8987f8e9", :path_format => "blah/1234") end I tried require and include for paperclip in my model but it didn't seem to matter. • help with inline images/mail with cron - php?

  I've got mailings that need to be sended using cron. When I load the script manualy all works fine. With cron i get broken images. to change the src of my img i used: $body = eregi_replace("managersrc_logo","images/managers/acertainlogo.jpg",$body); Because i thaught that it is importent to use absolute paths i also tried: $body = eregi_replace("managersrc_logo","http://www.site.com/images/managers/acertainlogo.jpg",$body); In that case i even do not see the images when i run the cronscript manualy. Nor the automated cron will display me the images. When i check the source of the mail that is received i always see "cid:encryptedstuff" even if i use absolute paths? Why is that? I just want my absolute paths being printed in the src attribute of the img tag. Who changes my absolute path to cid: ? is it php, phpmailer or outlook itself? Any help someone?.... David

• CommandManager Executed Events don't fire for custom ICommands

  The WPF CommandManager allows you to do the following (pseudo-ish-code): <Button Name="SomeButton" Command="{Binding Path=ViewModelCommand}"/> And in the code-behind: private void InitCommandEvents() { CommandManager.AddExecutedEventHandler(this.SomeButton, SomeEventHandler); } The SomeEventHandler never gets called. To me this didn't seem like something very wrong to try and do, but if you consider what happens inside CommandManager.AddExecutedEventHandler, it makes sense why it doesn't. Add to that the fact that the documentation clearly states that the CommandManager only works with RoutedCommands. Nonetheless, this had me very frustrated for a while and led me to this question: What would you suggest is the best workaround for the fact that the CommandManager does not support custom ICommands? Especially if you want to add behavior around the execution of a command? For now, I fire the command manually in code behind from the button click event.

• Replacement for PHP's __autoload function?

  I have read about dynamically loading your class files when needed in a function like this: function __autoload($className) { include("classes/$className.class.php"); } $obj = new DB(); Which will automatically load DB.class.php when you make a new instance of that class, but I also read in a few articles that it is bad to use this as it's a global function and any libraries that you bring into your project that have an __autoload() function will mess it up. So does anyone know of a solution? Perhaps another way to achieve the same effect as __autoload()? Until I find a suitable solution I'll just carry on using __autoload() as it doesn't start becoming a problem until you bring in libraries and such. Thanks.

  I'm working through Michael Hartl's tutorial trying to learn Rails for the first time, and I've run into some issues. I recently reinstalled the whole Rails Installer because I had apparently inadvertently deleted some important files. Now, when I try running a test I get the following error: sh.exe": /c/Program Files (x86)/ruby-1.9.3/bin/bundle: "c:/Program: bad interpre ter: No such file or directory I checked my PATH and attempted to use the solution outlined here: Bundle command not found. Bad Interpreter ..but putting quotation marks around "C:\Program Files (x86)\ruby-1.9.3\bin" didn't do anything for me. I ran $ rails -v and got the following output: $ rails -v ?[31mCould not find multi_json-1.3.6 in any of the sources?[0m ?[33mRun `bundle install` to install missing gems.?[0m So then I tried running $bundle install and got the following issue again: Tom@TOM-PC /c/sample_app (updating-users) $ bundle install sh.exe": /c/Program Files (x86)/ruby-1.9.3/bin/bundle: "c:/Program: bad interpre ter: No such file or directory I'd really appreciate any help -- I've spent 5+ hours today trying to get back on track and am still at a loss.   I have a basic Squid server setup and I am trying to use Ruby's Net::HTTP::Proxy class to send a POST of form data to a specified HTTP endpoint. I assumed I could do the following: Net::HTTP::Proxy(my_host, my_port).start(url.host) do |h| req = Net::HTTP::Post.new(url.path) req.form_data = { "xml" => xml } h.request(req) end But, alas, proxy vs. non-proxied Net::HTTP classes don't seem to use the proxy IP Address. my remote service responds telling me that it received a request from the wrong IP address, ie: not the proxy. I am looking for a specific way to write the procedure, so that I can successfully send a form post via a proxy. Help? :)
