  I have this piece of code in c#: private static void _constructRow(SqlDataReader reader, system.IO.StreamWriter stwr, bool getColumnName) { for (int i = 0; i < reader.FieldCount; i++) stwr.Writeline(String.Format("<td>{0}</td"), getColumnName ? reader.GetName(i) : reader.GetValue(i).ToString())); } I'm trying to understand what the part that start with "getColumnName ?" and ends with ".ToString()" does. I understood that it is a system.object type, but I have no idea what it specifically does or how it works. I want that because of this: "reader" had multiple rows in it, and I want to writeline only specific rows. If anyone can help me on either of those, I'd be grateful.

• Explicit constructor still has default values even though a default constructor is not invoked.

  According to my understanding a default constructor initializes the state of the object to default values, so if i provide an explicit no-arg public constructor like this then how are the values of d and e still getting initialized to zero because in this case the default constructor is not invoked. public class B extends A{ private int d; private int e; public B() { System.out.println(d); System.out.println(e); } } EDIT:: The only thing default constructor does is call to super() then how come if i have a explicitly mentioned a constructor here and A has a protected variable say c which is initialized to 17 in its constructor. Should I not be explicitly calling super() to be able to see that change since I'm using my own constructor ? Why is B still getting the value of 17 through inheritance ?

  I am trying to get the output of android shell command 'getprop' with java since getprop() always returns null no matter what.   Is this possible? Surely if you passed in a double, any sort of function implementation code which casts an object to an Integer would not be able to work unless the cast 'Integer' was specifically used? I have a function like: public static void increment(Object o){ Integer one = (Integer)o; system.out.println(one++); } I cant see how this could be made generic for a double? I tried public static <E> void increment(E obj){ E one = (E)o; system.out.println(one++); } but it didn't like it?

I made a struct in C#: public struct NetPoint { public float lat; // 4 bytes public float lon; // 4 bytes public int alt; // 4 bytes public long time; // 8 bytes } Total size of the struct must be 20 bytes When i do a sizeof() of this struct System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("SizeOf(NetPoint)=" + System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.SizeOf(new NetPoint())); The debug console show : SizeOf(NetPoint)=24 But i expected to have 20 bytes ?   Using double variable = inputFile.nextDouble(); Gives the mismatch error and I can't figure out why... Anyone know what's up? The input file is just a bunch of doubles like 5.0... Okay here is the code snippet String fileName; Scanner scanner = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("\nEnter file name that contains the matrix and vector: "); fileName = scanner.nextLine(); Scanner inputFile = new Scanner(fileName); double a1 = inputFile.nextDouble(); the input file is a plain text document .txt in this format 5.0 4.0 -3.0 4.0 2.0 5.0 6.0 5.0 -2.0 -13.0 4.0 12.0 I don't understand why it wouldn't take those as doubles... As far as what its expecting the format of the file to be... I suppose binary? isn't that the default? I didn't specify in the code...

Quarters, specifically being: Jan 1 - Mar 31 Apr 1 - Jun 30 Jul 1 - Sep 30 Oct 1 - Dec 31 The Problem Employees will use an automated system to request paid time off, possibly occurring in the past, as well as the future. Requests should only be accepted if the employee has (or will have) that time available. For instance, if an employee only has 1 Day of Paid Time Off currently available (currently being January 20th), but is requesting 2 Days of Paid Time Off, beginning September 20th, the system should take into account that the employee would have accrued enough time off by then and allow the request. (Obviously ignoring that the employee may use up existing time before that date). I'm currently using Python, and wondering what the correct approach to something like this would be. I'm assuming that using DateTime objects, and possibly the dateutil module, would help here, but my brain isn't wrapping around this problem for some reason.

  I wrote a custom resolver class. It works OK for resolving SYSTEM DTDs, but not for resolving PUBLIC DTDs. When the class has to resolve PUBLIC DTDs instead of the URI of the resource, the function receives the public identifier through the absoluteUri parameter of the GetEntity function. Is there a solution to this. In examples: if I have a DTD declaration like <!DOCTYPE document SYSTEM "document.dtd"> then the custom resolver correctly receives the string "document.dtd" through the absoluteUri parameter of the GetEntity function. if I have a DTD declaration like <!DOCTYPE document PUBLIC "-//Organization//DTD Document 1.0//EN" "http://localhost/document.dtd"> then the custom resolver incorrectly receives the string "-//Organization//DTD Document 1.0//EN" instead of "scheme://host/document.dtd".

So basically I want to do what "tee" command does but I also want to capture stderr as well.

  If I have a hash map and iterate over the objects repeatedly, is it correct that I'm not guaranteed the same order for every call? For example, could the following print two lines that differ from each other: Map<String,Integer> map = new HashMap<String,Integer>() {{ put("a", 1); put("b", 2); put("c", 3); }}; System.out.println(map); System.out.println(map); And is this the case for sets and collections in general? If so, what's the best way in case you have to iterate twice over the same collection in the same order (regardless of what order that is)? I guess converting to a list.

  Hi, I'm working on a vb.net application which imports from an Excel spreadsheet. If rdr.HasRows Then Do While rdr.Read() If rdr.GetValue(0).Equals(System.DBNull.Value) Then Return Nothing Else Return rdr.GetValue(0) End If Loop Else I was using string value to store the double values and when preparing the database statement I'd use this code: If (LastDayAverage = Nothing) Then command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@WF_LAST_DAY_TAG", System.DBNull.Value) Else command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@WF_LAST_DAY_TAG", Convert.ToDecimal(LastDayAverage)) End If I now have some data with quite a few decimal places and the data was put into the string variable in scientific notation, so this seems to be the wrong approach. It didn't seem right using the string variable to begin with. If I use a double or decimal type variable, the blank excel values come across as 0.0. How can I preserve the blank values? Thanks

• IIS redirects to url beginning with "http://http" although syntax in web.config file appears to be alright

  Here's what I have so far: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <configuration> <location path="osb"> <system.webServer> <httpRedirect enabled="true" exactDestination="true" destination="http://50.63.54.135/app/osb" httpResponseStatus="Permanent" /> </system.webServer> </location> </configuration> The above redirect works, but it takes me to http://http//50.63.54.135/app/osb instead of just http://50.63.54.135/app/osb This produces an 404 error. I tried to remove "http://" from destination. Same effect. What am I missing ?
