• How do I handle TODO comments in VisualStudio 2010?

  I'd like Visual Studio to list all lines having "TODO: " in their beginning (usually after a comment sign which may vary depending on the file type) that can be found in any textual file in solution (may it be C#, VB, F#, T-SQL, ASPX, XAML or just TXT) in a special panel showing what's written in the line right to "TODO: ", project name (I use to contain many projects in one solution), file name, line number, code block name (like class and method) if possible. Do you know of such an extension or maybe VisualStudio has this feature built-in somewhere? For example NetBeans has a sort of out-of-the-box.

• How can I update the version of an APK which I did not create myself

  I am new to Android development. I am using a x-platform development tool which builds and signs the APK for me. This tool has a bug and it does not generate APK's with the version number I specify, all APK's generated are version 1.0. I would like to unpack the APK, edit the version number, and then resign and repackage it. It was signed using my keystore originally, so I have the keys needed to sign it again. How can this be done?

• How can I avoid Windows 8.1 resetting my font size?

  I am using Windows 8.1 on my laptop, which has a 15.6" screen with resolution 1366x768. I measured the screen with a ruler and calculated its DPI, which is 101. Therefore, I have set the scaling to 105%. However, when I change to an external monitor, which is a huge one with resolution 1920x1080 and DPI 93, I need to change the scaling to 97% but when I change the DPI back and forth, my font sizes have get resetted. I prefer using font sizes 14 on my title bars, message boxes and icons and font sizes 13 on my palette titles, menus and tooltips. However, as my laptop screen is too small, in order to make my apps fit on screen, I use font sizes 12 on my title bars, message boxes and icons and font sizes 11 on my palette titles, menus and tooltips. I don't know why I can't resize the window to make it larger than my screen in Windows (but it is possible in Kubuntu), therefore, some parts of my apps cannot be shown with my preferred font size. I have tried changing both the DPI and the font size by using .reg files. However, on my laptop screen, after I applied the file, signed out and in, the DPI setting changed, but the font sizes were resetted to tiny, and I had to apply the same file, signed out and in again to get the correct font size. The situation is even worse on my external monitor. After I applied the file, signed out and in, both the DPI setting and the font sizes were resetted to their default values, which were 96 DPI (the physical DPI as measured by dividing the resolution by the physical size is 93) and font size 9, which is totally unacceptable. How can I write the .reg files such that the settings can be correctly applied with a single sign in?

  So I know that you use a backslash to escape most things in php however the @ symbol is an operator that suppresses error messages. I'm trying to put an email string like this inside of an array "[email protected]", however php is throwing an error. How do you escape the @ sign? EDIT: Here is the code example that was throwing the error: $arr = array(3=> "[email protected]",4=> "[email protected]"); However replacing the double quotes with single quotes fixes the error as answered below.... why is that true?

• Drag and drop between HTML 5 and Silverlight 4

  Hi - Is it possible to drag an HTML 5 object, e.g. an , into a Silverlight 4 control and accept it? We've attempted to build a simple prototype using an HTML 5 example and a trivial Silverlight control but the cursor changes to the no-entry sign whenever we hover over the Silverlight control. We do, however, get drag entry events firing in Silverlight. Our control happily accepts files dragged from the desktop as expected. We think we've got the HTML 5 drag events set up correctly, and I can possibly get our test published somewhere in case that will help. We've successfully implemented dragging inside a Silverlight control but we now need to integrate with non-Silverlight page components. Is this actually possible to set up or are we just doing something wrong? Thanks for any advice!

• Which Android platform and API to target?

  I'm just about to launch my first Android app, and it runs on the Android 1.1 platform, API Level 2, but is this what I should officially sign and launch the app as? Does it affect performance at all or is it simply for Android to know which devices it works on? The only problem I see is that I can't specify <supports-screens> in the Manifest, which I would like to do, but it appears I'd have to launch at 1.6 at least for this to work. Would I be missing a huge number of phones by launching at 1.6 instead of 1.1? Thank you!

• GWT tries to load a deleted module

  I am using Eclispe with Google plugin for AppEngine and GWT. Recently I created a test GWT module, but eventually it has been deleted from the project and I can not find any sign of it in the project now. However, whenever I run the web app locally, I get in console the following message: Loading modules com.piq.exemity.Test [ERROR] Unable to find 'com/XXXXXX/Test.gwt.xml' on your classpath; could be a typo, or maybe you forgot to include a classpath entry for source? Has anyone got any idea where it can be hiding?

  I finally got this google maps page working however, it seems that everybody except the client can see it? They're saying the following error message appears "This web site needs a different Google Maps API key. A new key can be generated at..."   I am making a simple retail commerce solution, where there are prices in a few different models. These prices contribute to a total price. Imagine paying $0.30 more for selecting a topping for your yogurt. When I set the price field to t.decimal :price, precision:8, scale:2 The database stores 6.50 as 6.5. I know in the standard rails way, you call number_to_currency(price) to get the formatted value in the Views. I need to programmatically call the price field as well formatted string, i.e. $6.50 a few places that are not directly part of the View. Also, my needs are simple (no currency conversion etc), I prefer to have the price formatted universally in the model without repeated calling number_to_currency in views. Is there a good way I can modify my getter for price such that it always returns two decimal place with a dollar sign, i.e. $6.50 when it's called? Thanks in advance.

• What is the Simplest Possible Payment Gateway to Implement? (using Django)

  I'm developing a web application that will require users to either make one time deposits of money into their account, or allow users to sign up for recurring billing each month for a certain amount of money. I've been looking at various payment gateways, but most (if not all) of them seem complex and difficult to get working. I also see no real active Django projects which offer simple views for making payments. Ideally, I'd like to use something like Amazon FPS, so that I can see online transaction logs, refund money, etc., but I'm open to other things. I just want the EASIEST possible payment gateway to integrate with my site. I'm not looking for anything fancy, whatever does the job, and requires < 10 hours to get working from start to finish would be perfect. I'll give answer points to whoever can point out a good one. • Why is there no .NET Community Process?

  I was doing some research into general topics of software engineering and I came across the Java Community Process website: The JCP is the mechanism for developing standard technical specifications for Java technology. Anyone can register for the site and participate in reviewing and providing feedback for the Java Specification Requests (JSRs), and anyone can sign up to become a JCP Member and then participate on the Expert Group of a JSR or even submit their own JSR Proposal. Seems like a good idea to me, and there are lots of very well written specifications and reference implementations on the JCP website. So why is there no .NET Community Process? Is that something that Microsoft could or should start? Maybe they could install it on Codeplex.net and hand over the keys to the community.

  Hello onlookers, A web site I've been using has some interesting behavior... There is a form, but there is no button for submission. Instead, there is an input: <input id="ctl00_pageContent_loginButton" type="image" style="border-width: 0px;" alt="Login" src="images/btn_login.gif" name="ctl00$pageContent$loginButton"/> and when you hover over it the cursor turns into a hand, like an anchor tag -- however I do not see any css (in firebug) showing that the input should have a hover attribute. Further, the input does not have any sign of being an actual link/submission button. I'm stumped -- would love to know how they were able to do this. • OpenNETCF.Net.Ftp Behaving Flaky

  I tried posting on their boards (authors of this library), however it literally takes months for them to reply when it comes to the free software (can't blame them). But anyways I have found that this library is behaving weirdly - for instance, a major problem with my application is when someone is trying to sign in (through FTP), they provide a correct login and mistype the password, no reply is received from FTP server. I tried doing the same from command window just to verify that it's not the FTP server's fault; and FTP commands were received instantaneously. It almost looks as though this library eats the commands. The same actions often times will yield different results. Can anyone recommend a stable, reliable library to use with Compact framework? Or shed some light on this issue...?

• Reloading Rails Directories: Not Lib!

  I have checked out several questions on this, including all of those you see next to the question. Unfortunately, I'm not working with a plugin, and I don't want to work in lib. I have a directory called File.join(Rails.root, 'classes') and I'd like the classes in this directory to reload automatically in dev. In my environment.rb I have this line config.load_paths << File.join(Rails.root, 'classes') which works fine and blows up if the path isn't there. The reloading line in my development.rb also works fine require_dependency File.join(Rails.root, 'classes', 'blah.rb') which blows up if the file is not there (a good sign). However, the file doesn't reload. This all works if the file is in the root of lib and I use the require_dependency line, but my whole point is to get stuff out of lib as suggested here.

• Converting Negative Decimal To String Loses the -

  I'm required to send in a negative myDecimalValue.ToString("C"); The problem is if myDecimalValue is a negative, lets say -39, after conversion I'm getting $39.00 as the string not $39.00. So I'm not sure how to go about this. This is the utility method that takes in the decimal. If the decimal is negative, I want the ToString to show a negative public static BasicAmountType CreateBasicAmount(string amount, CurrencyCodeType currencyType) { BasicAmountType basicAmount = new BasicAmountType { currencyID = currencyType, Value = amount }; return basicAmount; } I could go either way, a C or F2, all I care is about getting that negative sign intothe string if the incoming decimal is negative. I suppose there's no way to do this unless I check for negativity inside my utility method here. I can't just send a negative number and expect the ToString to work and for the ToSTring to automatically see that the decimal is negative incoming?

• How to deal with Rounding-off TimeSpan?

  I take the difference between two DateTime fields, and store it in a TimeSpan variable, Now I have to round-off the TimeSpan by the following rules: if the minutes in TimeSpan is less than 30 then Minutes and Seconds must be set to zero, if the minutes in TimeSpan is equal to or greater than 30 then hours must be incremented by 1 and Minutes and Seconds must be set to zero. TimeSpan can also be a negative value, so in that case I need to preserve the sign.. I could be able to achieve the requirement if the TimeSpan wasn't a negative value, though I have written a code I am not happy with its inefficiency as it is more bulky .. If yes: Is it secure enough to create the encrypted form input elements without p12 certificate? • Changing the onClick area when adding an event

  Is there anyway to change what a user clicks on to add an event? Right now the entire day is clickable. This becomes an issue when the user needs to put focus back on that window, requiring a mouse click. If they click on the calendar, which takes up most of the page, then they launch the "Add Event" function. Is there a way to have a Plus sign (+), or whatever symbol in each day that when clicked, launches the "Add Event" function? Or... Is there a way to have a button across the top that said, "Add Event"?

  Some phones only prompt the user for permission the first time a connection is made. Others pop up the permission prompt whenever the MIDlet attempts to make a HTTP connection! What are the options if we want to suppress the prompt? Can we sign the JAR using only one CA (Certificate Authority) and have it work on all devices? Do we have to pay for a signature on every release? Is it an option to create our own CA certificate and tell our customers to install it on there device? Alternatively, it seems that plain socket connections do not suffer so. Is there a free implementation of HTTP on top of TCP for J2ME?

• Can i have a negative value as constant expression in Scala?

  I have an Java-Annotation that return a double value: @Retention(RetentionPolicy.RUNTIME) @Target(ElementType.FIELD) public @interface DoubleValue { double value(); } When i try to attach the annotation to a field in a scala class and the value is negativ like here: class Test { @DoubleValue(-0.05) var a = _ } i get an compiler error with the message: "annotation argument needs to be a constant; found: 0.05.unary_-". I understood that i need a numerical literal and i looked into the Scala Language Specification and it seems, that the - sign is only used for the exponent but not for the mantissa. Does someone has an idea how i can have a negative value as runtime information using annotations? Thanks, Klinke

• How to let a guest user start their workflow and prompt registration when they try to save their wor

  I'm wondering what I would do to go about letting a guest use my web application without registering, then if they attempt to save their work they are prompted with a registration. This will be in a rails application by the way. Can I just allow public access to part of the work flow, then when they save check if they're a registered user (by session value, or cookie?). If they aren't a registered user, save all their work into the session and let them fill out a sign out form. On successful registration automatically log them in and initiate the create on the db?

• How to Find Img Tags Having src null. and deleting it

  I need to delete or hide the Img tag or its parent when Img have src="". I have a script but it is not working.. window.onload=function(){ var imgs = document.getElementsByTagName("img"); for(var i = 0; i < imgs.length; i++) { var img = imgs[i]; if(img.src==""){ img.parentNode.removeChild(img); } } } Its is not finding the img having scr="". while in IE and Safari is is showing cross sign ( Red ). Can anybody help. Thanks.

• Codeigniter: A nice straight forward tutorial on how to build a reset password/forgotten password?

  I've built a full sign up system with user account activation, login, validation, captcha etc. To complete this I now need to implement a forgot password/reset password feature.. I have created one function that generates a random password 8 characters, another method that takes that random password word and applies sha1 and hashing. Also one that takes that hashed password and stores it in a table in the database. I will keep these methods to one side as they might come in handy later on but for now I would like to know if anyone can point me to a nice tutorial for creating a password reset feature for my website. Thanks in advance
