    hello , I'm a little bit confused about it . it seems that it is integrated with Google web kit tools to build Google web apps . but can i use to build a Gui for standard java app , (like netbeans) ?? i know it sounds silly but i spend a lot of time to know if is it possible or not but i couldn't know. notice that i am a mac user , ( WindowBuilder on mac seems not fully supported ) . thanks in advance .

    I had been using Netbeans all the while to develop Swing application. So far, I am a Happy Netbeans User Currently, I had a project (GWT, J2EE and Swing), which I need to use Eclipse (Please do not ask Why) Here is the step I had been taken. Download Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers (190 MB) from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ I thought this should be the correct choice, as I see most features are found in that edition http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/compare-packages After struggling a while to get use to the user interface of Eclipse, I still cannot find a Visual GUI Editor! After doing some Googling, I realize I need to install something called Plugins However, tones of plugins which had similar features has confused me, as I found http://www.cloudgarden.com/jigloo/index.html http://www.eclipse.org/vep/WebContent/main.php http://code.google.com/p/visualswing4eclipse/ This makes me even more confuse? Which plugin I should use to develop a Swing based application? Most of them seems not up-to-dated. Or, is there any complete bundle I can download, where 1 click, will install all the necessary Swing development tools for me?   • Which VCS is more applicable for our workflow?

    Currently we have code stored on a shared network drive and do not use any kind of VCS. The code stored on our shared network drive is always being backed up. We would like to keep things as close to they are now as possible, while using some kind of VCS software. I am envisioning a centralized workflow with each developer having a local copy of the code on his/her machine. We don't do any branching or working offline. Typically when we spin off a new version we would just copy the current working directory to a new directory. I believe we would continue doing this and just create a repository for the new version. I would rather not get into an argument over which VCS is better, just hoping to get some opinions for which is best suited and most applicable for what we are trying to do.

  • running adb via wifi on ubuntu 13.04

    First, im new on linux so please bear with me. I have a rooted android phone and i was able to run the adb via wifi network on windows, where i just need to go to the adb's directory and type adb connect. However, i can't just do that in my ubuntu. Everytime i enter adb connect, the terminal always said that i dont have the adb and i must install it. When i check the ADT Bundle (I downloaded the bundled one from here), i can see the adb is there inside the platform-tools folder. I already tried to change the directory to the platform-tools and run the adb connect from there, but its still not working. Do i need to install the adb again via terminal? Or did i miss something? You may be wondering why dont i just download the adb (again) via terminal and do trial and error? The answer is because i dont have a good internet connection, so i want to avoid unnecessary downloads. Thanks for your time :D

    I am interested in installing Rational Developer for Power 8.0.3 (RDPi) on Ubuntu 12.04. I would like to know if other Ubuntu users have run into issues? Is it recommended or should I just stick to using RDPi in Windows 7 in VirtualBox? I have done some research, but could not divine a solution. From IBM's Developerworks website: Ubuntu clients are obviously missing from the list. While not officially supported, we have had some success in running ... on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and later.   • How can I avoid the engineering mistakes of PDT?

    As a developer with enough experience to evaluate a tool, I may say that PDT is very huge in size and slow in performance for a PHP IDE. It gets bigger by release and exponentially slower by the size of the projects. Add some extra syntax coloring rules and it literally crawls, code completion works randomly and building workspace takes like forever. Java black magic (-Xmx etc) eases the pain a little but that's it. So my questions are: Why is PDT like this? What design or engineering factors led to its poor performance? How can I avoid making these same mistakes in my own products?

  • Eclipse keyboard shortcuts: "alt+shift+" vs. "shift+" vs. "ctrl+alt+" etc. -- Is there an underlying

    There are a zillion questions on SO about keyboard shortcuts in Eclipse, but there's I've always wondered if there is an underlying logic to the decisions of which shortcuts would be ctrl+alt+[some letter], and which would be just ctrl+[some letter] etc. Obviously there is a need to use a variety of combinations because there are only so many keys on the keyboard, but why, for example, is "add import" ctrl+shift+m, while "extract method" is alt+shift+m, instead of the other way around? I think if there is some underlying logic to these decisions, it will make it easier to remember more shortcuts without having to scan through the huge right-click menus to find them, and I won't accidentally use the wrong one as often.
