  • Insert Comment Reply Form Into Page Using Jquery

    - by Joe
I have been making a threaded comment system as a way to learn php and javascript/jquery properly. Ive done bits and bobs in the past but ive made a new years resolution to learn it properly. Im having trouble inserting a reply form into the comment tree below the comment being replied to. I know this is probably pretty basic but how do you insert html into a page when someone clicks a link. This code wasn't working for me: $(document).ready(function(){ $(function() { $('a#reply').click(function() { $(this).append("the html blah"); }); }); }); Anyone see where im going wrong?

  • T4MVC calling controller methods multiple times?

    - by Maslow
I suspected there was some hidden magic somewhere that stopped what looks like actual method calls all over the place in T4MVC. Then I had a view fail to compile, and the stackTrace went into my actual method, not the generated code in T4MVC. <%=Ajax.ActionLink("Apply", "Apply", new RouteValueDictionary() { { "shortName", item.Shortname } }, new AjaxOptions() { UpdateTargetId = "masterstatus" })%> <%=Html.ActionLink("Apply",MVC.Alliance.Apply(item.Shortname),new AjaxOptions() { UpdateTargetId = "masterstatus" }) %> The second method threw an exception on compile because the method Apply in my controller has an [Authorize] attribute so that if someone that isn't logged on clicks this, they get redirected to login, then right back to this page. There they can click on apply again, this time being logged in. And yes I realize one is Ajax.ActionLink while the other is Html.ActionLink I did try them both with the T4MVC version. Is this a fluke or is it actually calling into the real methods and running my database calling code just to generate the views?

  • What is the best approach towards styling GWT applications?

    - by Ashwin
General approach in GWT is to use Panels and then apply custom CSS themes to get a customized look. While I can achieve a certain extent of personalization of my GWT app through CSS tinkering, I was wondering how others generally approach styling. Some of the suggestions I came across the web were to manage layout with plain HTML, through use of HTMLPanel's. This way one can straightaway use the HTML mock-up within the application without having to code all the layout. So what in your opinion is the best and least painful way to approach layout and custom styling of GWT application?

  • ASP.NET AJAX Doesnt Work

I have a very simple AJAX example that doesn't work. It is from the Microsoft tutorials on AJAX. When I click on button "Button1" AJAX should execute but the whole page submits. • PDF writeHTML for rendering tables

    - by sami
I'm using TCPDF and following this example which uses writeHTML and heredoc syntax to write a table. http://www.tcpdf.org/examples/example_048.phps I'm trying to do though is switch the font using setFont before writing each column. This means I have to break the html and write it on different pieces (see pseudo code). But once I break the HTML like that, it doesn't work, I think because it becomes invalid. writeHTML <tr> writeHTML first column setFont() writeHTML second column writeHTML </tr> I want to use writeHTML because it helps me write the table without having to manually construct. But how can I make modifications before I output each cell?

  • Zend + Pop Up's balloons on Server Problem

    - by LookUp Webmaster
Dear Friends from Stackoverflow, Please help me with a problem that i'm having when uploading my project to the server. I'm using pop up's balloons (http://mckay.cshl.edu/balloons.html) for a project using Zend FW and it works fine on my localhost. (I'm using MAMP on MacOSX) but when I upload the webpage to the server, the text inside the balloons is displayed but the images that form the balloon are not, so somehow the js does not recognize the url to the images (the path it's correct, i've checked several times). The server is an Ubuntu 9.04 virtual machine from rackspace.com, running a LAMP server. I'm using the REWRITE function in Apache, so i guess maybe that's the problem. The rewrite configuration is set up using a .htaccess file with the following content: SetEnv APPLICATION_ENV development Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine ON RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule !.(js|ico|txt|gif|jpg|png|css|html)$ index.php Does anyone knows what the problem might be? Best Regards,

  • Interpretation of Greek characters by FOP

    - by Geek
Hi, Can you please help me interpret the Greek Characters with HTML display as HTML= & #8062; and Hex value 01F7E Details of these characters can be found on the below URL http://www.isthisthingon.org/unicode/index.php?page=01&subpage=F&hilite=01F7E When I run this character in Apache FOP, they give me an ArrayIndexOut of Bounds Exception Caused by: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: -1 at org.apache.fop.text.linebreak.LineBreakUtils.getLineBreakPairProperty(LineBreakUtils.java:668) at org.apache.fop.text.linebreak.LineBreakStatus.nextChar(LineBreakStatus.java:117) When I looked into the FOP Code, I was unable to understand the need for lineBreakProperties[][] Array in LineBreakUtils.java. I also noticed that FOP fails for all the Greek characters mentioned on the above page which are non-displayable with the similar error. What are these special characters ? Why is their no display for these characters are these Line Breaks or TAB’s ? Has anyone solved a similar issue with FOP ?

  • Doing a generic <sql:query> in Grails

    - by melling
This is a generic way to select data from a table and show the results in an HTML table using JSP taglibs. What is the generic way to do this in Grails? That is, take a few lines of SQL and generate an HTML table from scratch in Grails, including the column names as headers. <sql:query var="results" dataSource="${dsource}" select * from foo </sql:query (# of rows: ${results.rowCount}) <table border="1" <!-- column headers -- <tr bgcolor=cyan <c:forEach var="columnName" items="${results.columnNames}" <th<c:out value="${columnName}"/</th </c:forEach </tr <!-- column data -- <c:forEach var="row" items="${results.rowsByIndex}" <tr <c:forEach var="column" items="${row}" <td<c:out value="${column}"/</td </c:forEach </tr </c:forEach </table The solution to this was answered in another StackOverFlow question. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/425294/sql-database-views-in-grails IF SOMEONE WRITES A GOOD ANSWER, I'LL ACCEPT IT. I would like a 100% acceptance on all of my questions.

  • Django-allauth redirected to connections

    - by camara90100
I'm using django-allauth to signup users with Facebook, and I'm setting the ACCOUNT_EMAIL_REQUIRED to True so when a user doesn't have email saved on his account I get redirected to the allauth/templates/socialaccount/Signup.html and when I use a test user to enter a valid email, I get redirect to "connections.html" which then asks me to choose one of the social accounts and remove it. and the form action method is set to 'connections url' so it becomes an infinite loop. anyone knows what's wrong? here's my settings SOCIALACCOUNT_PROVIDERS = \ { 'facebook': { 'SCOPE': ['email', 'publish_stream'], # 'AUTH_PARAMS': { 'auth_type': 'reauthenticate' }, 'METHOD': 'js_sdk' , 'LOCALE_FUNC': lambda request: 'en_US'}} ACCOUNT_EMAIL_REQUIRED =True ACCOUNT_ADAPTER = 'profiles.adapter.MyAccountAdapter' SOCIALACCOUNT_ADAPTER ='profiles.adapter.MySocialAccountAdapter'

  • Python Mersenne Twister implementation

    - by B Rivera
I have Python 3.1.2 and I'm using Windows XP. Where can I see Python's implementation of the Mersenne Twister? In the Python docs it is stated that the Mersenne Twister was written in C and the Python History and License ( http://docs.python.org/py3k/license.html?highlight=mersenne%20twister ) states that "The _random module includes code based on a download from http://www.math.keio.ac.jp/matumoto/MT2002/emt19937ar.html." random.py imports _random which apparently has the Mersenne Twister implementation in it. I can't seem to locate _random. Any thoughts?

  • Seam cache provider with ehcache null

    - by Cateno Viglio
Hi every one, I'm trying to configure seam/ehcache following the tutorial from jboss page: http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.1.2/reference/en-US/html/cache.html I put the ehcache.1.2.3.jar in project.ear/lib and injected CacheProvider as especified, but the CacheProvider always return null. The documentation doesn't show any aditional configuration for ehcache, just for jboss cache. I am probably doing something wrong, it's impossible be so easy :). besides put the jar in /lib, i created the following seam component to test: @Scope(ScopeType.SESSION) @Name("cacheBean") public class CacheSeamBean implements java.io.Serializable { @In(required=false, create=true) private EntityManager em; @Logger private Log log; @In private Events events; @In CacheProvider cacheProvider; Boolean blLoaded = Boolean.FALSE; @Create public void buscar() { if (!blLoaded){ List<Parametro> lstParametro = em.createQuery("select p from Parametro p").getResultList(); for (Parametro parametro : lstParametro){ cacheProvider.put(parametro.getCodigo(), parametro.getValor()); } blLoaded= Boolean.TRUE; } } } Thanks

  • How best to store Subversion version information in EAR's?

    - by Rene
When receiving a bug report or an it-doesnt-work message one of my initials questions is always what version? With a different builds being at many stages of testing, planning and deploying this is often a non-trivial question. I the case of releasing Java JAR (ear, jar, rar, war) files I would like to be able to look in/at the JAR and switch to the same branch, version or tag that was the source of the released JAR. How can I best adjust the ant build process so that the version information in the svn checkout remains in the created build? I was thinking along the lines of: adding a VERSION file, but with what content? storing information in the META-INF file, but under what property with which content? copying sources into the result archive added svn:properties to all sources with keywords in places the compiler leaves them be I ended up using the svnversion approach (the accepted anwser), because it scans the entire subtree as opposed to svn info which just looks at the current file / directory. For this I defined the SVN task in the ant file to make it more portable. <taskdef name="svn" classname="org.tigris.subversion.svnant.SvnTask"> <classpath> <pathelement location="${dir.lib}/ant/svnant.jar"/> <pathelement location="${dir.lib}/ant/svnClientAdapter.jar"/> <pathelement location="${dir.lib}/ant/svnkit.jar"/> <pathelement location="${dir.lib}/ant/svnjavahl.jar"/> </classpath> </taskdef> Not all builds result in webservices. The ear file before deployment must remain the same name because of updating in the application server. Making the file executable is still an option, but until then I just include a version information file. <target name="version"> <svn><wcVersion path="${dir.source}"/></svn> <echo file="${dir.build}/VERSION">${revision.range}</echo> </target> Refs: svnrevision: http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.1/re57.html svn info http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.1/re13.html subclipse svn task: http://subclipse.tigris.org/svnant/svn.html svn client: http://svnkit.com/

  • are there any negative implications of sourcing a javascript file that does not actually exist?

    - by dreftymac
If you do script src="/path/to/nonexistent/file.js" in an HTML file and call that in a browser, and there are no dependencies or resources anywhere else in the HTML file that expect the file or code therein to actually exist, is there anything inherently bad-practice about doing this? Yes, it is an odd question. The rationale is the developer is dealing with a CMS that allows custom (self-contained) javascript files to be provided in certain circumstances. The problem is the CMS is not very flexible when it comes to creating conditional includes for javascript. Therefore it is easier to just make references to the self-contained js files regardless of whether they are actually at the specified path. Since no errors are displayed to the user, should this practice be considered a viable option?

  • jquery performance of binding multiple click events.

    - by DA
    I have a situation where I need to bind a click event to an object multiple times. For instance: for(i=0;i<=100;i++){ $myObject.click(function(){ window.location = "myurl"+i+".html"; }) ...do other stuff... } Via that markup, does $myObject end up with 100 click events attached to it? Should I be unbinding the click event first each time? for(i=0;i<=100;i++){ $myObject.unbind('click').click(function(){ window.location = "myurl"+i+".html"; }) ...do other stuff... }

  • Injecting jQuery into a page fails when using Google AJAX Libraries API

    - by jakemcgraw
I'd like to inject jQuery into a page using the Google AJAX Libraries API, I've come up with the following solution: http://my-domain.com/inject-jquery.js: ;((function(){ // Call this function once jQuery is available var func = function() { jQuery("body").prepend('<div>jQuery Rocks!</div>'); }; // Detect if page is already using jQuery if (!window.jQuery) { var done = false; var head = document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0]; var script = document.createElement("script"); script.src = "http://www.google.com/jsapi"; script.onload = script.onreadystatechange = function(){ // Once Google AJAX Libraries API is loaded ... if (!done && (!this.readyState || this.readyState == "loaded" || this.readyState == "complete")) { done = true; // ... load jQuery ... window.google.load("jquery", "1", {callback:function(){ jQuery.noConflict(); // ... jQuery available, fire function. func(); }}); // Prevent IE memory leaking script.onload = script.onreadystatechange = null; head.removeChild(script); } } // Load Google AJAX Libraries API head.appendChild(script); // Page already using jQuery, fire function } else { func(); } })()); The script would then be included in a page on a separate domain: http://some-other-domain.com/page.html: <html> <head> <title>This is my page</title> </head> <body> <h1>This is my page.</h1> <script src="http://my-domain.com/inject-jquery.js"></script> </body> </html> In Firefox 3 I get the following error: Module: 'jquery' must be loaded before DOM onLoad! jsapi (line 16) The error appears to be specific to the Google AJAX Libraries API, as I've seen others use a jQuery bookmarklet to inject jQuery into the current page. My question: Is there a method for injecting the Google AJAX Libraries API / jQuery into a page regardless of the onload/onready state?

  • How can I append a description to a Zend_Form_Element?

    - by Mallika Iyer
I have the following Zend_Form_Element: $imginstructions = "Some description"; $img = $this->createElement('select','img'); $img->setAttrib('class', 'image-select'); $imgdecorator = $img->getDecorator('Description'); $imgdecorator->setOption('escape', false); $img->setLabel('Image:') ->setRequired(true) ->addMultiOptions($images) ->setValue('') ->setDescription($imginstructions) ->addErrorMessage('You must select an image'); $img->size = 5; $this->addElement($img); The description should appear next to the select box. The problem is : When an error is thrown, the html rendered changes so the description shows up below the select box, instead of beside it. HTML rendered before error is thrown: <dd id="img-element"> <select size="5" class="image-select" id="img" name="img" style="display: none;"> ...........options.............. </select> <p class="description">Some Description</p></dd> HTML rendered after error is thrown: <dd id="img-element"> <select size="5" class="image-select" id="img" name="img" style="display: none;"> ...........options.............. </select> <ul class="errors"><li>You must select an image</li></ul> <p class="description">Some Description</p></dd> Is there a way to force the error message to be appended as the last element in the DOM tree for the dd element? Something like: <dd id="img-element"> <select size="5" class="image-select" id="img" name="img" style="display: none;"> ...........options.............. </select> <p class="description">Some Description</p> <ul class="errors"><li>You must select an image</li></ul></dd> so the 'ul' is at the end of the dd DOM tree. Thanks, I appreciate your taking the time to respond to this question!

My code is fairly simple: File f = new File(page.sourceFileName); try { FileWriter out = new FileWriter(f); out.write(page.source); out.close(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } InputStream input = new FileInputStream(f); This is the vital excerpt from my program. I have copied this into a different test program and it works fine, I create a misc.html file and reopen it with both FileInputStream and manually. I would be worried about Administrator rights but the Test program works fine when I run it RIGHT after the problem program. I also have checked if the file exists and is a file with File methods and it is as well. Is this a result of me not closing a previous Input/Output properly? I've tried to check everything and I am fairly positive I close all streams as soon as they finish... Help! :)

  • How are java.lang.Object's protected methods protected from subclasses?

    - by Adrian Lang
The keyword protected grants access to classes in the same package and subclasses (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/javaOO/accesscontrol.html). Now, every class has java.lang.Object as superclass (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/Object.html). Hence I conclude that every class may access java.lang.Object's methods even if they are protected. Take a look at the following example: public class Testclass { public Object getOne() throws CloneNotSupportedException { return this.clone(); } public Object getTwo() throws CloneNotSupportedException { return ((Object) this).clone(); } } While getOne() compiles fine, getTwo() gives Testclass.java:6: clone() has protected access in java.lang.Object return ((Object) this).clone(); I neither understand why getTwo() doesn't compile nor what's the difference (regarding the access of java.lang.Objects members) with getOne().
