  • CMS/Wiki to use for a HTML5 video site

    Greetings. I want to put up a website with instructive screencasts, and allow for people to add comments to them. I would like use the Video for Everybody technique, partly because I dislike Flash and because it helps in a small way to move the web forward [while being backwards compatable]. I recognize that HTML5 is still in draft, and that support for it varies. I do have some hosting space, and can run Perl, PHP, and Ruby on Rails applications, with a MySQL backend. I should mention that part of my working job involves running some web servers, and that I am a programmer by training (with only a limited familiarity with Perl and PHP, and none with Ruby). I should mention why I don't particularly want to go with a video hosting site (like YouTube or Vimeo): Flash Video Resolution and Quality [I'd like to put up 800x600 videos] Videos promote a club that is not stricly non-profit [ie. may fall afoul of Terms of Service] I'm already paying for web hosting, and free video hosting comes with time and bandwidth limits I don't want there to be two locations where you can comment on the video Now, having said all that, I'd be quite comfortable putting up my own HTML pages, except: that's so web 1.0! :) [ie. it does not allow for comments] I also want to do some blogging and possibly put up a wiki; the site will not be entirely screencasts So, can anyone recommend a CMS (or Wiki, or similar application) that I can customise for this purpose?

    Sorry to ask this... I manage Apache and PHP in my computer. But having installed a lot of things, I've lost track of some of them. (Things I find really useful to have at my job, or to restore in case of emergency). The problem is that I have installed this thing which displays PHP errors in a nice and colored html table, but can't remember what I have installed or configured to get it work like it.     I am trying to install memcache on my VPS. When I type $ pecl install memcache I get this error checking whether the C compiler works... configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs.     Is it possible to use URL Rewrite to provide more complex query string functionality than the "Append query string" checkbox that it has? Specifically, is it possible to specify the keys for certain query string parameters and have it only append those name value pairs. For example, for the input: http://www.example.org/test?alpha=1&beta=2&gamma=3 and the list of query string parameter keys: beta gamma it should output: http://www.example.org/redirect?beta=2&gamma=3 (Note that the query string parameters in the input appear in arbitrary order.)

    When I configure IIS to run a Web site on Port 1414, I get the following error: --------------------------- Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager --------------------------- The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070020) However, as according to netstat the port is not in use. Completely aside from IIS, I wrote a test program (just to open the port and test it): TcpListener tcpListener; tcpListener = new TcpListener(IPAddress.Any, port); try { tcpListener.Start(); Console.WriteLine("Press \"q\" key to quit."); ConsoleKeyInfo key; do { key = Console.ReadKey(); } while (key.KeyChar != 'q'); } catch (Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex.Message); } tcpListener.Stop(); The result was an exception and the following ex.Message: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions The port was available but its "access permissions" are not allowing me access. This remains after several restarts. The port is not reserved or in use as far as I know and while IIS says it is in use, netstat and my test program say it is not and my test program receives the error that I am not allowed to access the port. The test program ran elevated. The IIS Site is running MQSeries, but the MQ listener also cannot start on port 1414 because of this issue. A quick search of my registry found nothing interesting for port 1414. What are socket access permissions and how can I correct mine to allow access?

    I'm trying to install a driver for a USB DAQ box, which annoyingly, I have to compile myself.   • Permissions denied on apache rewrite module virtual host configuration

  • Site hanging in iis7 - how do I troubleshoot?

    I am currently having a problem with a windows 2008 server running IIS 7. The server runs several sites but only seems to have the issue with one particular site. Every so often, the whole server slows to a crawl with nearly all requests timing out! Invariably, when we log in to take a look there is always an IIS process using up around 90% cpu. Looking into the worker processes in IIS there are usually one or two requests that have been running for a long time. They are always in the ExecuteRequestHandler state with ManagedPipeline as the module name and the current ones i'm looking at have been running for 7686248 (what units is this in, it doesn't say?). It is also not always the same page, in fact we have seen at least 3 different pages listed under url when this has happened. It seems that the only way to bring the server back to life is to kill the 90% process! The site is running under .Net 4.0 and the code on it is very similar to other sites on the server which do not have the problem! How do I start troubleshooting this?

READ EVERYTHING I SAY AND SEE IF YOU CAN HELP ME WITHOUT VISITING THE LINK. AVG PICKS UP ON IT AND BLOCKS IT, MCAFEE DOES NOT. Sorry about the warning, obviously i'm not here to get anyone infected or anything like that. Basically I run the website sortitoutsi dot net. Ages ago I got a virus on my computer, they got hold of my FTP passwords and added some lines of javascript to the top of my site. I removed them and believe it was fixed. However i'm using the "Web Developer" extension for Firefox and chose to view all javascript on my page and find there are various links to horrible urls such as: gittigidiyor-com.excite.co.jp.webmasterworld-com.eastmusicdirect.ru:8080/aboutus.org/aboutus.org/google.com/skycn.com/torrents.ru.php and gittigidiyor-com.excite.co.jp.webmasterworld-com.eastmusicdirect.ru:8080/index.php?jl= These terms do not appear anywhere. In the source code, in any of the javascript or the css. I also can't see that there are any rogue images that I don't recognise either. So i've no idea where this javascript is coming from. Can anyone suggest how I can find references to these links and remove them? I can see them both in the Web Developer firefox extension and in the net tab using Firebug. Any help would be greatly appreciated

This URL has been identified as a phishing site and is currently involved in identity theft activities. URL: hxxp://111.11.111.111/www.connet-itunes.fr/iTunesConnect.woasp/ //IP is modified (not real) This site is being used to display false or spoofed content in an apparent effort to steal personal and financial information. This matter is URGENT. We believe that individuals are being falsely directed to this page and may be persuaded into divulging personal information to a criminal, if the content is not immediately disabled. Trying to understand. Some hacker hacked VPS, placed some file (?) with content that redirects to www.connet-itunes.fr/iTunesConnect.woasp? Then questions 1) how can I find the file? Where it may be located? url is URL: hxxp://111.11.111.111/ IP address, not domain name 2) What to do to protect VPS (with CentOS)? Any tutorial? Where may be security problem?     When I run php -v I get: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib64/php/modules/apc.so' - /usr/lib64/php/modules/apc.so: undefined symbol: php_pcre_exec in Unknown on line 0 This isn't my first rodeo. I've setup APC multiple times. This is a MediaTemple Dedicated Virtual 4.0 with Plesk 11. Plesk 11 is the only thing essentially different from the other servers I've set this up on. I've verified that pcre-devel is installed. I've compiled APC from source as well as used pecl to install it. No difference. I also tried downgrading to APC 3.0.19, with no love.

  • RAM module randomly stopped working

    My laptop is a Dell Inspiron e1505. It came with 2x512 MB of RAM installed, and about a year and a half ago I decided to upgrade it to 2x1 GB. I bought two 1GB memory modules from newegg and installed them, and all worked fine. Just last night my laptop was working fine; this morning I booted up and there was a BIOS warning saying "amount of system memory has changed". I tried reseating the modules, but that didn't fix it. Then I removed each one individually, and determined that one of the sticks appears to no longer be working. This happened very abruptly - I hadn't noticed any problems which might have been indicative of impending failure. Does anybody have any clue what may have caused this, and if there's any hope of making it work again? The memory only had a 30 day warranty, so I can't RMA it.

  • Windows VPN for remote site connection drawbacks

    I'm looking for some thoughts on a particular way of setting up a estate of machines. We have a requirement to install machines into unmanned, remote locations. These machines will auto login and perform tasks controlled from a central server. In order to manage patching, AV, updates etc I want these machines to be joined to a dedicated domain for this estate. Some of the locations will only have 3G connectivity (via other hardware), others will be located on customer premises in internal networks. The central server (of ours) and the Domain Controller will be on a public WAN. I see two ways of facilitating this. Install a router at each location and have a site to site VPN between the remove device and the data centre where the servers are location Have the remote machine dial up and authenticate via a Windows VPN connection to the DC via RAS Option one is more costly to setup and has a higher operational cost. It also offers better diagnostics if the remote PC goes down. Option two works well but is solely dependent on the VPN connection been made before any communication can be made to the remote machine. In a simple test, I can got a Windows 7 machine to dial a VPN prior to authentication to a domain, then automatically login to the machine using domain credentials. If the VPN connection drops, it redials. I can also create a timed task to auto connect every hour in case of other issues. I'd like to know, why (if at all) is operating a remote network of devices which are located in various out of band locations in this way a bad idea? Consider 300-400 remote machines all at different sites. I'd rather have 400 VPN connections to a 2008 server than 400 routers, however I'd like to know other opinions on this.

    I need to develop software in C/C++ for an embedded system. I have Debian 6 running off of a USB hard drive. I would like to be able to generate a stripped-down kernel with modules, and install them either on a CF card or a USB 'thumb' drive. I succeeded in building a Linux 3.6 kernel and running it in Debian off of the USB hard drive, but I am having trouble figuring out how to install it on the thumb drive. I would like a build cycle that looks like this: 1) Build module or kernel with desired software 2) Install it on thumb drive 3) Boot and test I would like to use the same system for both development and testing, if that is feasible.   • Nginx map module 301 redirecting

    I've rebuild my website in Ruby on Rails and now I want to 301 redirect a lot of old urls using Nginx's http://wiki.nginx.org/HttpMapModule For some reason I can't get it to work. It works fine without the rewrite ^ $new permanent; line. Does anyone see what I'm missing?   • Apache rewrite module, 404 not found

    I've been having some problems with rewriting directory styled addresses into query strings for my php scripts. Here's the code RewriteRule ^(\w+)/?(\w+)?/?(\w+)?/?$ /index.php?section=$1&category=$2&subcategory=$3 [QSA] This line works perfectly fine on both my local wamp and lamp server, and my friend's lamp server. However on the web hotel I've been using (freehostia) I only get a 404 error when trying to browse a "directory" that isn't really there (supposed to be generated by php). I've tried connecting their support but they only say 3rd party applications aren't their job. I know rewriteEngine is turned on because some basic redirect attempts have worked. Perhaps this line of code could be better written? It's quite important that extra queries are appended and would be nice (but not necessary) if the last slash could be left out. Any help is appreciated :)

  • Can't access site internally, but DNS works

    1) I have apache2 running a vhost for a website. 2) This apache2 instance is already successfuly setup for other websites on it to be accessible internally and externally. 3) I am using an internal bind9 server to resolve the new website's domain internally to the private IP. This bind9 server is not public facing, nor is it the master server on the internet. 4) The DNS internally resolves to the right IP. 5) Firefox reports "server not found". 6) I have copied the config almost identically to other configs that are known to work (adjusting for proper paths of course). In turn I have reloaded and restarted apache2 repeatedly. 7) I have an entry to forward .org .info .net alternative TLDs to .com in the vhost config for this domain, and my browser goes from .org to .com despite note #5. 8) /var/log/apache2/access.log shows when someone externally tries to access the site, but no activity is observed when someone tries to access internally. Changing the log level does not appear to improve the situation. 9) I am out of ideas, nothing appears to be wrong. Please help? To be explicit. Why is this new site unreachable internally? I would like to clarify on something, even though I have already outlined this. YES I know this system is in a private network. NO it is not going through a router. YES I am using an internal DNS server (bind9) to resolve, and YES it does resolve to the proper internal IP. YES other websites on the same server setup in the same way with internal resolution work right now and have done for a while. Everything for this domain is setup the same as the other working domains as far as I can tell. The other working domains are internally AND externally accessible. This domain I am working with is only currently externally accessible. When I go to it internally firefox tells me "Server not found".

    Hi, I'm having pretty similar problems as described in case 139099, but the fix there doesn't seem to work for me. Here's the details: Server: Win2003Srv R2 SP2 (stadalone, not a member of a domain). IIS6, TCP/443 (https). Anonymous access disabled. Integrated Windows authentication enabled. Local useraccouts Each useraccount has own virtual folder with change access and read access to site root. The 'adsutil NTAuthenticationProviders "NTLM"' -thing set to site root and useraccount's virtual folder. Client: Win7 Enterprise Member of a AD-Domain IE8 Allows three login attepts then fails. Using [webservername][username] in the logon window (Windows security) Logon using other browsers (Chrome and Firefox) works OK. The Web services log shows one 401.2 and two 401.1 events. The Security Event log shows two events, first is Fauilure Audit (680), The second event is Fauilure Audit (529) with these details: Logon Failure: Reason: Unknown user name or bad password User Name: [username] Domain: [webservername] Logon Type: 3 Logon Process: NtLmSsp Authentication Package: NTLM Workstation Name: [MyWorkstation] Caller User Name: - Caller Domain: - Caller Logon ID: - Caller Process ID: - Transited Services: - Source Network Address: [999.999.999.999] Source Port: 20089 Any ideas appreciated.

  • Windows module installer delaying login, server 2008 R2

    We updated our servers this weekend (windows updates), everything went fine except one of our terminal servers now hangs at login with the message, "waiting for windows modules installer." It eventually times out and leaves an event log message that the service has stopped unexpectedly. I have disabled the service and users can now login in a reasonable time frame. However we will need to re-enable the service in order to install further updates. I'm not sure where to start with this one, I'm an entry level admin and my colleagues are on vacation today, thank God this isn't a serious problem. Further details: -It affects all users. -The only third party software on the server is our ERP software and screwdrivers from Tricerat. -The only event log message is that the service has stopped unexpectedly. -The server manager screen does not display any information about roles it just says, "error". -The remote desktop roles all seem to be functioning properly, Remote app works as well as standard RDP. Let me know if there is any further details I can provide, I will be checking this frequently throughout the day.

However, the module is sometimes loaded using Import-Module MyModule -Force (actually, this is in the install script of the module). In this case, the call to Update-FormatData fails with this error : Update-FormatData : There were errors in loading the format data file: Microsoft.PowerShell, c:\pathto\myfile.Types.ext.ps1xml : File skipped because it was already present from "Microsoft.PowerShell".   • rsync per-site configuration file?

    I know how to configure a per-site entry for ssh, but is there any kind of a client configuration for rsync that allows per-site configuration options and aliases or similar shortcuts like the .ssh/config? I'm curious because I have a minimal ssh server installed on my android phone and I also have a minimal rsync tool on it as well. I'm getting tired of having to root login onto the phone and sym-link both tools to standard places the android OS looks for executables as the ssh server is bare bones and has a typical *bear multi-link binary for the basic unix commands (that does not include rsync) I end up having to include --rsync-path=/path/to/rsync/android/files/rsync every time I want to do any rsyncing of the files on my phone, but this path is always the same. I've gotten around it in the meantime with a glob approach in a shell script wrapper, but this sometimes limits the customization I can do with the rsync call. I'm just wondering if there is anything similar to the .ssh/config file where I can create an alias for my phone (e.g. 'android') where specifying rsync android:/mnt/sdcard will automatically assume --rsync-path=/blah/blah/blah --no-g --no-p --no-t etc. Tre`
