  • using html text in as3

    Hello, i'm having a bit of a question, I have some newspost from my database. But there are tags in it and some tags aswell. My questiion is how i should go about it to get the newspost showing as it should be. The images should get shown instead of the tags etc. I know i'll have to work with a loader to use the images but how would as3 recognize them? Is there anyway i could use htmltext or something so as3 knows automaticly where the imagetags are? Also, if i add the image would it be possible to wrap the text around it? So i dont have an empty space next to the image?

So I can do a simple operation "A_1_2.buttonMode = true;" to all my MC's (in an array for example) without writing every line (lot of MC's on layer and lot of lines).

  • [Flex] Using same set of columns in AdvancedDataGrid in a TabBar

    I have a TabBar control which will show an AdvancedDataGrid with same set of columns on different tabs, i am doing this so that i can show similar data on different tab pages. Column heading will be the same on all grids, is there a way I can put all column headings in an array and set that as columns of data grid? I tried setting the columns property but it doesn't work. Also I need to set ID property for a single column in the grid to set it the treecolumn so one column must have individual id field too.

    I have a button containing 2 child buttons. I want to be able to keep the mouse over state active, when I rollover a child button. At present it fires mouse out when i rollover a child button, I suspect this is correct, but not what I want to happen. Any ideas how to get around this?

    I've just started to work with DoubleClick Studio. I've successfully created a Flash expanding ad with CS4 that is mostly scripted and uses the Document class option. Now for some reason the back end of DoubleClick Studio thinks I've imported the Enabler component twice. I've checked my files numerous of times but can't find the root cause. Any help is much appreciated :)

    I'm trying to send some data to PHP using HTTPService POST but for some reason it's not working. The same example works with GET but not with POST: private function start():void{ var param:Object = {}; param.date = "2010-10-10"; userRequest.send(param); userRequest.addEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT, result); userRequest.addEventListener(FaultEvent.FAULT, fault); } private function fault(e:FaultEvent):void{ trace(e.message); } private function result(e:ResultEvent):void{ trace(e.result); } <mx:HTTPService id="userRequest" url="http://localhost:8888/api" useProxy="false" method="POST"/> And here's the PHP code: $d = $_POST['date']; echo $d; if($d == ""){ trace("Date not found!"); die(); } This is the error I'm getting: "Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: http://localhost:8888/api" But when I change the method in HTTPService to GET and in PHP I get the result as expected - PHP sends back the date: 2010-10-10 What am I doing wrong?

    I have ItemRenderers that need to listen for events. When they hear an event (and when data changes), they dispatch an event with their current data value. As item renderers are reused, each of them is going to add its callback in set data(value...)and pass the callback function in the event as well as the current data value. So, the listener of the item renderer's bubbling event will set someEventDispatcher.addEventListener("someEvent", itemRendererEvent.callbackListener). This will happen more than once. Does setting the same event listener on the same event for the same dispatcher waste resources? Does the displatcher see that it already has the listener?

Then the design of the has changed and instead of black background i got ragial gradient( So, i need to make the corners of the swf transparent, but don't know how. wmode=transparent and backgroudAlpha param doesn't work. Need some help... :/ It's important that one solution i found works on Flash Builder Beta 2, but didn't work on Adobe flash builder 4.

For example: I have function: public function bla(data:Vector.<Object>):void { ... } this function expects Vector as parameter. I can pass parameters this way var newVector:Vector.<Object> = new Vector.<Object>(); newVector.push("bla1"); newVector.push("bla2"); bla(newVector); Can I do it in one line in Flex?   • Wrapping a Flash/AS3 Sprite as a Flex MXML component

    For my game, I am making the main game view as a plain Flash/AS3 class, something like: public class GameArena extends Sprite This is simply a big rectangle in which game objects are drawn, so no need for fancy UI and I want to keep the main game engine Flex-free so I can use Sprites rather than heavier Flex components. However for the entire game/app, I do still want to use Flex for GUI/layout. So I thought I could create a Flex class subclassing UIComponent, which has a GameView object as a child... now I can use this in MXML as a standard Flex component. e.g. public class ArenaView extends UIComponent { public var gameArena:GameArena; override protected function createChildren():void { super.createChildren(); if (!gameArena) { gameArena = new GameArena(); gameArena.width = 200; gameArena.height = 200; addChild(gameArena); } } } Then I have a simple line in my main App MXML like: <logic:Arena x="0" y="0" width="50%" height="100%" name="TestArenaPanel" /> But so far while my code compiles, the Flash class isn't getting rendered. Maybe it's something simple, but I wanted to ask if this is a reasonable approach, or there is something better? BTW: I've had the "should Flex be used" conversation many times.     I'm trying to select the id of a textArea when it's focused in <s:TextArea id="textarea1" focusIn="selectId(event)" /> selectId(event){ event.target.id; } Problem is TextArea is made up of RichEditableText so target doesn't actually refer to TextArea. I've tried event.target.parent.id but still not getting there. Anyone knows how to get to the bottom of this?

It should be possible to created on flash, silverlight, ajax etc. And should be change parameters easyly via javascript or sth. But i didn't like google chart beacuse you cannot change background of map, you cannot use different colors for some countries. Do you have any suggestions about it ?

I have tried all combinations and do not get an error BUT i don't get a reflection either. I have been on the forums for the site but cant find any info.   • Forcing size of a complex Flash object.

    As I've found recently, setting width/height properties on a Sprite only forces the Sprite to fit the given dimensions by scaling the actual size, which is calculated by Flash based on the rendered content. This leaves me confused. If I have a custom Sprite subclass which draws using Graphics, how can I do layout before an initial render - the size will be zero until it is first drawn? For a more complex issue, let's say I have a 2D game world with objects spread over a wide area with world coordinates from (0,0) to (5000,5000), where each object has a size of maybe up to 100x100. I want to have a Flash component which is the "game window", and has a fixed size like 400x300, rendering part of the game world. So how do I force the game window size to 400x300 pixels? I can draw a 400x300 rectangle to get the size correct but then if I draw any objects which are partly in-view, they can screw this up. Is the right approach to provide a custom setSize(w,h) method which is used rather than width & height setters? But even so, is there no way to make a Sprite force to the size I want? Do you really have to catch it every render and re-scale it?

    I have an application in which I need to create mx.states.State objects on the fly, as I'm reading external data in order to create the states. Each State only has a single child, so here's my code which I was using to accomplish this: var state:State = new State(); state.name = "a"; state.overrides = [new AddChild(parent, DisplayObject(view))]; this.states.push(state); However, when I actually change a state, I get a runtime error relating to the fact that you can't call addChild on a spark.components.Group component. Is there an equivalent AddElement action for adding elements to a Group during a state change?
