• How to make a div expand vertically to wrap the content within it?

  I have a div which wraps a number of images that are generated dynamically. I don't know how high the list of images is. My problem is the div that contains the dynamically generated images doesn't behave like it is housing any content - I want it to extend to the height of the list of images. Each image is itself wrapped in a div. This is the wrapper div: .block { padding:10px; margin-top:10px; height:auto; background-color:#f9f9f9; } This is the markup dynamically generated for (one of) the images: <div class="block"> <div style="float: left; padding: 2px 2px 2px 2px;"><IMG SRC="45.jpg" BORDER="0"/></div> ..... • Can I prevent RequiredFieldValidation from triggering against postbacks from a specific control.

  I have a web form with a number of textbox controls which I've associated RequiredFieldValidator's with. I have a ValidationSummary control on the page to render any incomplete fields when I submit the page. However, I've just had to add an image upload facility to the same page, and have an 'Upload' button which I have posting back to perform the upload. I don't want this upload button to trigger the RequiredFieldValidators for the rest of the page though - I want this upload postback to be ignored as far as the validation goes. What's the best way to stop the RequiredFieldValidator's from firing when I submit this upload button on the page because at the moment, the upload won't occur unless I have first field out all of the other textbox controls on the page.

• Using exponential smoothing with NaN values

  I have a sample of some kind that can create somewhat noisy output. The sample is the result of some image processing from a camera, which indicates the heading of a blob of a certain color. It is an angle from around -45° to +45°, or a NaN, which means that the blob is not actually in view. In order to combat the noisy data, I felt that exponential smoothing would do the trick. However, I'm not sure how to handle the NaN values. On the one hand, involving them in the math would result in a NaN average, which would then prevent any meaningful results. On the other hand, ignoring NaN values completely would mean that a "no-detection" scenario would never be reported. And just to complicate things, the data is also noisy in that it can get false NaN value, which ideally would be smoothed somehow to prevent random noise. Any ideas about how I could implement such an exponential smoother?

• Base64 Encoded Data - DB or Filesystem

  I have a new program that will be generating a lot of Base64 encoded audio and image data. This data will be served via HTTP in the form of XML and the Base64 data will be inline. These files will most likely break 20MB and higher. Would it be more efficient to serve these files directly from the filesystem or would it be feasible to store the data in a MySQL database? Caching will be set up but overall unnecessary because it is likely that this data will be purged shortly after it is created and served. i know that storing binary data in the DB is frowned upon in most circumstances but since this will all be character data I want to see what the consensus is. As of now, I am leaning toward storing them in the filesystem for efficiency reasons but if it is feasible to store them in a database it would be much easier to manage the data.

But when I am adding that parameter in the stored procedure I am getting the following error- Implicit conversion from data type varchar to varbinary is not allowed.   I have an object elem that I'd like to pass to the remove_tag_from_cart method. Here is my attempt: -elem = @tags[1] #{elem.name}#{link_to_remote image_tag('x.png'), :url => {:controller => 'questions', :action => 'remove_tag_from_cart'}, :with => {:tag_to_remove => :elem}} The :with clause isn't working correctly. The image does not even show up. If I take out the :with clause, then the link properly shows up and calls the method correctly, but I need the elem object in order to remove it from the cart. Suggestions?

  You may ask why do I need it? I have to detect all white objects at the B/W image. I'm coloring each object and taking its rect. In order fill each object with different color I would be very happy to use a function that can for a given color gimme a next one or so. In Qt there is a nice one that is called nextColor or so, returns the integer representing the next color(which can be easily translated to RGB). Does Cocoa have sth like that?

Once the collection is used via foreach cycle, it should return the full path created by concatenating with "baseDirectory". • How Do You Parse Column Data ?

  I am trying to parse a file generated by LGA Tracon that lists the position data for aircraft over a given time frame. The data of interest starts with TRACKING DATA and ends with SST and there are thousands of entries per file. The system generating the file, Common ARTS, is very rigid in its formatting and we can expect the column spacing to be consistent. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   I am working on a project to convert OCR'd PDf to png using ImageMagick and ghostscript and display in the browser so that i can select words in the image by letting a user query for the word . Imagemagick works fine along with ghostscript . I have a problem with the ps2text utility where it does not work reliably with pdf's . could anybody suggest a good utility to convert postscript to text in Linux so that i can store it in a db . thereafter i use a custom written search class to find out the co-ordinates of each word and highlight the text in the browser . • Why does File::Find finished short of completely traversing a large directory?

  A directory exists with a total of 2,153,425 items (according to Windows folder Properties). It contains .jpg and .gif image files located within a few subdirectories. The task was to move the images into a different location while querying each file's name to retrieve some relevant info and store it elsewhere. The script that used File::Find finished at 20462 files. Out of curiosity I wrote a tiny recursive function to count the items which returned a count of 1,734,802. I suppose the difference can be accounted for by the fact that it didn't count folders, only files that passed the -f test. The problem itself can be solved differently by querying for file names first instead of traversing the directory. I'm just wondering what could've caused File::Find to finish at a small fraction of all files. The data is stored on an NTFS file system.

• n*n blocks and polygons

  Hi, this is actually meant to be for a function called roipoly in matlab but it can be considered a general case problem. Roipoly is a function which lets u select a polygon over an image, and returns a binary mask where u can use it to get indices of the desired polygon. (It is just a normal polygon after all). My application (K-Nearest Neighbor) requires that i make n*n blocks out of the data i have (the polygon), i.e. If i have a polygon (a road or a piece of land), i want a n*n square moving over it while avoiding intersection with edges and putting those n*n pixels into some variable. This problem would be a lot easier if i had all my shapes in the form of rectangles, but that unfortunately isn't the case. I might have something going diagonal, circular or just irregular.

So that when I'm logged in, I can see everything. But when an anonymous user visit the site, he will only see the public stuff. It's way to manage a kind of front window/back-store architecture. I can use the same Drupal installation to all my needs and choose to filter the stuff I may want to make publicly available. * Important : 1) Private items must not be accessible even if anonymous users guess its URL; 2) Private item must not show up if anonymous user perform a search; 3) Private content must not be indexed by search engines; 4) Private items should show up if I perform a search while being logged in. • Truncate text if it atempts to run into three lines

  I have a small about 140px wide aligned next to a picture. In total there is space for four lines of text. The first two lines are reserved for the title and there are two lines of other info. I want the title to be cut if it spans more than two lines else it will push the other info out of line with the bottom of the image. The only solution I could think of was to create a div the height of two lines with an overflow to hidden. However, if the title is only one line it leaves a big gap. The solution can be Jquery, plain javascript, CSS or even PHP (if its possible). TIA

  In my application i am constantly moving from one control to another. I have created no. of user controls, but during navigation my controls gets flicker. it takes 1 or 2 sec to update. I tried to set this SetStyle(ControlStyles.OptimizedDoubleBuffer, true); or SetStyle(ControlStyles.UserPaint, true); SetStyle(ControlStyles.AllPaintingInWmPaint, true); SetStyle(ControlStyles.DoubleBuffer, true); but it didn't help... Each control has same background image with different controls. So what is the solution for it.. Thanks.

• low latency data link pc to android

  can anyone recommend a method for low latency bi-directional com link between my pc app and android slave app. the app i have works now via wifi but the latency is too slow (about 300mS), i'm looking to get it down to 10mS or so. the android is acting like a glorified remote control to the game on the pc. the apk displays a low res image and sends button presses back to the game and the round trip need to be quick i'm thinking the only option beside the network, is to connect a usb cable but i don't see a lot of support for that path and not even sure it would be lower latency than wifi any ideas please?

Like people suggest in the comments it's easy buggy when you click multiple times on the same image. How can I disable the img link when it's clicked once and re-enable it when the product is added to the basket? I've tried setting the attribute HREF of to # in the beginning of the function, but that doesn't help. So when a user clicks the function needs to be executed, but the link should be disabled as long as the function is busy. thanks in advance for your help.

• MapView tiles loading in Android

  In the Maps application (at least version 5) for Android the tiles are loading in a different way, than when using a MapView in my own application, when for example zooming in or out. In the MapView displays a gray checkered image until the tile is fully loaded an than the map is displayed. In Maps application this it not the case all the time. Tiles that are not fully loaded are still showing a map but it is blurry. The Maps application way of showing the map when zooming is much prettier for the eye. Is it possible to have this "feature" in a MapView in my own application as well? Best regards P
