  • Get the Time Interval without ITimer

    - by ronag
In my application I am hosting a flash activex control, based on the following implementation. However I need to know in what fps the control is running in when it is "ticked". The only way I know of to do this is to implement ITimerService and ITimer to get the vtimeInterval argument from ITimer::Advise. However, I do not want to control my own custom ITimer, instead I want the control to be timed using the default timer (basically sends WM_USER + 1 messages to the message queue at proper intervals) which is used when a custom ITimer is not provided. How can I read the vTimeInterval while still using the default timer?

  • BST Level Traversal

    - by Dalton Conley
Ok, so I'm trying to do a level order traversal of a binary search tree and its not working. The code below makes sense to me, but that is probably because I've been looking at it forever and I've convinced myself that it should work. void BST<T>::levelByLevel(ostream &out) { Queue<BinNodePointer> q; BinNodePointer subtreeRoot; if(myRoot == NULL) return; q.enqueue(myRoot); while(!q.empty()) { subtreeRoot = q.front(); out << subtreeRoot->data << " "; q.dequeue(); if(subtreeRoot->left != NULL) q.enqueue(subtreeRoot->left); if(subtreeRoot->right != NULL) q.enqueue(subtreeRoot->right); } } Maybe you guys could point out what I'm doing wrong because, although I understand the concept of a binary search tree, I'm not 100% on all the ins and outs.

  • How is push()ing and pop()ping defined?

    - by Helper Method
I know how the push() and pop() methods in a typical implementation of a Queue/Linked List work but what I do want to know is what you actually define as a push or a pop? When can you name a method push()/pop()? What makes the insert()/add() method in a typical Tree implementation not a push()? My understanding is that push()ing means putting something to a position some special pointer is pointing to, and pop()ping an element means putting some object away some pointer is pointing to, but it doesn't seem to be clearly defined. Or does the naming matter at all?

  • Azure Service Bus Scalability

    - by phebbar
I am trying to understand how can I make Azure Service Bus Topic to be scaleable to handle 10,000 requests/second from more than 50 different clients. I found this article at Microsoft - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/hh528527.aspx. This provides lot of good input to scale azure service bus like creating multiple message factories, sending and receiving asynchronously, doing batch send/receive. But all these input are from the publisher and subscriber client perspective. What if the node running the Topic can not handle the huge number of transactions? How do I monitor that? How do I have the Topic running on multiple nodes? Any input on that would be helpful. Also wondering if any one has done any capacity testing with Topic/Queue and I am eager to see those results... Thanks, Prasanna

  • Time in "Upload Received"

    - by rpeck1682
I uploaded an app to itunes connect yesterday afternoon. It has been in the "Upload Received" stage ever since then. I uploaded a different app today, it was in that stage for only five minutes. This is the first time I've submitted since the new, more detailed status updates were present. I'm just wondering if the app sitting there in that state for so long seems like something to be concerned about. I'm guessing by staying in that state that it isn't being put on the review queue. Anyways, has anyone else had a similar experience?

  • Cascading MVC controllers with CatchAll Routes

    - by Richard
Hi, I have an MVC app which has its routes defined with the final route being a catch all route to a "PageController" for a database driven collection of pages. What I want to achieve is to be able to plugin to the app a second controller to the catch all route which the first controller passes on to if it does not find the url recieved in the database. Effectively I want to queue up controllers with catch all actions: public ActionResult PageCatchall(string url) { var page = repository.Get<Page>(string url); if (page != null) { // Handle the request return View(page) } // Otherwise pass to a new controller ???? } Anyone have any good ideas as to how to solve this? I have tried RedirectToAction but that requires that the next controller has a different route to the action. I have tried ActionInvoker but this failed to work the way I did it.

  • C# Anyway to detect if an object is locked.

    - by scope-creep
Hi, Is their anyway to determine if a object is locked in c#. I have the unenviable position, through design where i'm reading from a queue inside a class, and I need to dump the contents into a collection in the class. But that collection is also read/write from an interface outside the class. So obviously their may be a case when the collection is being written to, as the same time i want to write to it. I could program round it, say using delegate but it would be ugly. Bob.

  • Using Javascript to detect the bottom of the window and ignoring all events when a request is loading

    - by Aaron Reba
I have an anonymous function to detect the user has scrolled to the bottom of the window. Inside of the anonymous function, I have a call to a database that takes a while to complete. var allowing_more = 1; $(window).scroll(function() { if (allowing_more == 1){ if ($(window).scrollTop() + $(window).height() == $(document).height()) { allowing_more = 0; //query allowing_more = 1; } } }); In this time, if the user scrolls to the bottom of the window again, it seems a queue is made holding the occurences the user scrolled to the bottom of the window while the query was loading. Upon completing of the query, these occurences are then executed. I have a boolean statement to detect if the anonymous function is accepting more query requests but this seems to be ignored. Is there some sort of way to ignore an anonymous function temporarily and re-enable it?

  • Understanding configuration for parallel calling in web app (IIS + MS SQL)

    - by mmcteam.com.ua
We have an ASP.NET MVC application + IIS 7.5 + SQL Server 2008 R2. We have to load a lot of aggregate counters on the each page. We decided to use ajax and call with javascript for each counter or groups of counters and return them as JSON result. We solve the problem that user doesn't wait for page loading, page loads fast. User waits for counters loading while seeing other page content. But we thought that if we make calls from javascript - our queries will be make async, but we notice, that it is not. All our javascipt calls runs immediately, but action that they invoke are in queue. If we use Async Controller ability - all counters calculating simultaneously, but user has to wait for the longest counter calculating before page loads. The question: We want to understand what is happens if we use ajax and call two or more actions simultaneously. And how can we configuring this. (also in each action we make some queries to sql server)

  • How can an SQL query return data from multiple tables

    - by Fluffeh
I would like to know how to get data from multiple tables in my database, what types of methods are there to do this, what are joins and unions and how are they different from one another? When should I use each one compared to the others? I am planning to use this in my (for example - PHP) application, but don't want to run multiple queries against the database, what options do I have to get data from multiple tables in a single query? Note: I am writing this as I would like to be able to link to a well written guide on the numerous questions that I constantly come across in the PHP queue, so I can link to this for further detail when I post an answer. The answers cover off the following: Part 1 - Joins and Unions Part 2 - Subqueries Part 3 - Tricks and Efficient Code

Here is my code function amba_adding_styles() { wp_register_script( 'jquery-ui-css', 'http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.3/themes/smoothness/jquery-ui.css'); // Register the style like this for a plugin: wp_register_style( 'custom-style', plugins_url( '/css/custom-style.css', __FILE__ ), array(), '20120208', 'all' ); // For either a plugin or a theme, you can then enqueue the style: wp_enqueue_style( 'jquery-ui-css' ); // For either a plugin or a theme, you can then enqueue the style: wp_enqueue_style( 'custom-style' ); } add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'amba_adding_styles' ); However, jquer-ui.css doesnt load. • How to tell if there is an available thread in a thread pool in java

    - by Gormcito
    I am trying to proccess a queue of tasks from a database table as fast as possible while also limiting the number of threads to process the tasks. I am using a fixed sized thread pool with Executors.newFixedThreadPool(N); I want to know if there is a way of knowing if the thread pool is full, by that I mean are there currently 50 threads running, if so then I'll wait for a thread to be available before starting a new one instead of sleeping the main thread. Code of what I would like to do: ExecutorService executor = Executors.newFixedThreadPool(N); ResultSet results; while( true ) { results = getWaitingTasksStmt.executeQuery(); while( results.next() && executor.notFull() ) { executor.submit( new thread( new runnableInheritedClass(results) ) ); } }

  • How should I mock out my data connectivity

    - by BobTheBuilder
I'm trying to unit test my Data Access Layer and I'm in the process of trying to mock my data connectivity to unit test my DAL and I'm coming unstuck trying to mock out the creation of the commands. I thought about using a queue of IDbParameters for the creation of the parameters, but the unit tests then require that the parameters are configured in the right order. I'm using MOQ and having looked around for some documentation to walk me through this, I'm finding lots of recommendation not to do this, but to write a wrapper for the connection, but it's my contention that my DAL is supposed to be the wrapper for my database and I don't feel I should be writing wrappers... if I do, how do I unit test the connectivity to the database for my wrapper? By writing another wrapper? It seems like it's turtles all the way down. So does anyone have any recommendations or tutorials regarding this particular area of unit testing/mocking?

  • any way to simplify this with a form of dynamic class instantiation?

    - by gnychis
I have several child classes that extend a parent class, forced to have a uniform constructor. I have a queue which keeps a list of these classes, which must extend MergeHeuristic. The code that I currently have looks like the following: Class<? extends MergeHeuristic> heuristicRequest = _heuristicQueue.pop(); MergeHeuristic heuristic = null; if(heuristicRequest == AdjacentMACs.class) heuristic = new AdjacentMACs(_parent); if(heuristicRequest == SimilarInterfaceNames.class) heuristic = new SimilarInterfaceNames(_parent); if(heuristicRequest == SameMAC.class) heuristic = new SameMAC(_parent); Is there any way to simplify that to dynamically instantiate the class, something along the lines of: heuristic = new heuristicRequest.somethingSpecial(); That would flatten that block of if statements.

  • Recording app sound in iphone

    - by user292127
Hi, I am developing a music mixing app in iphone. It'll mix the music and user can compose a new music from it. I need to record this final music. I had used AVAudiorecorder to record this one. But no change. It can record sound from microphone but I need to record app sound. I had used audio queue call back function to record the audio. But when app runs I can hear the audio from my app and I couldn't hear any sound from recorded audio. There is no problem with recording since I can hear the audio recorded through microphone. But I need an offline recorder which can record the audio output of iphone, rather than the audio input through microphone. I need a recorder which can record audio using ipod touch (no microphone). Any help?

  • Manually manipulating ArrayList

    - by jsan
I have an assignment where I have to create a deque, however I am not allowed to use any built-in classes or interfaces. I am implementing my deque using an array list. My problem is that when I have to, for instance, add to the beginning of the array list (beginning of the queue), i am not allowed to do this: public void addFirst(ArrayList<Integer> array) { array.add(0, int); } Is there a way to do this without using the add() function? Such as manually adding to the front and shifting the rest of the array to the right? Or maybe creating a new array list and copying...I'm not sure. Any help would be great; I have a bunch of functions to write, and getting the first one done will definitely put me in the right direction. Thanks

  • Do something when phone reaches a set of location?

    - by Pentium10
I have a list of coordinates in the database identified as POI. For a city could be 100 records. I would like to get notified when the phone gets in 150 meters range of one of the location. The location coordinates too has an error/radius, usually 10 to 100meters. Since I don't find it good to add each location(could be hundreds) for a trigger, how can I optimize the wake-up code? Also do I have options to remove a previously setup notification from the queue?

  • Chicago SQL Saturday

    - by Johnm
This past Saturday, April 17, 2010, I journeyed North to the great city of Chicago for some SQL Server fun, learning and fellowship. The Chicago edition of this grassroots phenomenon was the 31st scheduled SQL Saturday since the program's birth in late 2007. The Chicago SQL Saturday consisted of four tracks with eight sessions each and was a very energetic and fast paced day for the 300+/- SQL Server enthusiasts in attendance. The speaker line up included national notables such as Kevin Kline, Brent Ozar, and Brad McGehee. My hometown of Indianapolis was well represented in the speaker line up with Arie Jones, Aaron King and Derek Comingore. The day began with a very humorous keynote by Kevin Kline and Brent Ozar who emphasized the importance of community events such as SQL Saturday and the monthly user group meetings. They also brilliantly included the impact that getting involved in the SQL community through social media can have on your professional career. My approach to the day was to try to experience as much of the event as I could, so there were very few sessions that I attended for their full duration. I leaped from session to session like a bumble bee, gleaning bits of nectar from each session. Amid these leaps I took the opportunity to briefly chat with some of the in-the-queue speakers as well as other attendees that wondered the hallways. I especially enjoyed a great discussion with Devin Knight about his plans regarding the upcoming Jacksonville SQL Saturday as well as an interesting SQL interpretation of the Iron Chef, which I think would catch on like wild-fire. There were two sessions that stood out as exceptional. So much so that I could not pull myself away: Kevin Kline presented on "SQL Server Internals and Architecture". This session could have been classified as one that is intended for the beginner. Kevin even personally warned me of such as I entered the room. I am a believer in revisiting the basics regardless of the level of your mastery, so I entered into this session in that spirit. It was a very clear and precise presentation. Masterfully illustrated and demonstrated. Brad McGehee presented on "How and When to Use Indexed Views". This was a topic that I was recently exploring and was considering to for use in an integration project. Brad effectively communicated the complexity of this feature and what is involved to gain their full benefit. It was clear at the conclusion of this session that it was not the right feature for my specific needs. Overall, the event was a great success. The use of volunteers, from an attendee's perspective was masterful. The only recommendation that I would have for the next Chicago SQL Saturday would be to include more time in between sessions to permit some level of networking among the attendees, one-on-one questions for speakers and visits to the sponsor booths. Congratulations to Wendy Pastrick, Ted Krueger, and Aaron Lowe for their efforts and a very successful SQL Saturday!

  • Open the LOV of af:inputListOfValues with a double click

    - by frank.nimphius
To open the LOV popup of an af:inputListOfValues component in ADF Faces, you either click the magnifier icon to the right of the input field or tab onto the icon and press the Enter key. If you want to open the same dialog in response to a user double click into the LOV input field, JavaScript is a friend. For this solution, I assume you created an editable table or input form that is based on a View Object that contains at least one attribute that has a model driven list of values defined. The Default List Type is should be set to Input Text with List of Values so that when the form or table gets created, the attribute is rendered by the af:inputListOfValues component. To implement the use case, drag a Client Listener component from the Operations accordion in the Component Palette and drop it onto the af:inputListOfValues component in the page. In the opened Insert Client Listener dialog, define the Method as handleLovOnDblclickand choose dblClick in the select list for the Type attribute. Add the following code snippet to the page source directly below the af:document tag. <af:document id="d1">      <af:resource type="javascript">     function handleLovOnDblclick(evt){             var lovComp = evt.getSource();             if (lovComp instanceof AdfRichInputListOfValues &&          lovComp.getReadOnly()==false){           AdfLaunchPopupEvent.queue(lovComp, true);        }     }      </af:resource> The JavaScript function is called whenever the user clicks into the LOV field. It gets the source component reference from the event object that is passed into the function and verifies the LOV component is not read only. It then queues the launch event for the LOV popup to open. The page source for the LOV component is shown below: <af:inputListOfValues id="departmentIdId" … >   <f:validator binding="…"/>   …  <af:clientListener method="handleLovOnDblclick" type="dblClick"/> </af:inputListOfValues>

  • SQL SERVER – Best Reference – Wait Type – Day 27 of 28

    - by pinaldave
I have great learning experience to write my article series on Extended Event. This was truly learning experience where I have learned way more than I would have learned otherwise. Besides my blog series there was excellent quality reference available on internet which one can use to learn this subject further. Here is the list of resources (in no particular order): sys.dm_os_wait_stats (Book OnLine) – This is excellent beginning point and official documentations on the wait types description. SQL Server Best Practices Article by Tom Davidson – I think this document goes without saying the BEST reference available on this subject. Performance Tuning with Wait Statistics by Joe Sack – One of the best slide deck available on this subject. It covers many real world scenarios. Wait statistics, or please tell me where it hurts by Paul Randal – Notes from real world from SQL Server Skilled Master Paul Randal. The SQL Server Wait Type Repository… by Bob Ward – A thorough article on wait types and its resolution. A MUST read. Tracking Session and Statement Level Waits by by Jonathan Kehayias – A unique article on the subject where wait stats and extended events are together. Wait Stats Introductory References By Jimmy May – Excellent collection of the reference links. Great Resource On SQL Server Wait Types by Glenn Berry – A perfect DMV to find top wait stats. Performance Blog by Idera – In depth article on top of the wait statistics in community. I have listed all the reference I have found in no particular order. If I have missed any good reference, please leave a comment and I will add the reference in the list. Read all the post in the Wait Types and Queue series. • SQL SERVER – WRITELOG – Wait Type – Day 17 of 28

    - by pinaldave
WRITELOG is one of the most interesting wait types. So far we have seen a lot of different wait types, but this log type is associated with log file which makes it interesting to deal with. From Book On-Line: WRITELOG Occurs while waiting for a log flush to complete. Common operations that cause log flushes are checkpoints and transaction commits. WRITELOG Explanation: This wait type is usually seen in the heavy transactional database. When data is modified, it is written both on the log cache and buffer cache. This wait type occurs when data in the log cache is flushing to the disk. During this time, the session has to wait due to WRITELOG. I have recently seen this wait type’s persistence at my client’s place, where one of the long-running transactions was stopped by the user causing it to roll back. In the future, I will see if I could re-create this situation once again on my machine to validate the relation. Reducing WRITELOG wait: There are several suggestions to reduce this wait stats: Move Transaction Log to Separate Disk from mdf and other files. Avoid cursor-like coding methodology and frequent committing of statements. Find the most active file based on IO stall time based on the script written over here. You can also use fn_virtualfilestats to find IO-related issues using the script mentioned over here. Check the IO-related counters (PhysicalDisk:Avg.Disk Queue Length, PhysicalDisk:Disk Read Bytes/sec and PhysicalDisk :Disk Write Bytes/sec) for additional details. Read about them over here. There are two excellent resources by Paul Randal, I suggest you understand the subject from those videos. The links to videos are here and here. Note: The information presented here is from my experience and there is no way that I claim it to be accurate. I suggest reading Book OnLine for further clarification. All the discussion of Wait Stats in this blog is generic and varies from system to system. It is recommended that you test this on a development server before implementing it to a production server. • How To: LIC of India Online Policy Payments And Status Enquiries

    - by Kavitha
Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India is the largest state-owned insurance company in India and also the country’s largest investor.
