• How to continue copying on error with copyDirectory from FileUtils (Apache Commons IO 2.4)

  I am trying to copy files from one folder to another using the FileUtils method "static void copyDirectory(File srcDir, File destDir)" from apache commons io (2.4) with the following code: String srcDir = "/sourceDirectory/examples/"; String destDir = "/tmp/examples/"; try{ FileUtils.copyDirectory(new File(srcDir), new File(destDir)); } catch (IOException e){ e.printStackTrace(); } The file structure looks like the following: examples/ (read access) examples/.subdirectory (NO access) examples/file1.txt (read access) examples/file2.txt (read access) examples/subdirectory2/file1.txt (read access) examples/subdirectory2/file2.txt (NO access) The problem is, that in srcDir there are a few files and one subdirectory I don't have access to. FileUtils.copyDirectory throws an "java.io.FileNotFoundException: .subdirectory (Permission denied)" and aborts. Is it possible to ignore those files I don't have permission to and just copy all the other files I can read?

• Warning on standard headers after upgrading to NetBeans 6.8...

  After upgrading to NetBeans 6.8 on my Mac, some standard headers generate a warning. The warning is "There are unresolved includes inside <string>". <string> is just an example and <iostream> and <map> have the same warning. The project builds and runs fine; however, I would like to resolve these warnings. Has anybody else seen this problem? And is there any way to make that warning go away? I also didn't see this problem when I upgraded to 6.8 on Linux.

• Centralized way of organizing urls in Jersey?

  Forgive me if I am asking an obvious question (maybe I missed it in the docs somewhere?) but has anyone found a good way to organize their URLs in Jersey Java framework? I mean organizing them centrally in your Java source code, so that you can be sure there are not two classes that refer to the same Url. For example django has a really nice regex-based matching. I was thinking of doing something like an enum: enum Urls{ CARS ("cars"), CAR_INFO ("car", "{info}"); public Urls(String path, String args) ... } but you can imagine that gets out of hand pretty quickly if you have urls like: cars/1/wheels/3 where you need multiple path-ids interleaved with one another... Any tips?

• Are there any test data generator tools which can be used with selenium/Nunit?

  Hi, I was wondering if there was anything that provides test data for injecting into Nunit tests? I'm sure I came across something recently that does this but I couldn't find it again. Basically the idea is that I could use selenium and Nunit to create new customers within the system automatically. So I could have selenium type in customer names generated from test generator (the < DataGenerator is just an imaginary class): e.g. dim sFirstName as string = < DataGenerator >.GetRandomFirstName() dim sLastName as string = < DataGenerator >.GetRandomLastName() selenium.type("firstname_field",sFirstName) selenium.type("lastname_field",sLastName ) I've already seen SQLDataGenerator from Redgate which has a cmd line wrapper class, but I was wondering if there was anything else.

  1) What is int? Is it any different from the struct System.Int32? I understand that the former is a C# alias (typedef or #define equivalant) for the CLR type System.Int32. Is this understanding correct? 2) When we say: IComparable x = 10; Is that like saying: IComparable x = new System.Int32(); But we can't new a struct, right? or in C like syntax: struct System.In32 *x; x=>someThing = 10; 3) What is String with a capitalized S? I see in Reflector that it is the sealed String class, which, of course, is a reference type, unlike the System.Int32 above, which is a value type. What is string, with an uncapitalized s, though? Is that also the C# alias for this class? Why can I not see the alias definitions in Reflector? 4) Try to follow me down this subtle train of thought, if you please. We know that a storage location of a particular type can only access properties and members on its interface. • Why not System.Void?

  I have no practical reason for knowing this answer, but I'm curious anyway... In C#, trying to use System.Void will produce a compilation error: error CS0673: System.Void cannot be used from C# -- use typeof(void) to get the void type object As I understood it, void is simply an alias of System.Void. So, I don't understand why 'System.Void' can't be used directly as you might with 'string' for 'System.String' for example. I would love to read an explanation for this! Incidentally, System.Void can be successfully used with the Mono compiler, instead of Microsoft's .Net, and there it appears equivalent to using the void keyword. This must therefore be a compiler-enforced restriction rather than a CLR restriction, right?

• What configure options were used when building gcc / libstdc++?

  After reading about the problem of passing empty std::string objects between DLLs and EXEs, I am concerned about the configure options used to build my gcc / libstdc++. More specific I want to know if --enable-fully-dynamic-string was used during ./configure. I'm using MinGW 4.4.0 on Windows XP. Does anybody know the configuration used to build this release? Is there a general way to find this information for any installation of GNU gcc? The gcc manual gives me no hint on this topic. Thanks for your input!

• Passing derived objects in a constructure

  This is a bit of a convoluted question, hopefully I can make it clear. I am finding that this may not be possible, but am trying to see if anybody has a solution. I have four classes, two are core classes and two are those core classes extended: extUser Extends coreUser extSecurity Extends coreSecurity In the constructor for coreUser you have this: public coreUser(string id, ref coreSecurity cs) When trying to extend coreUser you would have this: public extUser(string id ref extSecurity es) : base(id, ref es) This fails because es is of type, extSecurity and the base class expects a type of coreSecurity. I've not found anyway to cast this to allow for me to override this base class in C#. In VB it works just fine. Ideas?

  Ran into some questionable behavior using lists of parameterized Class objects: ArrayList<Class<String>> classList = new ArrayList<Class<String>>(); classList.add(Integer.class); //compile error Class intClass = Integer.class; classList.add(intClass); //legal apparently, as long as intClass is not parameterized Found the same behavior for LinkedList, haven't tried other collections. Is it like this for a reason? Or have I stumbled on something?

CREATE TABLE test_table ( id bigint(20) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, a varchar(255) NOT NULL, b varchar(255) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (id) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8; Please note that a and b get identical MySQL column definitions despite the fact a is defined as non-nullable and b is nullable in the GORM mappings. What am I doing wrong? I'm running Grails 1.3.6.

  Hi guys, I'm running on Windows 7 and I've a problem with my app at boot. Within my app I use some threads and external dll (sqlite3.dll, etc...). If I start my app on reboot, MyApp crashes after few seconds. Why I've this problem?

  I have to parse a String that can assume hex values or other non-hex values 0xff, 0x31 or A, PC, label, and so on. I use this code to divide the two cases: String input = readInput(); try { int hex = Integer.decode(input); // use hex ... } catch (NumberFormatException e) { // input is not a hex, continue parsing } Can this code be considered "ugly" or difficult to read? Are there other (maybe more elegant) solutions? EDIT : I want to clarify that (in my case) a wrong input doesn't exist: i just need to distinguish if it is a hex number, or not. And just for completeness, i'm making a simple assebler for DCPU-16.

  I'm using spring4gwt in my project. I have the following login service implementation: @Service("loginService") public class LoginServiceImpl extends RemoteServiceServlet implements LoginService { @Override @Transactional(propagation = Propagation.REQUIRED, rollbackFor = Exception.class) public UserBean checkUser(String userName, String password) throws Exception { HttpSession httpSession = getThreadLocalRequest().getSession(); } } When i call the loginService.checkUser("test","test") (In hosted mode), I get a null pointer exception, as getThreadLocalRequest() returns NULL instead of the actual session. I didn't try in web mode yet. Why would I get a null session ? Does it have something to do with spring4gwt ? Thank you

  Possible Duplicate: Property Name and need its value Hi, This one should be easy for most people. I'd like to access a normal variable in an object (let's say example) by using a variable value. E.g.: I have a an array with a list of variable names and I want to get the information from the object by using them. Obviously this is wrong: string[] variable_names = new string[] {"name", "surname"}; myObject.variable_names[0] = 1; myObject.variable_names[1] = 1; In other languages (not C#) I use: myObject[variable_names[0]] = 1; I know the example looks stupid but it was just a way of explaining it. Let say I have opened a java file in the editor that has the following fields in it: private String world = " world!" private String hello = "hello" + world; When I select "hello" in the Outline view I'm able to get IFiled selection and I have access to it's properties, but what i need is the true value of the field ("hello world!"). • poplib and email module will not reloop through a message if it has alread read it

  I'm currently trying to write a script that gets messages from my gmail account but I'm noticing a problem. If poplib loops through a message in my inbox it will never loop through it again.
