  • Android: Can not send http post

    - by jpartogi
    Hi all, I've been banging my head trying to figure out how to send a post method in Android. This is how my code look like: public class HomeActivity extends Activity implements OnClickListener { private TextView textView; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); textView = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.text); Button button = (Button)findViewById(R.id.button); button.setOnClickListener(this); } @Override public void onClick(View view) { HttpPost httpMethod = new HttpPost("http://www.example.com/"); httpMethod.addHeader("Accept", "text/html"); httpMethod.addHeader("Content-Type", "application/xml"); AndroidHttpClient client = AndroidHttpClient.newInstance("Android"); String result = null; try { HttpResponse response = client.execute(httpMethod); textView.setText(response.toString()); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); Log.i(HomeActivity.class.toString(), result); textView.setText("Invoked webservice"); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); Log.e(HomeActivity.class.toString(), e.getMessage()); textView.setText("Something wrong:" + e.getMessage()); } } } What am I doing wrong here? Is there anything that I may need to configure from the Android emulator to get this working? Thank you for your help.

  • BlazeDS StreamingAMF: How to detect when flex client closes the connection?

    - by Adrian Pirvulescu
    Hello, I have a Flex application that connects to a BlazeDS server using the StreamingAMF channel. On the server-side the logic is handled by a custom adapter that extends ActionScriptAdapter and implements FlexSessionListener and FlexClientListener interfaces. I am asking how can I detect which "flex-client" has closed a connection when for example the user is closing the browser? (so I can clean some infos inside the database) I tried using the following: 1. To manually manage the command messages: @Override public Object manage(final CommandMessage commandMessage) { switch (commandMessage.getOperation()) { case CommandMessage.SUBSCRIBE_OPERATION: System.out.println("SUBSCRIBE_OPERATION = " + commandMessage.getHeaders()); break; case CommandMessage.UNSUBSCRIBE_OPERATION: System.out.println("UNSUBSCRIBE_OPERATION = " + commandMessage.getHeaders()); break; } return super.manage(commandMessage); } But the clientID's are always different from the ones that came. 2. Listening for sessionDestroyed and clientDestroyed events @Override public void clientCreated(final FlexClient client) { client.addClientDestroyedListener(this); System.out.println("clientCreated = " + client.getId()); } @Override public void clientDestroyed(final FlexClient client) { System.out.println("clientDestroyed = " + client.getId()); } @Override public void sessionCreated(final FlexSession session) { System.out.println("sessionCreated = " + session.getId()); session.addSessionDestroyedListener(this); } @Override public void sessionDestroyed(final FlexSession session) { System.out.println("sessionDestroyed = " + session.getId()); } But those sessionDestroyed and clientDestroyed methods are never called. :(

  • Calling web services from your JSF code

    - by Abel Morelos
    Let's say that you have a presentation tier in JSF, and that your business tier is accessed using web services. How would you call your web services from JSF? I was considering to have my backing beans to call the web services, but I just though I could use Ajax with JSF in order to connect to the web services. What would you choose and why? Any other choice you could recommend? Thanks.

  • Better to build or buy a compute grid platform?

    - by James B
    I am looking to do some quite processor-intensive brute force processing for string matching. I have run my prototype in a multi-threaded environment and compared the performance to an implementation using Gridgain with a couple of nodes (also multithreaded). The performance I observed was that my Gridgain implementation performed slower to my multithreaded implementation. It could be the case that there was a flaw in my gridgain implementation, but it was only a prototype, and I thought the results were indicative. So my question is this: What are the advantages of having to learn and then build an implementation for a particular grid platform (hadoop, gridgain, or EC2 if going hosted - other suggestions welcome), when one could fairly easily put together a lightweight compute grid platform with a much shallower learning curve?...i.e. what do we get for free with these cloud/grid platforms that are worth having/tricky to implement? (Please note, I don't have any need for a data grid) Cheers, -James (p.s. Happy to make this community wiki if needbe)

  • Play framework 1.x on Tomcat - httpOnly cookies

    - by aishwarya
    I'm setting application.session.httpOnly=true in the application.conf and generating a war file and deploying on tomcat. I still see the cookie generated as HttpOnly=No and it is editable. This is an issue with play 1.x running on tomcat 6 (i.e. servlet api 2.x). Apparently, http only flag for cookies was only introduced in servlet 3.0 and so is only available in tomcat 7+ has anybody identified a workaround for this so far (so I could have http only cookies for play 1.x on tomcat 6.x ) ? the httpOnly flag on context in tomcat only works for tomcat's jsessionid cookie... also, can I run a play 1.x app on servlet 3.0 ? PS: This was also posted on the play framework's google groups but we did not receive a response and so posting on SO.

  • How can I turn a string of text into a BigInteger representation for use in an El Gamal cryptosystem

    - by angstrom91
    I'm playing with the El Gamal cryptosystem, and my goal is to be able to encipher and decipher long sequences of text. I have come up with a method that works for short sequences, but does not work for long sequences, and I cannot figure out why. El Gamal requires the plaintext to be an integer. I have turned my string into a byte[] using the .getBytes() method for Strings, and then created a BigInteger out of the byte[]. After encryption/decryption, I turn the BigInteger into a byte[] using the .toByteArray() method for BigIntegers, and then create a new String object from the byte[]. This works perfectly when i call ElGamalEncipher with strings up to 129 characters. With 130 or more characters, the output produced is garbled. Can someone suggest how to solve this issue? Is this an issue with my method of turning the string into a BigInteger? If so, is there a better way to turn my string of text into a BigInteger and back? Below is my encipher/decipher code. public static BigInteger[] ElGamalEncipher(String plaintext, BigInteger p, BigInteger g, BigInteger r) { // returns a BigInteger[] cipherText // cipherText[0] is c // cipherText[1] is d BigInteger[] cipherText = new BigInteger[2]; BigInteger pText = new BigInteger(plaintext.getBytes()); // 1: select a random integer k such that 1 <= k <= p-2 BigInteger k = new BigInteger(p.bitLength() - 2, sr); // 2: Compute c = g^k(mod p) BigInteger c = g.modPow(k, p); // 3: Compute d= P*r^k = P(g^a)^k(mod p) BigInteger d = pText.multiply(r.modPow(k, p)).mod(p); // C =(c,d) is the ciphertext cipherText[0] = c; cipherText[1] = d; return cipherText; } public static String ElGamalDecipher(BigInteger c, BigInteger d, BigInteger a, BigInteger p) { //returns the plaintext enciphered as (c,d) // 1: use the private key a to compute the least non-negative residue // of an inverse of (c^a)' (mod p) BigInteger z = c.modPow(a, p).modInverse(p); BigInteger P = z.multiply(d).mod(p); byte[] plainTextArray = P.toByteArray(); String output = null; try { output = new String(plainTextArray, "UTF8"); } catch (Exception e) { } return output; }

  • Spring - SessionAttribute problem

    - by Max
    Hello, I want to implement something like this: @Controller @SessionAttributes("promotion") class PromotionController { @RequestMapping("showPromo") void showPromotionInfo( @RequestParam("promId") String promotionId, @ModelAttribute Promotion promotion, Errors errors ) { promotion = Promotions.get(promotionId); if (promotion == null || promotion.validates() == false) { errors.reject("promotion.invalid"); } return "prom"; } } The code is invalid, wont work and has some bad errors, but I don't know how to write it better. When user comes to an URL "showPromo?promId=15", controller should validate if the promotion is valid (outdated/non-existent/etc.). If it is valid - it should show it's information and save the promotion to model and session. If it's not - it should show some error about promotion being invalid. Problem is, I need to save the promotion in the session (for several requests) and don't want to use direct session management. Is it currently possible with Spring? Or am I doing something wrong? Could you please provide the optimal solution to my problem using Spring 3? Thanks in advance.

  • Parsing complex string using regex

    - by wojtek_z
    My regex skills are not very good and recently a new data element has thrown my parser into a loop Take the following string "+USER=Bob Smith-GROUP=Admin+FUNCTION=Read/FUNCTION=Write" Previously I had the following for my regex : [+\\-/] Which would turn the result into USER=Bob Smith GROUP=Admin FUNCTION=Read FUNCTION=Write FUNCTION=Read But now I have values with dashes in them which is causing bad output New string looks like "+USER=Bob Smith-GROUP=Admin+FUNCTION=Read/FUNCTION=Write/FUNCTION=Read-Write" Which gives me the following result , and breaks the key = value structure. USER=Bob Smith GROUP=Admin FUNCTION=Read FUNCTION=Write FUNCTION=Read Write Can someone help me formulate a valid regex for handling this or point me to some key / value examples. Basically I need to be able to handle + - / signs in order to get combinations.

However I have one operation method that calls 3 other methods, but i don't know what type of data and howmany I have to put in my operatinMethod() " cuase switch only gets one); AND also in my mainMethod() for calling the operationMehod(); itself? please let me know if i'm not clear? • JDK-7 SwingWorker deadlocks?

    - by kd304
    I have a small image processing application which does multiple things at once using SwingWorker. However, if I run the following code (oversimplified excerpt), it just hangs on JDK 7 b70 (windows) but works in 6u16. It starts a new worker within another worker and waits for its result (the real app runs multiple sub-workers and waits for all this way). Did I use some wrong patterns here (as mostly there is 3-5 workers in the swingworker-pool, which has limit of 10 I think)? import javax.swing.SwingUtilities; import javax.swing.SwingWorker; public class Swing { static SwingWorker<String, Void> getWorker2() { return new SwingWorker<String, Void>() { @Override protected String doInBackground() throws Exception { return "Hello World"; } }; } static void runWorker() { SwingWorker<String, Void> worker = new SwingWorker<String, Void>() { @Override protected String doInBackground() throws Exception { SwingWorker<String, Void> sw2 = getWorker2(); sw2.execute(); return sw2.get(); } }; worker.execute(); try { System.out.println(worker.get()); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } public static void main(String[] args) { SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { runWorker(); } }); } }

  • alternatedocroot

    - by ring bearer
    Using Sun Glassfish Enterprise server v2.1.1 I am using "alternatedocroot" via sun-web.xml for my web application to abstract out static content from actual deploy-able code (EAR/WAR) What I have is a cluster of two server instances distributed across two physical hosts - HOST1 and HOST2. "alternatedocroot" points to /data/static-content/ on both HOST1 and HOST2. Would DAS (Domain application server )take care of syncing /data/static-content between HOST1 and HOST2 if I use syncinstances=true option while starting up the cluster? Thanks!

  • Writing a Servlet that checks to see if JSP's exist and forwards to another JSP if they aren't

    - by Omar Kooheji
    I've beeb tasked with writing a servlet that intercepts a call to and JSP in a specific directoy, check that the file exists and if it does just forwarding to that file, if if doesn't I'm to forward to a default JSP. I've setup the web.xml as follows: <servlet> <description>This is the description of my J2EE component</description> <display-name>This is the display name of my J2EE component</display-name> <servlet-name>CustomJSPListener</servlet-name> <servlet-class> ... CustomJSPListener</servlet-class> <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup> </servlet> ... <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>CustomJSPListener</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/custom/*</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> And the doGet method of the servlet is as follows: public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { logger.debug(String.format("Intercepted a request for an item in the custom directory [%s]",request.getRequestURL().toString())); String requestUri = request.getRequestURI(); // Check that the file name contains a text string if (requestUri.toLowerCase(Locale.UK).contains("someText")){ logger.debug(String.format("We are interested in this file [%s]",requestUri)); File file = new File(requestUri); boolean fileExists = file.exists(); logger.debug(String.format("Checking to see if file [%s] exists [%s].",requestUri,fileExists)); // if the file exists just forward it to the file if (fileExists){ getServletConfig().getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher( requestUri).forward(request,response); } else { // Otherwise redirect to default.jsp getServletConfig().getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher( "/custom/default.jsp").forward(request,response); } } else { // We aren't responsible for checking this file exists just pass it on to the requeseted jsp getServletConfig().getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher( requestUri).forward(request,response); } } This seems to result in an error 500 from tomcat, I think this is because the servlet is redirecting to the same folder which is then being intercepted again by the servlet, resulting in an infinite loop. Is there a better way to do this? I'm lead to believe that I could use filters to do this, but I don't know very much about them.

  • How can I load file into web app through certain periods?

    - by Elena
    Hi all! I have next task: I need to load the same file into my web app several times, for example - twice a day! Suppose in that file I have information, that changes, and I need to load this info into my app to change the statistics for example. How can I load file several times (twice an hour, or twice a day)? What should I use? Is any algorithm to do that? I am not allowed to use external libraries like Quartz Scheduler. So I need to do it with Thread and/or Timer. Can anybody give me some example or algorithm how to do it. Where can I create the entry point to my Thread, can I do it in managed bean or I need some sort of filter/listener/servlet. I works with jsf and richFaces. Maybe in this technologies there are some algorithms to solve my problem. Any ideas? Thanks very much for help!
