  • Easy way to cast an object array into another type in C#

    - by Na7coldwater
    I want to be able to be able to quickly cast an array of objects to a different type, such as String, but the following code doesn't work: String[] a = new String[2]; a[0] = "Hello"; a[1] = "World"; ArrayList b = new ArrayList(a); String[] c = (String[]) b.ToArray(); And I don't want to have to do this: String[] a = new String[2]; a[0] = "Hello"; a[1] = "World"; ArrayList b = new ArrayList(a); Object[] temp = b.ToArray(); Object[] temp = b.ToArray(); String[] c = new String[temp.Length]; for(int i=0;i<temp.Length;i++) { c[i] = (String) temp[i]; } Is there an easy way to do this without using a temporary variable?

  • Reset array keys in multidimensional array

    - by nbaumann
    I've been looking around for a solution to this with no real success. I have a multidimensional array of parents and children with no limits on depth. This is generated from a database but the issue is that the item ID becomes the key using my way of arranging a flat array into a multidimensional array like so: Array( [28] => Array ( [id] => 28 [color] => #ff24e5 [name] => Personal [parent_id] => [children] => Array ( [23] => Array ( [id] => 23 [color] => #41c3a3 [name] => Shopping [parent_id] => 28 [children] => Array ( [22] => Array ( [id] => 22 [color] => #8be32b [name] => Deals [parent_id] => 23 [children] => Array ( ) ) ) ) [150] => Array ( [id] => 150 [color] => #e9a3f0 [name] => Orders [parent_id] => 28 [children] => Array ( ) ) ) ) ) What I would like, is a function that does the following: Array ( [0] => Array ( [id] => 28 [color] => #ff24e5 [name] => Personal [parent_id] => [children] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [id] => 23 [color] => #41c3a3 [name] => Shopping [parent_id] => 28 [children] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [id] => 22 [color] => #8be32b [name] => Deals [user_id] => 1 [selected] => 0 [parent_id] => 23 [children] => Array ( ) ) ) ) [1] => Array ( [id] => 150 [color] => #e9a3f0 [name] => Orders [parent_id] => 28 [children] => Array ( ) ) ) ) ) Essentially reassign keys starting from 0. I've tried numerous methods, but I'm assuming that I need to find a recursive solution and when I tried that, it destroyed my array. I was reading up on the array_walk_recursive() function, but I don't quite know what to do beyond that. Essentially, is there a way to reset numeric keys in a multidimensional array? Thanks for the help!

    I was trying to remove some items from an array , Array.prototype.remove = function(from, to) { var rest = this.slice((to || from) + 1 || this.length); this.length = from < 0 ? this.length + from : from; return this.push.apply(this, rest); }; var BOM = [0,1,0,1,0,1,1]; var bomlength = BOM.length; for(var i = 0; i < IDLEN ;++i) { if( BOM[i] == 1) { BOM.remove(i); //IDLEN--; } } RESULT IS BOM = [0,0,0,1]; expected result is BOM = [0,0,0]; its looks like i am doing something wrong , Please help me.   • Actionscript 3.0 Get all instances of a class?

    - by Windbrand
    I got a ton of movieclips in a class. Is there a more efficient way to apply a function to every instance in the class other than this? var textArray:Array = [ interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin1, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin2, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin3, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin4, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin5, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin6, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin7, //... ... ... interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin15 ]; for each (var interludeText:MovieClip in interludeBeginText) { interludeText.alpha = 0 //clear all text first } Also for some reason this doesn't work: interludes.interludeIntro.alpha = 0; It permanently turns that class invisible, even if I try to make specific instances visible later with: interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin1.alpha = 1; I have NO idea why the above doesn't work. I want to turn every single instance in the class interludeIntro invisible, but I want to turn specific instances visible later. (btw I have no idea how to insert code on this website, pressing "code" doesn't do anything, so pardon the bad formatting)

  • Php, in_array with no exactly match

    - by John Smith
    I want to do the following: $a = array(); $a[] = array(1,2); $a[] = array(2,5); $a[] = array(3,4); var_dump (in_array(array(2,5), $a)); this returns OK, as it expected, but if the source array is not fully matched: $a = array(); $a[] = array(1,2, 'f' => array()); $a[] = array(2,5, 'f' => array()); $a[] = array(3,4, 'f' => array()); var_dump (in_array(array(2,5), $a)); it returns false. Is there a way to do it with the built-in way, or I have to code it?

  • float** allocation limit + serialized struct problem. Need advice!

    - by jmgunn
    basically im getting an allocation limit error/warning when i create a float** array. the function i am calling to fill the float** retrieves data from a struct loaded from a file. The function works fine when i use one object but when i load 2 objects into memory i get the limit error. I am pretty sure this is to do with byte alignment or a similar thing because my struct is saved with a float** member which i am sure you are not susposed to do !?! Please confirm this! The next question i have now is how to save/serialize the float** member of this struct? I cant really afford to put an upper bound on the array ie "float [10000][3]" because i need/want to use this structure as a base for many other types of objects that may have well under the upper bound. Stroking my chin here! Any help/advice will recieve my highest gratitude. BTW these said struct objects will be used in a game/graphics package, the float** is a float[3] array for storing vertices in a model. Much thanks in advance

  • Variable Scoping in a method and its persistence in C++

    - by de costo
    Consider the following public method that adds an integer variable to a vector of ints(private member) in a class in C++. KoolMethod() { int x; x = 10; KoolList.Add(x); } Vector<int>KoolList; But is this a valid addition to a vector ??? Upon calling the method, it creates a local variable. The scope of this local variable ends the moment the execution control leaves the method. And since this local variable is allocated on a stack(on the method call), any member of KoolList points to an invalid memory location in deallocated stack which may or may not contain the expected value of x. Is this an accurate description of above mechanism ?? Is there a need for creating an int in heap storage using "new" operator everytime a value needs to be added to the vector like described below ????: KoolMethod() { int *x = new int(); *x = 10; KoolList.Add(x); } Vector<int*>KoolList;

  • php adding value to session

    - by antikbd
    I am trying to implement a 'shopping cart' where, if the 'Add to Cart' has been clicked, the respective item is either added to the cart or incremented by one if already present. However, the following code isn't working and giving me a "Cannot use a scalar value as an array" error. Any help would be highly appreciated. if (isset($_POST['fan']) && ($_POST['fan']=="Add to Cart")) { if (($_SESSION['cart']['fan']==0) || (!isset($_SESSION['cart']['fan']))) { $_SESSION['cart']['fan']=1; } else { $_SESSION['cart']['fan']++; } }

  • Strange code behaviour?

    - by goldenmean
    Hi, I have a C code in which i have a structure declaration which has an array of int[576] declared in it. For some reason, i had to remove this array from the structure, So i replaced this array with a pointer as int *ptr; declared some global array of same type, somewhere else in the code, and initialized this pointer by assigning the global array to this pointer. So i did not have to change the way i was accessing this array, from other parts of my code. But it works fine/gives desired output when i have the array declared in the structure, but it gives junk output when i declare it as a pointer in the structure and assign a global array to this pointer, as a part of the pointer initialization. All this code is being run on MS-VC 6.0/Windows setup/Intel-x86. I tried below things: 1)Suspected structure padding/alignment but could not get any leads? If at all structure alignment could be a culprit how can i proceed to narrow it down and confirm it? 2) I have made sure that in both cases the array is initialized to some default values, say 0 before its first use, and its not being used before initialization. 3)I tried using global array as well as malloc based memory for this newly declared array. Same result, junk output. Am i missing something? How can i zero down the problem. Any pointers would be helpful. Thanks, -AD.

  • Is new int[10]() valid c++?

    - by Naveen
    While trying to answer this question I found that the code int* p = new int[10](); compiles fine with VC9 compiler and initializes the integers to 0. So my questions are: First of all is this valid C++ or is it a microsoft extension? Is it guaranteed to initialize all the elements of the array? Also, is there any difference if I do new int; or new int();? Does the latter guarantee to initialize the variable?

  • how to filter text of the selected value in drop down

    - by Carlos
    I have a drop down menu. Has product types. Product types have associated value (from drop down) values correspond to machine groups. So each option should have three variables--Machine name, values, machine group. I can get the Machine name and I can get the machine value (and display them in a different field)...what I have not been able to figure out is how to change the value into the Machine group. jQuery('#MachineName').bind('change', function() { //get selected value from drop down; var selectedValue = jQuery("#MachineName").val(); //populate a text field with the selected drop down value jQuery("#MachineValue").val(selectedValue); What I would like to do is keep that MachineValue but then populate another text field with the sorted MachineGroup I have been trying to run it through something like switch(jQuery(this).val()){ case "236" : newVal = "8"; break; But I don't want to "change" the value I just want to do an "if then" type filter, so maybe something like: '236' => "8", '237' => "5", I just don't know how to properly say "assign the MachineGroup based on the MachineValue" (and then have it populate a different text field) In the end I would have three fields. The drop down, the MachineValue and the MachineGroup. Drop down and value are done, I just need to do Group. (And I can sort Group based on MachineName...just not sure which would be easier)

  • Comparing an array of users to an array of structs with user object as attribute, and returning matc

    - by keruilin
    I have an array of users who are friends. Let us call this array: friends I then have an array of structs. Each struct has a user object as an attribute (it also has a rank attribute). Here's what the struct class looks like, to add some context: class Leader < Struct.new(:rank, :user); end Let us call this array of structs: all_leaders_plus_rank I want to compare friends and all_leaders_plus_rank, and add the match from all_leaders_plus_rank to a new array of structs called friendly_leaders.

  • how to get the value of an php array in jQuery

    - by user1933824
    i have a PHP code that will obtain the total images of a certain website via CURL, and put it inside an PHP loop. $z=1; for ($i=0;$i<=sizeof($images_array);$i++) { ....<img src = "$images_array[$i]" id="$z"> .. $z++; } a user can then scan through the array with a prev/next button and the current image being shown will be displayed in my $('$current_image').val(1); $.post("curl_fetch.php?url="+ extracted_url, { }, function(response){ $('#loader').html($(response).fadeIn('slow')); $('#current_image').val(1); // insert loop value in .val() when i click a button, i want to get the value of the array, and not the loop value $(function() { $(document).on('click','.submit', function () { var img = $('#current_image').val(); //get the array value, not the loop value alert(img); });}); now, how do i properly get the array value in my $('#current_image').val(1); in Jquery.
