• custom button MouseLeave event

  Hi, I made a custom button with some panels and pictureboxes. With the MouseEnter and MouseLeave I set the appropriate hover images like normal buttons. The problem is that if I move the mouse too fast over the control it sometimes doesn't trigger the MouseLeave event. This way the button is "locked" in hover state. screenshot problem: http://www.jesconsultancy.nl/images/screens/screen_prblm.png the button at the right is locked in "hover" state.   What is the best way to get an event from a child or grandchild module up to the parent Shell? For instance, if I have a view in a module that is actually 2 levels away from the Shell, and I have a Window behavior. Is the eventaggregator really the best way to do this? it seems like overkill. I just want my MainShell to watch for a change in the IsDialogOpen Property on the ViewModels in all my child modules. I feel like I am missing the trees for the forest...

• Adobe AIR: touch screen doesn't trigger mouse down event correctly

  i have designed a gaming kiosk app in as3 i am using it on a Sony vaio l pc (like hp's touchsmarts) in windows 7 the app doesn't need any multi-touch gestures (only single touch clicks and drags) so i am using mouse events everything is fine (including mouse click and move events) except that a single touch to the screen (with no move) doesn't fire a mouse down. it is fired only after a small move of the finger outside the app, on my desktop, i see that the small windows 7 cursor jumps immediately to where a finger is placed, meaning this issue isn't a hardware or a windows problem but rather how internally the flash app receives "translated" touch-to-mouse events from the os. for example, in a windows Solitaire game, a simple touch to the screen immediately highlights the touched card. in my app, a button will change to the down state only if i touch it and also move my finger slightly (click events - down and up - are triggered fine) shouldn't the MOUSE_DOWN event trigger exactly like how a TOUCH_BEGIN would in the new touchevent class? any ideas?

  I am trying to understand an issue where event-listener registration on plugins doesn't work in Opera unless i delay them. In particular, this doesn't work: document.onload = function() { plugin.addEventListener("foo", function() { alert('onFoo'); }, false); } while delaying the addEventListener() call somewhat through e.g. an alert() does: document.onload = function() { alert('onload()'); plugin.addEventListener("foo", function() { alert('onFoo'); }, false); } It seems that plugins are only loaded after document.onload. As a non-web-developer, am i missing something simple here? Or is this a known Opera problem with a common work-around?

  I can't seem to capture the scroll event on an iPad. None of these work, what I am doing wrong? window.onscroll=myFunction; document.onscroll=myFunction; window.attachEvent("scroll",myFunction,false); document.attachEvent("scroll",myFunction,false); They all work even on Safari 3 on Windows. Ironically, EVERY browser on the PC supports window.onload= if you don't mind clobbering existing events. But no go on iPad.

  I have some ASP code that I've "inherited" from my predecessor (no, it's not an option to update it at this time...It would take an act of not only Congress, but every other foreign country too) and I'm having an issue sending mail on one of the pages. It is an almost identical code snippet from the other page, but this one throws an error when I try to 'Send'.   I have an array that returns multidimensional data from an mysql database, when this is collected the createNews function creates the user interface. The problem I am having is the loop is iterating quicker than the ui is being created, is there a way to use event listeners with loops so it only continues after my function has completed its work.   I have a flash site that users can view full Screen video. the trouble is, I am making only the video player full screen (hiding the rest of the site behind it). my "toggle full screen" button works in that it reduces the video player back to normal size when the user toggles out of full screen back. but when the user hits the escape key, my flash script doesn't know that the video player should be reduced in size. it seems there's no way to capture the ESCAPE key as a key event. any ideas?

  I'm looking for a way to add an EventListener which will automatically removes itself after the first time it fires, but I can't figure a way of doing this the way I want to. • FileWatcher fires change event after file deletion

  Hi all, I'm using a FileWatcher to trigger processing of files as soon as they are added to a folder. After the file it is processed it is deleted. My problem is that after the file is deleted I get another file change event which is so close to the deletion than in some cases checking for File.Exists it tells that the file still exists. But of course some milliseconds later when looking to process the file it does not really exists. The FileWatcher is set to notify on NotifyFilters.FileName | NotifyFilters.LastAccess | NotifyFilters.LastWrite | NotifyFilters.Size | NotifyFilters.Attributes Thanks, florin

• An event for when xVal validation fails?

  I have a registration form leveraging xVal to handle all validation on the form. It works really well, with one exception: the user doesn't get feedback because another element on the page (a tip telling the user that their username will be their email address) draws on top of the span element xVal spits out when it notices a problem. If I had a way to detect when xVal has a problem with the email field, I could just toggle the visibility of that tooltip and be on my way, but I'm not sure how to do so. I know that xVal uses jquery.validate.js under the hood; is there an event or something I could tie into to do this?

• jQuery pre document ready event

  Hi, I have a list of 179 thumbnail images that I am trying to apply a jQuery lightbox tool to an unorder list of hyper-links. The problem I have is, the jQuery isnt firing until the images have finished downloading, each image is around 23K so on their own, not so big, but as a group this equates to around 4MB. There is a delay on IE (main browser used by clients) of a good 5 seconds before the page has completely downloaded every thumbnail and then allows the jQuery to fire. I have tried putting the jQuery document ready event in various places with no success, and only been able to put a bandaid on by setting the css on the ul to hide using display:none before applying .show() after the lightbox has applied. I was hoping there is a way to make the jQuery scripts fire before all the content has downloaded? Cheers

• getting JSlider bar to move on mouse click event

  Hi, I have a JSlider which shows bet sizes (for a poker game) I am trying to achieve the effect that when a mouse click occurs the slider jumps forward by a bet amount (i.e. a big blind amount) rather than just incrementing by one. If the mouse click happens to the left of the bar i want it to decrement by a fixed amount else increment. I looked into attaching a mouse listener, but do not know how I can use the event to find out on what side of the bar the mouse was clicked. Any ideas?

  Hello, I have created an simple web server, leveraging .NET HttpListener class. I am using ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem() to spawn a thread to listen to incoming requests. Threaded method uses HttpListener.BeginGetContext(callback, listener), and in callback method I resume with HttpListener.EndGetContext() as well as raise an even to notify UI that listener received data. This is the question - how to raise that event? Initially I used ThreadPool: ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem(state => ReceivedRequest(httpListenerContext, receivedRequestArgs)); But then started to doubt, maybe it should be a dedicated thread (as appose to waiting for a thread from pool): new Thread(() => ReceivedRequest(httpListenerContext, receivedRequestArgs)).Start(); Thoughts? 10X

  .NET newbie alert Using Visual C# 2008 Express Edition I have accidentally created a click event for a button. I then deleted the automatically-created method code, which resulted in an error saying that the function, which had now been referenced in the form loading code, could no longer be found. Deleting the following line from the Form1.Designer.cs file's InitializeComponent() function... this.btnCopy.Click += new System.EventHandler(this.btnCopy_Click); ... seems to do the trick, however, it makes me feel very dirty because of the following warning at the beginning of the #region: /// Required method for Designer support - do not modify /// the contents of this method with the code editor. I haven't been able to find a way to do this using the form designer, which I assume is the means implied by this warning. What is the correct way to do this?

  Hello everyone! I'm trying to create annual, all-day events with VBA in outlook 2007. I use the following code, but no matter which conbination of Start, StartDate, End, etc I use, it won't create a whole-day event. Either it gives it default start/end times, or it remove the all-day attribute... Dim Birthday As Date 'Get the birthday '... Yet trying to set Start and End this way results in errors. Plus, entries created outlook have no start/end time in the recurrence pattern (well, they are all-day entries...) Ideas, anybody? Thanks!
