But in Ubuntu 11.10 when I try to access it using Firefox the website is opening. Google chrome though supporting /etc/hosts configuration. Google chrome is displaying : "It works! This is the default web page for this server. The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet."

  I'm still learning SQL and my brain is having a hard time with this one. Say I have 3 tables: teams players and teams_players as my link table All I want to do is run a query to get each team and the players on them. I tried this: SELECT * FROM teams INNER JOIN teams_players ON teams.id = teams_players.team_id INNER JOIN players ON teams_players.player_id = players.id But it returned a separate row for each player on each team. Is JOIN the right way to do it or should I be doing something else? ----------------------------------------- Edit Ok, so from what I'm hearing, this isn't necessarily a bad way to do it. I'll just have to group the data by team while I'm doing my loop. I have not yet tried the modified SQL statements provided, but I will today and get back to you. To answer the question about structure - I guess I wasn't thinking about the returned row structure which is part of what lead to my confusion. In this particular case, each team is limited to 4 players (or less) so I guess the structure that would be helpful to me is something like the following: teams.id, teams.name, players.id, players.name, players.id, players.name, players.id, players.name, players.id, players.name, 1 Team ABC 1 Jim 2 Bob 3 Ned 4 Roy 2 Team XYZ 2 Bob 3 Ned 5 Ralph 6 Tom

• jquery 1.4.1 breaks my slideshow

  After toying with the jquery slideshow extension, I created my own that better suited my purposes ( I didn't like that all the images needed to load at the beginning for instance). Now, upon upgrading to jQuery 1.4.2 (I know I'm late), the slideshow loads the first image fine ( from the line$('div#slideshow img#ssone').fadeIn(1500); towards the bottom), but doesn't do anything beyond that. Does anyone have any idea which jquery construct is killing my script? The live page is at lplonline.org which is using 1.3.2 for the time being. Thanks in advance. • Cross-Browser jQuery text-zoom implementation

  I've got some code to increase/decrease font size. This is giving me a headache because each browser seems to implement the $.css('font-size') differently (see jquery bug). The part that's really killing me, though, is that Firefox is scaling up okay, but when I use the scale down function below, it scales up. Webkit & IE are both working as expected. Any ideas on that? • Keep div:hover open when changing nested select box

  This is an IE-only problem. .toolTip becomes visible when it's parent element is :hovered over. Inside of .toolTip is a select box. When the user opens the select box to make a selection, the parent element is being "un-hovered", if you will. To put it another way, when I try to select something from the dropdown, the whole thing hides itself again. I'm sure it has something to do with the way IE interprets the stylesheet, but I don't know what or where.   Quick Background Since learning basic html 5 years ago, I've become completely obsessed with the technology, the logic, and the thrill of solving problems involved with building websites. I am still stuck at a thoroughly non-programming type job, but would really like to move into the field of web programming/design. I have no educational background in the field (was trained as a fine artist and tutor), but in the past few years have progressed fully self-taught (and self-motivated) from html to css to php, mysql, jquery, and am now building rich web applications. The Question How can I prove to a company that even though I have no education, I have a passion to learn whatever is thrown my way? ...That essentially I would come at every issue with not only knowledge, but with a passionate desire to solve it, whether that means tackling a new language or debugging code for hours at a time? p.s.   This is a wordpress installation, but I think the question is more of a general sql question. First off, my sql skills are not great (I don't even know if I'm following the correct format for illustrating the db). I've got two tables: wp_posts : ID (pk) | post_name | ... ---------------------------- 45 | "Hello" 91 | "Funny" 16 | "Wheat" wp_postmeta : post_id (fk) | meta_key | meta_value | ... ------------------------------------------------ 45 | "_edit_lock" | 5789789834 45 | "fizzbizz" | "foobar" 91 | "_something" | "teve" 16 | "_edit_lock" | 8798756 I would to select all rows in wp_posts where there is NO corresponding row in wp_postmeta where meta_key = "fizzbizz" I originally had this query, but someone pointed out that it would not retrive ID = '16' in the above case. • Facebook-ios-sdk with embedded UIWebView

  I'm working with the new facebook-ios-sdk and have successfully integrated the api into my native app. I am able to authenticate a user and properly setup permissions using a popup dialog with the ios-sdk classes. For a portion of my app I need to use the facebook connection within a UIWebView, using javascript and html to process data within the webview. Given that the user is already logged in and authenticated via the above routine, I would have assumed that the UIWebView would share those credentials, or that there would at least be some way to pass or assign the credentials to the webview. Unfortunately, I found this earlier post which seems to suggest that this scheme doesn't quite work (iOS - being logged-in in a webView after logging in with the SDK). Has anyone else encountered this and/or found a work around? This seems like it would be a fairly straightforward use case given that I'm not trying to launch mobile safari or something like that - it's all within the same native app. It just seems like there must be some sort of easy trick or setting that I'm missing. Maybe somehow setting cookies in the new UIWebView? or something like this?

• Should I embed the sRGB color profile in JPEG files?

  I have a large (growing) collection of scanned images. They are TIFF files, mostly 48 bit with the Adobe RGB color space. This color profile is integrated in the files. When such a file is opened in IrfanView (with plugins), it says (Image - Information) Adobe RGB 1998. "Normal images", like the JPG files from a digital camera, do not (necessarily) have a color profile integrated in the file. I understand that it's necessary to include the Adobe RGB profile in an image file which uses the Adobe RGB space, so the color values can be interpreted correctly. Here's a test image with a completely different color profile, programs that ignore the included profile (like MSIE8 or Gwenview) will render it as sRGB (?): I'm planning to convert my TIF files to JPG, so I'm wondering if there's anything wrong with using IrfanView that would save them as sRGB without embedding the sRGB profile. I've heard that images should always be saved with the color profile included. Since every image seems to be interpreted as sRGB by default (by software without color management), I don't understand why the sRGB profile should be included?

• ubuntu preseed installation keep missing mirror files

  Install ubuntu12.04.2 with preseed file, but there is one buggy problem about preseed mirror setting. The symptom here is installing process got stuck. So I track down the log file, and find out the real problem, the installation is looking for a file that's not there. This is just one of them, another pops up if I faked this file. This all happened during preseed, so I believe preseed has something to do with this. I google ubuntu preseed mirror and find this post saying: # If you select ftp, the mirror/country string does not need to be set. #d-i mirror/protocol string ftp d-i mirror/country string manual d-i mirror/http/hostname string archive.ubuntu.com d-i mirror/http/directory string /ubuntu d-i mirror/http/proxy string # Alternatively: by default, the installer uses CC.archive.ubuntu.com where # CC is the ISO-3166-2 code for the selected country. Here is my question: Does preseed fetches file/resource from internet, if I use local repo? Why it's looking for file that's not even there?
