• Building a Java EE app on Mac OS X Snow Leopard for Glassfish 3

  I'm having a bit of a problem building a Java Enterprise Edition web application on Mac OS X 10.6.2 using Ant 1.7.1, Glassfish v3 and Java EE 6. The problem is that the build process does not find the Java EE libraries which fair enough as I don't think Apple supply them with the default Java installation but I know they exist in the Glassfish distribution. Which jars are the correct ones to build against (I'm assuming javaee.jar is a general jar which references all the other needed jars) and what should I be putting in my ant build.xml file? Any help is very much appreciated.

• Acer aspire 5735z wireless not working after upgrade to 11.10

  I cant get my wifi card to work at all after upgrading to 11.10 Oneiric. I'm not sure where to start to fix this. Ive tried using the additional drivers tool but this shows that no additional drivers are needed. Before my upgrade I had a drivers working for the Rt2860 chipset.   Hey guys, I've a small question on ASP.NET MVC 2. I'm using Data Annotations on my Presentation Model and its model binder per default. But one step back, I want to do the most elementary thing: validation of the data type. Let's say I have an "int ID" on my model and want to edit the according entity in my view. If I enter something wrong like "foo", then I get a model error back, but the validation message is on English. I want to have this message in other languages, too. How can I do this? I remember that in MVC 1 I've written a custom model binder which checks the data types, but that's not what I want to do (at least not in MVC 2). Thus I hope there is a better way...   When I am working on a PHP file for example the default filetype is php. This makes sense, however when that PHP file has HTML as well the filetype is still only php. For some plugins that means that I get the PHP functionality for that plugin, but miss out on the HTML functionality. A more specific situation where this happens is with my snippet plugin. I get php snippets and not html snippets when I am editing a php file. Possible solutions to this (which I obviously don't like, hence my posting this question) are: add a map to toggle between different filetypes when I am editing different sections of the file. update my php snippets file to include the html snippets as well (while this would work for the example above, it doesn't solve the fundamental problem). So, Is there a way to edit a file using multiple filetypes at the same time in vim?

• Connect rails application to MsSQL 2005 from Windows

  Hi guys. I (sadly) have to deploy a rails application on Windows XP which has to connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Surfing in the web there are a lot of hits for connect from Linux to MsSQL, but cannot find out how to do it from Windows. Basically I followed these steps: Install dbi gem Install activerecord-sql-server-adapter gem My database.yml now looks like this: development: adapter: sqlserver mode: odbc dsn: test_dj host: HOSTNAME\SQLEXPRESS database: test_dj username: guest password: guest But I'm unable to connect it. When I run rake db:migrate I get IM002 (0) [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified I'm not a Windows user, so cannot understand really well the meaning of dsn element or so. Does someone have an idea how to solve this? Thanks in advance

  Although the situation of conversion from Doubles to BigDecimals has improved a bit compared to Java scala> new java.math.BigDecimal(0.2) res0: java.math.BigDecimal = 0.20000000000000001110223024625156... scala> BigDecimal(0.2) res1: scala.math.BigDecimal = 0.2 and things like val numbers: List[BigDecimal] = List(1.2, 3.2, 0.7, 0.8, 1.1) work really well, wouldn't it be reasonable to have an implicit conversion like implicit def String2BigDecimal(s: String) = BigDecimal(s) available by default which can convert Strings to BigDecimals like this? val numbers: List[BigDecimal] = List("1.2", "3.2", "0.7", "0.8", "1.1") Or am I missing something and Scala resolved all "problems" of Java with using the BigDecimal constructor with a floating point value instead of a String, and BigDecimal(String) is basically not needed anymore in Scala?

Trying to add an "event" to a list of events, represented by a one to many (inverse) relationship: MyEvents <--- Event This is the code: MyEvents *myEvents = (MyEvents *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"MyEvents" inManagedObjectContext:context]; NSLog(@"MYEVENTS: %@", myEvents); NSLog(@"EVENT: %@", event); [myEvents addEventObject:event]; My context is fine, and both the myEvents and event print perfectly valid information. When I try to add the event that I have (which is passed into this view controller, having been retrieved from core data previously) with this code [myEvents addEventObject:event]; It falls over with *** -[NSComparisonPredicate evaluateWithObject:]: message sent to deallocated instance MyEvents and Event are just the default generated code. MyEvents contains only the relationship to event. Thanks.

• SAXException: Unexpected end of file after null

  I'm getting the error in the title occasionally from a process the parses lots of XML files. The files themselves seem OK, and running the process again on the same files that generated the error works just fine. The exception occurs on a call to XMLReader.parse(InputStream is) Could this be a bug in the parser (I use piccolo)? Or is it something about how I open the file stream? No multithreading is involved. Piccolo seemed like a good idea at the time, but I don't really have a good excuse for using it. I will to try to switch to the default SAX parser and see if that helps. Update: It didn't help, and I found that Piccolo is considerably faster for some of the workloads, so I went back.

The scenario is like this, I have a list view with items, I want to place the icon to the listview when the item is selected. The selection I mean is, first time when I click item should be selected, next time if I click the same item then it should be selected. Please note It is not the double click. So is there any feature which handles this feature by default, any property or flag which I need to set to listview to behave like this or manual implementation Is required for this.

• Search Netflix using API without the user being logged in?

  I'm trying to search Netflix through their API, but without logging anyone in (because I want to do this on the back-end, not necessarily related to any user action). I'm just starting off with their API so please forgive me if I'm doing something completely stupid. Here's the URL I'm trying to access: http://api.netflix.com/catalog/titles/?oauth_consumer_key=MY_CONSUMER_KEY&oauth_token_secret=MY_SECRET&term=fight+club However, that gives me a 400 Bad Request error. Is there no way to browse/search the Netflix catalog without having a user first sign in to my application? Or am I doing something wrong? Note: I'm accessing said URL through my browser, since I only want to perform a GET request, which is what a browser does by default.

• What's a good bit of JS or JQuery for horizontally scrolling news ticker

  Hi, I am looking for a little bit of JQuery or JS that allows me to produce a horizontally scrolling "news ticker" list. The produced HTML needs to be standards compliant as well. I have tried liScroll but this has a habit of breaking (some content ends up on a second line at the start of the scroll), especially with longer lists. I have also tried this News Ticker but when a DOCTYPE is included the scrolling will jolt rather than cycle smoothly at the end of each cycle. Any suggestions are appreciated. Edit So thanks to Matt Hinze's suggestion I realised I could do what I wanted to do with JQuery animate (I require continuous scrolling not discrete scrolling like the example). However, I quickly ran into similar problems to those I was having with liScroll and after all that realised a CSS issue (as always) was responsible. Solution: liScroll - change the default 'var stripWidth = 0' to something like 100, to give a little space and avoid new line wrapping.
