  • Visual Studio keeps inserting absurd default property value in designer file

    i have a simple usercontrol with following properties: public partial class RichTextEditorControl : UserControl { public string EditorText { get { return richTextBox1.Rtf; } set { richTextBox1.Rtf = value; } } public string EditorPlainText { get { return richTextBox1.Text; } set { richTextBox1.Text = value; } } } Now whenever I EDIT a form which contains this control, VS fills its designer file with the following code line, and then throws a designer error : this.richTextEditorControl1.EditorPlainText = global::Project.Resources.MyResources_de_DE.SomeString; Now I don't know where it gets this value from ??? I've searched entire solution, and nowhere there's mention of this var, except for 1 file, where it's needed ... Moreover, the code VS writes, has an error in it ?! It doesn't compile ... The only thing I can do is edit the designer file, but the next time I have to edit the form with the designer, the same error happens again ... Where on earth is VS getting this value from ??

  • Not seeing Sync Block in Object Layout

    It's my understanding the all .NET object instances begin with an 8 byte 'object header': a synch block (4 byte pointer into a SynchTableEntry table), and a type handle (4 byte pointer into the types method table). I'm not seeing this in VS 2010 RC's (CLR 4.0) debugger memory windows. Here's a simple class that will generate a 16 byte instance, less the object header. class Program { short myInt = 2; // 4 bytes long myLong = 3; // 8 bytes string myString = "aString"; // 4 byte object reference // 16 byte instance static void Main(string[] args) { new Program(); return; } } An SOS object dump tells me that the total object size is 24 bytes. That makes sense. But I can only account for 20 bytes of it, the type handle and the instance fields. There is no sign of a synch block pointer. The object size is reported as 24 bytes, but the debugger is showing that it only occupies 20 bytes of memory. I'm reading Drill Into .NET Framework Internals to See How the CLR Creates Runtime Objects, and expected the first 4 bytes of my object to be a zeroed synch block pointer, as shown in Figure 8 of that article. Granted, this is an article about CLR 1.1. I'm just wondering if the difference between what I'm seeing and what this early article reports is a change in either the debugger's display of object layout, or in the way the CLR lays out objects in versions later than 1.1. Anyway, can anyone account for my 4 missing bytes?

    Hi, When I generate Javadoc for my android project in eclipse, there are lots of warnings like cannot find symbol symbol : class TextView and warning - Tag @see: reference not found: android.app.Dialog I also tried -link http://developer.android.com/reference/ -link http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/ in Extra javadoc options tab in Configure Javadoc Arguments dialog of eclipse-Export Javadoc. But only -link http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/ is working i.e for String class link http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/lang/String.html?is-external=true is generated. but for android.app.Dialog , no link is generated. Please help !!

Can I maintain the inheritance which is marked up?     Given the following inputs: line1 = "Hey | Hello | Good | Morning" line2 = "Hey , Hello , Good , Morning" file1=length1=name1=title1=nil Using ',' to split the string as follows: file1, length1, name1, title1 = line2.split(/,\s*/) I get the following output: puts file1,length1,name1,title1 >Hey >Hello >Good >Morning However, using '|' to split the string I receive a different output: file1, length1, name1, title1 = line2.split(/|\s*/) puts file1,length1,name1,title1 >H >e >y Both the strings are same except the separating symbol (a comma in first case and a pipe in second case). The format of the split function I am using is also the same except, of course, for the delimiting character. What causes this variation?

  • How can I get the name of the Lead Owner in a Lead custom formula field?

    I've got an application that reads Lead records from Salesforce via the API and I want to link the Lead Owner field to an attribute in the application. The Lead Owner field doesn't up in the list of available fields but all the custom fields do. So, my first attempt at a solution was to create a custom field that displayed the Lead Owner name. In the SF formula editor, as far as I can tell, it doesn't display the actual data field but instead displays the ID string. Which is pretty meaningless in the context that I need it for. Is there a way that we can get at the data in the object that the ID string references? I have the RED BOX but need the GREEN BOX.

    I need to post to a payment gateway. The example PHP script for the gateway simply sets the XML like this curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $xmlRequest); // $xmlRequest is just a string of XML In all of my experience, generally you need to use an array with key/values or a string similar to GET params. I am using Kohana, and tracked down a cURL module. It accepts the POST key/values as an array only. Now, I could ditch the module and throw some cURL straight in, but I am using this module fine all throughout the site, so would prefer to use it here. So, my question is, how does that first one work? Does it just POST the whole thing without any named key? Is there a default key I could use for an array to get the module to work?

    I want to be able to get a list of issues given a: Project Name and Release Version this seems like a basic JIRA soap API 101 request It seems, looking at the documentation: http://docs.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/api/rpc-jira-plugin/latest/index.html?com/atlassian/jira/rpc/soap/JiraSoapService.html you can get issues by: Filter SearchTerms SearchTerms and Project but not the above. Is this a complete oversight or i am missing something i would expect to see something like this: RemoteIssue[] issues = _soapService.getIssues(string project_, string version_) any help? UPDATE: I see that JIRA 4.0 is out but i can't find any documentation if the API has changed to support this request above. Can anyone find this link to answer that questions.

    I have an application which I'm adding pictures and these are automatically converted to binary and stored in a single file. how can I save several images, I keep in an XML file start and size of each set of refente to an image byte. But it has several images in bytes, whenever I try to select a different set of bytes just opening the same image. I would like your help to be able to fix this and open different images.     I have some xml files, which are used in my application. They are stored in the same folder with application , in subfolder DATA: "C:\MyProject\DATA\". But after i install the program f.e. "C:\Project"(DATA folder- "C:\Project\DATA" i got the error: "folder C:\DATA is not found". What i need to change to make things working after deployment. Why it looks for the DATA folder on 1 level higher?

  • Cure for puzzle piece programming habbits?

    Even though I went to a decent CS school, I was still taught with the mentality of programming with puzzle pieces. By puzzle pieces I mean, looking up code segments at each step of the development process and adding them together as needed. Eventually gathering all of the pieces and having a properly working program. So as an example, if in my program the next step is to tokenize a string, I go to google and search "how do I tokenize a string in language". All instead of critically thinking about its implementation. I personally don't think its a very good way to program and I always seem to forget everything that I have searched for. So how can I get out of this puzzle piece mode of programmer that I was taught.

  • Can you make VB.NET compilation as strict as C#?

    In VB.NET, it is entirely possible to pass an integer as a string parameter to a method without calling .ToString() - it's even possible to call .ToString without the ()'s. The code will run without a problem, VB will interpret the integer as a string without having been told to. In C#, these would cause compilation errors - you are required to call .ToString() and to call it correctly in that situation before it will compile. Is there a way to make the VB compilation process check for the same things as the C# compilation process? Would it be best practice in a mixed team to force this check?

  • MySQL SELECT WHERE returning empty with long numbers, although they are there

    Alright, so basically the most simple query ever... I've done this a million times... SELECT * FROM purchased_items WHERE uid = '$uid' if $uid == 123 It works fine and returns all data in rows where uid is 123 if $uid == 351565051447743 It returns empty... I'm positive 351565051447743 is a possible uid in some rows, i literally copied and pasted it into the table. $uid is a string, and is being passed as a string. This is something i've done a million times, and i've never had this simple query not work. Any ideas why this is not working?

But when I then check this in the main program like this, it is all messed up: for (i=0; i<10000; i++) cout << largefilecontents[i] << endl; So within the function LoadLargeFile(), the results are fine, but without LoadLargeFile(), the results are all messed up. My guess is that the char ** &lines part of the function isn't right, but I do not know what this should be. Could someone help me? Thank you in advance!

  • Contacts activity doesn't return data

    In my app I simply open the list of activities and when a contact is clicked I attempt to retrieve the name of the contact selected and put it into a string. The app crashes in the onActivityResult() function. At here, $dateParam = $dateObj->format("Y-m"); I set default format is "Y-m". Is the default format never change? I don't want hard set format "Y-m-d H:i:s" in code, instead of, I think get format string from system to use is better. How do I get default datetime format string from mySQL???
