I've been contemplating writing a simple "event log" that takes a paramater list and stores event messages in a log file, trouble is, I forsee this file growing to be rather large (assume 1M entries or more) the question is, how can I implement this system without pulling teeth, I know that SQL would be a possible way to go. XML would be ideal but not really practical for scaleability if i'm not going nuts.   • Microformat combination to use with events data on a map

    I have event data displaying on a map and I am currently using the geo microformat alongside it however it's not particularly rich to have just a list of locations without any details of what they correspond to. I've been looking at combining microformats to achieve this and looking for some thoughts on the subject here is the data i am marking up: event title, event location [latlong], event address, contact phone, link to full details My initial thoughts are to use an hCard along with geo?   • DatagridView Background does not refresh. Traces left behind.

    I have a DataGridView bound on a generic list, in .NET 3.5. When this grid is resized, there is a residual traces that is left behind on the background of the grid where there is no items. This only occurs where there is some columns that have the WrapMode attribute set to True. It seems that only the content that is wrapped is not refreshed on the background of the grid. Anybody have a workaround or a resolution for this problem?

Something like... files[] for file in urllib.listdir(dir): if file.isdir: # handle this as directory else: # handle as file I assume I would need to use the urllib library, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way of doing this, that I've seen at least.

    I've got a class called DatagridBoundList that implements CollectionBase and IBindingList. The implementation of IBindingList.ApplySort looks like this so far: void IBindingList.ApplySort(PropertyDescriptor property, ListSortDirection direction) { throw new NotSupportedException(); } I'm binding the DatagridBoundList to a DataGridView (winforms). When I reflect over the property parameter, I can't seem to find the name of the actual property that the list needs to be sorted by. What's the trick to finding out the name of the property to sort by?

I currently have a warning if the user enters something that is not valid (data validation) but I want to change the cell's background color to red if invalid or green if valid.     Is it possible to nest simple programs within a Google doc spreadsheet, similar to how you would w/Basic in Excel? Or alternatively a simple = syntax using regex, if there is a way to do that in google docs? I want to take a list of multiple names(name1, name2, name3) in a single cell from across multiple identical sheets and transpose them to another sheet within the same spreadsheet, check for duplicates and ignore capitals, etc. Is there a way to do this?
