  • ApplicationSettingsBase.Upgrade() Not Upgrading User Settings after Recompiling with .NET 4.0

    I have a C# program that is using the standard ApplicationSettingsBase to save its user settings. This was working fine under .NET 3.5. And the provided Upgrade() method would properly "reload" those settings whenever a new version of my program was created. Recently, I recompiled the program with .NET 4.0. My program's version number also increased. But, when I run this version, Upgrade() doesn't seem to to detect any previous version settings, and does not "reload" them. It starts blank. As a test, I recompiled yet again, going back to .NET 3.5. And this time, the Upgrade() method started working again. Is there a way to allow Upgrade() to work when switching frameworks? Is there something else I am missing? Thanks.

However, when trying to insert row row1 with .. $result = $cassandra->mutate(['row1'], family => 'Standard1', insertions => { "col1" => "Value to set." }); .. I get the error message Can't use string ("0") as a SCALAR ref while "strict refs" in use at .../Net/GenThrift/Thrift/BinaryProtocol.pm line 376. What am I doing wrong?

    We have a Powerbuilder 10 application that is using .Net COM assemblies. We are trying to embed the manifest in the PB application (to invoke COM assemblies without registration). The merged manifest file has added sections for dependecies on the .Net COM assemblies. We have tries various tools to inject the new manifest with different results - using GenMan32 to inject truncates the application from 6MB to 45KB. - using ResourceTuner, the file size looks okay, but trying to launch application gives "Fatal Disk Error". Any suggestions on invoked .Net ComEnabled assembly from PB without registration?

    i'm trying to take advantage of html 5 web sockets in .NET and the easiest way appears to do something like this guy does: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/webservices/c_sharp_web_socket_server.aspx?msg=3485900#xx3485900xx i've already tested this myself and it works great, but there are a few problems if i try to deploy this to my hosting site (discountasp.net). basically i am not allowed to open up a port on 8080 and listen on it. i then tried to figure out a way to listen non port 80 with IIS as well, but using the HTTPListener runs into sercurity issues as well that doesn't seem like will help since i can't mess with this stuff on the hosting site server either: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/169904/can-i-listen-on-a-port-using-httplistener-or-other-net-code-on-vista-without-r so to make my life easier, i think i need to find a hosting site that simply allows me to open up a socket on port 8080 and listen on it. anyone know of one? or anyone know of a workaround (besides sniffing ALL the traffic on port 80)?

    I am impressed by what I have seen of yeroon.net/ggplot2 which is a web interface for Hadley Wickham's R package ggplot2. I want to try it out on my own data. The part that has me very excited is that one can use data stored in one's own Google spreadsheet as the data. One just signs into their Google Account so that yeroon.net/ggplot2 can access the spreadsheet list. I have been hesitant to do it. If I sign in whilst on yeroon.net am I handing over my username and password to a third party? It would not be wise of me to divulge my google password to third parties since Google is fast becoming my repository of everything. How do I know if Jeroon's application is using ClientLogin or OAuth? My understanding is very basic and may be wrong but nevertheless here it is. OAuth would be better since it does not actually pass the password onto the third party application.

    Am trying create of PoC for exposing/invoking various .NET objects from COM clients. The .NET library contains some classes and Enums. Am able to successfully access the classes in VBScript but not able to access the Enums. I know that Enums are value types and hence 'CreateObject' wont work in this case. But am able to access the same Enum in VBA code. Questions: How can I access the enums in VBScript? Why does the behaviour differ in the two COM clients?     Hi, i'm new to vb .net and oop although i have learned the basics. I'm working in VB and .NET CF 3.5 and i'm trying to pass and received a value with showdialog. The issue here is when i'm done with a procedure in Load, for some reason MyBase.Showdialog (line 3) gives an error of "NullReferenceException was unhandled", but the same procedure doesn't have anything to do with Showdialog. Also, this same error happens with me in other forms when i use AlphaImageButton from AlphaMobileControls. I even created an custom AlphaImageButton with a DialogResult Property and set it to None with no avail.     How do you make VS 2008 automatically install SQL Server CE 3.5 when debugging (F5) a CF app on a windows Mobile 5.0 device? VS used to do this automatically, but now it stopped and I don't know why. I have changed the structure of my solution and the projects, but it is still using SQL Server CE 3.5. It used to also install the Query Analyzer as well which was useful. I frequently uninstall all the programs on the device or do hard reboots so installing this manually is what I am trying to avoid.

    I have a simple wcf service which uses basicHttp binding, I want to pass few information from client to this service via custom SOAP header. My client is a .net application targetting .Net 1.1, using visual studio I have created the proxy( Added a new web reference pointing to my WCF service) I am able to call methods in the WCF service but not able to pass the data in message header. Tried to override "GetWebRequest" and added custom headers in the proxy but for some reason when I tried to access the header using "OperationContext.Current.IncomingMessageHeaders.FindHeader" it is not thier. Any idea how to solve this prob? I get autocomplete when I add import flash.net.NetStreamPlayOptions; import flash.net.NetStreamPlayTransitions; But when I run the movie, I get: VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flash.net::NetStreamPlayOptions could not be found.     We have a .NET 2.0 application that uses the RijindaelManaged class to encrypt some sensitive data. This was fine until we ran into some machines that require the use of FIPS-compliant algorithms. We'd like to switch to AesCryptoServiceProvider, but most of our target machines haven't upgraded past .NET 2.0. Requiring an upgrade is out of the question. After all, upgrades are scary! Is there any way we could use AesCryptoServiceProvider in a .NET 2.0 application? Since 3.5 uses the 2.0 CLR, I was hoping there might be a way to build the needed libraries into the app. Failing that, could someone point me to a reference on the native API that's wrapped by AesCryptoServiceProvider?

  • Debug .Net Framework's source code only shows disassembly in Visual Studio 2010

    Hi! I'm trying to debug .Net Framework's source code using Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I followed the steps described in Raj Kaimal's post but I must be doing something wrong since the only code I'm getting to see is the disassembly code: As you can see in the image, the Go to Source Code and the Load Symbols options are disabled. Nevertheless, symbols are downloaded from Microsoft's server since I can see them inside the local cache directory. The code I'm debugging goes as follow: var wr = WebRequest.Create("http://www.google.com"); Console.WriteLine("Web request created"); var req = wr.GetRequestStream(); Console.Read(); When I hit F11 to step into the first line of code, a window pops us looking for the "WebRequst.cs" file inside "f:\dd\ndp\fx\src\Net\System\Net\WebRequest.cs" which does not exists on my machine. If the dating website does well, it'll potentially hold a large amount of data (I'm not sure if this would be another reason to consider either ASP.NET or LAMP). Anyway, I ask this from an ASP.NET developer point of view. I have very little, almost null experience with LAMP, and I don't like it very much either, so if she decides to go with PHP odds are I won't help her. So what would be some good points to bring up when deciding which platform to develop on? Please be objective, I don't want this to be argumentative or anything, try to stick to facts, not opinions alone. Thanks!

  • Postfix not sending/allowing receiving of messages after server (hardware) changed

    We had na old notebook runing Ubuntu 12.04 working as a web/ftp/mail server and it worked but since the notebook was a notebook and pretty old and unreliable, a desktop was bought to replace it before it stopped working all together. Due to issues with the new desktop's vídeo card, we couldn't use Ubuntu 12.04 so we installed Ubuntu 13.10 and wen't about configuring it. Since we removed the notebook from the network, we kept the same Computer Name and local IP address to make things as close to the old server as possible configuration-wise. However, something has gone wrong since Postfix is throwing error 451 4.3.0 lookup faillure on every attempt to send a mail, and no email can be received either. EDIT: Here are some issues MXToolBox reports to my domain, answering hopefully to @Teun Vink: BlackList Mail Server Web Server DNS Error 4 0 2 0 Warnings 0 0 0 3 Passed 0 6 3 12 So the domain is on some blacklist, but that doesn't explain the error at all No mail server issues found (except it's not working) Those two web server errors it's because i don't have HTTPS workin (No SSL Certificate) so the test fails Those 3 DNS warnings we're already there when it was working with the other machine and are related to stuff i can't control: SOA Refresh Value is outside of the recommended range SOA Expire Value out of recommended range SOA NXDOMAIN Value too high I've searched and as far as i can tell only the guys who sold the retail can change those values and they won't. Edit2: I half solved the issue.on the new machine postfix was installed but postfix-mysql waasn't so he couldn't connect to the database (rookie mistake). After fixing that, i can now send mails to the outsider without any issues, however i am still not able to receive mails from utside.
