• Format Java Code in Netbeans / Eclipse, but save it differently

  Hi all, I asked a related question before, but I guess the root of the question is. Let's say I have 2 developers on the team and they both like to look at code in different formats. One likes the braces to be on a new line and the other doesn't. The approach I was using before is that anytime we run a build, the code is automatically formatted according to the Java/Sun standards using Jalopy; however, I would like the developers to be as happy as possible. They can change the font size, font color, background color, etc. If I am currently using the Jalopy Maven plugin to format code, can/should I write a hook to SVN that calls mvn jalopy:format on the project when it's checked in? Is this reliable? That solution doesn't work 100% because it requires the developer to manually format the source code to their liking every time they open a file that hasn't been formatted yet. I was thinking an IDE plugin would be nice as it could automatically format the source to their liking and then save it as another. What other options do I have to ensure the code is formatted nicely on checkin? Thanks, Walter

• Dojo: dojo onblur events

  Hi guys, I have a form setup with dojo 1.5. I am using a dijit.form.ComboBox and a dijit.form.TextBox The Combobox has values like "car","bike","motorcycle" and the textbox is meant to be an adjective to the Combobox. So it doesn't matter what is in the Combobox but if the ComboBox does have a value then something MUST be filled in the TextBox. Optionally, if nothing is in the ComboBox, then nothing can be in the TextBox and that is just fine. In fact if something isn't in the Combobox then nothing MUST be in the text box. In regular coding I would just use an onBlur event on the text box to go to a function that checks to see if the ComboBox has a value. I see in dojo that this doesn't work... Code example is below... Vehicle: <input dojoType="dijit.form.ComboBox" store="xvarStore" value="" searchAttr="name" name="vehicle_1" id="vehicle_1" /> Descriptor: <input type="text" dojoType="dijit.form.TextBox" value="" class=lighttext style="width:350px;height:19px" id="filter_value_1" name="filter_value_1" /> My initial attempt was to add an onBlur within the Descriptor's <input> tag but discovered that that doesn't work. How does Dojo handle this? Is it via a dojo.connect parameter? Even though in the example above the combobox has an id of "vehicle_1" and the text box has an id of "filter_value_1", there can be numerous comboboxes and textboxes numbering sequentially upward. (vehicle_2, vehicle_3, etc) Any advice or links to resources would be greatly appreciated. Janie

  Hi I can load 400 textured cylinders using o3d webl, as soon as I push the test upto 600 cylinders I get the following.. uncaught exception: [Exception... • Django Class Views and Reverse Urls

  I have a good many class based views that use reverse(name, args) to find urls and pass this to templates. However, the problem is class based views must be instantiated before urlpatterns can be defined. This means the class is instantiated while urlpatterns is empty leading to reverse throwing errors. I've been working around this by passing lambda: reverse(name, args) to my templates but surely there is a better solution. As a simple example the following fails with exception: ImproperlyConfigured at xxxx The included urlconf mysite.urls doesn't have any patterns in it mysite.urls from mysite.views import MyClassView urlpatterns = patterns('', url(r'^$' MyClassView.as_view(), name='home') ) views.py class MyClassView(View): def get(self, request): home_url = reverse('home') return render_to_response('home.html', {'home_url':home_url}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) home.html <p><a href={{ home_url }}>Home</a></p> I'm currently working around the problem by forcing reverse to run on template rendering by changing views.py to class MyClassView(View): def get(self, request): home_url = lambda: reverse('home') return render_to_response('home.html', {'home_url':home_url}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) and it works, but this is really ugly and surely there is a better way. So is there a way to use reverse in class based views but avoid the cyclic dependency of urlpatterns requiring view requiring reverse requiring urlpatterns...

• Create a Desktop Shortcut to an existing FOLDER using WiX

  I have the need to create a Desktop Shortcut to an existing FOLDER (NOT to a file) using Wix. To elaborate more, my installer program has a CustomAction program written using C# associated with it. This CustomAction program creates a folder named "BSS" of which the path is selected by user. C:\ProgramData\MT\BSS Now I need to place a Desktop Shortcut to this folder using WiX. However, I encounter a problem since this folder does not have a folder structure within WiX. But double clicking on it dosen't help as there is no program that can be used to open it. Obviously I'm doing it wrong here. Can someone please help me with this, so as how to overcome this problem. Note that I'm extremely new to Wix (it's been only two days) and has never worked with it before. Any code sample would be of great help.

• Using a CALayer in UITableViewCell

  On each cell of my table view I want to have a bar that the user can slide out from the right. On the bar I plan to have icons. So, to do this I subclassed UITableViewCell. On the cell I have implemented drawRect and in there I have already drawn a gradient and background color on the cell. From there, I can create a CALayer, give it a frame & background color, and add it as a sub layer to the Views subLayers array. I can do all that and it will display my layer on each UITableViewCell. I have added touch events to the cell so I can detect when the user touches the cell and for testing I have made it so when the user swipes, my CALayer gets wider. But the issue is, when the UITableView scrolls and reuses a cell whose CALayer has been widened, it doesn't recreate the CALayer. I have tried [myLayer setNeedsDisplay] and used the drawLayer:inContext method of its delegate and it doesn't get called. I have also tried telling call setNeedsDisplay on the cell in my UITableViewController hoping that that will cause a redraw, but it doesn't work. I'm not sure what I'm missing. I am new to CoreGraphics & CoreAnimation. I have read through the CoreAnimation Developers Guide, but I'm assuming I missing something. Any help would be great.

• Problem between Glassfish and Spring Security Basic Authentication

  Hi! I am enabling a simple HTTP Basic Authentication with Spring security in my project. My environment is an Glassfish Server (bundled with Netbeans), and almost everything works perfect: I have set up it to just ask for authentication with the POST method, with hardcoded users with "user-service", and it works with user names with no special characters. The problem comes when I set up an user with "@" or "." • Google Chrome, IE problem with adjusting style before AJAX

  When I'm using AJAX, I typically do something before each request to let the user know that they'll be waiting for a second. This is usually done by just adding an animated loading gif. When I do this, Firefox does what you'd expect and adds the gif before moving control to the next line (where the AJAX is called). In Chrome, it locks the browser and doesn't make any DOM changes at all (let alone load an image), including even changing the color of something, until the AJAX is done. This isn't just AJAX though. It's anything that holds control, and it never makes DOM changes until the control is given back to the window. Example (using jQuery): function submit_order() { $('#my_element').css('color', '#FF0000'); // Make text red before calling AJAX $.getJSON('/api/', my_callback) // Note, in IE and Chrome #my_element isn't turned red until the AJAX finishes and my_callback is run } Why does this happen, and how can I solve it? I can't use ASYNC because of the nature of the data (it would be a big mess). I experimented with using window.setTimeout(myajaxfunc, 150) after setting the style, to see if it would set the style, then do the timeout, but it appears it isn't an issue with just AJAX, but rather the control of the script in general (I think, hence the title making mention to AJAX because this is the only time I ever run into this problem). This doesn't have anything to do with it being in a function BTW.

• Can WPF based ActiveX control use Reg-Free-COM

  I have a WPF based ActiveX control (COM interop). I am able to use it correctly by registering the control. When I tried to Reg-Free-COM (using manifest files) the control seems to be activated, but the events (such as mouse click, RequestBringIntoView etc) dont respond. Interestingly, Double click and tab key works. I read in the this article http://blogs.msdn.com/karstenj/archive/2006/10/09/activex-wpf-gadget.aspx that " ... These upsides come with a price: the ActiveX control must be registered in the registry, which requires some kind of installation such as an .msi. The default gadget installation process cannot install ActiveX. The ActiveX control can't be access via reg-free COM. ..." Has anybody had a similar experience? Can anyone explain what is going on? Additional details: When the control is activated after it has been registered it appears as part of the COM client's UI. The control does not receive focus, its elements receive it. When using reg-free-com the control does not load correctly. 1) The control receives focus instead of its sub elements 2) The control has areas that are black instead of the windows default color 3) when I tab in and out of the control or double click it, it's subelements receive focus, the control starts receiving events and the black areas are replaced by the correct color

I wanted to select and fill (with any color) every other row, kinda like some of those access reports. I can do it manually coding each and every row, but two problems: 1) its a pain 2) i don't know what the record count is before hand. How can I make the code more efficient in this respect while incorporating the recordcount to know how many rows to "loop through" EDIT: Another question I have is with the selection methods I am using in the module, is there a better excel syntax instead of these with selections.... .Cells.Select With Selection.Font .Name = "Calibri" .Size = 10 End With is the only way i figure out how to accomplish this piece, but literally every other time I run this code, it fails.   Hello to everyone. I'm very new to ASP.NET MVC (as well as ASP.NET in general), and going to gain some knowledge for this technology, so I'm sorry I can ask some trivial questions. I have installed ASP.NET MVC 3 RC1 and I'm trying to do the following. Let's consider that I have a model that's completely auto-generated from a table using the "LINQ to SQL Classes" template in VS2010. The template generates 3 files (two .cs files and one .layout file respectively), and the generated partial class is expected to be used as an MVC model. Let's also consider, a single DB column, that's mapped into the model, may look like this: [global::System.Data.Linq.Mapping.ColumnAttribute(Storage = "_Name", DbType = "VarChar(128)")] public string Name { get { return this._Name; } set { if ( (this._Name != value) ) { // ... generated stuff goes here } } } The ASP.NET MVC engine also provides a beautiful declarative way to specify some additional stuff, like RequiredAttribute, DisplayNameAttribute and other nice attributes. But since the mapped model is a purely auto-genereated model, I've realized that I should not change the model manually, and specify the fields like: [Required] [DisplayName("Project name")] [StringLength(128)] [global::System.Data.Linq.Mapping.ColumnAttribute(Storage = "_Name", DbType = "VarChar(128)")] public string Name { ... though this approach works perfectly... until I change the model in the DBML-designer removing the ASP.NET MVC attributes automatically. • Searching a list of tuples in python

  I'm having a database (sqlite) of members of an organisation (less then 200 people). Now I'm trying to write an wx app that will search the database and return some contact information in a wx.grid. The app will have 2 TextCtrls, one for the first name and one for the last name. What I want to do here is make it possible to only write one or a few letters in the textctrls and that will start to return result. So, if I search "John Smith" I write "Jo" in the first TextCtrl and that will return every single John (or any one else having a name starting with those letters). It will not have an "search"-button, instead it will start searching whenever I press a key. One way to solve this would be to search the database with like " SELECT * FROM contactlistview WHERE forname LIKE 'Jo%' " But that seems like a bad idea (very database heavy to do that for every keystroke?). Instead i thought of use fetchall() on a query like this " SELECT * FROM contactlistview " and then, for every keystroke, search the list of tuples that the query have returned. And that is my problem: Searching a list is not that difficult but how can I search a list of tuples with wildcards?

• Access to multiple ItemRenderers within an AdvancedDataGrid

  I've create an AdvancedDataGrid where most of the cell are based on an ItemRenderer. The custom ItemRenderer (SoundBox) extends VBox. This custom component allow for simple changes in the background color based on user clicking on a cell. • How to make Nlog archive a file with the date when the logging took place.

  Hi, We are using Nlog as our logging framework and I cannot find a way to archive files the way I want. I would like to have the date of when the logging took place in the logging file name. • UTF-8 BOM signature in PHP files

  I was writing some commented PHP classes and I stumbled upon a problem. My name (for the @author tag) ends up with a ? (which is a UTF-8 character, ...and a strange name, I know). Even though I save the file as UTF-8, some friends reported that they see that character totally messed up (È™). This problem goes away by adding the BOM signature. But that thing troubles me a bit, since I don't know that much about it, except from what I saw on Wikipedia and on some other similar questions here on SO. I know that it adds some things at the beginning of the file, and from what I understood it's not that bad, but I'm concerned because the only problematic scenarios I read about involved PHP files. And since I'm writing PHP classes to share them, being 100% compatible is more important than having my name in the comments. But I'm trying to understand the implications, should I use it without worrying? or are there cases when it might cause damage? When? Thanks!

  I'm trying to create a player who can add and remove items from their inventory. I have everything working, I just have 1 small problem. Every time it prints the inventory, 'None' also appears. I've been messing with it to try and remove that, but no matter what I do, 'None' always appears in the program!   I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to implement validation in a ListView. The goal is to require the user to enter text in the comments TextBox, but only if the CheckBox is checked. Downside is that these controls are in the EditTemplate of a ListView. In the returned xml non-string objects are ignored!

  I am attempting to use a property on my model that is of type Dictionary<string, string>. This dictionary is one of several other properties on the model, and I am using the dictionary as a key/value store to produce a 'dynamic' form. E.G.: User Name Settings A B I want to be able to submit and save any changes to settings A and B.
