• How to do google webpage translate in a Java class

  Hi,this is a follow-up question of mine. Suppose now I have a URL : http://www.baidu.com/s?bs=%B0%C2%B0%CD%C2%ED&f=8&wd=%B0%C2%B0%CD%C2%ED and it work perfectly by inputting it in the text field of google translate and select from "Chinese" to English. My question is ,suppose now I want to achieve this in Java, I would like to adopt "Process q=Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "cmd /c start +URL" approach to do this. Could I achieve that by simply concatenating the Google translate URL and the webpage URL? If yes,could you please elaborte,thanks.

• Best way to implement a Rest API with PHP on Wamp web server

  Hello, i own a web server running windows (WAMP). I want to know the best way to implement a Rest API (a very simple one) in order to let a user do something. Diagram flow: I have programming skills, in fact, i developed some time ago a web server in VB6 who process the querys and when it find the command (http:/serverIP/webform.php?cmd=run&item=any) it do something, but know i really want to develop a solution using the WAMP server. Some people consider the solution of executing a exe when a command is detected a bad solution for security issues, but this specific proyect i have is for the use of only some people (trusted people) who dont have intentions of hacking the server. So, what do you think? Remember: Its not a public API, its for some people and some programs who will use the API Its a very simple one, only one command using POST or GET. Thanks

• Git on windows, is it truly distributed?

  I am just starting out with git on the Windows platform. I have mysygit installed and bar a few hiccups I am 'git'ing away nicely. However, I must be missing something because I don't understand how two msysgit clients on different Windows machines can push and pull to each other directly? I am a complete linux noob but I think I can see that the ssh thing allows distribution on linux. However, the msysgit client appears just to be additional commands in the windows cmd prompt and there is no windows service element. If I try git clone 'MyMatesPc' who is going to be listening to this request at the other end? I can see that if you have a 'central' server running git on linux (or cygwin), you can share commits by pushing them onto the 'central' repo from one machine, then pulling them down onto another. This effectively means that you are having to use a central server. I don't have a problem with this, but wanted to check that I am not missing anything!

• Crashing the OS X Pasteboard

  I have an application that reads in text by emulating CMD-C copy commands and reading the pasteboard - unfortunately this the only way to achieve what I need. Occasionally, something goes wrong in execution (not sure yet if it's related to the copy command or not) and the app crashes. Once in a while, this has a knock on effect on the system-wide pasteboard - any other application that is running will crash if I attempt a copy, cut, or paste. Is there a robust way to handle this - something I should be doing with the NSPasteboard before exiting? Any information on what might be happening is appreciated.   Hi everyone, I have a java application launched by a .cmd file. I want to set the classpath of the application through this batch, all the needed jars are into a lib folder. Here is what I tried : set _classpath=. for %%i in (%1/lib/*.*) do ( set _classpath=%_classpath%;%%i ) Surprisingly, it seems that it does not act as expected.   According to my last question about how to create folder here I find some codes that s.b before write it! looking : (sorry for limitation i cant put codes here) they try to Create a bat file,by oracle outfile text_IO,file_type then they write these statement! body_of_file = 'Net use x: \\address' body_of_file += 'md' || filename body_of_file += 'start '|| file name then open bat file and write inside it! then they call it by HOST!!!! like: Host('cmd /c \\address\.x.bat host_folder'|| sysdate); but they can easily and directly by calling HOST! and also I dont know why they code just can in oracle 6i!!!! we use 2 oracle 6i and 10g. please would you help me : 1- why this code dont work in 10g? 2- which way is better?create a batch file and create folder or use HOST for run each command?(in my Idea both is same,How about u?)

  Hi all I'm using JBPM 4.3 and trying hard to find a way to terminate one processInstance. First I simply used something like: executionService.endProcessInstance(processInstanceID, "active"); However I got exception thrown out. "exception while executing command org.jbpm.pvm.internal.cmd.EndProcessInstance java.lang.NullPointerException" Then I googled to find this post http://community.jboss.org/thread/146478, which didn't seem to give a resolution. I tried nevertheless to end all executions of the processInstance by calling ((ExecutionImpl) execution).end(); But the same exception was thrown again when I finally try to call executionService.endProcessInstance(processInstanceID, "active"); Did anyone have the same experience and solution?

• C# console applications all 16bit?

  Hi all, I was reading up about NTVDM.exe as I build a quick test console app and it crashed on a friends machine complaining about this EXE. As I understand it all DOS cmd windows (C# console apps included) run as 16bit not 32bit. Is this true? Does this mean all my works console app back office apps are running as 16bit rather than making the most of the 32bit available? What about Windows services? As I believe we wrote it as a console app then made it run as a windows service? Thanks

• SharePoint thinks new Server is offline?

  I added an index server to the topology, and tried to switch it from the front end to the index server but for some reason I get an exception every time in Central Admin saying the server is offline. I checked everything... IIS is running and is serving out correctly The App Pool Identity is valid I restarted IIS I restarted the Indexing server I had a wierd problem when installing SP2 for SharePoint, (WSS sp2 installed fine) where it got stuck and "Upgrading SharePoint Products and Technologies" and I had to run the following command to get it to continue: psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -force After that it said it succeeded with no errors... The only thing I haven't done is reboot the Primary server cause I have to do it in off hours, but I want to make sure I have covered all my other bases first...Any ideas?

  I want to execute a cmd line tool to process data. It does not need to be blocking. I want it to be low priority. So i wrote the below Process app = new Process(); app.StartInfo.FileName = @"bin\convert.exe"; app.StartInfo.Arguments = TheArgs; app.PriorityClass = ProcessPriorityClass.BelowNormal; app.Start(); However i get a System.InvalidOperationException with the msg "No process is associated with this object." Why? how do i properly launch this app in low priority? PS: Without the line app.PriorityClass = ProcessPriorityClass.BelowNormal; the app runs fine.

• Cleanest way to run/debug python programs in windows

  Python for Windows by default comes with IDLE, which is the barest-bones IDE I've ever encountered. For editing files, I'll stick to emacs, thank you very much. However, I want to run programs in some other shell than the crappy windows command prompt, which can't be widened to more than 80 characters. IDLE lets me run programs in it if I open the file, then hit F5 (to go Run- Run Module). I would rather like to just "run" the command, rather than going through the rigmarole of closing the emacs file, loading the IDLE file, etc. A scan of google and the IDLE docs doesn't seem to give much help about using IDLE's shell but not it's IDE. Any advice from the stack overflow guys? Ideally I'd either like advice on running programs using IDLE's shell advice on other ways to run python programs in windows outside of IDLE or "cmd". • Xcode: code loses syntax coloring

  I find that in various situations Objective-C code in Xcode 3.1 (Leopard) can fail to get appropriate syntax coloring after typing or lose coloring that it had. This isn't just a "refresh" issue with new custom symbols -- but affects Cocoa framework symbols as well. Sometimes CMD-a to select all text on the code page will make the coloring (re)appear, sometimes double-clicking on a line to select it will work, sometimes I have to add/delete a space in a symbol to get that symbol to (re)color. Rebuilding, or closing/reopening the project may or may not work. Is this a known issue with Xcode? For something so annoying to me, I'm not finding the plentiful discussions of it on SO and elsewhere I'd expect. And is there any command to force global syntax recoloring?

  Hello, I'm trying to execute a shell command from a java application, on the GNU/Linux platform. The problem is that the script, that calls another java application, never ends, although it runs successfully from bash. I tried to debug it: (gdb) bt #0 0xb773d422 in __kernel_vsyscall () #1 0xb7709b5d in pthread_join (threadid=3063909232, thread_return=0xbf9cb678) at pthread_join.c:89 #2 0x0804dd78 in ContinueInNewThread () #3 0x080497f6 in main () I tried with: ProcessBuilder(); and Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd); Looks like it waits for something to finish.   (Using Windows 2000 and 2003 Server) We use forfiles.exe to delete backup .zip files older than n days, and it works great (command is a bit like below) forfiles -p"C:\Backup" -m"*.zip" -c"cmd /c if @ISDIR==FALSE del \"@PATH\@FILE\"" -d-5 If a .zip file fails to be created, I'd like to ensure that we don't end up with 0 .zip files in the backup after 5 days. Therefore, the command needs to be: "delete anything older than 5 days, but ALWAYS keep the most recent 5 files, EVEN if they themselves are older than 5 days" We can use forfiles.exe or another solution (although anything that is a slick one-liner is ALWAYS preferable to a script file). • Globbing with MinGW on Windows

  I have an application built with the MinGW C++ compiler that works something like grep - acommand looks something like this: myapp -e '.*' *.txt where the thing that comes after the -e switch is a regex, and the thing after that is file name pattern. It seems that MinGW automatically expands (globs in UNIX terms) the command line so my regex gets mangled. I can turn this behaviour off, I discovered, by setting the global variable _CRT_glob to zero. This will be fine for bash and other sensible shell users, as the shell will expand the file pattern. For MS cmd.exe users however, it looks like I will have to expand the file pattern myself. So my question - does anyone know of a globbing library (or facility in MinGW) to do partial command line expansion? I'm aware of the _setargv feature of the Windows CRT, but that expands the full command line. Please note I've seen this question, but it really does not address partial expansion.

  We are able to run instrumentation tests of Android from the command line on Windows by launching: adb shell am instrument -w <package.test>/android.test.InstrumentationTestRunner This gives us good results. Using the same architecture, we are unable to run the same in Kubuntu. We have the same setup in Kubuntu. Can someone let us know, if there are packages with same name.. Then what package will the adb shell point? How will the emulator connect with adb shell from cmd line? DO we need to do any changes to do so in Kubuntu ?

I usually surround my connections with a try/finally, and I always close the connection in the finally clause. Given the above code, is it reasonable to assume that the connection will be closed if there is an exception?

How do i solve this? • How to do a true Java ping from Windows?

  I have a device on a network that I am attempting to ping through my Java program. Through my windows command prompt, I can ping the device address fine and do a tracert on the address fine. Online, I have seen that in order to do a ping through Java you have to do the following: InetAddress.getByName(address).isReachable(timeout); But, when I use this code on my device address, it always returns false in my program. I am using the correct IPv4 address with a good timeout value. Also, if I use a localhost address, it works fine. Why can I ping the device through cmd, but not through my program? I have heard in various places that this is not a true ping. Is there a better way to emulate a ping in Java? Thanks

• Attach Console to Service

  I currently have a WCF Service Library which will be started through a Console Application acting as ServiceHost. The ServiceHost starts the service and then waits with Console.ReadLine() for the "quit" command. If i do "Console.WriteLine();" in the service this will be printed to the ServiceHosts Console of course. The Service prints some information when the clients connect for example. Is it possible to have the ServiceHost converted to a real Windows Service (to start up when the machine boots without console window) and attach or detach a command prompt (cmd.exe) or another Console Application to it when needed? For example if I want so see which clients connect from now on? Thanks in advance!
