  I have defined a binary tree: data Tree = Null | Node Tree Int Tree and have implemented a function that'll yield the sum of the values of all its nodes: sumOfValues :: Tree -> Int sumOfValues Null = 0 sumOfValues (Node Null v Null) = v sumOfValues (Node Null v t2) = v + (sumOfValues t2) sumOfValues (Node t1 v Null) = v + (sumOfValues t1) sumOfValues (Node t1 v t2) = v + (sumOfValues t1) + (sumOfValues t2) It works as expected. I had the idea of also trying to implement it using guards: sumOfValues2 :: Tree -> Int sumOfValues2 Null = 0 sumOfValues2 (Node t1 v t2) | t1 == Null && t2 == Null = v | t1 == Null = v + (sumOfValues2 t2) | t2 == Null = v + (sumOfValues2 t1) | otherwise = v + (sumOfValues2 t1) + (sumOfValues2 t2) but this one doesn't work because I haven't implemented Eq, I believe: No instance for (Eq Tree) arising from a use of `==' at zzz3.hs:13:3-12 Possible fix: add an instance declaration for (Eq Tree) In the first argument of `(&&)', namely `t1 == Null' In the expression: t1 == Null && t2 == Null In a stmt of a pattern guard for the definition of `sumOfValues2': t1 == Null && t2 == Null The question that has to be made, then, is how can Haskell make pattern matching without knowing when a passed argument matches, without resorting to Eq?

• JavaScript Key Codes

  I'm working with a JavaScript routine I didn't write. It is called from a text box's onkeydown attribute to prevent unwanted keystrokes. The first argument is apparently not used. The second argument is a list of characters that should be allowed. function RestrictChars(evt, chars) { var key; var keychar; if (window.event) key = window.event.keyCode; else if (e) key = e.which; else return true; keychar = String.fromCharCode(key); if ((key == null) || (key == 0) || (key == 8) || (key == 9) || (key == 13) || (key == 27)) // Control key return true; else if (((chars).indexOf(keychar) > -1)) return true; else return false; } This seems to work for alpha-numeric characters. However, characters such as . and / cause this function to return false, even when these characters are included in the chars parameter. For example, if the . key is pressed, key is set to 190, and keychar gets set to the "3/4" character. Can anyone see how this was meant to work and/or why it doesn't? I don't know enough about JavaScript to see what it's trying to do.

• Template specialization to use default type if class member typedef does not exist

  Hi Everyone, I'm trying to write code that uses a member typedef of a template argument, but want to supply a default type if the template argument does not have that typedef. A simplified example I've tried is this: struct DefaultType { DefaultType() { printf("Default "); } }; struct NonDefaultType { NonDefaultType() { printf("NonDefault "); } }; struct A {}; struct B { typedef NonDefaultType Type; }; template<typename T, typename Enable = void> struct Get_Type { typedef DefaultType Type; }; template<typename T> struct Get_Type< T, typename T::Type > { typedef typename T::Type Type; }; int main() { Get_Type::Type test1; Get_Type::Type test2; } I would expect this to print "Default NonDefault", but instead it prints "Default Default". My expectation is that the second line in main() should match the specialized version of Get_Type, because B::Type exists. However, this does not happen. Can anyone explain what's going on here and how to fix it, or another way to accomplish the same goal? Thank you.

The output I get though is this: What team controls Alaska ? How many unites are on Alaska ? (there is space at the end to type in an input) This would seem to suggest that the while terminates before an input is ever typed in since the first line of text is within the while while the second line of text comes after it outside of it. Why is this happening?

• Having trouble deleting a node from a linked list

  I've been working on this code for my shell that I'm creating and for some reason it isn't working. I'm implementing a watchuser function that watch's a user when an argument is given (args[1]). However, when a second argument (args[2]) of "off" is given, the user should be deleted from the linked list and should no longer be watched. struct userList * goList; goList = userInventory; do{ if (strcmp(userInventory->username, args[1]) == 0){ printf("%s\n", args[1]); printf("%s\n",userInventory->username); struct userList * temp2; temp2 = userInventory->next; if (userInventory->next != NULL){ userInventory->next = temp2->next; userInventory->next->prev = userInventory; } free(temp2); } goList = goList->next; }while (goList != userInventory); My global struct is also as follows: struct userList{ char * username; struct userList * prev; struct userList * next; } For reason, this code won't delete the user node from my linked list. The adding works, but this remove function won't and I'm not sure why. The print statements are there just to make sure it's executing the condition, which it is. If anyone could help me find the reasoning behind my error, I'd greatly appreciate it. Till then, I'll be trying to debug this. Thanks.

• Cannot create a project TFS 2012 - TF218027

  I've just installed TFS2012 and am trying to create a new project in the default collection via Visual Studio 2012 but I keep getting this error message: TF218027: The following reporting folder could not be created on the server that is running SQL Server Reporting Services: /TfsReports/DefaultCollection. The report server is located at: http://<servername>/Reports. The error is: The permissions granted to user '<domain>/grandmasterflush' are insufficient for performing this operation.. Verify that the path is correct and that you have sufficient permissions to create the folder on that server and then try again. I've checked the permissions and my user is a member of the Project Collection Administrators and the Project Collection Administrators group has the 'Create new project' permission set to allow. The only thing I think it might be is that the user that I created during installation for the Sharepoint access and reports viewing does not have permission to write to the reports folder, however if I select "Do not configure a SharePoint site at this time" then I still get the error messages. I can't find the reports folder to check the permissions either. TFS is using an instance of SQL 2012 that was already on the machine when TFS was installed. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong please?

• Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter not working probperly - Code 31 on Host

  I have a Windows 8.1 machine with Hyper-V installed. From a "clean" Hyper-V configuration I open Virtual Switch Manager, create an External switch with "Allow management operating system to share this network adapter", click OK. Everything seems to work properly but the host loses network connectivity. Opening Device Manager, the "Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter" is shown under the Network Adapter section with a yellow triangle, and the following message: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) An object ID was not found in the file. I tried "Uninstalling" the device, seems to work, but the device doesn't actually remove. I tried removing and re-adding the Hyper-V feature completely, no difference. Tried scf /scannow, no problems. System and Application logs show no errors. The Hyper-V-VMMS Networking log shows the following: Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS-Networking Source: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS Date: 10/24/2013 10:53:07 AM Event ID: 26088 Description: Failed to apply static IP settings to internal Ethernet adapter {A813DE9A-BE70-4FAE-AD31-BE4D54505A4B} ('885435B8-BE65-4EE9-826D-AB56035237ED'): Unspecified error (0x80004005). Trying to remove the Virtual Switch leads to an error: Error applying Virtual Switch Properties changes Failed while removing virtual Ethernet switch. VM Networking does work.

When trying this using the IIS Management Console I always get an error: Value does not fall within the expected range. When trying to set the identity using appcmd.exe it fails on both the command setting the username and password or the command only setting the password. Setting the username is no problem. • Problem with Email Notifications in VisualSVN Server

  Hey guys! I have a dedicated server running windows 2003 server and Visual SVN Server 2.0.8. I'm trying to configure it to send email notifications on commit. So I found this article on Visual SVN site. It says I have to edit the Post-commit hook and set it to the following: "%VISUALSVN_SERVER%\bin\VisualSVNServerHooks.exe" ^ commit-notification "%1" -r %2 ^ --from <from-email> --to <to-email> ^ --smtp-server <smtp-server> Of course I've replaced the variables there. The problem is when someone commits something, the svn client throws the following error: post-commit hook failed (exit code 1) with no output. The commit process runs with no problems, I mean it does commit the files. But it won't send any email notification. If I remove the post-commit hook, then I don't get the error (and of course I don't get any notification). Could you help me out with it? The error doesn't tell too much =S Thank you!

• Problem with XLSX file on Office 2003 with Compatibility Pack

  I've this machine which has Office 2003 installed with Compatibility Pack. User received one file which she has to work with in XLSX format (file has to stay in that format so options to save it as XLS can be skipped). When she opens the file from Desktop or any other location it gives an error like "Cannot find the file in following location" and in the background it starts Converting XLSX file to XLS. In the end Excel is opened up with some random file name X000008.xls (Read Only) which is just 1 to 1 conversion of the XLSX document. However if I go directly to Excel and use File / Open and try to open the XLSX file no error or conversion is done. The file is writable and can be saved in XLSX format. The file name is simple like This_file something.XLSX, I've even tried to remove all spaces but it gave no better results. Anyone has any recommendations? So far I have done: 1. Uninstalled Compatibility Pack and installed it again. Tried opening it without any other updates and the error still pops out. In progress: I am now running all possible updates of office (like 5 of them) which i suppos won't fix anything (as they were applied when I've uninstalled compatibility pack). Next in run will be (not yet done) installing Windows XP SP3. What other things I can do?

  I'm running Plesk 8.6.0: I have an SSL cert installed through Plesk's admin interface. But I have a bit of an issue: When I enabled SSL for the site, and selected my cert, then restart httpd, Plesk defaults to using my self-signed default certificate. Conversely, when I disable SSL support for the domain, all of a sudden Plesk is using my new SSL certificate. Unfortunately, when I try to view any folder on the site (mydomain.tld/folder) I'm simply met with a 404 (with files placed both in httpdocs and httpsdocs). I switch SSL support back on, and Plesk defaults back to the default self-signed cert and I can then view the folders that were not previously accessible. Any ideas? One further note: I tried following http://kb.parallels.com/en/939 . Once I tried to restart httpd with the edited ssl.conf file, I received an httpd could not start error. I restored the original ssl.conf file, and still received the could not start error. So as of now, I am running without an ssl.conf file. • How to stop DW20.exe running on Win 2003 Server (usual solutions already tried)

  Periodically my ASP.NET application crashes (usually because memory consumption exceeds maximum allowed by application pool) and DW20.exe starts up. This is a big problem because it uses huge amounts of memory and CPU for minutes at a time. I want to know how to stop DW20.exe from running. Please note, I have already tried these often mentioned solutions: Disabling error reporting in Control Panel System Advanced Error Reporting Disabling the Error Reporting Service Modifying the registry as in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841477 (however I might have done this wrong - this doc says "add a DWReportee value of 1" - what I did was add a DWORD entry with hexadecimal value of 1 - is this right? Also only 2 of the 4 keys were present, so I only modified these, e.g. there was no HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\PCHealth key at all) So, zero points for suggesting any of the above (unless you can see I have modified the registry incorrectly) ! Also zero points for suggesting I resolve whatever is causing the application crashes :) - I am figuring this out, I just want something in the mean time to stop DW20.exe eating up all the server resources. By the way, this is a Windows 2003 SP1 server, with IIS 6 and SQL 2005 installed. There is no MS Office. Thx

• Moving from ColdFusion 8 to ColdFusion 10 - Migration Fails

  After having made several attempts to migrate from a ColdFusion 8 Standard server to a ColdFusion 10 Standard server, it feels like I am "almost" there. I'm using the 64 bit installer from Adobe's website. I'm using a Windows Server 2008 (64 bit) server with IIS 7.0. The installation itself goes smooth and the services start and are running. But at the end of the installation it says "ColdFusion Installed, but with errors" and it generates a log file. The log file reads: Migration Error: : Check that "C:\ColdFusion8" is a valid directory and is an installation of either ColdFusion MX 6 or ColdFusionMX 7 and further down says: Status: WARNING Additional Notes: WARNING - Could not migrate settings from previous version of ColdFusion Custom Action: com.macromedia.ia.action.MigrateColdFusionAction Status: ERROR Additional Notes: ERROR - class com.macromedia.ia.action.MigrateColdFusionAction NonfatalInstallException null The applicationHost.config file has new XML referencing the ColdFusion 10 directory, but IIS is still using ColdFusion 8. I'm also going to guess that the settings in the CF Administrator have not been migrated based on the message in the log above. I've followed the instructions on Adobe's site, including ensuring that ASP.NET, CGI, ISAPI Extensions, and ISAPI Filters are all enabled. I've also enabled IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility even though I don't think it's needed. Has anyone else had similar issues with ColdFusion 10 and IIS 7. • Can't access SQL Server 2008 from workstations, but can from server

  We have an app that can use mssql2k or 2k8. We've been using 2k but I decided to try 2k8 to compare. I installed in on our win2k3 server alongside mssql2k. In the ODBC applet on the server, I was able to set up access to 2k8, and it passes the test at the end successfully, whether I tell it to use Windows Authentication or an sql login. The latter is how the app always accessed mssql2k. The app works fine from the server, but when I try it on a workstation (winxpsp3), I get a window titled, "Microsoft SQL Server Login" that says: Connection failed: SQLState: '01000' SQL Server Error: 53 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect()). Connection failed: SQLState: '08001' SQL Server ERror: 17 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. Then I get the ODBC login dialog, which I can't get to login correctly (I just keep getting the same error above), even copying and pasting a password after resetting it on the server, and whether "trusted" is checked or not. "Options" is disabled. The server was straight SERVERNAME for mssql2k, but for mssql2k8 it's called SERVERNAME\mssql2008. That works on the server, why not on the workstation? (Which I'm logged in as the same person on, BTW.)

• Task Scheduler not running .bat or .vbs successfully

  Hi there, got this weird problem, which will hopefully have an obvious solution for some enlightened soul: We have several daily tasks we run via a .vbs script on our server (through the Task Scheduler), and for months it has been fine, but recently we've hit a problem. The .vbs script stopped successfully executing... but oddly it worked fine when ran manually! The error given in these circumstances was always "Timeout". We thought we try a little creative thinking, and run the .vbs another way: Via a .bat file. Again we hit weird issues, but with a little more debugging information, this time around. The .bat file is nothing more than... CScript "C:\location\script.vbs" > Log.txt But the Task Scheduler fails with the following error: 0x1: An incorrect function was called or an unknown function was called. The log.txt file says: CScript Error: Initialization of the Windows Script Host failed. (Not enough storage is available to process this command. ) But get this: The .bat file executes perfectly (vbs script and all) if it's executed with a double click! There's only a problem when it's run by Task Scheduler. What the hell? We're running Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) and yes, the Task Sheduler's results are the same whether the user is logged in or not. Also, the user that can run the scripts successfully manually, is also the same user that runs the scripts in Task Scheduler. Thanks for any help for this weird problem!
