• SqlMetal, Sql Server 2008 database, Table with HierachyID, dal cs file is created sometimes ?

  I have 2 databases with a 2 tables with HierachyID fields. For one database I can get a dal cs file, for the other database I cannot get a dal cs file ? HBus is a database I can get the dal cs for, ... SqlMetal /server:.\SQLSERVER2008 /database:HBus /code:HBusDC.cs /views /functions /sprocs /namespace:HBusDC /context:HBusDataContext This kicks me out a file, ... which works, but excludes the HierarchyID field for the table and includes all other fields for that table. This is OK I do not mind.   I'm busy using Google Charts in one of my projects to display data in a table. Everything is working great. Except that I need to see what line a user selected once they click a button. This would obviously be done with Javascript, but I've been struggling for days now to no avail. • Maintaining ViewModel fields with default model binding and failed validation

  I have an ASP.Net MVC Controller with a 'MapColumns' action along with a corresponding ViewModel and View. I'm using the defaultModelBinder to bind a number of drop down lists to a Dictionary in the ViewModel. The view model also contains an IList field for both source and destination columns which are used to render the view. My question is what to do when validation fails on the Post call to the MapColumns action? Currently the MapColumns view is returned with the ViewModel resulting from the default binding. This contains the Dictionary values but not the two lists used to render the page. What is the best way to re-provide these to the view? I can set them explicitly after failed validation, but if obtaining these values (via GetSourceColumns() and GetDestinationColumns() in the example) carries any overhead this doesn't seem ideal. What I am looking for is a way to retain these lists when they are not bound to the model from the view. • using checkbox yo update MySql table

  Hi All I have been searching round the internet for days on this matter but I keep coming up against a brick wall. What I have is a table full of checkboxes inside an admin area acting as a monthly "to-do" list. It's essentially a worksheet of 30 or so things to do each month that must be checked off each month and notes added if applicable. I have managed to get the checkboxes to update via mysql and be shown somewhere as a list of ticks. I simply did this my setting the value to 1 and on submission it updates the sql table. I have to cover my bases here and also offer the option to un-tick items if they have been ticked b y mistake. But I cant figure out how this is done. • Minimizing SpringLdap dependencies.

  I would like to use SpringLDAP to do some simple username/password verification for authentication purposes. WHile the actual jar file is quite small (less than 1 meg) it seems to have a lot of dependencies as listed by link text. By alot i mean it seems to suck in over 50 things many which dont seem right such as spring-jdbc as I dont want any jdbc and only the ldap template class and its bare dependencies. Without wasting too much time is it possible to the spring-ldap with only a bare minimum number of dependencies which amount to something like: spring core spring ldap whatever logging deps they require. spring tx I dont see or appreciate why the rest of thes tuff is reuqired and was wondering can anyone verify they arent really needed in the end if one sticks to the basics. The other stuff i am referring too include: spring-orm // no jdbc beans // i dont want ioc. spring-aop // no need for aop. I intend to wire up the beans i will be using manually. I dont want more crap in there for what ammounts to setting a few properties, and want confirmation that I dont need what is probably there just to do the ioc stuff when all i want is the ldap stuff.

If i up the subclasses in xml all is well, but not from code.   Hello, We're running a large site at the moment which has a dedicated VPS for it's database server which is running MySQL and nothing else. At the moment all four CPU cores are running at close to 100% all of the time but the memory usage sticks at around 268MB out of an available 4096MB. I'm wondering what we can do to better utilise the memory and reduce the CPU load by tweaking MySQL's settings? • stringstream problem - vector iterator not dereferencable

  Hello I've got a problem with the following code snippet. It is related to the stringstream "stringstream css(cv.back())" bit. If it is commented out the program will run ok. It is really weird, as I keep getting it in some of my programs, but if I just create a console project the code will run fine. In some of my Win32 programs it will and in some it won't (then it will return "vector iterator not dereferencable" but it will compile just fine). Any ideas at all would be really appreciated.   I can't figure out why prototype suppressess the error messages in the dom:loaded event, and in AJAX handlers. If you move the console.log(idontexist); line out of the handler, you get the idontexist is not defined error in the console. I find it a little weird, that in other event handlers, like 'click', you get the error message, it seems that it's only the dom:loaded that has this problem. The same goes for AJAX handlers: new Ajax.Request('/', { method: 'get', onComplete: function(r) { console.log('xhr complete'); alert(youwontseeme); } }); You won't see any errors. This is with prototype.js 1.6.1, and I can't find any indication of this behavior in the docs, nor a way to enable error reporting in these handlers. I have tried stepping through the code with FireBug's debugger, and it seems to jump to a function on line 53 named K, when it encounters the missing variable in the dom:loaded handler: K: function(x) { return x } But how? Why? When? I can't see any try/catch block there, how does the program flow end up there? I know that I can make the errors visible by packing my dom:ready handler(s) in try/catch blocks, but that's not a very comfortable option. Same goes for registering a global onException handler for the AJAX calls. Why does it even suppress the errors? Did someone encounter this before?

• How to get jQuery to work with Prototype

  Ok so here is the situation. Been pulling my hair out on this one. I'm a noob at this. Only been using rails for about 6 weeks. I'm using the standard setup package, and my code leverages prototype helpers heavily. Like I said, noob ;) So I'm trying to put in some jQuery effects, like PrettyPhoto. But what happens is that when the page is first loaded, PrettyPhoto works great. However, once someone uses a Prototype helper, like a link created with link_to_remote, Prettyphoto stops working. I've tried jRails, all of the fixes proposed on the JQuery site to stop conflicts... http://docs.jquery.com/Using_jQuery_with_Other_Libraries ...even done some crazy things likes renaming all of the $ in prototype.js to $$$ to no avail. Either the prototype helpers break, or jQuery breaks. Seems nothing I do can get these to work together. Any ideas?   I'm trying to make this 2-player web game application using Spring MVC. I have session-scoped beans Player and application-scoped bean GameList, which creates and stores Game instances and passes them to Players. On player creates a game and gets its ID from GameList and other player sends ID to GameList and gets Game instance. The Game instance has its players as attributes. Problem is that each player sees only himself instead of the other one. Example of what each player sees: First player (Alice) creates a game: Creator: Alice, Joiner: Empty Second player (Bob) joins the game: Creator: Bob, Joiner: Bob First player refreshes her browser Creator: Alice, Joiner: Alice What I want them to see is Creator: Alice, Joiner: Bob. Easy way to achieve this is saving information about players instead of references to players, but the game object needs to call methods on its player objects, so this is not a solution. I think it's because of aop:scoped-proxy of session-scoped Player bean. If I understand this, the Game object has reference to proxy, which refers to Player object of current session. • synchronizing XML nodes between class and file using C#

  I'm trying to write an IXmlSerializable class that stays synced with an XML file. The XML file has the following format: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <logging> <logLevel>Error</logLevel> </logging> ...potentially other sections... </configuration> I have a DllConfig class for the whole XML file and a LoggingSection class for representing <logging> and its contents, i.e., <logLevel>. DllConfig has this property: [XmlElement(ElementName = LOGGING_TAG_NAME, DataType = "LoggingSection")] public LoggingSection Logging { get; protected set; } What I want is for the backing XML file to be updated (i.e., rewritten) when a property is set. I already have DllConfig do this when Logging is set. However, how should I go about doing this when Logging.LogLevel is set? Here's an example of what I mean: var config = new DllConfig("path_to_backing_file.xml"); config.Logging.LogLevel = LogLevel.Information; // not using Logging setter, but a // setter on LoggingSection, so how // does path_to_backing_file.xml // have its contents updated? My current solution is to have a SyncedLoggingSection class that inherits from LoggingSection and also takes a DllConfig instance in the constructor. It declares a new LogLevel that, when set, updates the LogLevel in the base class and also uses the given DllConfig to write the entire DllConfig out to the backing XML file. Is this a good technique? I don't think I can just serialize SyncedLoggingSection by itself to the backing XML file, because not all of the contents will be written, just the <logging> node. Then I'd end up with an XML file containing only the <logging> section with its updated <logLevel>, instead of the entire config file with <logLevel> updated. Hence, I need to pass an instance of DllConfig to SyncedLoggingSection. It seems almost like I want an event handler, one in DllConfig that would notice when particular properties (i.e., LogLevel) in its properties (i.e., Logging) were set. Is such a thing possible?

  Hi, I'm using fwrite() and fread() for the first time to write some data structures to disk and I have a couple of questions about best practices and proper ways of doing things. What I'm writing to disk (so I can later read it back) is all user profiles inserted in a Graph structure. The break is there for testing purposes. There's thousands of users and I'm still experimenting with the code. My questions: After reading this I decided to use fwrite() on each element instead of writing the whole structure. I also avoid writing the pointer to to the mailbox as I don't need to save that pointer. So, is this the way to go? Multiple fwrite()'s instead of a global one for the whole structure? Isn't that slower? How do I read back this content? I know I have to use fread() but I don't know the size of the strings, cause I used strlen() to write them. I could write the output of strlen() before writing the string, but is there any better way without extra writes?

  Unfortunately most of my DB experience has been with MSSQL which tends to hold your hand a lot more than Oracle. What I'm trying to do is fairly trivial in tSQL, however, pl/sql is giving me a headache. However, when the procedure attempts to execute the query, passing the results of the XMLELEMENT function into the USERRECORD output parameter, I get the following exception: Error report: ORA-01422: exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows ORA-06512: at "USPX_GETUSERBYID", line 4 ORA-06512: at line 3 01422. 00000 - "exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows" *Cause: The number specified in exact fetch is less than the rows returned. *Action: Rewrite the query or change number of rows requested I'm baffled trying to nail this down, and unfortunately my google-fu hasn't helped. I've found plenty of Oracle SQL|XML examples, but none that deal with XML returns from a procedure. Note: I know that an alternate method of retrieving XML using DBMS methods exists, however, it's my understanding that that functionality is deprecated in favor of SQL|XML.

• Running same powershell script multiple asynchronous times with separate runspace

  Hi, I have a powershell script which is called by a batch script which is called by Trap Receiver (which also passes environment variables) (running on windows 2008). The traps are flushed out at times in sets of 2-4 trap events, and the batch script will echo the trap details for each message to a logfile, but the powershell script on the next line of the batch script will only appear to process the first trap message (the powershell script writes to the same logfile). My interpetation is that the defaultrunspace is common to all iterations of the script running and this is why the others appear to be ignored. I've tried adding "-sta" when I invoke the powershell script using "powershell.exe -command", but this didn't help. I've researched and found a method using C# but I don't know this language, and busy enough learning powershell, so hoping to find a more direct solution especially as interleaving a "wrapper" between batch and powershell will involve passing the environment variables. http://www.codeproject.com/KB/threads/AsyncPowerShell.aspx I've hunted through stackoverflow, and again the only question of similar vein was using C#. Any suggestions welcome. Some script background: The powershell script is actually a modification of a great script found at gregorystrike website - cant post the link as I'm limited to one link but its the one for Lefthand arrays. Lots of mods so it can do multiple targets from one .ini file, taking in the environment variables, and options to run portions of the script interactively with winform. But you can see the gist of the original script. The batch script is pretty basic. I was spending more time on seting up the data than to write my unit test.
