  • URLCallback with JAAS on WAS?

    I extended the JAAS javax.security.auth.spi.LoginModule, and installed it into a WAS server. It works; all logins go through the code in this new class, and if it says to not let them login, they're prevented from logging in. The root problem: I don't want it to filter logins for the admin console (/ibm/console), but I do want it to filter logins for other things on the server. I think that with the available setup, the login module applies to everything installed on the server, including the administration screens. I'd like to solve that by getting the URL of the page that triggered the call to the LoginModule. If I were using WebLogic, I'd use a URLCallback to get the URL. Does anyone know if Websphere Application Server has any parallel functionality to that, or if there's another workaround?

  • How to free up memory?

    We have been facing Out of Memory errors in our App server for sometime. We see the used heap size increasing gradually until finally it reaches the available heap in size. This happens every 3 weeks after which a server restart is needed to fix this. Upon analysis of the heap dumps we find the problem to be objects used in JSPs. Can JSP objects be the real cause of Appserver memory issues? How do we free up JSP objects (Objects which are being instantiated using usebean or other tags)? We have a clustered Websphere appserver with 2 nodes and an IHS.

  • remove notification bar shadow in android app

    In android, the notification bar at the top has a shadow most of the time. However, sometimes, such as when an app has it's title-bar showing, or in some other cases (such as in the twitter app or the market) that shadow effect is gone. My guess is that the shadow is supposed to be there when the content underneath can scroll. In my app, however, the content underneath can't scroll, and I think the shadow looks bad on the top part of my logo. Does anyone know how to disable it?

    I am trying to write a "Hello World" web application using Tomcat and Eclipse, in order to familiarize myself with building Tomcat projects. So far I've gleaned from Google searches that I need to install Eclipse Web Tools Platform (WTP) to go ahead with it. But when I go to Help-Install New Software I can't find any software update site that is hosting WTP. My default "Available Software Sites" are Helios, Mylyn for Eclipse Helios, and the Eclipse Project Updates. Do I need to add a new software update site to install WTP? If so, what is the URL? If not, where can I find WTP? Thanks in advance.

    Hi! I'm developing a J2ME program with eclipse / WTK 2.5.2 and having problem with connecting two emulators using bluetooth. There is one server and one .client running on two different emulators. The problem is client program cannot discover any bluetooth device.     There is a lot of talk on the internet about how Maven is bad. I have been using some features of Maven for a few years now and the most important benefit in my view is the dependency management. Maven documentation is less than adequate, but generally when I need to accomplish something I figure it once and than it works (for example, I remember when I implemented signing the jars.) I don’t think that Maven is great, but it does solve some problems that without it would be a genuine pain. So, why does Maven has such a bad rep and what problems with Maven can I expect in the future? Maybe there are much better alternatives that I don't know about? (For example, I never looked Ivy in detail.) NOTE: This is not an attempt to cause an argument. It is an attempt to clear the FUD.

    Hi there, am relatively new to JMF but have gone through the documents and have a sufficient understanding of how it works. That been said am having some trouble implementing a the server side for RTPSockets. After looking at their illustrations and example. I am still abit confused. Am I to develop a datasource and also datasink classes to handle the transfer? What am trying to do is stream data from my application to the underlying network and receive it back through another application. I have and understand receiving but just can't get my head around the steps involved for sending. Any help would be most appreciated.

    Hi, I am trying to display a JLabel which has a few lines of text and an image as follows: String html = "<html> hello </br> <img src = \"/absolute/path/here\" height = \"30\" width =\"40\"/> </html>"; JLabel l = new JLabel(html); For the image all I get is a broken image, is it possible to nest img tags inside a JLabel? EDIT: I want to add multiple images to the JLabel so I don't think the use of an ImageIcon will do here. Thanks

    Hi all, I'm building an application that is a kind of registry. Think about the dictionary: you lookup for a word and it return something if the word is founded. Now, that registry is going to store valuable informations about companies, and some could be tempted to get the complete listing. My application use EJB 3.0 that replies to WS. So I was thinking about permits a maximum of 10 query per IP address per day. Storing the IP address and a counter on a table that would be empty by a script every night. Is it a good idea/practice to do so? If yes, how can I get the IP address on the EJB side? Is there a better way to prevent something to get all the data from my database? I've also though about CAPTCHA but I think it's a pain for the user, and sometime, they are difficult to read even for real human. Hope it's all clear since I'm not english... Thanks Alain

    We use TeamCity for continuous integration and Git for source control. Generally it works pretty well - convenient, modern and good us quick feedback when tests fails. There is a strange behavior related to Git merge specifics. Here are steps of the case: First developer pulls from master repo. Second developer pulls from master repo. First developer makes commit A locally. Second developer makes commit B locally; Second developer pushes commit B. First developer want to push commit A but unable because he have to pull commit B first. First developer pull's from remote reposity. First developer pushes commit A and generated merge branch commit. The history of commits in master repo is following: B second developer A first developer merge branch first developer. Now let's assume that Second Developer fixed some failing tests in his commit B. What TeamCity will do is following: Commit B arrives - TeamCity makes build #1 with all tests passed Commit A arrives - TeamCity makes build #2 (without commit B) test bar becomes Red! TeamCity thought that Pending "Merge Branch" commit doesn't contain any changes (any new files) - but it actually does contain the merge of commit B, so the TeamCity don't want to make new build here and make tests green. Here are two problems: 1. In our case we have failed tests returning back in second commit (commit A) 2. TeamCity don't want to make a new build and make tests back green. Does anybody know how to fix both of this problems. I consider some reasonable general approach.

    I am currently working on a project related to Websphere Portal 7.0 on Windows Server 2008 R2,64 bit. I am trying to integrate websphere portal with my custom user registry.I have completed all the steps required to implement custom user registry in portal as given in IBM documentation.I am adding my custom repository to the default federated repositories of Portal 7.0.I have made the required changes under VMM Federated CUR Properties section in wkplc.properties.I am using configengine.bat file to configure Portal with user registry. But even completing all the steps,when I am trying to open the Portal Login Page through http://ip-address:port_of_portal/wps/portal ,it is throwing an exception on the console: "Error 500: com.ibm.wps.resolver.data.exceptions.URIProcessingIOException: EJCBD0021E: The URI dav:fs-type1/themes/PageBuilder2/theme.html and parameters [['themeURI'=, 'mime-type'= could not be processed: [EJCBD0021E: The URI dav:fs-type1/themes/PageBuilder2/theme.html and parameters [['themeURI'=, 'mime-type'= could not be processed: EJPSG0002E: Requested Member does not exist.uid=portal,o=defaultWIMFileBasedRealm/null] " and in logs Systemout.log "EJPSB0005E: Exception occurred during creation of the principal with Name uid=portal,o=defaultWIMFileBasedRealm and Principal Type USER caused by com.ibm.portal.puma.MemberNotFoundException: EJPSG0002E: Requested Member does not exist.uid=portal,o=defaultWIMFileBasedRealm/null".     I'm working with eBay's LMS (Large Merchant Services) and kept running into the error: org.xml.sax.SAXException: SimpleDeserializer encountered a child element, which is NOT expected, in something it was trying to deserialize. After alot of trial and error I traced the problem down. The BulkDataExchange probably takes the XML payload, breaks it up, and send the pieces out to the Merchant or Trading API. The inner pieces of the payload then do not have the namespace and the get the error. This is a guess on my part but I wouldn't be surprised if this is what was going on behind the scenes.     Hi, I've a JSP/Servlet Web App that consist of more than one servlet (and some JSPs) I need to create an new HttpSession whenever the users access servlet A, knowing that, servlet A is the home page (i.e. he access it as the first servlet/page in the application) so far so good, I can write the following code at the start of the servlet A: HttpSession session = request.getSession(false); if (session == null) { logger.debug("starting new session..."); session = request.getSession(); // other staff here } But the problem is, if the user didn't close his browser (even if he closes the tab - in firefox for instance - the session will still be open), so when he try to open my site again, the last session will be re-used (in the rage of session timeout ofcourse), and this I don't need. I need whenever he access Servlet A, he got created a brand new HttpSession. but unfortunately, he may access this servlet twice per session based on some scenario!! Please help.

  • Where to put a glossary of important terms and patterns in documentation?

    Greetings. I want to document certain patterns in the code in order to build up a consistent terminology (in order to easen communication about the software). I am, however, unsure, where to define the terms given. In order to get on the same level, an example: I have a code generator. This code generator receives a certain InputStructure from the Parser (yes, the name InputStructure might be less than ideal). This InputStructure is then transformed into various subsequent datastructures (like an abstract description of the validation process). Each of these datastructures can be either transformed into another value of the same datastructure or it can be transformed into the next datastructure. This should sound like Pipes and Filters to some degree. Given this, I call an operation which takes a datastructures and constructs a value of the same datastructure a transformation, while I call an operation which takes a datastructure and produces a different follow-up datastructure a derivation. The final step of deriving a string containing code is called emitting. (So, overall, the codegenerator takes the input-structure and transforms, transforms, derives, transforms, derives and finally emits). I think emphasizing these terms will be benefitial in communications, because then it is easy to talk about things. If you hear "transformation", you know "Ok, I only need to think about these two datastructures", if you hear "emitting", you know "Ok, I only need to know this datastructure and the target language.". However, where do I document these patterns? The current code base uses visitors and offers classes called like ValidatorTransformationBase<ResultType> (or InputStructureTransformationBase<ResultType>, and so one and so on). I do not really want to add the definition of such terms to the interfaces, because in that case, I'd have to repeat myself on each and every interface, which clearly violates DRY. I am considering to emphasize the distinction between Transformations and Derivations by adding further interfaces (I would have to think about a better name for the TransformationBase-classes, but then I could do thinks like ValidatorTransformation extends ValidatorTransformationBase<Validator>, or ValidatorDerivationFromInputStructure extends InputStructureTransformation<Validator>). I also think I should add a custom page to the doxygen documentation already existing, as in "Glossary" or "Architecture Principles", which contains such principles. The only disadvantage of this would be that a contributor will need to find this page in order to actually learn about this. Am I missing possibilities or am I judging something wrong here in your opinion? -- Regards, Tetha

  • Swing data binding frameworks

    Hi Almost the same question has been asked a year ago, but the there has been some new development in this area. Selecting a (data binding) framework for swing application seems to be quite difficult. JSR-295 is abandoned, many swing frameworks which provide binding are work-in-progress, abandoned or too heavy for my quite simple app. JGoodies Swing suite is expensive, but luckily its libraries are free. Has anyone any real-world experience of new UFaceKit. It looks promising, but quite immature. I am particularly interested in Swing implementation and documentation. Any insight on UFaceKits development schedule would be appreciated, because I can hold by framework choice for a while. Requirements are not anything fancy, just working binding with a nice API. I also found Mogwai dataBinding, but it seems quite incomplete and requires manual synchronization activation, which makes it useless compared to coarse grained synchronization easily written by hand. Incomplete frameworks include at least Spring RCP and many JSR-296 forks. So, is the JGoodies data binding really the only realistic choice? Or are there any other viable solutions available?

The problem is the rowmapper in the test is different from the rowmapper in the DAO. So the expectation is not met. I tried to put with around the sql query and with(any(RowMapper.class)) for the rowmapper. It wouldn't work either, complains about "not all parameters were given explicit matchers: either all parameters must be specified by matchers or all must be specified by values, you cannot mix matchers and values"

    In JCR 1 you could do: final InputStream in = zip.getInputStream(zip.getEntry(zipEntryName)); node.setProperty(JcrConstants.JCR_CONTENT, in); But that's deprecated in JCR 2 as detailed at http://www.day.com/maven/jsr170/javadocs/jcr-2.0/javax/jcr/Node.html#setProperty%28java.lang.String,%20java.io.InputStream%29 That says I should be using node.setProperty(String, Binary) but I don't see any way to turn my inputStream into a Binary. Can anyone point me to docs or example code for this?

  • AsyncTask and Contexts

    So I'm working out my first multi-threaded application using Android with the AsyncTask class. I'm trying to use it to fire off a Geocoder in a second thread, then update the UI with onPostExecute, but I keep running into an issue with the proper Context. I kind of hobbled my way through using Contexts on the main thread, but I'm not exactly sure what the Context is or how to use it on background threads, and I haven't found any good examples on it. Any help? Here is an excerpt of what I'm trying to do: public class GeoCode extends AsyncTask<GeoThread, Void, GeoThread> { @Override protected GeoThread doInBackground(GeoThread... i) { List<Address> addresses = null; Geocoder geoCode = null; geoCode = new Geocoder(null); //Expects at minimum Geocoder(Context context); addresses = geoCode.getFromLocation(GoldenHour.lat, GoldenHour.lng, 1); } } It keeps failing at the sixth line there, because of the improper Context.

    Hi What is the common or best practice to structure the location of your exception classes? Let's say you have the packages/namespaces myproject.person (models and DAOs for persons) and myproject.order (models and DAOs for orders) and the exceptions PersonException and OrderException. Should I put the exceptions in their corresponding packages or in a separate package for exceptions (e.g. myproject.exceptions)? The first approach seems more reasonable (because it's sorted by functionality). But there the question arises where you should put exceptions that are related to both? e.g. a ConstraintViolationException Thanks
