  When I run a local copy of Weblogic, I like to see the output in the console so that I can observe my app's logging messages.   Hello. Tune2fs allows to change inode size from default 128 bytes to almost anything (but it should be power of two). What can the the reasons of changing default inode size? Here http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-7433 is written, that this can be done to be able to store ACL attributes inside inodes. What else can be stored inside inode? May be some other attributes? Or anything else? Is there any reason to increase inode size on modern high-capacity drives (2TB and more)?

Actually, I would like to change my smtp.mail name and account that is shown as sending the emails in the header. I changed the "From" but it shows only in the "visible" part of the email and there are values that are different in the header. • How to change MySQL data directory?

  I want to place my databases in another directory, so I can store them in an ESB (elastic block storage, just a fancy name for a virtualized harddisk) together with my web-apps and other persistent data. I have tried to walk through a tutorial at http://crashmag.net/change-the-default-mysql-data-directory-with-selinux-enabled. Everything seems fine until I type this command: # semanage fcontext -a -t mysqld_db_t "/srv/mysql(/.*)?" Then the command fails and tells me that mysqld_db_t is an invalid SELinux context even if the default MySQL data directory is labelled with this context. I am running Fedora 15 on Virtualbox (behaves like an ordinary x86-compatible box) and Amazon EC2 (based on Xen) so the tutorial should be compatible. It is also worth to mention that turning off SELinux globally or just for the MySQL process is not an option, because such a solution will decrease the security of the system if a hacker gains access to the system via the MySQL server. I have never seen this problem before I changed to the Redhat/Fedora architecture, so it could be a distribution specific issue. Any help is highly appreciated

• Change from IDE to AHCI after installing Windows 8

  I had my drive controller configured for IDE when I installed Windows 7. This didn't change when I upgraded to Windows 8. I now need to enable AHCI, but doing so causes Windows to fail to start. It doesn't know how to automatically fix the problem. I was able to use Regedit from the recovery area, in order to try using this fix that worked for Vista. That key is missing in Windows 8, however. I read that the relevant key is now in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci. But my settings already match the changes they suggest making. How can I get Windows to boot after enabling AHCI in the BIOS?

• SQL SERVER – Changing Default Installation Path for SQL Server

  Earlier I wrote a blog post about SQL SERVER – Move Database Files MDF and LDF to Another Location and in the blog post we discussed how we can change the location of the MDF and LDF files after database is already created. I had mentioned that we will discuss how to change the default location of the database. This way we do not have to change the location of the database after it is created at different locations. The ideal scenario would be to specify this default location of the database files when SQL Server Installation was performed. If you have already installed SQL Server there is an easy way to solve this problem. This will not impact any database created before the change, it will only affect the default location of the database created after the change. To change the default location of the SQL Server Installation follow the steps mentioned below: Go to Right Click on Servers >> Click on Properties >> Go to the Database Settings screen You can change the default location of the database files. All the future database created after the setting is changed will go to this new location. You can also do the same with T-SQL and here is the T-SQL code to do the same. • Access to NTP via IP which doesn't change often

  I'm trying to sync the clock of our production server located in a data center with pool.ntp.org. For security reason, our servers has no internet access unless we requested to open specific ip/port explicitly. I worked out a list of IPs based on 0.asia.ntp.org 1.asia.ntp.org 2.asia.ntp.org 3.asia.ntp.org Not realizing ntp.org is using round robin DNS and the servers being voluntary, they changes from time to time. In fact the IP I've got from 3.asia.ntp.org last month is no longer working now. I'm wondering if there's a publicly known NTP server that doesn't change as often or if there's a way to go around this without having to request an update to the firewall on a monthly basis. I believe many admin is facing the same issue here.

  Using Windows 7 Pro here. I have my LAN network adapter with DNS server 8.8.8.8 (Google's DNS). I also have OpenVPN client to connect to my company's network. If I type "nslookup" while disconnected from the VPN, I get 8.8.8.8 (from my LAN network adapter). If I type "nslookup" while connected in the VPN, I get the DNS IP from my company's network. That makes me think that when connected to the VPN all DNS's resolution are routed first to my company's DNS. How can I change this order, and make the DNS resolution be routed to 8.8.8.8 first, when I'm connected to the VPN? Thank you

• Cancel table design change in SQL Server 2000

  In SQL Server Enterprise Manager and change one of the columns and save it, it will create a table with the new definition, and copy all the data to that new table, and then delete the old table when it's done. But if your table is large (let's say on the order of 100GB), it can take a long time to do this. Even worse, if you don't have sufficient disk space, it doesn't notice ahead of time, and it will spend a long time trying to copy the table, run out of space, and then decide to abort the process. We have other ways to copy the data in smaller chunks, but those require significantly more manual intervention, so it's usually easier to just let Enterprise Manager figure it out, as long as there's enough disk space. So for a long running "Design Table" save like this, is there any way to cancel once it's started? Or do you just have to wait for it to fail?

  Is there a way to change the desktop wallpaper in Windows 7 Starter Edition? I wanted to do that on my new netbook, just to find out that there is no "Customize" option in the control panel. Microsoft obviously wants to keep the netbook users rather rigidly from customizing their machines. It isn't even possible to edit the picture itself in the C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\ directory, due to lack of rights. From what I can tell only the user "Trusted Installer" would have enough rights to do so...   I really enjoy the look of UBUNTU. The only thing that I want to change is the default icon used for .html (.htm) files. I want to use the icon /usr/lib/firefox/browser/icons/mozicon128.png instead. I do not want to change any other visual element. Is there a practical way to accomplish this small change? edit: @Mitch, I've used assogiate in the past and although I was able to change the icon used for .mht files, I could not get it to change the .htm icon. @Anwar Shah, thanks for the information. I wish that it would work for me. Running 13.10 x86, after I do the copy of the icons, in the folders are a bunch of links to .svg files not actual graphics files. It does not appear that the second copy actually does anything on my system.

  I have a data that lists the value of a contract per contract number. So I've created a pivot table that counts the number of contracts valued at 0 - 10, 11 - 20, etc. I want to be able to format the group, e.g. $0 - $10, $11 - $20 I've tried formatting the underlying data as currency and formatting the column in the pivot table, but it still shows as 0 - 10, 11 - 20 Also I have a column in the pivot table that says Total which is the Count of the number of contracts in that range, i.e. Value Total 0 - 10 1 11 - 20 1 Its an autogenerated column heading that Excel put in. How do I change this to say Number of contracts. I want it changed because when I chart the pivot table, the series is called called Total :(

  Hi, Let's say I have a chat window open in a web browser, and I'm waiting for a message from my partner, trying to do something else in the meantime. The chat window (not an installed program) will not alert me of an incoming message, nor will the task bar flash or anything. Is there any utility that can help me? In search of a solution, I came across AutoHotKey. There is a script called livewindows.ahk, which will show a piece of the window anywhere on the screen, but it won't alert me on a change. I'm not skilled enough to know how to store and compare e.g. every second's content of some window area. Maybe someone has invented this wheel? Thanks in advance for any hint or advice. Leonardo

• esxi change MKS port

  I need to connect to my home esxi box over the web however I cannot use the default port 902 for the console viewer due to firewall restrictions. Is there a way to change this port somewhere even if i can just do some nat and redirect any other port to that port? I've had a look around and when I try to connect to the esxi server in vSphere client I cant find anywhere I can specify the port. I know this is not the recommended way to do this but its a testing server and security is not an absolute must on this box. I also cannot setup a vpn to this box.

• 'Unsaved Theme' is not appearing when I make a change to a theme in Windows 7

  According to personal experience and Microsoft documentation, when an aspect of a theme (wallpaper, border colour, etc) is changed in the 'Personalization' screen of Windows 7, a theme called Unsaved Theme is supposed to be created/exist under the 'My Themes' heading. However, my 'My Themes' section is always empty, and if I change the background by clicking on the Background link at the bottom of the Personalization page, the background changes, but it still shows 'Harmony' as the selected background, and no 'Unsaved Theme' is created. I have no idea how long this has been happening, but I would like to create some themes, but it never acknowledges my changes as it is supposed to.

• Concatenate cells that change daily automatically?

  I use concatenate to pull data together from different cells in my spreadsheet. Since my data changes daily, I want the formula to also change daily without having to manually input the new cell in the concatenate formula. I am looking for a way to do this but not sure how. Can anyone out there help me out please!? I appreciate the assistance in advance! Maybe this will help to explain what I need. I have a row of data from D4:AH4 that I insert daily based on the new day. When I use the concatenate and us the following formula: =CONCATENATE(TEXT('Raw Data'!B4,"m/d")," ",TEXT('Raw Data'!C4,"")," ", TEXT('Raw Data'!E4,"0.0%"))... E4 being the cell that changes daily where next day would be F4, G4, etc... All other parts of the formula will stay the same. I hope this helps! Thanks! :)

  I received a PowerPoint presentation with dozens of slides, each of them with a number of text boxes. Although the presentation is written in English, the language for spell checking is set to Canadian French. I’m trying to change the language to English, but even if I select all the slides and select a new element on the Language dialog box, the language of the text boxes remain the same. So I have to go slide by slide selecting the text boxes and then changing the language individually. Is there a better way to do this? The version of PowerPoint I have installed is 2002 SP3.

• Change popup format for Kopete in Gnome (Ubuntu 10.04)

  After trialling Empathy which was included with Gnome/Ubuntu 10.04 I decided to go back to Kopete since I was losing chat messages. However, for some reason, Kopete is now displaying all popups in a big, ugly window with four options (ok, cancel, view, ignore, or something like that) that actually all seem to do nothing. I tried looking for options in Kopete to change the popup style to the nicer Gnome style one which goes up in the top-right of my desktop, but it doesn't seem to be possible with this release. So I had to resort to removing all popup messages from Kopete to prevent my screen being taking over by a popup requiring action for every incoming chat message. Unfortunately, this now means that I do not get any notifications when people message me - and so I can go a couple of hours without realising that they did. Anyone know how to get the nice, unobtrusive popups working in this version?

Now we have grown and need to use something a bit more professional like [email protected] how can this change be implemented with minimal disruption? We currently only use smarteremail. Could recieving ONLY with the old and replying with the new be a solution..till we wean our recipients off the old email address? Any suggestions are welcome. • Change Linux Console's Default Monitor

  Is there any way to specify which monitor the console is displayed on in Linux? Details: I have a 3 monitor setup with 2 video cards. When I boot the computer, the BIOS displays on the PCI graphics card (which has a small monitor). When starting Linux, the console is displayed on the same monitor. Is there a way to have the console output on a different monitor? I'm using the vesafb framebuffer. I don't see a way in my BIOS to change the default video card.
