Hi
I'm looking for a PIM like Treepad(www.treepad.com) that can be interchangeably used between Windows and Linux. I currently use Essential PIM in Windows.
Do you know good one?
I've created an instance of a Windows Server 2008 AMI at Amazon EC2. I now need to upload some installation files to it.
One way to do this would be to activate the FTP server in Windows, set up an account and use that to upload files.
Is there a better way to do this? Maybe some way to upload directly to an EBS?
Hi there,
I've used MSMQ on a windows 2003 server before and noticed I could monitor the public and private queues. Does anyone know if you can do this on windows 2008 server? If so, how do I access it because I've search and can't find a way to monitor this. At least not from a GUI interface like before.
is there a way to convert QCOW2 to OVF?
or is there a way to open an QCOW2 on WINDOWS (preferably free/open source)?
the problem is that ubuntu's virtual machine manager was used to create the image and now i'd need to use it on windows (xp).
is there a chance?
thnx
I am using RHCE 5 server and windows XP client machines on LAN.
Now i planned to install XAMP in my server and windows machines should access XAMPP.
How can i do it ?
I use scp command on my bash shell to copy a file from a remote linux machine while I am logged on to it using ssh.
Now if I connect to the linux machine using Putty on windows machine will I still be able to use scp command to copy files on my windows machine.
what will the command look like?
I'm running VirtualBox in Windows. I have Linux 10.04 installed as a VM.
Whenever I log in I have to run to following command to mount my shared Windows web dev folder:
sudo mount.vboxsf web_apps /mnt/web_apps
Where can I put this line (minus the sudo) so that it will run once when Linux boots up? I'm guessing there must be a root .profile or .login script that runs at some point?
When I switch to the Finder using cmd-tab, no open Finder windows show up.
I switched to finder with cmd-tab, Finder is brought to the front, but its windows are not.
Hi. I am currently running Windows XP along with Ubuntu 9.10. Is there any anti-virus which can scan for windows viruses , from ubuntu ? I had tried ClamAV sometime back. It didn't work very well. Is there any other alternative ? Preferably a free one :)

I am trying to figure out how to configure IAM in Amazon AWS to use Windows Azure Active Directory.
I found http://blogs.aws.amazon.com/security/post/Tx71TWXXJ3UI14/Enabling-Federation-to-AWS-using-Windows-Active-Directory-ADFS-and-SAML-2-0, however it is about configuring ADFS.
WAAD supports SAML 2.0 http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/fundamentals-identity/
Has anyone figured it out yet?
Good day everyone!
I have only Ubuntu/Debian machines in my office. I've registered for Windows Azure platform and try to enter their management portal (https://windows.azure.com/default.aspx), but it requires Microsoft Silverlight.
I've tried installing latest Moonlight plugin availabing for Ubuntu 11.04, but without any success - after login I see blank page and nothing more (tried both firefox 7.0.1 and chromium-14).
Does anyone know how to enter Microsoft Azure management portal from Ubuntu 11.04 or any other linux?
Thank you,
Zaar
Is there a universal way to turn Windows 7 Aero desktop, all windows, etc into grayscale? I had an option to do this in Intel video drivers on my old laptop, now I have NVIDIA and don't know how to replicate this effect.
There might be a shader or filter that would cause Aero to render stuff into grayscale, but I was unable to find anything. Or must it be explicitly supported by video driver as a bonus?
Can stacks be created for application windows in mac os x - leopard? For example, if I click on firefox, it should show a stack of all open firefox windows and I could choose between them.
The wireless on my Ubuntu works on all the other wireless networks. But on this university network it never forms a connection. But I can see the signal at 80% (indeed I see several signals at 80%, 40% and 20% by the same name university-network name). On a Windows XP laptop, the connection is formed as usual, and there is only one network visible to Windows.
On windows I have a few AutoHotkey scripts that let me hit various key combinations to resize windows to particular pre-defined sizes, or move them to certain areas of the screen (or both). I'm wondering how I would accomplish this in Ubuntu (gnome).
Most of the searches I did for a linux version of autohotkey seemed to be centered around just setting up simple keyboard shortcuts (key combo X launches app Y, etc). I didn't see anything about scripting window size and placement beyond maximize/minimize.
Is there a built-in command for downloading a file using the command line on Windows? I know I can get cygwin and install wget, but I would like a solution that works on any windows PC.

I trying to execute a post-receive hook on a windows server git(msysgit) installation - to sync the repo to codebasehq.
The script does nothing more than just wget "url" but it doesn't seem to be executing.
I've renamed the "post-receive.sample" to "post-receive" and installed wget to windows path which works fine via the command prompt.
Is there something I'm not doing here? I would appreciate any insights on how to get this working. Thanks.
Hi ,
I given the below cmd
using PsExec v1.96
psexec -u ADMIN_USER_NAME -p ADMIN_PWD
I got the below error.

I just upgraded a Vista machine to Windows 7. The machine is running Outlook 2007 SP2 with the KB970944 performance hot fix.
Now, syncing to the Exchange server can take 20 minutes, whereas it was very fast before the Windows 7 upgrade. I believe we're running Exchange 2003, but I'm not 100% sure.
Anyone else seeing this? Any fixes yet?
Hej,
I have reserved a Linux and a Windows instances in Amazon EC2. I would like to access between each other through SSH. I have installed cygwin (with openssh package) in the Windows instance but I would like to know how shoud I configure it for accessing to the Linux instance and also being accessed from it?
Thanks in advance ;)
I want to use Windows Server 2008 R2 as a host, and load RedHat as a guest OS.
Should I use VMWare, or does Windows have something built in that competes with VMWare?
I've managed to configure my test Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 Server VM to accept logins (via ssh) from users who have domain accounts in active directory via Kerberos, nsswitch.conf and PAM configurations.
The final thing I'd like to happen is locating their home directory on a Windows server share. Each domain account ($USER) has a windows share ala: \\winsrvr\users\$USER.
Can someone push me in the direction I need to go?
I recently compiled tmux from source rather than going through homebrew for some reason I can no longer recall. At the same time, switching sessions via ^b sstarted to display all of the windows under each session, and not just the sessions thesmelves:
Session Switcher Now
Is there any way I can revert to the previous behaviour of only displaying sessions and not the windows belonging to them as well?
