  • Windows Server 2003 - Give User Full Admin Privileges

    I am running Windows Server 2003. There are a couple of user accounts that I would like to promote to Administrator accounts. I've tried several ways to do so, but I am still relatively new to setting up a server. If anyone has any ideas on how to go about promoting these users, I thank you in advance. EDIT: I should probably mention that this a domain controller. I didn't realize that this changed the answer I was looking for. I apologize, like I said before I am new to the world of servers. EDIT #2: I've added the users to the Administrator group like most of the answer recommended, but the users don't seem to have admin rights yet. I think this might be because they are also in the Domain Users group, which I can't seem to be able to remove them from.

  • Domain controller policies having administrative issues with program installations

    I have an issue with our domain and policies where a user needs administrative rights to install a program and someone provides the credentials for the 'run as admin' or 'run as other user' it will always show an error: Cannot find specified file on the drive. So we cannot install programs for our employees. How I fix it is I add the user to administrators, force a policy update, have them reboot, run as administrator and install it that way. Then remove them after and update the policy. Another way was to right click the install file (.exe/.msi) and add the user and administrator as an owner with full control. Only works when we have the installation file. I have no idea how to fix this and I can't find a relevant thread or QA about this problem. I can only find users having issues on their home computers not on a domain. Any help and threads to read would be great!

    in active directory 2000 server i have 5 groups of users and every user has different policies. The problem is that a different desktop loads for only one specific user no matter what changes i make in administrative templates. If i copy this user profile and paste it to another group with a different name windows workaround loads as it should but some policies are not applied. Does anybody know a way to solve this problem instead of creating a new group and user from scratch?

    i installed on my subnet a win 2003 server as the domain controller, with dhcp and dns options too. the clients, win xp pro and and win 2003 server. in my clients when i log in via the domain, i don't have the option to share folders in the netwrok! i want to share folders this way: right lcick on the fodler Properties Sharing Share how can i make it appear? (if i log in to the computer as the administrator i do have this option) p.s. please be specific for how to enable it, thanks a lot :) nahman.

  • XP Clients can't copy to networkshare

    i have a windows 2003 domain where i have strange problem. One of our file shares is on a 2003r2 domain controller, xp clients trying to copy files on the share are always getting the error error copying file or folder filename could not be copied. path too long while windows 7 clients work fine. Nothing unusal is found in the eventlog on both the server and the client. It doesn't matter if i access the share by fqdn or ip, the path is including filename shorter than 20 characters i.e. \path\share\file.txt Copying files to other servers is fine. Reading from the shares is ok too. Happened from one day to the other, one windows update that was installed this day (kb2736233) was removed but nothing changed. thanks for any tips

    Hey MVC experts. I two database entities that i need to represent and i need to output them in a single page. I have something like this Views Def ViewA ViewB Test ViewC I want to ViewC to display ViewA, which displays ViewB.   • Dynamically load nib for iPhone/iPad within view controller

    Hello I have converted an iPhone application using the wizard like thing in XCode into a universal app. It builds fine but obviously looks a bit rubbish in some areas :) I need to load nibs according to which device is being used. I dont wish to create my view controllers using initWithNib as I already have code to create the controllers with some data (initWithMyLovelyData) which doesnt do anything to do with nib loading. I know to find out the device you use UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOT() so I tried overriding the initWithNibName within the actual view controllers themselves, assuming they get called internally somehow. But it's not working as I guess I am unsure of the syntax. I have tried if(ipad..) self = [super initWithNibName:@"MyIpadNib" bundle:nibBundleOrNil]; And that doesnt work :/ EDIT - I know I have massively edited this, made my question a bit more specific after doing some more research - apologies!

    hi guys , i asked this question yesterday but it doesnt seem to have asked properly so im trying again in my app im parsing in an xml file , in that file there is a path for an image to download an in my tableview controler i have this to download the image and display it in the cell NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:aStory.picture]; NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:url]; UIImage *img = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:data]; im then pushing another view controller on the top and displaying some text in a text view , but i also want to take the image from the cell selected and put that in there too , but everything i try does not work. any ideas on how i can do this Thanks in advance Richard

    I am trying to implement a split view controller like UISplitViewController on the iPad, but I don't want the left pane to be hidden when the device is in portrait orientation. So I've created a UIViewController subclass for this in IB and it works fine without any sub-view controllers. Now I'm trying to wrap my head around what is required to setup and manage the two UIViewController objects for the left and right panes. In my app, they are going to both be UINavigationController with a UITableView in them. I've hit a mental road block about how to set this up and was hoping someone could point me to some sample code or give me a recommendation for architecture here...

  • JavaFX FXML communication between Application and Controller classes

    I am trying to get and destroy an external process I've created via ProcessBuilder in my FXML application close, but it's not working. This is based on the helpful advice Sergey Grinev gave me here. I have tried running with/without the "// myController.setApp(this);" and with "// super.stop();" at top of subclass and at bottom (see commented out/in for that line in MyApp), but no combination works. This probably isn't related to FXML or JavaFX, though I imagine this is a common pattern for developing apps on JavaFX. I suppose I'm asking for a Java best practice for closing dependent processes in a UI-based app like this one (in this case: FXML / JavaFX based), where there is a controller class and an application class. Can you explain what I'm doing wrong? Or better: advise what I should be doing instead? Thanks.     Documentation says: The Grails team discourages the embedding of core application logic inside controllers, as it does not promote re-use and a clean separation of concerns. I have one API controller and a few Groovy classes in src/groovy folder. Those classes just implements my application logic so actions in API controller works in this way: //index page def index = { render new IndexApi().index(params) as JSON } I'm curious - is there any reason to move my application logic from plain groovy classes into services ?

    I'm making a core-data application that is view based. I can create the managedObjectContext and 'use' it in the app delegate, but can not pass it to the mainviewcontroller. Probably something simple, but I can't find the problem after looking for quite a while. The managedObjectModel is nil in the mainviewcontroller.     I'm new to AngularJS. In my efforts to learn, I've relied on the AngularJS tutorials. Now, I'm trying to build an app using the AngularSeed project template. I'm trying to make my project as modular as possible. For that reason, my controllers are broken out into several files. It feels like I need to have my controllers in a module and pass that module in my app.config in the app.js file. However, a) I'm not sure if that allowed and b) I'm not sure how to do it.

  • Checking for nulls in ASP.NET MVC Controllers

    Another opinion question: What is the proper (in your opinion) to check for nulls in an MVC controller. For instance, if you have an edit controller that fetches a record from the db based on an id, what do you do if that record is not found? I found this article, but I'm not sure I like that method. Do you just check for it with an if statement and redirect to a 404 page? What solution do you use?

    Hello - I need to create my own UIView class and it is not something I have had to do. I created the class, then laid out the small view in IB (it's just a few labels that i will later need to add data to ). but now im stuck on how to actually put an instance of it in my main view. Can someone point me in the direction of a good tutorial? The closest thing I have done to this is creating a custom tableViewCell.   • Switching between 2 UINavigationControllers

    Hi all, I seem to have a problem switching between 2 UINavigationControllers, i.e. one which controls the main (selection) menu of my application, and the second which controls the main session (i.e. the user can't go back to the selection menu once they're started a new session). The first works just fine, but I get into trouble when trying to load the second. I have a class called GameViewController which contains the second UINavigationController instance. I set this up as usual, linking it as an IBOutlet to the delegate and setting up the NavController in the GameViewController.xib file with its 'Class' property pointing at GameScreenViewController (my main game screen), and its NIB Name property pointing to the GameScreenViewController nib file. I then create a new instance of GameViewController and load it. In IB, the navigation controller looks fine, with its View 'loaded from "GameScreenViewController"', however when the NavigationController is loaded in the game, it actually loads the GameViewController's UIWindow instance (just a blank window). I'm not sure how to make it load the Navigation Controller's view rather than its own window? Also, another quick question. When I load the second navigation controller from the first, which makes more sense to use: [self.view addSubview:gameViewController.view]; or [self presentModalViewController:gameViewController animated:YES]; Thanks for any help, much appreciated :D Michael
