• Problem with Google App Engine Appstats

  I'm having an issue getting Appstats to work correctly. Using /appstats or /appstats/stats ends up in an infinite loop that keeps redirecting back to /appstats/stats. This results in a 404 error saying the page isn't redirecting properly. Any idea what the issue is? Here are the relevant lines in my appengine-web.xml. • Is there a workaround for JDBC w/liquibase and MySQL session variables & client side SQL instructions

  Slowly building a starter changeSet xml file for one of three of my employer's primary schema's. The only show stopper has been incorporating the sizable library of MySQL stored procedures to be managed by liquibase. One sproc has been somewhat of a pain to deal with: The first few statements go like use TargetSchema; select "-- explanatory inline comment thats actually useful --" into vDummy; set @@session.sql_mode='TRADITIONAL' ; drop procedure if exists adm_delete_stats ; delimiter $$ create procedure adm_delete_stats( ...rest of sproc I cut out the use statement as its counter-productive, but real issue is the set @@session.sql_mode statement which causes an exception like liquibase.exception.MigrationFailedException: Migration failed for change set ./foobarSchema/sprocs/adm_delete_stats.xml::1293560556-151::dward_autogen dward: Reason: liquibase.exception.DatabaseException: Error executing SQL ... And then the delimiter statement is another stumbling block. Doing do dilligence research I found this rejected MySQL bug report here and this MySQL forum thread that goes a little bit more in depth to the problem here. Is there anyway I can use the sproc scripts that currently exist with Liquibase or would I have to re-write several hundred stored procedures? I've tried createProcedure, sqlFile, and sql liquibase tags without much luck as I think the core issue is that set, delimiter, and similar SQL commands are meant to be interpreted and acted upon by the client side interpreter before being delivered to the server.

• UIWebView/MPMoviePlayerController and the "Done" button

  I am using the UIWebView to load both streaming audio and video. I have properly set up the UIWebView delegate and I am receiving webViewDidStartLoading and webViewFinishedLoading events perfectly. The webview launches a full screen window (likely a MPMoviePlayerController) Apple's MoviePlayer example gets the array of Windows to determine which window the moviePlayerWindow is for adding custom drawing/getting at the GUI components. I believe this to be a bad practice/hack. My expectation is that I should be able to figure out when that button was clicked by either a delegate method or an NSNotification. It may also be the case that I have to poke around subviews or controllers with isKindOf calls, but I don't think those are correct approaches. Are my expectations incorrect, and if so, why? What is the correct way to bind an action to that "Done" button?

• VIM: Close file without quiting VIM application?

  I am new to VIM. I use e and w commands to edit and to write a file. It is very convenient. I am not sure if there is "close" command to close the current file without leaving VIM? I know that q command can be used to close a file. But if it is the last file, the VIM is closed as well(actually on Mac the MacVIM does quit. Only the VIM window is closed and I could use Control-N to open a blank VIM again). I would like the VIM to stay with a blank screen.

  Hi there, having a slight problem with an ASP.net page of mine. If a user were to double click on a "submit" button it will write to the database twice (i.e. carry out the 'onclick' method on the imagebutton twice) How can I make it so that if a user clicks on the imagebutton, just the imagebutton is disabled? I've tried: <asp:ImageButton runat="server" ID="VerifyStepContinue" ImageUrl=image src ToolTip="Go" TabIndex="98" CausesValidation="true" OnClick="methodName" OnClientClick="this.disabled = true;" /> But this OnClientClick property completely stops the page from being submitted! Any help? Sorry, yes, I do have Validation controls... hence the icky problem.

  I am trying to write our own RIA services provider to expose data from a server that I access via ODBC. • Configuring ASP.NET MVC ActionLink format with GoDaddy shared hosting

  Background I have a GoDaddy shared Windows hosting plan and I'm running into a small issue with multiple domains. Many people have previously reported such an issue, but I am not interested in trying to resolve that problem altogether; all I want to accomplish is to change the format of my ActionLinks. Issue Let's say the domain that is mapped to my root hosting directory is example.com. GoDaddy forces mapping of other domains to subdirectories of the root. For example, my second domain, example1.com, is mapped to example.com/example1. I uploaded my ASP.NET MVC site to such a subdirectory, only to find that ActionLinks that are for navigation have the following format: http://example1.com/example1/Controller/Action In other words, even when I use the domain that is mapped to the subdirectory, the subdirectory is still used in the URL. However, I noticed that I can also access the same path by going to: http://example1.com/Controller/Action (leaving out the subdirectory) What I want to achieve I want to have my ActionLinks automatically drop the subdirectory, as it is not required. Is this possible without changing the ActionLinks into plain-old URLs?

• Classic ASP vs. ASP.NET encryption options

  I'm working on a web site where the new pages are ASP.NET and the legacy pages are Classic ASP. Being new to development in the Windows env, I've been studying the latest technology, i.e. .NET and I become like a deer in headlights when ever legacy issues come up regarding COM objects. Security on the website is an abomination, but I've easily encrypted the connectionStrings in the web.config file per http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/021506-1.aspx based on DPAPI machine mode. I understand this approach is not the most secure, but it's better than nothing which is what it was for the ASP.NET pages. Now, I question how to do similar encryption for the connection strings used by the Classic ASP pages. A complicating factor is that the web sited is hosted where I do not have admin permissions or even command line access, just FTP. Moreover I want to avoid managing the key. My research has found: DPAPI with COM interop. Seems like this should already be available, but the only thing I could find discussing this is CyptoUtility (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc163884.aspx) which is not installed on the hosting server. There are plenty of other third party COM objects, e.g. Crypto from Dalun Software http://www.dalun.com, but these aren't on the hosted server either, and they look to me to require you to do some kind of key management. There is CAPICOM on the hosted server, but M$ has deprecated it and many report it is not the easiest to use. It is not clear to me whether I can avoid key management with CAPICOM similar to using DPAPI for ASP.NET. If anyone happens to know, please clue me in. I could write an web service in ASP.NET and have the classic ASP pages use it to get the decrypted connection strings and then store those in an application variable. I would not need to use SSL since I could use localhost and nothing would be sent over the internet. In the simpliest form I could implement what someone termed a poor man's version based on a simple XML stream, however, I really was looking to avoid any development since I find it hard to believe there is not a simple solution for Classic ASP like there is for ASP.NET. Maybe I'm missing some options... Recommendations are requested...

  I am using jQuery remote validation to check if the description is already being used. So is it possible to only run the remote validation if the text field is different to what was originally in it? I noticed the the jQuery required validation has a depends option, but I couldn't get it to work with the remote call.

A 111.111.111.111 60 1 id1 test.com. A 111.111.111.222 60 1 id2 I want to delete 111.111.111.222 and the record set. So, what is the proper way to delete a record set? For a record set, I will have multiple values that are distinguished by a unique identifier. When an ip address becomes in active I want to remove from route53. I am using a a poor mans load balancing. • Using T4 templates to add custom code to EF4 generated entities?

  I am getting started with Entity Framework 4, using model-first development. I am building a simple WPF demo app to learn the framework. My app has two entities, Topic and Note. A Topic is a discussion topic; it has Title, Text, and DateRevised properties. Topic also has a Notes collection property. a Note has DateCreated and Text properties. I have used EF4 to create an EDM and data store for the app. Now I need to add just a bit of intelligence to the entities. For example, the property setter for the Topic.Text property needs to update the Topic.DateRevised property, and a Note needs to set its DateCreated property when it is instantiated--pretty simple stuff. I assume that I can't modify the generated classes directly, because my code would be lost if the entities are re-generated. Is this the sort of thing that I can implement by modifying the T4 template that EF4 uses to generate the entities? In other words, can a T4 template be modified to add my code for performing these tasks to the entities that it generates? Can you refer me to a good tutorial or explanation of how to get started? Most of what I have found so far talks about how to add a tt file to an EDM, so I can do that. What I am looking for is a resource that I can use to get to the next level, assuming that a T4 template can be used to customize generated entities as I have described. Thanks for your help.

• Compression algorithm for IEEE-754 data

  Anyone have a recommendation on a good compression algorithm that works well with double precision floating point values? We have found that the binary representation of floating point values results in very poor compression rates with common compression programs (e.g. Zip, RAR, 7-Zip etc). The data we need to compress is a one dimensional array of 8-byte values sorted in monotonically increasing order. The values represent temperatures in Kelvin with a span typically under of 100 degrees. The number of values ranges from a few hundred to at most 64K. Clarifications All values in the array are distinct, though repetition does exist at the byte level due to the way floating point values are represented. A lossless algorithm is desired since this is scientific data. Conversion to a fixed point representation with sufficient precision (~5 decimals) might be acceptable provided there is a significant improvement in storage efficiency. • MySQL Full-Text Search Across Multiple Tables - Quick/Long Solution?

  Hello all, I have been doing a bit of research on full-text searches as we realized a series of LIKE statements are terrible. My first find was MySQL full-text searches. I tried to implement this and it worked on one table, failed when I was trying to join multiple tables, and so I consulted stackoverflow's articles (look at the end for a list of the ones I've been to) I didn't see anything that clearly answered my questions. I'm trying to get this done literally in an hour or two (quick solution) but I also want to do a better long term solution. Here is my query: SELECT a.`product_id`, a.`name`, a.`slug`, a.`description`, b.`list_price`, b.`price`, c.`image`, c.`swatch`, e.`name` AS industry FROM `products` AS a LEFT JOIN `website_products` AS b ON (a.`product_id` = b.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN ( SELECT `product_id`, `image`, `swatch` FROM `product_images` WHERE `sequence` = 0) AS c ON (a.`product_id` = c.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN `brands` AS d ON (a.`brand_id` = d.`brand_id`) INNER JOIN `industries` AS e ON (a.`industry_id` = e.`industry_id`) WHERE b.`website_id` = 96 AND b.`status` = 1 AND b.`active` = 1 AND MATCH( a.`name`, a.`sku`, a.`description`, d.`name` ) AGAINST ( 'ashley sofa' ) GROUP BY a.`product_id` ORDER BY b.`sequence` LIMIT 0, 9 The error I get is: Incorrect arguments to MATCH If I remove d.name from the MATCH statement it works. I have a full-text index on that column. I saw one of the articles say to use an OR MATCH for this table, but won't that lose the effectiveness of being able to rank them together or match them properly? Other places said to use UNIONs but I don't know how to do that properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. In the idea of a long term solution it seems that either Sphinx or Lucene is best. Now by no means and I a MySQL guru, and I heard that Lucene is a bit more complicated to setup, any recommendations or directions would be great. • Programmatic DNS

  I'm a long time developer but not very experienced with DNS. Here's my problem: Our app launches servers on Amazon EC2 for clients. One client wants to use custom DNS's for every server launched instead of the normal long public DNS provided by AWS: for example server-5.demo.ourclient.com, server-6.demo.ourclient.com. What's the easiest/cleanest/best way to solve this challenge from inside our application that launches the servers and knows the Amazon public DNS? We can probably get control of demo.ourclient.com as well.... Are there nice hosted solutions with API's? Would we need to manage a DNS server for *.demo.ourclient.com? Thanks! Chad

• Trying to add trailing slash with htaccess, results in a absolute path

  What I'm trying to achive is to have all urls on my page look like http://domain.com/page/, no extensions, but a trailing slash. If a user happends to write http://domain.com/page or http://domain.com/page.php it will redirect to the first url. After some googling i found this code, and it's close to working, but when you leave out the trailing slash in your request the url becomes something like http://domain.com/Users/"..."/page/ and therefor returns a 404.
