    Now that ICann is allowing non-latin-character domain names, should I be concerned about e-mail validation? Currently, my sites are using php functions to ensure some alpha-numeric character set in each segment of an email address. Will these other character sets, such as Cyrillic, Arabic, and Chinese, pass validation? Are there recommended php functions to utilize for this?

  • C++ non-member functions for nested template classes

    I have been writing several class templates that contain nested iterator classes, for which an equality comparison is required. As I believe is fairly typical, the comparison is performed with a non-member (and non-friend) operator== function. In doing so, my compiler (I'm using Mingw32 GCC 4.4 with flags -O3 -g -Wall) fails to find the function and I have run out of possible reasons. In the rather large block of code below there are three classes: a Base class, a Composed class that holds a Base object, and a Nested class identical to the Composed class except that it is nested within an Outer class. Non-member operator== functions are supplied for each. These classes are in templated and untemplated forms (in their own respective namespaces), with the latter equivalent to the former specialised for unsigned integers. In main, two identical objects for each class are compared. For the untemplated case there is no problem, but for the templated case the compiler fails to find operator==.     I am modifying the source code here: http://thinkandroid.wordpress.com/2009/12/30/getting-response-body-of-httpresponse/ I get this error: non-static method getContentCharSet(org.apache.http.HttpEntity) cannot be referenced from a static context String charset = getContentCharSet(entity); This error is line 13 on the second box. Any ideas? I have been really struggling with this code :-(

  • ASP.NET 2.0 and 4.0 seem to treat the root url differently in Forms Authentication

    If have the following web.config: <configuration> <system.web> <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms name="MembershipCookie" loginUrl="Login.aspx" protection="All" timeout="525600" slidingExpiration="true" enableCrossAppRedirects="true" path="/" /> </authentication> <authorization> <deny users="?" /> </authorization> </system.web> <location path="Default.aspx"> <system.web> <authorization> <allow users="*"/> </authorization> </system.web> </location> </configuration> The application is an ASP.NET 2.0 application running on Windows 2008R2/IIS7.5. If the site's application pool is configured to run ASP.NET 2.0 and I browse to http://example.com then Default.aspx is rendered as you'd expect from the rules above. However if the application pool is set to run ASP.NET 4.0 I am redirected to the login page. If I explicitly specify http://example.com/default.aspx then all is good and default.aspx renders. I've tried rewriting / -> /default.aspx (using IIS UrlRewriter 2.0) but the result is still the same, I get kicked to the login page. I've also tried this with an ASP.NET 4.0 application with the same result (which is where the problem initially arose). The reason I tried this with a 2.0 application was to see if there was a change in behaviour, and it seems that / is handled differently in 4.0.   • User upload file above web root with php

    I have a website where local bands can have a profile page, I'm implementing an upload system so that they can add songs to their profile. I want to make sure that clever visitors to my website cannot download their songs. I was thinking about uploading them to above the folder for my domain so that they cannot be accessed directly. Is this a good idea and/or possible? If not, what do you suggest I do to try and avoid users downloading songs. I'm already using a flash player to try and prevent downloads.

  • How can a hacker put a file on my server root (apache, php, 1and1)

    Hi there, I have a site hosted on 1and1 and a couple of weeks ago I noticed a hacker had put a .php file on the server that when viewed in a browser exposed my DB schema, DB connection strings, FTP account (for file uploads using a form), etc, etc. Naturally I panicked and I wiped the server and reuploaded my files. Fortunatley I encrypt passwords using MD5 and I don't store things like credit card details, etc, etc. Now I checked my files and with all user input I use a clean function (htmlentities, sql_real_escape_string, etc, etc) that strips the input of any XSS or SQL injection. I have also made sure that the session key gets re-engineered when a user status changes (like they log into their account) to prevent session hijacking, my folder permissions are set to 755 and file permission are 644. Has anyone got any idea how this could have happened? Or if I'm missing something

  • Only root object on request is deserialized when using Message.GetBody<>

    I am attempting to create a wcf service that accepts any input (Action="*") and then deserialize the message after determining its type. For the purposes of testing deserialization I am currently hard-coding the type for the test service. I get no errors from the deserialization process, but only the outer object is populated after deserialization occurs. All inner fields are null. I can process the same request against the original wcf service successfully. I am deserializing this way, where knownTypes is a type list of expected types: DataContractSerializer ser = new DataContractSerializer(new createEligibilityRuleSet ().GetType(), knownTypes); createEligibilityRuleSet newReq = buf.CreateMessage().GetBody<createEligibilityRuleSet>(ser); Here is the class and sub-classes of the request object. These classes are generated by svcutil using a top down approach from an existing wsdl. I have tried replacing the XmlTypeAttributes with DataContracts and the XmlElements with DataMembers with no difference. It is the instance of CreateEligibilityRuleSetSvcRequest on the createEligibilityRuleSet object that is null.   • Do non-clustered indexes slow down inserts?

    I'm working in Sql Server 2005. I have an event log table that tracks user actions, and I want to make sure that inserts into the table are as fast as possible. Currently the table doesn't have any indexes. Does adding a single non-clustered index slow down inserts at all? Or is it only clustered indexes that slow down inserts? Or should I just add a clustered index and not worry about it?

    I am writing a client - server system in which I used NON-BLOCKING sockets. My problem is to detect error { while performing send() or write() } that may occur while data transfer. Example lets say, while the data is being transferred the peer crashes.
