  • space in url; did browser got smarter or server?

    It looks like today you no longer to have to encode spaces by %20 in your html links or image links. For example, suppose you have this image at ?http://example.com/i/my house.jpg?. Notice the space there. In your html code, you can just do this: <img src="http://example.com/i/my house.jpg" alt="my house"> It work in all current version of browsers. Though, what i'm not sure is that whether the browser encodes it before requesting the url, or a particular server will do the right with with paths with space? (apache)

  • Jquery Var Returned As object

    I'm trying to pass a variable from one function to another, but the var elmId is being returned as an object and giving an error. When we click on any of the generated divs we should be able to change the size of the div by choosing a width / height value from the drop down menus. I'm trying to pass the clicked div id which is elmId to function displayVals but it is not working. If we replace "#"+elmId in the function displayVals with the actual id of the first div created with is "#divid1" then it works.   • Wrong extraction of .attr("href") in IE7 vs all other browsers?

    Can it really be true that the attr("href") command for a link is handled very different in IE7 in comparison to all other browsers? Let's say I have a page at http://example.com/page.html and I have this HTML: <a href="#someAnchor" class="lnkTest">Link text</a> and this jQuery: var strHref = $(".lnkTest").attr("href"); Then in IE7 the value of the strHref variable will be "http://example.com/page.htm#someAnchor" but in other browsers it will be "#someAnchor". I believe that the last mentioned case is the most correct one, so is it just a case of IE7 being a bad boy or is it a bug in jQuery?

    Hi, I've been fighting with mod-rewrite for a while. Basically, I have a website that I'm moving to a difference namespace/directory. What I'd like to do is change urls that look like this: http://mydomain.com/index.php?a=xxxxxxxxxx These urls will always have "index.php?a=". I have a different/new site that also has an index.php file, so it's important that I do a rewrite only when a= is in the URL. The new url should be like http://mydomain.com/ns1/index.php?a=xxxxxxxxxxx Seems pretty simple, but i can't seem to get mod_rewrite to do it for me, here's what I have: # rewrite old urls to new namespace RewriteRule ^/index.php\?a=(.*)$ /gc1/index.php\?x=1&a=$1 [R=301,L] See anything wrong?

    I am trying to parse an xml file with a soap envelope from a web service using php. I would like to use SoapClient, but I get an error back that 'page must be viewed over secure channel SSL', which I think is an issue on their end, so I gave up on that. Currently I am using curl to get a result back. I've read quite a few other posts and have tried several different methods of getting the info and so far nothing has seemed to work.

  • Magento: Configurable product options not showing on a view page?

    I have multi-store Magento system and strange things happen when i try to see a configurable product on my main store - the options select lists don't show up at all! And that is the case for the 95% of the products on the main store. But on the other stores it works fine?! I can't see what am I doing wrong. All my products are configurable, all have set simple products with options attached to them, all are set to be visible on all stores (WebsiteIds attribute), all are enabled on all stores, all simple products are in stock and have some stock quantity set. I think if I've done something wrong it would be like that on all stores, not just the main one. I'm totally clueless, please help.   • Extend university wifi network

    i live in a university campus and i can get wifi signal on the outside of my window but not in the house. The solution i use at the moment is a usb wifi dongle outside connected to my laptop but the lack of an internal antenna make the connection quite unreliable at times. So i was trying to find another solution to improve the reception of my network. One idea is to setup a router on the outside (in a place with stronger signal) and redirect the connection inside the house with an ethernet cable but the problem is that our Uni Wifi is managed by a capitve portal (BlueSocket with DNS redirection to login page) and the authentication has to happen on the mac address that connect to the net (so the client appliance in this case). If I use a router with Mac-Clone capability i will be able to be redirected trough the captive portal on my laptop computer and login from there or i need to setup my router to fill in the login page by itself? There are other hardware/software solutions i can use to get what i want?

    I develop websites for corporate clients, so we see the ®, ™, etc. chars a whole lot. Sometimes I paste in huge blocks of copy, which might even contain pretty quotes (“ ”) or other strange characters from word processors. So, my question is this: Does anyone know of a vim plugin or script that can, in one fell swoop, convert all these characters to html entities? I think this covers all the bases of the entities it would be nice to have: http://web.forret.com/tools/charmap.asp So, for the characters above, they would be replaced with &reg;, &trade;, &ldquo;, &rdquo;, etc. I tried the htmlspecialchars vimball (http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=2377), but no dice. It only performs its replacement like the PHP htmlsepcialchars function, replacing html-conflicting characters, and doesn't cover any additional special characters.

    Hi, I posted this question on Three20 google group but did not get any response. So I thought I try this forum. I am using TTPhotoViewController to display photos. I am following sample code given in Three20 sample project: TTCatalog/PhotoTest1Controller.m. In my case some of the images are less than (320,480). The problem which I am facing is that when my image is 200*300 then TTPhotoViewController re-sizes it to full screen on load which distorts the image. I was wondering if there is a way to tell TTPhotoViewController to display image in its actual size and not to resize it. The only thing which I have changed is viewDidLoad function in PhotoTest1Controller.m. We know that these client can browse the internet without a problem so we decided to change our TCPClient application so that It uses HTTP messages to communicate. Will it be enough just to wrap our text massages with standard HTML tags and HTTP headers? We need a long lasting connection. Does keep-alive have a limit? Do firewalls or proxies have time limits for "alive" connections.

    I am using the recess php framework with lighttpd Does anyone know how I can use the shorter urls of: http://www.myserver.com/recess Instead of: http://www.myserver.com/index.php/recess The recess readme file says that if I have mod_rewrite I can use the shorter url: -- "Do you have mod_rewrite? -- Yes: Open your browser to the location you unzipped -- No: Open your browser to the location you unzipped followed by index.php" I do have mod_rewrite enabled on lighttpd and i have removed the index.php but I get a 404. Do I need any special rules in my lighttpd.conf?

  • Is there a direct URL to download Java JDK updates?

    I have a whole set of machines that are on the other side of a firewall configured to prevent all Javascript from functioning. All of them (Linux 32 and 64 bit configurations) must be updated to Java 6 update 20. This is a problem given Sun/Oracle's URL redirector and download manager: they simply don't appear or don't work. Is there a URL to download the JDK updates and bypass the redirect? Obviously, a yum configuration that would allow for automatic updates would be optimal but I'd be happy to just have the rpm file.
