• Building XUL app a-la SongBird

  Hi, I've started exploring XUL Runner as a potential tool for an upcoming app. I can get some good examples running using the command line xulrunner-bin myapp. How can compile it all in a native looking application, like SongBird does. I understand SongBird packages the entire xul runtime with it, and I'm happy with that. I'm just wondering is there are any tool I can use to compile my xul project as a standalone app? Any Mac and/or PC hint much appreciated! EDIT: I guess what I'm looking for is a way to generate a Mac and/or PC XUL stub application (but not an installer). Is there something like that? cheers Ben

• Apache mod rewrite rules to Zeus rewrite rules

  Hi, This morning I wanted to move my development website online (in a protected folder), but I figured out that our host (on a shared server) does not use apache mod_rewrite but Zeus rules. I've never heard about that before but it seems that apache rules could be automatically converted via a command line, but as you can guess I have no such access on the server. So, do you know any online coverter from Apache rules to Zeus ones? (I tried google but found nothing). Or could someone translate these simple rules with his server: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . index.php [L] It should normaly be something like: match URL into $ with ^[^\/]*\.html$ if matched then set URL = index.php endif But it just doesn't do anything, just the annoying 404 error page. • Python (Twisted) - reading from fifo and sending read data to multiple protocols

  Hi, Im trying to write some kind of multi protocol bot (jabber/irc) that would read messages from fifo file (one liners mostly) and then send them to irc channel and jabber contacts. So far, I managed to create two factories to connect to jabber and irc, and they seem to be working. However, I've problem with reading the fifo file - I have no idea how to read it in a loop (open file, read line, close file, jump to open file and so on) outside of reactor loop to get the data I need to send, and then get that data to reactor loop for sending in both protocols. I've been looking for information on how to do it in best way, but Im totally lost in the dark. Any suggestion/help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  I want to build a shared library using waf as it looks much easier and less cluttered than GNU autotools. Must I specify each and every .c file instead of using a wildcard? It is planned for the library sources to be within a sub directory, and programs that use the lib each in their own sub directories.

  First bit of the question: What are the legal requirements of LGPL code during the deployment of a commercial product? Software package should include LGPL licence file Anything else? Shall we add a line to our "software agreement text" where you need to click next in the installer ? Second bit, Is there any known / accepted ways of distributing the changed library. Since it's LGPL anything derived from it should be licenced under LGPL. But what about after that? Shall we just send a copy to the original author? Shall we put it in our website so people can download? Or ship the source code with the product? Or just put a note that saying "e-mail us for the source code of this library".

• Linear Regression and Java Dates

  I am trying to find the linear trend line for a set of data. The set contains pairs of dates (x values) and scores (y values). I am using a version of this code as the basis of my algorithm. The results I am getting are off by a few orders of magnitude. I assume that there is some problem with round off error or overflow because I am using Date's getTime method which gives you a huge number of milliseconds. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to minimize the errors and compute the correct results?

• How do I sign exes and dlls with my code signing certificate

  (I purchased a code signing cert from Thawte and have been going out of my mind with frustration at the whole process. What I have from them are: .spc / .p7b file .pvk file (NOTE I do not have a pfx file from them. God knows why, but I have been fighting with their tech support for a week) In any case I find "help" links on their site and at MS for signcode.exe which is useless for me because I can't find that exe on my machine, however I do have signtool.exe. Unfortunately i am mystified at the command line parameters listed on this MS help site. Specifically, what parameters do I use and what values? I tried what I thought was obvious but it does not work at all. I can get the signing wizard to work, however I need this to work non-interactively in a hudson CI batch file. It really doesn't seem like it should be this difficult, but so far it is all black magic. thanks for any help

  I'm using QPainter to draw multiline text on QImage. However, I also need to display a colored rectangle around each character's bounding box. So I need to know the bounding box that each character had when being drawn. For example, for painter.drawText(QRect(100, 100, 200, 200), Qt::TextWordWrap, "line\nline2", &r); I would need to get 10 rectangles, taking into account newlines, word-wrap, tabs, etc. For example, the rectangle of the second 'l' would be below the rectangle of the first 'l', instead of being to the right of 'e', because of the newline.

• Why does CTFontCreateWithName != NULL on iPhone OS 3.1.3?

  I am following the instructions in the Apple dev docs: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/DeveloperTools/Conceptual/cross_development/Using/using.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/20002000-1114537 In this case, I'm trying to conditionally execute code, depending on whether or not CTFontCreateWithName is defined. Here is what I've reduced my test case down to: if (CTFontCreateWithName != NULL) NSLog(@"CTFontCreateWithName = %p", CTFontCreateWithName); This prints "CTFontCreateWithName = 0x0", which suggests that it's both NULL and not NULL at the same time. Even though CTFontCreateWithName != NULL evaluates to true, I get an error saying it can't resolve the symbol _CTFontCreateWithName once it gets to the line that uses it. Any ideas? Is %p not the correct way to print out the address of a function? For what it's worth, the example in their docs, UIGraphicsBeginPDFPage != NULL, evaluates to false, so it works for that one.

In firebug I get this error Error: Permission denied for <http://www.siena.edu> to get property HTMLDocument.body from <https://siteframework.siena.edu>. Source File: https://siteframework.siena.edu/FormManager/action/v2/autoHeight.js Line: 4 I am assuming it is because they are on different domains that it won't execute it. This is to prevent XSS right? Is there a way around it?

• One row is skipped each time the program scans a matrix from file !

  Hello there, I had this code working yesterday, but it seems like I edited it a bit and lost the working version. I cant get this to work anymore. I basically want to scan a matrix from a .txt file. But each time it scans the first row, the second one is skipped, and it reads the third instead :( Here is my code : for(i=0;i<=test->rowmat1;i++){ for(j=0;j<=test->colmat1;j++){ fscanf(fin,"%f\t",&test->mat[i][j]); } fscanf(fin,"%*[^\n]",&test->mat[i][j]); } For example, for a matrix of : 1.00 2.00 3.00 4.00 5.00 6.00 7.00 8.00 9.00 10.00 11.00 12.00 If I extract 3 rows and 3 cols, I get : 1.00 2.00 3.00 7.00 8.00 9.00 Then fails, it wants to skip over the second line but there is nothing after 10 11 12 Why did it stop working ?   Hi, when generating python wrappers with swig the python wrapper classes in the generated python file do not have an explicit self parameter, for example see below: class PySwigIterator(_object): def value(*args): return _spatiotemporalnmf.PySwigIterator_value(*args) def incr(*args): return _spatiotemporalnmf.PySwigIterator_incr(*args) def decr(*args): return _spatiotemporalnmf.PySwigIterator_decr(*args) def distance(*args): return _spatiotemporalnmf.PySwigIterator_distance(*args) I am developing with the eclipse pluging Pydev. Pydev always shows an error when it detects a method without explicit self parameter. I am aware of two methods to get rid of the errors: First, disable error checking for the whole project in the Pydev preferences. Second, add a #@NoSelf to every line with an error. I don't want to use the first one, because I still want to get error warnings for my non-swig-generated files. Obviously the second one is also not very good, because I would have to do it by hand and every time I generate the file again, all #@NoSelfs will be gone. My Question now is, is there a better way to achieve this? Thanks

  Hi,in order to delete all ".svn" files/folders/subfolders in "myfolder" I use this simple line in a batch file: FOR /R myfolder %%X IN (.svn) DO (RD /S /Q "%%X") This works, but if there are no ".svn" files/folders the batch file shows a warning saying: "The system cannot find the file specified." This warning is very noisy so I was wondering how to make it understand that if it doesn't find any ".svn" files/folders he must skip the RD command. Usually using wild cards would suffice, but in this case I don't know how to use them, because I don't want to delete files/folders with .svn extension, but I want to delete the files/folders named exactly ".svn", so if I do this: FOR /R myfolder %%X IN (*.svn) DO (RD /S /Q "%%X") it would NOT delete files/folders named extaclty ".svn" anymore. I tried also this: FOR /R myfolder %%X IN (.sv*) DO (RD /S /Q "%%X") but it doesn't work either, he deletes nothing. Thanks for any help!

  Hi, I'm coming from (some limited) PHP experience, in which you can just declare functions in-line. I'm trying to the same thing with a JSP but not working. Basically I have a jsp that can generate a 3 different pages, and I wanted to put these each in a separate method. I've tried "getLayoutInflator()" instead of "LayoutInflator.from(this)" with the same result. If I replace the LayoutInflater line with "setContentView(R.layout.unit_view)" my program doesn't crash with a null pointer exception but my content is completely blank and empty. I get the tab and that's it. I've checked to make sure R.layout.unit_view and tabHost are not null when it runs the LayoutInflater line and they seem to be fine. They're defenitely not null. I've also checked to make sure LayoutInflater.from(this) returns a valid layout inflater object and it does.
