  • MVC ASP.Net how do I add a second model to a view? i.e. Add a dropdown list to a page with a html grid?

    I have been able to find lots of examples of adding a Dropdown list to a view but I need to add a dropdown list to a view that also has a Webgrid on it. This entails two different models and from what I see I can only have one per view. The DDL will be filled from one model and the grid from the other. I'm just trying to filter the displayed data in the grid with the data selected in the ddl. Any examples or articles would be greatly appreciated. TIA

  • VB.NET For Each steps into loop body for an IEnumerable collection! How? Why?

    This is weird. I have a class that inherits from IEnumrable whose Count property is reporting 0 (zero) elements but the For Each loop steps into the loop body and tries to use the variable where it should just be moving on. My code: On Error Resume Next Dim d As Foo For Each d In fooCollection ' use d and throws an exception Next d Weirder still, every time d is accessed i get an exception thrown in the output window: A first chance exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' but i'm not stopping on the exception (not in a try/catch block). Is "On Error Resume Next" causing this weirdness? Weirdness found: Per Rowland's and JohnH's comments i checked the Foo class: The GetEnumerator method inside of Foo didn't actually return anything! It had an empty body. That coupled with the On Error Resume Next before the loop caused the havoc! Wow this was ugly. Thanks for the clues guys!

  • .NET Framework 4 updates breaking MMC.exe and other CLR.dll Exceptions

    I've seen this issue floating around the net the last few weeks and I'm facing exactly the same issue. My servers are set to auto install updates using Windows update (not clever, I know), and since about 2 months ago, I've been getting strange Exceptions. The first thing that happens is that MMC.exe just crashes randomly and sometimes on startup of the console. The exception in the Windows Application log is as follow: Faulting application name: mmc.exe, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bc808 Faulting module name: mscorwks.dll, version: 2.0.50727.5448, time stamp: 0x4e153960 Secondly, on the same server, I have some custom Windows services which constantly crash with exceptions : Faulting application name: Myservice.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4f44cb11 Faulting module name: clr.dll, version: 4.0.30319.239, time stamp: 0x4e181a6d Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x000378aa The exception is not in my code. I've tested and retested it. My server has the following .NET Framework updates installed: Does anyone have any idea?

  • Hosting 2 Sites Under 1 DiscountASP.Net Hosting Account

    I've currently got an ASP.Net site hosted with DiscountASP.Net what I would like to do now is put a second site in a subdirectory of this original site and register a new domain to point at the subfolder, so to the end user its 2 completely seperate sites. I've asked DiscountASP support if they could do this and they just say they dont support it and wont help. If I registered the second domain with someone like 123-reg is it possible to make that domain point to a subdirectory in my main site? If not I may have to put some sort of redirect on my route index page that sends you to the right page based on the URL you requested but I would really rather not have to go there. I don't want to buy an additional account as the second site is just a bit of a side project that may well go no where.

    I am trying to run net time on a Windows 7 box with an account that is part of the Administrators group. When I run the command net time from an elevated command prompt I get the following error: System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied. Why is this happening? I've looked at this Microsoft Knowledge Base article and have gone through the steps. Both the computer and the DC are connected to the same NTP server and I've verified they're synced I'm working on a local account so there should be no permissions issues There is no local firewall running

To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. I'm trying to figure out why ASP.NET/IIS would allow for the SQL call when using local content but not when using a UNC path. Any ideas what I need to do to use a UNC path from IIS7 properly?

    For a generic filter to exclude all traffic in my dump that is between private IP address, I came up with the following: sudo tcpdump -n ' (not ( (src net 172.16.0.0/20 or src net 10.0.0.0/8 or src net 192.168.0.0/16) and (dst net 172.16.0.0/20 or dst net 10.0.0.0/8 or dst net 192.168.0.0/16) ) ) and (not ( (dst net 172.16.0.0/20 or dst net 10.0.0.0/8 or dst net 192.168.0.0/16) and (src net 172.16.0.0/20 or src net 10.0.0.0/8 or src net 192.168.0.0/16) ) )' -w test2.dump Seems pretty excessive, but it also seems to work, is this filter a lot longer than it needs to be and there is better way to express this logic, or is there anything wrong with the filter?

I write net share MyCompany_server___0.0.1-SNAPSHOT___server=E:\JavaWorkspace\Product\src\generated\server Then, this share is visible by other Windows machine in network shares of my machine, but not be accessed. Is there an option I forgot to set ? EDITED due to comment Accessing the share using an OpenSUSE machine brings the "The folder contents could not be displayed." message. Accessing the share using the Windows machine sharing that folder succeeds without any issue Accessing the share using another Windows machine displays MyCompany_server_0.0.1-SNAPSHOT_server is not accessible.   • NET VIEW occasionally does not show all computers

    I am having an issue on my workstation, where periodically the NET VIEW command does not seem to work. Most times, NET VIEW will return a list of all the machines connected to our domain. Occasionally, it will only list 4 or 5 (instead of the usual 200+). The only way I've found to remedy it is by rebooting my machine. I am running Windows XP Pro, the Domain Controller is running Server 2003. What could be causing this, and how can I remedy it? Thanks!

Intro: Im suspecting that an asp.net application is having some issues with the connection pool and that the pool is flooding from time to time. So to make sure, I want to monitor the connection pool. The problem: So I logged in to the asp.net server(The sql database is hosted on a different server) which hosts the website. Started performance monitor. But when I want to select 'Current # pooled and nonpooled connections', I have no instance to select. There fore I can't add it. Question How can I create/supply an instance so I can monitor the connection pool? Thanks in advance BHD

  • Linux Tuning for High Traffic JBoss Server with LDAP Binds

    I'm configuring a high traffic Linux server (RedHat) and running into a limit I haven't been able to track down. I need to be able to handle sustained 300 requests per second throughput using Nginx and JBoss. The point of this server is to run checks on a user's account when that user signs in. Each request goes through Nginx to JBoss (specifically Torquebox with JBoss A7 with a Sinatra app) and then makes an LDAP request to bind that user and retrieve several attributes. It is during the bind that these errors occur. I'm able to reproduce this going directly to JBoss, so that rules out Nginx at least. I get a variety of error messages, though oddly JBoss stopped writing to the log file recently. It used to report errors about creating native threads. Now I just see "java.net.SocketException: Connection reset" and "org.apache.http.conn.HttpHostConnectException: Connection to http://my.awesome.server:8080 refused" as responses in jmeter. To the best of my knowledge, I have plenty of available file handles, processes, sockets, and ports, yet the issue persists. Unfortunately, I have very little experience tuning servers. I've found a couple useful documents - Ipsysctl tutorial 1.0.4 and Linux Tuning - but those documents are a bit over my head (and just entering the the configuration described in Linux Tuning doesn't fix my issue.   • Paint.NET equivalent for Linux?

    On Windows, my favorite image editor is Paint.NET. However, on Linux, GIMP is as unfriendly as photoshop despite having less features. (i.e. It takes ages to load, their's far too much stuff). Most of my image editing is simple things where Photoshop or GIMP would be overkill. Paint.NET does not run on Wine or Mono. So is there any similar fast and simple but powerful image editor available for Linux? EDIT: There is a Mono version available, but I don't want to have to deal with installing svn versions of mono, and compiling the version myself.

    We are looking to integrate Memcached into our infrastructure, but have a security concern before we do. We run several platforms including ASP.NET and Coldfusion and have many app developers working many little applications across the different platforms. The concern is this: App A places item "dog" into cache. App B reads item "dog" (or worse: App B updates item "dog") After this happens, App A either retrieves bad information, or has already had its information viewed, aka "stolen". What we would like to do is make it so that each app can only interact with its own sandbox, and may not interfere with or read other application's data. Is this possible? Thanks.

    What is needed in the tfs 2010 build agent, to build .net 4.5 projects, in tfs 2008 we had to set the MSBuildPath property, but the configuration seems to be different in 2010. I get the following error message. (614): The imported project "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v11.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" was not found. Confirm that the path in the declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk.   • Active Directory - Using GPO To Update Multiple Versions Of .NET

    OK, I have searched everywhere for this one. I have all the MSI's and packages I need to deploy .Net 3.5 SP1, and 2.0 and 3.0 (which are prerequisites for 3.5). I can't figure out how to install all of them at once via GPO. Basically, the computers on the network do NOT have any version of .Net installed, and I need them to be at 3.5 SP1. I know I can deploy each version via GPO, force reboot the client, then push the next one, force reboot, and so on. Is there a way to streamline install all 3 at once via GPO? Thanks

  • Why change net.inet.tcp.tcbhashsize in FreeBSD?

    In virtually every FreeBSD network tuning document I can find: # /boot/loader.conf net.inet.tcp.tcbhashsize=4096 This is usually paired with some unhelpful statement like "TCP control-block hash table tuning" or "Set this to a reasonable value." man 4 tcp isn't much help either: tcbhashsize Size of the TCP control-block hash table (read-only). This may be tuned using the kernel option TCBHASHSIZE or by setting net.inet.tcp.tcbhashsize in the loader(8). The only document I can find that touches on this mysterious thing is the Protocol Control Block Lookup subsection beneath Transport Layer in Optimizing the FreeBSD IP and TCP Stack, but its description is more about potential bottlenecks in using it. It seems tied to matching new TCP segments to their listening sockets, but I'm not sure how. What exactly is the TCP Control Block used for? Why would you want to set its hash size to 4096 or any other particular number?
