  At the moment I'm working through "Practical Common Lisp" from Peter Seibel. In the chapter "Practical: A Simple Database" (http://www.gigamonkeys.com/book/practical-a-simple-database.html) Seibel explains keyword parameters and the usage of a supplied-parameter with the following example: (defun foo (&key a (b 20) (c 30 c-p)) (list a b c c-p)) Results: (foo :a 1 :b 2 :c 3) ==> (1 2 3 T) (foo :c 3 :b 2 :a 1) ==> (1 2 3 T) (foo :a 1 :c 3) ==> (1 20 3 T) (foo) ==> (NIL 20 30 NIL) So if I use &key at the beginning of my parameter list, I have the possibility to use a list of 3 parameters name, default value and the third if the parameter as been supplied or not. Ok. But looking at the code in the above example: (list a b c c-p) How does the lisp interpreter know that c-p is my "supplied parameter"?

• Acer aspire 5735z wireless not working after upgrade to 11.10

  I cant get my wifi card to work at all after upgrading to 11.10 Oneiric. I'm not sure where to start to fix this. Ive tried using the additional drivers tool but this shows that no additional drivers are needed. Before my upgrade I had a drivers working for the Rt2860 chipset.   I'm currently working on building a RESTful web api with ruby on rails. I haven't bothered putting a proper authentication scheme into the API yet as I'm ensuring that tests and the basic behavior of the API is working all locally first. Upon testing non-HTTP GET type requests such as HTTP POST/DELETE/PUT, stuff chokes because protect_from_forgery is on by default. How does this work when I'm working in practice since essentially the idea is in a RESTful API that there is no state. The client does not have a session or a cookie associated with the server. Each request is an atomic, self-executed request. The user will supply some credentials to ensure they are who they say they are, but other than that, does protect_from_forgery make sense at this point? Should it remain enabled?

• How to control allowed HTML tags in WMD Editor?

  I am trying to some-how set the valid HTML tags and attributes users would be able to use in WMD Editor in my site. For example, I want to forbid the user to directly set the font size, color, typeface and so on, which is trivial to do with the default settings typing something like: <span style="font-size: 45px; color:#FF0000">Some intrusive text here</span>. I think the way to implement this is through the "wmd_options", but I have not found any documentation or reference regarding this, giving the fact that the 'Options demo' seems to be the only public documentation and it does not show how should I do what I have described above. I've send this same question to [email protected] but didn't get any reply. As stackoverflow uses this editor someone reading this or maybe Jeff knows the answer ;) Thanks in advance!

  I know the standard way of using the Null coalescing operator in C# is to set default values. string nobody = null; string somebody = "Bob Saget"; string anybody = ""; anybody = nobody ?? "Mr. T"; // returns Mr. T anybody = somebody ?? "Mr. T"; // returns "Bob Saget" But what else can ?? be used for? It doesn't seem as useful as the ternary operator, apart from being more concise and easier to read than: nobody = null; anybody = nobody == null ? "Bob Saget" : nobody; // returns Bob Saget So given that fewer even know about null coalescing operator... Have you used ?? for something else? Is ?? necessary, or should you just use the ternary operator (that most are familiar with)

In other words, without adding x:Class to the top of Generic.xaml and thus creating a code-behind file for it, which I assume you wouldn't want to do, how do you handle events for elements in your xaml that don't have a Command property (which is just about everything other than a Button)? Should LooklessControl have it's own XAML file (much like what you get when you create a new UserControl) associated with it that Generic.xaml just pulls in as a MergedDictionar as its default template? Or is there some other acknowledged way to do what I'm trying to do?

• displaying keyboard raises memory... but it never comes down iPhone

  Hello again. I encountered a weird behavior in memory just by displaying the default keyboard. I've just created a project with an .xib file for testing purposes. This .xib file has an UITextField element in it and it's connected in the .h via: @property(nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITextField *sometext; The .m has no changes but: - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [someText becomeFirstResponder]; } As you see it's very very simple. The problem is that once the keyboard is shown, the memory allocated for it NEVER goes down. I've tested this scenario in another project with the only difference of having two .xib files. Standar pushViewController and popViewController calls are made. Instruments show an increase of 600kb in memory allocations [which are a lot more in the actual iPhone device]. All in all, hehehe. My question is: How do I release the memory allocated for the keyboard?.

• How do you get the footer to stay at the bottom of a Web page?

  I have a simple 2-column layout with a footer that clears both the right and left div in my markup. My problem is that I can't get the footer to stay at the bottom of the page in all browsers. It works if the content pushes the footer down, but that's not always the case. Update: It's not working properly in Firefox. I'm seeing a strip of background color below the footer when there's not enough content on the page to push the footer all the way down to the bottom of the browser window. Unfortunately, this is the default state of the page.

  I have taken a fresh install of Eclipse and all the latest Android tools and want to use Proguard on existing project, but for now I have created a new blank one. I have added a proguard.cfg file to my project added proguard.config=proguard.cfg to my default.properties Now when I try to export I get the following error [2010-12-12 10:36:35 - ApplicationTest] Proguard returned with error code 1. See console [2010-12-12 10:36:35 - ApplicationTest] 'C:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command, [2010-12-12 10:36:35 - ApplicationTest] operable program or batch file. [2010-12-12 10:36:35 - ApplicationTest] '-jar' is not recognized as an internal or external command, [2010-12-12 10:36:35 - ApplicationTest] operable program or batch file. I know it means there is a filepath setup incorrectly, question is where the heck is as I have looked through the general properties and project properties and can't see any reference to proguard or obfuscation so am stuck on what to change Any help appreciated.

• Translate ImageButton from C# to XAML

  I worked out the C# code to create an ImageButton (below) that has three images (one base-image and two overlays) and three text boxes as the face of the button. I am inheriting from the Button class, which unfortunately includes several components that I didn't realize would surface until after coding and need to remove, namely the bright-blue surrounding border on IsMouseOver, and any visible borders between the buttons, as the buttons will end up in a wrapPanel and the borders need to be seamless. Now that the format has been worked out in C#, I expect that I need to translate to XAML so that I can create a ControlTemplate to get the functionality necessary, however I am not certain as to the process of translating from C# to XAML.   I am using dojo datagrid to display my data. When the end user edit the cell values it should be updated in the server using ajax calls(when the focus goes out of the cell). Else, I should have a Edit & update/cancel buttons for each row to handle the same feature. But I don know how to place edit & update buttons inside the grid and capture their events. By default dojo updates only local the store value(client side). how can I save the updated cell values into the server? do we need to write any override methods to do so?? I am new to dojo.   Given the following database structure I'm trying to write a LINQ query that will return images grouped by tags it's associated with. However, I also want to return Images that do not have any tags associated with them in a group of "(Untagged)" or something. I can't wrap my head around how I would do this without inserting a default tag for every image and that seems like generally not a very good solution.

• an enter key are handled twice in WPF/Winform mixed project

  I have a winform dashboard which hosts some WPF dialogs. When I select a row in the winform ListView and hit Enter key, OnItemActivate is called which launches a WPF dialog. However, the WPF dialog appears and then disappears immediately because the default button “cancel” is hit. It seems that the Enter key is triggered twice, one for launching the WPF dialog, the other for hitting cancel button. We don’t want the WPF dialog to be canceled by the Enter key hitting. According to the stack trace, it looks like that WPF and Winform handle the enter key separately. The WPF does not know that the enter key has been handled by the Winform ListView. Is this by design in Winform and WPF interop? To make the enter key not close the WPF dialog, we have to change the focus from the cancel button to another control (e.g. a textblock). Is there a better way to fix/around this issue?

  Running Visual Studio 2008 Professional it is possible to enable static code analysis using the /analyze flag (even though this is not supported for the Professional version according to the documentation). In Visual Studio 2010 Professional this no longer works. Instead there is a default /analyze- flag added (one I can't find a GUI setting for). This does not work as well as the VS2008 version (or at all). Can anyone shed some light into this? What does the new /analyze- flag do and is there any way to enable the old analysis?

  My views extend a base view class ive made: public class BaseView : ViewPage At the moment im calling ObjectFactory.GetInstance inside this class' constructor to get some interface implementations but id like to use structuremap to inject them as constructor arguments. Im using a structuremapcontrollerfactory to create my controllers, but how can i do the same for views? I know i can implement a custom ViewEngine, but using reflector to look at the mvc default viewengine and its dependencies, it seems to go on and on and i'd rather not have to re-implement stuff thats already there. Has anyone got a cunning idea how to solve this? I know i could make things easier with setter instead of constructor injection but id rather avoid that if possible.

• How to i disable the _moz_resizing?

  I am using nicEdit editor and i have added my own custom image resizing script to it. But i want to disable the default _moz_resizing that appears in firefox. I wanted to have finer control over the image being resized. ( Eg: Allow only the image to resize and inherit the width of the parent container. ) So i wrote a custom script. But since firefox has its own image resizing control (_moz_resizing) how do i disable it? If there is no way to do so, i have a very simple workaround where i browser detect firefox and turn off my custom script and use the _moz_resizing instead. But i won't have fine grained control and will have to rely on there being now browser bugs in firefox. :(

  Hi, We're experiencing a strange problem with Oracle RAC and McAfee anti-virus. As part of the installation of the Oracle RAC we disable anti virus as directed. We have had our RAC running fine, but when we came to re-enable the AV and reboot we got the BSOD. Abnormal Program Termination (BugCheck, STOP: 0x00000035 (0x8E984678, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000 NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS Following the standard process of raising this problem with Microsoft they identify the problem and also a fix. Microsoft talk about too many file filter drivers being present and pushing the DFS upper limit beyond the default size. Upping this value, as per msdn, has no impact. We're able to recover from this BSOD by disabling AV. We don't have the problem if we run the AV service manually whilst the system is up. However, if we make the service automatic we fail to boot.
