    It doesn't matter whether you just use it for fun or run your multi-million euro business with it. Also, if you install it on your work PC at some large company, this is still personal use. However, if you are an administrator and want to deploy it to the 500 desktops in your company, this would no longer qualify as personal use. (http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Licensing_FAQ) Does that mean it is totally OK to use Virtualbox at my company on a small number of computers?

  • Complete Adblock in Google Chrome

    I use a MAC and I want to completely block ads on my Google Chrome browse. What I mean by completely is that I don't want the ads to be just hidden. I understand that Google Chrome adblock addons currently hide ads, but can't prevent them from downloading. Is there a work around to this problem? Also, I use Firefox as my primary browser and I am on a proxy server on a Local network.

  • Virtual Microphone and skype

    I need to have at least one microphone on Windows to make Skype calls, but i have a VPS with Windows 2003 server with no audio device. I googled a lot and finally i found something called "Virtual Audio Cable", a tool to install virtual audio drivers ( http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html ). I tried many times but i couldn't get this driver work, so i'm asking if someone know a similar solution, i mean a virtual microphone or a way to make skype working without any microphone.   • Ubuntu, delete all files that start with '._'

    I want to delete all files that start with ._, when I run this command: me@me:/var/www/my/project$ sudo rm -Rvi ._* rm: cannot remove `._*': No such file or directory I'm pretty sure the . is causing problems, making it think I mean the current directory, what's the correct syntax to achieve this? I know these files originated from my Mac, I need a way of nuking them :-) Many thanks Ben

    I blocked a page in robots.txt under User-agent: *, and tried to do a manual removal of that URL from Google's cache in the webmasters tools. Google said it wasn't being blocked in my robots.txt, so I then blocked it specifically under User-agent: GoogleBot and tried removing it again and this time it worked. Does that mean Google doesn't respect User-agent: * or what?

    when a server has more than 8 cores per CPU (total 16 logical procs) and ESX standard license is applied, what does it mean for VM performance? Since each VM on host is allowed only 4 vCPUs max VMWare ESX/ESXi limits the no of vCPUs per guest VM depending on the license: standard Lic = 4 vCPU Advanced Lic = 4 since i dont know exact number is there need to upgrade to Advanced version for any perf benefits if none of VMs have workloads that need more than 4 vCPUs?

  • Do proxies really provide anonymity?

    Do web proxies really provide anonymity? I mean, without someone asking for logs in a web proxy server for who/when connected, is it impossible to know who was behind that IP address? I'm asking this because I heard somewhere that some technologies (like "flash") bypass personal IP information for requests or something like that. (I'm a noob in server configuration and concepts like DNS and proxies. Thanks!)

  • Exchange 2003 calendar's "far" future is blank when scheduling

    If a user tries to schedule a meeting in the "far" future, where ""far" future" seems to mean "seven or more weeks into the future", no existing meetings show up, and resources (at least) frequently (if not always) show up with the white-with-black-hatching "No Information" indicator in the meeting creation window, but shows up fine if you look at the actual calendar from the main Outlook window. Is this expected behavior? If so, is there any way to extend how far out Exchange/Outlook will look?

    We've been having some trouble lately with our site timing out during times of high traffic. We're working on a number of things to resolve it. During this process I came across our server diagnostics page on Rackspace, and it has the following line: The host server's load is: 0.08 0.08 0.03 1/204 2437 I couldn't find an explanation on their site or Google. Can anyone explain what these numbers mean? For I am a lowly programmer. Much appreciated, -Ben

If so and based on my reading and understanding, does this mean that it enters the documented run level and then launch sysinit process or vice versa?     We cannot modify the default USERID/PASSW0RD on an IMM because when we try it modify the USERID's password with a logged in USERID user (that has the "max" rights) we get this message after clicking on "SAVE" (save the new password..)     My application usually crashes and prints stack to log if received segfault signal. But in some environment the 'dmesg' shows segfault messages related to my application, but application uptime is much older. Can segfault be suppressed and application doesn't receive signal? Or what errors from dmesg can mean ?

    Hi, as titles says, how is sector id on HDD,CD-ROM and so distinguishable from data? I mean, when I want lets say sector #52, first, head goes to track where this sector should be, than it must wait some time to spin the desired sector above the reading head. But it must somehow recognize that its sector number, and not only data that say 52. So, how is this done? Thanks.
