  • 3D game engines for XNA games

    Before I start development of an XNA game, I need to choose a 3D game engine to develop upon. Is this belief unfounded? Does XNA have basic object transformation, lighting and mesh/texture importing functionality by which you can develop a decent 3D side-scrolling game? Chances are I'm going to need a 3D engine such as Torque X to handle most of the special effects, animation and sound for me. What are the engines that you recommend building an XNA game with? What work reliably in your experience? Is XNA alone enough? do you have repositories of code that work directly with XNA to create effects and other game environments with sunlight, fog and rain?

    I have a windows 7 machine with vmware and 2 monitors. The first one, with vmware on fullscreen, and the second one as the main screen with windows 7 with the browser and some applications, is there any way to toggle the screens configuration with a hotkey so it switches the main screen to the left and all applications accordingly (Vmware on full screen on the right monitor, and all applications on the left)

  • pykaraoke on xp pro

    i have dell laptops they all have xp-pro on them.what is happening is i have pykaraoke 7.1 on a disk and installed it on a couple of laptops and it works great.the other laptops say pykaraoke bad configeration,reinstall may fix this.i do that and i8t still doesnt work says the same thing.i even copyed the program from a working laptop and that didnt work.it doesnt make cence that it works on some but not the others.

    Hey I've just installed Windows Server 2003 Enterprise onto a newly built PC with this motherboard, but when I try to install the CDROM Support files it reports with an alert that says "Support files incompatible with WIN... blah blah" (Basically they seem to be only compatible with win7). Should I be installing Windows Server 2012 for these drivers? or are there drivers that are compatible with the Server 2003 Operating System?

    Hi, I found that under Ubuntu, WICD and command "/sbin/iwlist wlan0 scan" give a little different list of wireless networks. Windows 7 also gives a slightly different list. For example, there is one shown in WICD but not in the command nor in Windows 7. I wonder why? How to get a complete list of wireless networks? Thanks and regards!

    On windows server 2003 when one user connects to the server via RDP the default printer of the server for her profile does not change to the redirected printer of the session. This only happens with the one user all the other users default printers defaults to their session printer automatically. I tried the following solution but there was no \Terminal Server\Printer Redirection in gpedit.msc http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731963(v=ws.10).aspx Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services\Terminal Server\Printer Redirection Is there a different place to check the Printer Redirection?

    I am trying to reset — or rather, install — a boot loader on my hard drive. I initially had a Linux distro installed, which I completely wiped out. Now, when I try to install Windows 7 from my USB, my machine says Missing operating System And when I don't boot with USB, it says "bootmgr is missing" So now I am wondering, how I can install a boot loader, so I can install Windows 7?

This behavior can be disabled by creating the key ignoreShiftOverride with DWORD setting of 1 in the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon. I'd like to be able to configure this setting for each individual user. How can this be done?

  • Local service accounts

    Normally we create service accounts in Active Directory, and if we install things like SQL Server, etc, we set the software services we set them to use those service accounts. The service accounts don't have the ability to be used to log into a workstation interactively. For Proof of concepts, we're installing SQL Server and other software on Virtual windows 7 workstations that aren't part of a domain, so we are creating local accounts that will be used by windows services. Is it possible to stop those users from appearing as options on the login screen?

Is there any way I can get the CMD to act like the PuTTY console, flowing with the resize? NOTE: The answer doesn't have to be a tweak to the CMD. What other diagnostic tools could I use to more accurately detect hard drive failures? Could these Windows events be false positives? I have already evaluated S.M.A.R.T., and it seems to have significant sensitivity and specificity issues.

    I downloaded The Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit, i burned it from a cd and when I tried to install it i only and get a black screen and saying Peter Arvin et al could not find kermel image I thought there's a problem with the file so i downloaded it again and install it then i always get the same message. I tried also 32 bit and i always get the same error. I tried also installing it from a usb and i always get the same. So i just downloaded the WUBI and works so fine to my computer. I'm using Sony Vaio E Series with a 32 bit system and 500 GB hard Disk Drive.

I have looked high and low for a way to trigger the installation remotely on the servers during this time so that I don't have to log into a hundred or more servers and click on the "Install Updates Now" balloon.     I am trying to do some changes to my myApp.js file of coco2dx project for android in eclipse but I am not able to do it. I am actually trying to change the default background image of my app. But when I run my project all the changes goes back to before values For Eg: This is the default line wer we are setting our background image this.sprite = cc.Sprite.create("res/HelloWorld.png"); I am changing it to the following line: this.sprite = cc.Sprite.create("res/CloseNormal.png"); But when I run my project CloseNormal.png goes back to HelloWorld.png I am using: OS: Win7 Cocos2d Ver: cocos2dx 2.2.2 Why is this happening. Can anybody help me?

  • Grizzly server - works with IP, but not with domain name

    I'm hosting a grizzly web service on a Windows 7 Pro machine (embedded in a regular Java process), and it is binding to http://my-domain-name. When trying to hit the service from another machine, requests to http://my-domain-name fail (fiddler shows error code 502), but requests to http://my-ip work. When the service runs on a Windows Server 2008 machine, this doesn't happen (both requests succeed). What could be the issue?

  • How to give parallax backgrounds more depth

    I have 3 tiled images of some sort of galaxy/space in the background of a 2D Game: The first one has an alpha of 100%, the second an alpha of 80% and the last one has an alpha of 60%. I scroll the the one in the background slower than the other ones of course. classic parallax. In the foreground I have some particles flying towards the player to simulate some dust / stars flying by. (I know that stars don't fly by, but I think we all have seen this in a lot of games). But I can't quite achieve the depth effect I am looking for. I want it to look "deeper". I did read something about using blending modes for the backgrounds, but that would require to render them as objects right? So the question is: What is a good technique to do a scrolling parallax background in GameMaker?
