  • WRTU54G-TM T-Mobile@Home router with 3rd party firmware

    I've been doing a lot of reading online about the Linksys WRTU54G-TM router model that I now own. It seems getting a custom firmware onto it is not a problem. But no one is talking about retaining the Voip features (yet). So far they're all disappointed that it's not a SIP machine and used GSM over IPSec. Personally I don't care about using it with non-t-mobile. If I take the original firmware, shouldn't I be able to extract it, and it's SquashFS image, and then move all of the t-mobile specific binaries for enabling the calling features over to a custom firmware installation (maybe OpenWRT)? You might ask why, and the reason is, that if I do this I could retain my calling features, which I do want, and ssh to the router and use it to run additional software, as any OpenWRT router could do. Does anyone know if this can be done, and how the firmware's binaries could be gotten at and installed correctly?

  • WRT54G - how use port forwarding and VNC

    Since I have my home network behind a WRT54G, the router has an external "real" IP address, and the PCs behind it have 192.168.xxx.xxx addresses. I would like to be able to control one of them remotely - preferably using UltraVNC, but I am open to suggestions. Since I can't directly address that PC from the internet, I figured I could address a port on my router and have the traffic forwarded to the PC (and the same in the reverse direction). Is that feasible? Can anyone tell me how to do it (or point me to an URL that does)? Thanks

  • Thomson TCM 420 internal firewall deactivation

    Hi all, I'm having a really hard time with getting a box into active torrent mode. Windows firewall etc. is done, the actual problem seems to relate to the cable modem which is used to connect the box to the net. It's a Thomson TCM 420 which 'claims' to have an internal firewall. IMHO this internal FW keeps me from using the port I opened for torrenting. To cut it short: is there a way to disable that firewall? The web administration interface of the modem does not provide that option. thanks in advance K

  • Is there a way to route all traffic from Android through a proxy/tunnel to my Tomato router?

    I'd like to be able to connect my Android phone to public Wi-Fi points with unencrypted connections, but People can see what I'm doing by intercepting my radio transmissions People who own the access point can see what I'm doing. There are tools like WeFi and probably others to automatically connect to access points, but I don't trust random APs. I'd like all my traffic to go through an encrypted tunnel to my home router, and from there out to the Internet. I've done such tunnels from other computers with SSH/SOCKS and PPTP before. Is there any way to do this with Android? I've asked the same question on Force Close, so I'll change this question to be about both sides of the tunnel. More specifically: My phone now has CyanogenMod 4.2.3 My router currently has Tomato Version 1.25 I'm willing to change the router firmware, but I was having issues with DD-WRT disconnecting, which is why I'm using Tomato. Some possible solutions: SSH with dynamic SOCKS proxy: Android supposedly supports this through ConnectBot, but I don't know how to get it to route all traffic. Tomato supports this natively. I've been using this with MyEntunnel for my web browsing at work. Requires setting up each app to go through the proxy, though. PPTP: Android supports this natively. Tomato does not support this, unless you get the jyavenard mod and compile it? I previously used PPTP for web browsing at work and in China because it's native in Windows and DD-WRT. After a while I started having problems with it, then I started having problems with DD-WRT, so I switched to the SSH tunnel instead. Also it supposedly has security flaws, but I don't understand how big of a problem it is. IPSec L2TP: Android (phone) and Windows (work/China) both support this natively I don't know of a router that does. I could run it on my computer using openswan, but then there are two points of failure. OpenVPN: CyanogenMod apparently includes this, and now has an entry to create a new OpenVPN in the normal VPN interface, but I have no idea how to configure it. TunnelDroid apparently handles some of this. Future versions will have native support in the VPN settings? Tomato does not support this, but there are mods that do? I don't know how to configure this, either. TomatoVPN roadkill mod SgtPepperKSU mod Thor mod I could also run a VPN server on my desktop, I guess, though that's less reliable and presumably slower than running it in the router itself. I could change the router firmware, but I'm wary of more fundamental things breaking. Tomato has been problem-free for the regular stuff.     When I try to print an adobe acrobat document I get a message box that says "the document could not be printed." I then get another message box that says "there were no pages selected to print." The sender could print it. Other users on same computer are unable to print their docs but I can print from WORD. AHHHHH

  • Cannot install Windows 7 on new PC (BSOD during installation)

    Yesterday I had received new hardware and tried to assemble all of it. But when I was installing Windows 7 x64 for two times I got a BSOD, and a error message like this: Your PC has rebooted unexpectly, installation will continue after reboot. I have checked everything and tried to install once more time. It was almost successful, Windows had installed, but I cannot format my disk, open cmd or control panel, boot from DVD etc. It's the first time I have assembled a PC, and I don't know where the problem is, in my hardware or in Windows. My components: MSI z77a-g43 Intel i5 3570k Seagate Barracuda (plug into sata3 slot 6 Gb, there I have also sata 3 Gb slot) Corsair XMS3 (4x4Gb) HIS IceQ Also in the BIOS, I have changed RAM frequency to DDR3 1600 and voltage to 1.65v

  • Throttle network bandwidth per application in Mac OS X

    I notice that iTunes seems to suck up all my bandwidth and doesn’t play nice with other applications that use the web when it's downloading. In fact, it doesn't even give itself enough bandwidth when browsing the iTunes Store while downloading large or many files (podcasts, TV shows, large apps, etc). I'm not concerned with getting all my downloads as soon as possible, they're really low priority, and I'd rather not have to do this while I'm awake, but I can't hit the refresh button if I'm in bed and forgot it already. Is there an application or tool via the Terminal to limit the download bandwidth that iTunes gets without also hindering web browsers or other applications? FOSS/GPL software is preferable, but pay software might be acceptable too.

  • Plugging in USB flash drive only shows error 43, "Unknown device"

    My friend saved by his works onto my flash drive which was detectable/openable, but ... The very next day, the drive wouldn't show up in My Computer and Windows gave him error code 43 (Unknown device). I tried others few systems that once detected his flash drive but the problem still persisted. I don't know whether or not his flash drive is damaged but when plug/un-plugging, there are still sounds coming out though. Tried solutions: On Vista Home Premium (his computer): Uninstalled -- Restarted computer -- Re-installed (ERROR 43) On Windows 7 (my computer): Uninstalled -- Restarted computer -- Can't install (ERROR 43) It seems that my computer (Windows 7) had the lastest drivers already but still can't detect it. Its a Kingston DataTraveller 101 (DT101) 8GB. Could unplugging the flash drive without clicking "Safely Remove Hardware" have caused the problem?

Is this a known issue, and is there a way to fix it?     I am running a centos 5 image on the vmware player and as of recently, I was able to check out from a repository that is no longer working. I am now getting: svn: Unknown hostname 'www.kennykong.com' It is a valid hostname and I know this because I have this svn location on Windows and I can browse/checkout no problem.     I'm not sure which, but I just had a heck of a time getting my computer to boot up and not freeze. It would run until it finished booting windows, then everything would freeze. This happened until I turned off turboboost and all the c states on the processor. What could be causing this? Is the processor going bad?

drive and I get this error message whenever I try to double click c:\ drive or other drives but other than that everything seems to be working fince except that I can not access my drives.... its very   • How to connect to a SOCKS Proxy from an iPhone/iPod Touch?

    I like to surf securely and privately via a SOCKS proxy which I created via SSH tunneling, on the Mac. I used the SSH client on my Mac to achieve this. Then I thought, since the iPhone OS is essentially Mac OS, the same trick might work also on the iPhone. I managed to create a SSh tunnel on my iPhone via the Terminal (iPhone's Terminal). (Yes, it's jail-broken) ssh -D [port] [email protected] At this stage my iPhone is SOCKS proxy. However, there doesn't seem to be a way in the iPhone networking preference panel to specify a SOCKS proxy. Someone suggest creating a Proxy Auto-Contig (PAC) file to workaround this, but that sounds complicated. Any ideas how to make iPhone use it's own SOCKS proxy?
