• Visual Studio 2012 setup crashes when trying to install

  In my Win7(64 bit) PC, I installed VS 2012 Ultimate Trial version few days back and today i got my msdn subscription of VS2012 Premium. so i uninstalled the Trial and was trying to run the setup exe for VS 2012 and dit is crashing. this is the error details i am seeing. Anybody know how to fix this ? • The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible 0xc000000e

  A family member of mine recently went on vacation and turned off their computer, something they normally do not do, upon returning home it would not turn on and now returns the error message below. Generally friends and family come to me for help with computers and I have no problem, however this time I am a bit stumped. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. As you can see the error message is: Status: 0xc000000e Info: The best selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. Before going to this error message it briefly flashes the Windows loading screen. I have been able to confirm through the Windows RE Command Line and the dir command that the C: drive is accessible and likely is just suffering a bootup issue. I have tried: Launching the repair process discussed in the error message three times however each time it requires a restart and then returns to the same error message. Changing the boot order to be hard drive first Getting into safe mode; F8 just results in the same error message before I can get to the menu to select safe mode I have checked to make sure the BCD (bcdedit, Boot Configuration Data) is still intact as per https://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH160475 I plan to try (but would like additional comments on): sfc /scannow; requires a restart and thus will likely result in the error message again A memory scan Bootrec as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392#method1 Swapping IDE cables/ports Resetting the BIOS I noticed others with similar issues around the web are dual-booting however this machine is not setup in a dual-boot environment. Additionally at one point this error message supposedly showed up before I started working on the computer: The instruction at 0xfbe2584d referenced memory at 0x00000008. The memory could not be read. As previously stated any additional suggestions or words of advice would be greatly apprecaited.

• win xp wifi networking

  I have 2 pcs with win xp and a wifi router ( without outgoing internet connection )...my job was to connect them over wifi to share some files. router was properly configured, both computers connected to wifi without problems, but when I tried to network them I could not see them in workgroup...i changed their names and added them to same workgroup but i couldn't connect pc1 to pc2 ( i could ping router from each pc but pinging other computer resulted in ping timeout) ..now i cant figure out why this is not working since I've done this before on more complex networks and it should work but...( maybe I have gremlins hiding somewhere..) edit1: Firewall is down on both machines( I disengaged it in both control panel and in services) and folder sharing and permissions are ok.. edit2: I know about Ad Hoc network ( wlan-to-wlan, without router/switch ) but that's not what I am trying to accomplish here :)

• Creating a dynamic lacp trunk from HP Procurve 2412zl to Proliant DL380 G7

  I'm configuring an IEEE 802.3ad (LACP) dynamic trunk from a HP Procurve 2412zl (firmware version K.15.07) switch to a HP Proliant DL380 G7 server. The DL380 has 4 NICs and is running Win2008 R2, so I'm teaming the NICs together and leaving everything on the recommended "automatic" setting in the HP NIC configuration tool. The server is one of two, they'll be connected on interfaces F17-F20 and F21-F24 respectively on the switch. I need the servers in a separate VLAN, here is the configuration for the VLAN: vlan 10 name "Lab_Mgmt" untagged B2,F17-F24 ip address 172.22.71.3 255.255.255.0 tagged B21 exit There is a DHCP-relay into the VLAN 10 from another device beyond interface B21. The Advanced Traffic Management Guide says that in order to run a dynamic LACP trunk on another VLAN besides the DEFAULT_VLAN, you need to first enable GVRP and then use "forbid" to stop the interfaces from automatically joining DEFAULT_VLAN when the dynamic trunk is created. GVRP brings some other stuff with it that I don't want or need, so I disable it with "unknown-vlans disable" on all other interfaces. Everything should be good, but it isn't. The server is not getting an IP-address from the DHCP, which it does if I'm not enabling LACP. If I configure the server to a static IP-address on the VLAN 10 subnet, it can't even ping the switch IP-address, much less anything outside of the VLAN. The switch can't ping the server either. I did another attempt with F17-F20 tagged, and checking the box "Default Native Tag (VLAN 10)" in the NIC configuration tool on the server, but there was no difference. Does anyone have any idea what I might have missed?

• Gigabyte Onboard graphics card heating up and then crashing

  5 minutes after I turn on my PC the onboard graphics card is usually over 80° celsius and then crashes (random colors on screen, only way to get out is to just plug out the pc). I haven't installed any new drivers or added/changed hardware recently Everything went fine until yesterday What should I do next? Do I have to buy a new mainboard right now? There is no fan on the onboard graphics card, only a heatsink.

• Filter rule for SMS / text messages in exchange active sync (SMS sync)

  Exchange server 2010 introduces SMS Sync (via exchange active sync), which works fine with my android device and the Samsung email app. However, all text messages are synced to my exchange inbox, which is a pain. I'd like to have them filtered to a specific folder. So far, I haven't figured out a useful filter rule for achieving that, since there seems to be no header indicating it's a text message. Has anyone managed to do that? Note that I'm not using Outlook as an email client, so I'm specifically looking for a server-side rule.

  Hello, I created install script that will install SQL Server 2008 R2 on windows XP SP3, windows vista and windows 7. One of the command that i used in the installation is for silent installation of SQL Server 2008 R2. When i install it on windows XP everything works just fine but when i try to install it on Windows 7 i get an error. What am I doing wrong? • Fiddler not working in Windows 7 - LAN Settings locked?

  I've been using Fiddler for years, but now, on Windows 7 (64 bit) I cannot get it to monitor traffic from IE 8. With the Firefox add-on, it is able to monitor Firefox traffic with no problem. This is not related to monitoring HTTPS traffic, or traffic to localhost. I've tried running IE and/or Fiddler with "Run as Administrator", but no luck. The best clue to the problem that I have is that in IE8, the "Local Area Network (LAN) Settings" dialog accessed from "LAN Settings" in the Internet Options / Connections tab is all grayed out. I have two Windows 7, 64 bit computers, both on the same LAN. One works fine, the other has these settings grayed out, and a note on the Connections tab: "Some settings are managed by your system administrator". However, the system administrator has NOT set any. Any ideas?

• Capistrano asks for SSH password when deploying from local machine to server

  When I try to ssh to a server, I'm able to do it as my id_rsa.pub key is added to the authorized keys in the server. Now when I try to deploy my code via Capistrano to the server from my local project folder, the server asks for a password.   Being left-handed, I use the mouse in my left hand. In most applications I use Ctrl + Insert or Shift + Insert to copy and paste (with my right hand). For some bone-headed reason, this is not supported in Photoshop, so I have to use right-click Copy sub-menus, which is a lot slower. Is there a way to configure Photoshop to use Ctrl + Insert to copy and Shift + Insert to paste?

• Blackberry Enterprise Server v5.x not forwarding mail to devices

  My BlackBerry enterprise server recently stopped forwarding messages to devices. In fact, the server claims that the last time it communicated with all the devices associated with it, was on Thursday night (2 nights ago.) The catch is this, the Exchange server is running properly (or as properly as Exchange can run :) ) The SQL server seems to be running properly. And the Blackberry Enterprise server seems to be running correctly. Other than the fact that the server has not communicated with my device since Thursday, and the fact that I am not getting messages, there is nothing wrong. How do I get these message to be forwarded to devices again? I have restarted the BES services int he order suggested by the BlackBerry folks

  I'm trying to use nscd (Nameservices Cache Daemon) to cache dns locally so I can stop using bind to do it. I've gotten it started and ntpd seems to attempt to use it. But everything else for hosts seems to ignore it. e.g if I do dig apache.org 3 times none of them will hit the cache. I'm viewing the cache stats using nscd -g to determine whether it's been used.   Ok, I'm not a script writer, otherwise I'd have this automated already. I need a quick assist in the most basic steps possible. I have a SharePoint form library using InfoPath based forms. I have a "Public" template for my customers which submits to a "Private" library, through very granulated permissions so they cannot view the library. The Private library has it's own template based on the original Public template. This way I can transition one form's information seamlessly to the new template. The new Private template would have all of the internal details that we do not want the customer to see, but also all information fron the customer-filled Public form. Is there any way to default all items opened from the Private library to use the Private Template, even though they were submitted form the Public template?
