  • Maximum nametable char count exceeded

    - by doc
I'm having issues with the maximum nametable char count quota, I followed a couple of answers here and it solved the problem for a while, but now I'm having the same issue. My Server side config is as follows: <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <netTcpBinding> <binding name="GenericBinding" maxBufferPoolSize="2147483647" maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="2147483647" maxStringContentLength="2147483647" maxArrayLength="2147483647" maxBytesPerRead="2147483647" maxNameTableCharCount="2147483647" /> <security mode="None" /> </binding> </netTcpBinding> </bindings> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="false" /> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true" /> <dataContractSerializer maxItemsInObjectGraph="1000000" /> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> <services> <service name="REMWCF.RemWCFSvc"> <endpoint address="" binding="netTcpBinding" contract="REMWCF.IRemWCFSvc" bindingConfiguration="GenericBinding" /> <endpoint address="mex" binding="mexTcpBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange" /> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="net.tcp://localhost:9081/RemWCFSvc" /> </baseAddresses> </host> </service> </services> </system.serviceModel> I also have the same tcp binding on the devenv configuration. Have I reached the limit of contracts supported? Is there a way to turn off that quota? EDIT Error Message: Error: Cannot obtain Metadata from net.tcp://localhost:9081/RemWCFSvc/mex If this is a Windows (R) Communication Foundation service to which you have access, please check that you have enabled metadata publishing at the specified address. For help enabling metadata publishing, please refer to the MSDN documentation at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=65455.WS-Metadata Exchange Error URI: net.tcp://localhost:9081/RemWCFSvc/mex Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'net.tcp://localhost:9081/RemWCFSvc/mex'. There is an error in the XML document. The maximum nametable character count quota (16384) has been exceeded while reading XML data. The nametable is a data structure used to store strings encountered during XML processing - long XML documents with non-repeating element names, attribute names and attribute values may trigger this quota. This quota may be increased by changing the MaxNameTableCharCount property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader. I'm getting that error when trying to run the WCF (which is hosted in a windows service app).

  • Reliable email encoding.

    - by Seba Illingworth
What are the most reliable encodings for sending email? I had some problems recently with .NET's System.Net.Mail default of quoted-printable ('=0D=0A' scattered throughout the message). So I changed to iso-8859-1 for the body (set via alternative views), and 7bit for transfer (and base64 for embedded resources). Are there the better choices?

  • How do I "DoEvents" in WPF?

    - by SLC
I've read that the C# version is as follows: Application.Current.Dispatcher.Invoke( DispatcherPriority. Background, new Action(delegate { })); However I cannot figure out how to put the empty delegate into VB.NET, as VB.NET does not appear to support anonymous methods. Ideas? Edit: Possibly this? Application.Current.Dispatcher.Invoke( DispatcherPriority. Background, New Action(Sub() End Sub))

  • How does IIS persist a user's identity from page to page?

    - by Rising Star
Web pages are, by nature, state-less objects. When you click from page to page in an ASP.net application, each request for a page is treated as a brand-new request. We use things like cookies, session-variables, and query strings to maintain state from page to page. When you log in to an ASP.net web application using Windows Authentication, how does IIS persist your identity between pages?

  • Is the WCF REST Starter Kit dead in the water?

    - by Richard Ev
We are looking at switching from using WCF for our service layer in applications to REST. So far we are assuming that the way to do this is to use the WCF REST Starter Kit. However this is still in Preview 2 and hasn't been updated since March 2009. Is this project dead in the water? If so, what alternatives do we have for creating .NET-based REST services? (Some are suggesting using ASP.NET MVC, which we're already using for our UI layer)

  • Will "Programming in the Cloud" Ever Take off?

    - by Pierreten
Just got a chance to try out a cloud programming environment that let's you develop .net apps within the browser (http://coderun.com/ide/) I found it pretty interesting, since I was able to develop a mockup ASP.net site on an IPad. With javascript engines in browsers becoming faster and faster, cheap server infrastructure to compile on; will the cloud become the IDE platform of the future?

  • Sample code for POST + cookie?

    - by OverTheRainbow
Hello, I've been googling for some VB.Net code to authenticate to a web server with the POST method, receive a session ID in a cookie, and then send this cookie along with all GET queries... but all I found is half-working code or C# code, ie. difficult to use for a VB.Net newbie. Would someone have some code handy or some pointer that I could use to get started? Thank you.

  • Knowing the user name in a Page

    - by ctacke
Let's assume the following: I have an IIS web site set up IIS is configured to use Digest authentication I'm running an ASP.NET page The page has a code-behing assembly that overrides Page_Load When a user navigates to that page, I get a security prompt for the username and password. If the username and password are invalid (i.e. incorrect password) is there a way for the called page, in Page_Load to know, or does IIS handle this and return the 401 before the ASP.NET engine ever gets around to resolving the actual Page class that will get executed?

  • Get info about Http Post field order

    - by Eugene
Is it possible to get information about post field order in ASP.NET? I need to know whether some field was the last one or not. I know I can do it through Request.InputStream, but I’m looking for a more high level solution without manually stream parsing. Generally I’m doing testing of http post sent by my application and there is no practical usage for this in ASP.NET.
