  • Ubuntu 11.10 doesn't detect external usb hard drive

    I have been batting with this issue for a bit and cannot find the answer to it. Underneeth the device it does show two general usb3.0 CRW that are sdd and sde.   • MySQL keeps adding additional user without rights from specific IP

    I'm running MySQL Server 5.5.29 on Ubuntu Server 13.04 I have a created a user with a wildcard host access % and given him various privileges. However, whenever this user connects from 194.182.245.61, a new user account is created for that specific IP address with no rights and he is unable to exercise his privileges. When he connects from other internet connections, such as his home IP, it works just as it should. Why does this happen and how can I stop it from happening?

  • Download images and other documents from external websites

    We're running a website which enables users to download documents about our company, such as: -wallpapers with the company logo. -company logos in various flavours. -media kits in pdf format. Since these files are quite big in size (some reach 1MB), we no longer want them to be downloaded from our website directly as it's consuming our bandwidth. Accordingly we've been looking into document sharing services. For instance we found Scribd which could allow us to share pdf files, but not our wallpapers and logos which are in png format. Is there a free service we can use for our users to reliably download any type of files we want to host? (ideally on a service which allows users to easily browse through our files).

  • Why my Buffalo router keeps on sending rdp, netbios, ftp, http requests?

    I have the following network setup: Buffalo Router (192.168.100.1) < Watchguard XTM21 (192.168.100.13) < PC For some reason I keep on seeing the following repeating on my XTM21's Traffic Monitor. While I have enabled Port Forwarding, none of the ports reported below were enabled.     We have a server that has an open remote desktop port to the internet (no VPN.) Several people are allowed to log on to the machine remotely. The server runs Windows 7 (desktop OS.) I can find logon times using Event Viewer, but it does not show the IP address of the remote machine. At any rate, manually browsing Event Viewer for all login events would be time consuming, to say the least.) Is a way to find out which IP addresses are using Remote Dekstop ?

  • apache mix name and ip based virtual hosts and ssl

    Hi Everyone I'm trying to configure apache 2.2 so that I can use two IPs. One for name based virtual hosts which should all use the same ssl-key and the other one for just one ip based host which should be using an other ssl-key. But it seems that when ever I get either the ip based or name based host to work the other one breaks. Can someone tell me how to do this on a debian system or at least point me in the right direction? Thanks

    I was always thought to use internal domain name (company.local or company.corp) for Active Directory instead of (company.com or company.pl). Recently we were thinking that by using external domain name we can get some advantages for stuff like certificates for Exchange, Sharepoint and alike where internal and external name would be exactly the same making it unnecessary to buy special certificates. Every seems working well, but when using the external access (ie via https), some links are not working because they use the internal name (http://mysite) instead of the FQDN via https (https://mysite.mydomain.fr*) Any hint or suggestion are welcome. *yes, i'm french. =) EDIT : examples of links that are not working : - when clicking on a folder in a library - when clicking on "My links" then "My sharepoint sites" and then clicking on one of the links displayed

  • Unity displays a black screen when connecting an external monitor

    I upgraded my ubuntu from 10.10 to 11.04 and since that day I have been facing issues with Dual Monitor in Ubuntu. When I connect my second monitor during boot time, everything works fine. But when I use my laptop and try to connect a monitor when I am running Ubuntu, I face a weird black screen issue. To see what I mean, following is a screenshot of the same. Here are the problems that happen Desktop background goes away As you can see on the left hand side of the desktop, the right and top portions are black The usual buttons - power button, mail, volumne etc., on the top panel do not work as expected Plus it suddenly crashses at times. And a lot of n other issues associated with this. Is there any patch/release that has happened for these bugs or should I report it anywhere? Help needed.

  • Cisco 877 as PPPoA/PPPoE bridge (no routing) - how to make it listen to IP for management?

    I have a Cisco 877 configured to bridge ADSL with PPPoA to PPPoE on Vlan1. This works fine, but in this mode the only way I can configure the Cisco is via the serial console. I'd like to have the Cisco also listen on an IP address so I can telnet/ssh into it. I think the right way to go about this would be via bridge irb, but I'm not sure exactly how (or if that's even the right direction). IOS is 12.4T and my current config (cut down to essentials) is: no ip routing no ip cef ! ! interface ATM0 no ip address no ip route-cache no atm ilmi-keepalive pvc 0/38 encapsulation aal5snap ! dsl operating-mode auto bridge-group 1 ! ! interface Vlan1 no ip address no ip route-cache bridge-group 1 Just setting an IP address on Vlan1 didn't have the desired effect, but surely this must be possible somehow (the Draytek Vigor 120 even does it by default).

    Hi I like using streamripper to rip music from the web. I have a favorite radio station that doesn't have the metadata for the songs, so I have to screen scrape it from its website manually. I created this neat python script in the format that the docs suggest, and linked the address in the GUI for streamriper. But it still doesn't work, any one know how to make it work..? I know it used to work.     I would like to map ip address to specific localhost interfaces (e.g. 23.45.66.77 = 127.0.3.3). For named hosts I can use the hosts file. Naturally this doesn't work for IP address. This has to work in windows, the only option I've found so far is implementing a TAP/TUN driver like openvpn does. Are there any other options?

  • Unable To Get Sound Working to External Speaker on HP TouchSmart 320 on 11.04 or 11.10

    This is an HP TouchSmart 320, model number 320-1200m. I'm using Ubuntu 11.04. I have installed Windows, and with Windows 7 installed, all audio hardware works properly, so this isn't a hardware fault. I've looked at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HdaIntelSoundHowto and have been unable to find my card in http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt . I have tried adding almost every conceivable model in the line "options snd-hda-intel model=MODEL" line I added to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. Update 2011-11-09 2:31 PM PST: I've gone to Control Center - Sound Preferences to attempt settings that make sound work. The "Hardware" tab shows one device: "Internal Audio 1 Output / 1 Input Analog Stereo Duplex." There are two output profiles listed in the selection box at the bottom of the tag: Analog Stereo Duplex and Analog Stereo Output. Neither cause sound to emit from the speakers. I've also run alsamixer on the command-line and ensured that everything is set to maximum and nothing is muted. Update 2011-11-09 5:15 PM PST: I've replicated the exact same symptoms in 11.10.   • Tracking URL Goals to an external site from a landing page

    I have a landing page promoting an iOS app. The page is at vitogo.com. I've set up a goal for When a user clicks on the link to go to iTunes to download the app. I set up a URL destination goal in the property for the site, and can see the goal set up in the reports section. The problem is it isn't tracking any clicks. I've had the goal set up for a while now, and it hasn't tracked anything. Thanks for the help!
