• How to return the handle of a window when we click on it, without any DLL injection?

  Hello! For one of my projects, I need to create a function that will return a handle to a window when the user click on it (any window displayed on screen, and anywhere inside that window). I know it is possible to use a global hook, but I think there must be a more simple way of doing that, without using any DLL injection. In fact, I could intercept the left mouse click or intercept when a window is activated. Can I use one of those 2 solutions without any DLL injection?

• How do I do a where clause in sql and return a count back?

  Hi I am using mssql and I want to make a query that returns a count back with a where clause. Like say I have a product Table ProductId ProductName Active So how would I make it I have like Select Count(*) From Product now I don't know how to filter it so it only could if Active = true; So if there are 3 active products then it would return a count of 3 even if there is a hundred rows in the db and the other 97 are only not active. so the where clause would be probably like where active = true I am not sure how to put them together though.

• Ant task does not return properly if slept longer than 9 seconds executing from jruby.

  So here is a strange error/bug/idk ... I'm running jruby 1.4 with ant 1.8 ... from within jruby I execute an ant task with system(command_to_execute_ant_script) and everything works as expected ... however if the ant should sleep for longer than 9 seconds the script does not return EVER from within jruby. If the script sleeps for exactly 9 seconds or less the script returns properly. I've tried using jruby.1.5.0.rc1 as well as older versions of ant and still the same problem ... Any ideas?

• mocking command object in grails controller results in hasErrors() return false no matter what! Plea

  I have a controller that uses a command object in a controller action. When mocking this command object in a grails' controller unit test, the hasErrors() method always returns false, even when I am purposefully violating its constraints. def save = { RegistrationForm form -> if(form.hasErrors()) { // code block never gets executed } else { // code block always gets executed } } In the test itself, I do this: mockCommandObject(RegistrationForm) def form = new RegistrationForm(emailAddress: "ken.bad@gmail", password: "secret", confirmPassword: "wrong") controller.save(form) I am purposefully giving it a bad email address, and I am making sure the password and the confirmPassword properties are different. In this case, hasErrors() should return true... but it doesn't.   I have a legacy application that looks for files in a directory. It does not handle missing files very well. What I want to do is "capture" the file not found errors, and send another file back to the calling app instead. Similar to how you could handle a 404 error on a webserver and return something based on what the requested URL was, except on the local file system. Is this possible? And more preferably, is it possible in .Net?

  I have entities similar to: ProductLine: id, name ProductLineContents: content_id, product_line_id Content: id, text, updated_time What I'd like to do is: for each product line, get the latest content (so if theres two content entries associated to one product line, the latest updated_time is rturned, and if one content item is associated to two product lines, it is returned twice). Something similar to: select content.* from productline inner join productlinecontents inner join content; However I can't seem to figure out how to have Hibernate Criteria return a different entity than the original one it was created with. So if I wanted to start the criteria at the product line with createCriteria(ProductLine.class) along with the proper joins, then it only returns ProductLine objects, but I need Content objects. What's the best way to accomplish this? The actual data model is much more complex and can't be modified

  What's the best way to return a random line in a text file using C? It has to use the standard I/O library (<stdio.h>) because it's for Nintendo DS homebrew. Clarifications: Using a header in the file to store the number of lines won't work for what I want to do. I want it to be as random as possible (the best being if each line has an equal probability of being chosen as every other line.) The file will never change while the program is being run. (It's the DS, so no multi-tasking.)

  I always wondered why jQuery returns true if I'm trying to find elements by id selector that doesnt exist in the DOM structure. Like this: <div id="one">one</div> <script> console.log( !!$('#one') ) // prints true console.log( !!$('#two') ) // is also true! (empty jQuery object) console.log( !!document.getElementById('two') ) // prints false </script> I know I can use !!$('#two').length since length === 0 if the object is empty, but it seems logical to me that a selector would return the element if found, otherwise null (like the native document.getElementById does). F.ex, this logic can't be done in jQuery: var div = $('#two') || $('<div id="two"></div>'); Wouldnt it be more logical if the ID selector returned null if not found? anyone?

  Hello, I'm currently working with web services that return objects such as a list of files e.g. File array. I wanted to know whether its best practice to bind this type of object directly to my front end code for example a repeater/listview or whether to first parse it into my own list of "file class" e.g. customFiles[] If the web service changes then it will break my front end code, however if I create my own CustomFile class, then i would only need to change my code in one place to fix the issue, but it just seems like a lot of extra work to create the same classes from a web service, i wanted to know what is the best practice for this type of work. thanks Raj.

  In python, you can concatenate boolean values, and it would return an integer. Example: >>> True True >>> True + True 2 >>> True + False 1 >>> True + True + True 3 >>> True + True + False 2 >>> False + False 0 Why? Why does this make sense? I understand that True is often represented as 1, whereas False is represented as 0, but that still does not explain how adding two values together of the same type returns a completely different type.

  In vb.net there is a weird approach that you can use the function name as the result variable.. example: Function Foo(ByVal bar As Integer) As List(Of Integer) Foo = New List(Of Integer) Foo.Add(bar + 1) End Function As far as i know, in C# you have to: List<int> foo(int bar) { var result = new List<int>(); result.Add(bar + 1); return result; } I'm not sure if it's by design or i just don't know the right way to do this..   Hello, my Question is as follows: What does GEvent.addListener(map, "click" function(){...}) return into the callback function? I don't find any information in the GMaps reference at all, can you show me some? The only thing I found out was that there are two parameters, "overlay" and "latLng" that are passed. The name of these parameters should not be of interest right? I could also name them "foo" and "bar" as far as I know. But the parameter "overlay" seems to be empty anyway? Also I have problems passing these two parameters directly into a callback function I created myself which looks like that... GEvent.addListener(gmap, "click", generateMarker(overlay, latLng)); ... instead of writing the following, which actually works fine.   I found this question which is a great starting point towards creating embedded widgets that enable showing dynamic content on remote sites (i.e. a different domain). One problem I'm having is with the following code: public ActionResult SomeAction() { return new JsonpResult { Data = new { Widget = "some partial html for the widget" } }; } It says Widget = "some partial html for the widget" but this doesn't really mean anything to me. I assume that Widget would contain the HTML representing what the user wants to see on the screen, but How do I get the contents of my Partial View into Widget?   I'm using an application that requires me to provide a regex for various files. It uses the matches from the regex to uniquely identify each file and then use a data store to retrieve metadata about these files. there is however a problem with the application, so it assumes that the data which is used to identify each file is only numeric data. Hence, it stores the results of matches in integers. I control the data store but not the names of the files. Since the application has a bug in it, I was hoping that I could use an encoding scheme to convert the non-numeric data to an integer. But for that I'd require the regex to return something that's not part of the original string as a match. Is this possible?

  I have an inheritance structure of objects with begin() and end() as pure virtual member functions in the base class. From this objects I'm planning to build a composite structure. This inner objects have std::vector member the begin() and end() get their data from. But in a leaf class there is no vector. Now I try to find a return value for begin() and end() in the leaf classes. What would be a good way to do that? The easiest way would be to have a vector member in the leaf classes with no elements in it to fuel begin() and end(), but this just doesn't feel right.

  I have an array of objects (say, a deck of cards): var deck = []; deck.push(new Card(suit, rank)); The following seems to work: var card = deck.pop(); var card = deck.shift(); (pulling from the "top" or "bottom" of the deck respectively) But if I want a card from the middle (say, if this was a hand of cards) var card = deck.splice(2,1); The object doesn't seem to get properly assigned to the variable (everything is undefined). Everything I look up says that splice should return the object that I'm removing - what am I missing?
