• how to profile silverlight mvvm application with a lot of custom controls

  There is a quite big LOB silverlight application and we wrote a lot of custom controls which are rather heavy in drawing. All data is loaded by RIA service, processed and bound (using INofityPropertyChanged interface) to the view. The problem is that first drawing takes a lot time. Following calls to the service (server) and redrawing is quite fast. I used Equatec profiler to track the problem. I saw that processing takes a couple of miliseconds only so my idea is that the drawing by SL engine is slow. I'm wondering if it is possible to profile somehow processes inside SL to check which drawing operations are taking too much time. Are there any guidelines how to implement faster drawing of complex custom controls?

  I have a JTextField, where I've set some custom properties: nameField.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(275,40)); nameField.setBackground(bgColor); nameField.setForeground(txtColor); nameField.setFont(new Font("HelveticaNeue",Font.PLAIN,22)); nameField.setBorder(BorderFactory.createLineBorder(Color.WHITE, 2)); When the component has focus, there is no highlight shown around the field. On a Mac, it is usually a blue glowing rectangle, indicating that this component has focus. If I comment out the nameField.setBorder(...), the highlight reappears. How do I keep the highlight, but also my custom border!? Basically, I just want the highlight-border to show when the component has focus, and no border when the component is unfocused.

• Create Custom Builds of an Xcode Project

  I am going to build a Mac application written in Obj-C with Xcode. For argument's sake let's say it will have 10 optional features. I need a way to enable or disable those features to create custom builds of the application. These builds would be automated (most likely through the Mac OS X Terminal) so I would need a way to state which of these features are enabled/disabled at build time (a configuration file or CLI arguments would be ideal.) So what is the best way to accomplish this? I'm trying to plan this out before I start coding so that there is proper separation in my code base to allow for these features to come and go. Ideally the custom build would only contain compiled code for the features it should have. In other words I don't want to always compile all the features and condition them out at runtime.

• Custom view in ListView disappears while scrolling in Android

  Hi. I wrote a simple custom view for rows in ListView. It works fine, but when I try to scroll the list, I see only white rows without content. And when scrolling is over, rows continue to show again. I can get the code to call the procedure, but how do I access the returned Custom Object to obtain it's contained values?.   Hi, I made a custom list adapter extending the Base adapter. Each item in the list has an imagebutton, 2 textviews and a button. I tried to add the context menu to the list so as to display some options for an item in the list. registerForContextMenu(getListView()); I used a MenuInflater object to inflate the context menu xml file. But on clicking the items in the list nothing shows up or the usual highlighting of the item of list on click isn't shown. Is it that the context menu doesn't work for custom list views? • Regex Pattern for ignoring a custom escape character

  I am trying to find a suitable regex for matching pair of custom characters in an input string. These custom characters are replaced by their corresponding html tags. For e.g. The input string can have underscores in pairs to indicate words in bold. Hence, _Name_ outputs as <b>Name</b> However if there is a genuine underscore in the string, it cannot be replaced by "bold" tags and has to be ignored. The genuine underscore has to be preceded by / (I couldn't find a better character, it could be one more underscore or hyphen or whatever). Any single or paired occurrance of this genuine underscore has to be ignored by regex.   Hi all: I need to redirect a user to a different page if they visit a certain set of pages in a web. There is one condition: I'm not allowed to touch the IIS. I have googled around and found a thing called the custom HttpHandler for WSS 3.0. It sounded like something that I can use to capture the URL the user enters (the most malicious way to get to a page that should really be redirected) and redirect them to another page/web. But having not have the chance to use it yet, I was wondering am I on the right track by using a Custom HttpHandler to redirect a user to a different page in Sharepoint using C#? Many thanks.

  I need to load a custom cell in a UITableView. I created a custom subclass of UITableViewCell named "CustomTableViewCell". I have added a UITabelViewCell to the tableview (using drag and drop) as shown in figure. Then in file inspector I set the class of that UITabelViewCell to be "CustomTableViewCell".   Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to implement the following: Suppose I have a custom Manager that has about 10 or so BitmapFields layed out in a horizontal manner (similar to a slideshow contained in a HFM ) . What I want to achieve is to be able to move the image HFM via touchEvent horizontally, where a BitmapField would take focus on the left-hand side of the custom Manager. In other words, will I have to give a value to setHorizontalScroll and if so, is it a matter of just incrementing that value when the user makes a left or right touch event. Also, how can I get the focus of a Field within a given position on the screen (i.e. the left-most Field on the HFM) when the HFM is scrolling sideways via touchEvent?

  Hi, I have the following problem and I cannot figure out how to solve it. I have an NSSet which contains Person objects (NSDictionary with 2 keys: name, age). From time to time I get an NSArray of Person objects and I want to add them to my NSSet but I want to filter out the duplicates. I'm thinking I could use NSPredicates but I am reading the documentation and I can't understand how should I format my NSPredicate to filter out my array content based on what I already have in NSSet. So I have an NSSet with 5 custom objects and I get an NSArray with 6 objects but 3 of them already exist in NSSet and I want to filter them out. I understand what I should do with basic objects like Strings, integers, etc but I don't know how to extend this to work with custom more complex objects. I hope I was clear enough with my problem. Any starting point, example or advice is much appreciated. Thank you!

  I need to draw a shape whose boundaries are parts of parabola (that is quadratic bezier curves) using iText. I have found only method for drawing cubic bezier curves in PdfContentByte class. So how do I draw quadratic bezier curves using iText ? One way would be to use method for cubic bezier curves. Is it possible to draw quadratic bezier curves as a cubic bezier curves (with 2 control points). I gues it is but I cannot make up the formula. If somebody states the formula tu "translate" cubic bezier curves to quadratic that would solve the problem. Any other ways to draw quadratic bezier(parts of parabola) curves in iText (and filled shapes made of them) is also the solution. Thanks

  I have a simple structure, it's just an array of model's objects. For example, it's a users with books. @books = Book.find(:all, :include = :users) I need to check, does user have a book? I have written a helper method: def has_book?(user_id) @books.select{|b| b.user_id == user_id}.any? end Then, i need to get only books from selected library def in_library(n) @books.select{|b| b.library == n} end I have tried to make custom Array class: class BooksList < Array def initialize(books) self << books end # its my custom methods def has_book?(user_id) self.select{|b| b.user_id == user_id}.any? end def in_library(n) self.select{|b| b.library == n} end end It works, but i have only one problem. I can't access Book's assotiated object (user). So i can't write: @books = BookList.new(Book.find(:all, :include => :users)) @books.first.user.id # it says undefined method `user' for #<Array:0x104b43e08>

  Hi All, What I am trying to do is create tooltip functionality so that certain words in my instructional app can be tapped and the definition pops up. For the popup part I plan on using code from “AFInformationView” which provides bubbles on the iPhone. The part I'm struggling with is how to associate A particular word's location with the bubble. Currently I have the text on a UILabel that is on a custom UITableCell. Since I calculate the row height on the fly with: [textToUse sizeWithFont:[UIFont systemFontOfSize:FONT_SIZE] constrainedToSize:CGSizeMake(stop-start, 500)]; I'm not sure what the coordinates for a specific word will be. I was thinking that if I created a custom DataDetectorType that could be the fix. If anyone knows how to do this or has any other ideas I would be happy to hear them. Thanks, Andrew

Create my own subclass of a UIView that draws a line in the draw rect method. Draw elsewhere on another view, another UIImageView that has an UIImage inside it (is this possible?) Another way? I thus created a prerequisites list before compiled it with MSBuild, but I also need to test and install the otkloadr.dll fix (KB907417). In a first time I used a custom bootstrapper package, but the package directory and files must be included with my deployment if I want to use it. In fact I really want to have a very light setup kit, with only the setup.exe and the addin.msi files... Is there a way to use a custom bootstrapper package embedded into the setup.exe ? If not, is there a standard bootstrapper package which include the KB907417 fix ?

• Custom View - Avoid redrawing when non-interactive

  I have a complex custom view - photo collage. What is observed is whenever any UI interaction happens, the view is redrawn. How can I avoid complete redrawing (for example, use a cached UI) of the view specially when I click the "back" button to go back to previous activity because that also causes redrawing of the view. While exploring the API and web, I found a method - getDrawingCache() - but don't know how to use it effectively. How do I use it effectively? I've had other issues with Custom Views that I outline here.
