• Clean URLs for static HTML files with .htaccess and mod_rewrite

  Hello. mod_rewrite always baffles me... can anyone tell me the rules I need to get the following clean URLs? Desired URL on the left, real URL on the right. /our-work/ => /our-work.html /our-work/some-project/ => /our-work/some-project.html /contact/ => /contact.html As you can see, I want to force trailing slashes on all URLs too.   Hello, Do I need to do something different in an abstract class to get dependency injection working with Ninject? I have a base controller with the following code: public abstract class BaseController : Controller { public IAccountRepository AccountRepository { get; set; } } My module looks like this: public class WebDependencyModule : NinjectModule { public override void Load() { Bind<IAccountRepository>().To<AccountRepository>(); } } And this is my Global.asax: protected override void OnApplicationStarted() { Kernel.Load(new WebDependencyModule()); } protected override IKernel CreateKernel() { return new StandardKernel(); } It works when I decorate the IAccountRepository property with the [Inject] attribute. • How to prevent a dll from being loaded in other apps

  Hello, currently I develop a C#.Net application in which I'm using a custom control I developed some time ago. I need the dll to be shipped within the new application - but understandably I do not want the dll file to be used for foreign apps. That's why I need the custom dll to be somehow compiled within the new application. Currently the dll is copied into the application directory. Any ideas? Should be trivial imho. • How do I make a view that groups nodes by taxonomy term?

  Hello, I'm trying to bend views and drupal to my will. So far I've produced a view to display the titles of my nodes. Each node will be assigned exactly one taxonomy term from the set {X, Y and Z}. So for example, Node A has a title "Car drives into field, thousands don't care". Node A has a taxonomy term "Pointless". I'd like to group all the node titles by their taxonomy term. So.. Pointless - Car drives into field, thousands don't care - .... Next Taxonomy Term - ..... - ...... - ... You get the idea. Is it doable and how do I do it? I can't find the group by option in views. cheers SO.

  Hello, I've been playing around with Active Record a bit, and I have noticed that A.C./ORM always uses the following database model when creating a one-to-one relationship Person id | country_id | name | ... Country id | tld | name | ... No I wondered, isn't this a violiation of the third Normal Form? This clearly states "Every non-prime attribute is non-transitively dependent on every key of the table". Well this country_id isn't dependent of personid is it? So is this wrong or am I just not getting the point?

  Hello, I'm currently working on an application where I need to load data from an SQL database and then assign the retrieved values into the properties of an object. I'm doing this by using reflection since the property names and column names are the same. However, many of the properties are using a custom struct type that is basically a currency wrapper for the decimal type. I have defined an implicit conversion in my struct: public static implicit operator Currency(decimal d) { return new Currency(d); } This works fine when I use it in code. However, when I have this: foreach (PropertyInfo p in props) { p.SetValue(this, table.Rows[0][p.Name], null); } It throws an ArgumentException stating that it cannot convert from System.Decimal to Currency. I'm confused since it works fine in any other circumstance.

• How to make an ISO copy of Linux-filesystem and user files of VPS Debian based?

  Hello! I have a Debian-Based VPS on some hosting. I want to migrate from it and i need to make a full copy of all Linux-filesystem (and installed packages) + all home directory with website files. And then pack/convert it to ISO image so that to use it on cloud hostings like Amazon. The problem is that i have only ssh root access. Hosting support can't do that for me. Another part of the question - is it possible to enlarge the Linux-filesystem by not re-installing it and using the free space of home directory? Is it possible to do? I guess it is possible with rsync or something like that. Will my Mysql databes copy together with all other data? Thanks in advance!

• Evaluating Django Chained QuerySets Locally

  Hello All: I am hoping someone can help me out with a quick question I have regarding chaining Django querysets. I am noticing a slow down because I am evaluating many data points in the database to create data trends. I was wondering if there was a way to have the chained filters evaluated locally instead of hitting the database. Here is a (crude) example: pastries = Bakery.objects.filter(productType='pastry') # <--- will obviously always hit DB, when evaluated cannoli = pastries.filter(specificType='cannoli') # <--- can this be evaluated locally instead of hitting the DB when evaluated, as long as pastries was evaluated? I have checked the docs and I do not see anything specifying this, so I guess it's not possible, but I wanted to check with the 'braintrust' first ;-). BTW - I know that I can do this myself by implementing some methods to loop through these datapoints and evaluate the criteria, but there are so many datapoints that my deadline does not permit me manually implementing this. • Need help in understanding the mapping of user-space send, sendto, sendmsg to kernel-space sendmsg

  Hello, I am trying to implement my own transport layer protocol in Linux for an experiment. I am going to use socket interface and add my protocol using sock_register. For the proto_ops i can see that the parameters for the sendmsg and recvmsg are (struct kiocb *iocb, struct socket *sock, struct msghdr *msg, size_t len, int flags). But there are three types of user api's send, sendto, sendmsg. Of these three only sendmsg contains a parameter for msghdr. I find that the other two api's are incompatible with the parameters supplied by the kernel to my kernel-space sendmsg function. So what happens when we use send and sendto user-space api's? I would create the class car. Every car has his own color, position and so on. And I could create the road with an array. But how to tell the car where to go? Could I hear your ideas? But i want the id of the tabs be in the url. i.e when tab 2 is clicked, the URL should change to http://example.com/index.htm#tab-2 when tab 1 is clicked, the URL should change to http://example.com/index.htm#tab-1 How to do this ?

• LINQ-to-SQL and SQL Compact - database file sharing problem

I'm learing LINQ-to-SQL right now and i have wrote a simple application that define SQL data: [Table( Name = "items" )] public class Item { [ Column( IsPrimaryKey = true, IsDbGenerated = true ) ] public int Id; [ Column ] public string Name; } I have launched 2 copy of application connected to the same .sdf file and tested if all database modifications in one application affects another application. But strange thing arise. If i use InsertOnSubmit() and DeleteOnSubmit() in one application, added/removed items are instantly visible in other application via 'select' LINQ queue. But if i try to modify 'Name' field in one application, it is NOT visible in other applicaton until it reconnects the database :(. The test code i use: var Items = from c in db.Items where Id == c.Id select c; foreach( var Item in Items ) { Item.Name = "new name"; break; } db.SubmitChanges(); Can anyone suggest what i'm doing wrong and why InsertOnSubmit()/DeleteOnSubmit works and SubmitChanges() don't?

  Hello, We are at a stage where we are considering different Web UI frameworks (most likely component based ones such as GWT, JSF, Wicket, Vaadin, etc). One of the main use cases / constraints is that it must support generating dynamic pages. I.e., the page/form layout and components is stored in a database and is changeable at runtime, and from this pages are generated. We are also going to write static layouts, but that is not the main focus of this question. I thought maybe the user community here can share experiences of different frameworks in this context. Are there differences in ease of implementation and what is suitable?

  Hello everybody, I'm encountering a huge problem, I have tried everything I could, but I didn't find any solution. I have a listBox, with a DataTemplate. I want to use the events MouseLeftButtonDown and MouseLeftButtonUp to check the item selected is the same the user clicked on. The problem is the event MouseLeftButtonUp is recognized but not the event MouseLeftButtonDown.   Hello, In my SO profile, i tried to do Edit profile and there in "About Me" text box, i tried to paste a HTML code as below provided by linkedin.com to display a button which would link to my profile on linkedin. But it does not seem to work on SO.   Hello! For one of my projects, I need to create a function that will return a handle to a window when the user click on it (any window displayed on screen, and anywhere inside that window). I know it is possible to use a global hook, but I think there must be a more simple way of doing that, without using any DLL injection. In fact, I could intercept the left mouse click or intercept when a window is activated. Can I use one of those 2 solutions without any DLL injection?

• SQL Server 2005 Fail: Return Dates As Strings

  Hello all, I am using the SQL Server PHP Driver, I think this question can be answered without knowing what this is. I have come across this many times, what does it mean by NAMES? Column names?: SET NAMES utf8 Is there a query similar to the above that will get my dates to be returned as a string? For some reason on my SQL Sever 2008 on Vista, this works: $connectionInfo = array('Database' => $dbname, 'ReturnDatesAsStrings' => true) But the above 'ReturnDatesAsStrings' does not work on my SQL Server 2005 on a windows server machine? I can't execute any queries after setting the above! Does SQL Server 2005 support ReturnDatesAsStrings? Is there some other parameter I can pass to do the same? Thanks all for any help EDIT I should of mentioned this but if there is a solution I am hoping for one that is in the form of a setting that can be set before any queries can be executed as I do not have control on what queries will be executed.

  Hello SO, I want to be able to develop code using Visual Studio 2010. I just got VS2010 and I'm not able to get the languages I want on it. The main reason that I'm asking this is that I'm trying to migrate to ONE IDE that does it all for me. Thus far eclipse has been doing a good job, but I've been informed that VS2010 is better and I'm trying to get into the groove of that standard So my question is two-fold. I am not able to find a complete list of languages supported by VS2010. What are these languages? How can I get VS2010 support for: a. Python/IronPython b. C/C++/C#/XNA c. Java My Googling has given me no promising/definitive results. I'd really appreciate any help.

  Hello guys..My site url is : Da Factopedia It opens up perfectly in all browsers Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome. Even in IE 8 the Home page is perfectly displayed . It starts floating within the main post area and I have no clue why this happens. • SQL Server 2008 - cannot register default instance MSSQLSERVER

  Hello, I have installed SQL Server 2008 Developer on Windows 7 64 bit. In Management Studio I cannot register the default instance MSSQLSERVER, it cannot find it although the service is running. I get the message: Cannot connect to PHOENIX\MSSQLSERVER. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 25 - Connection string is not valid) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 87) However Management Studio does show the SQL Server 2005 Express instance (that was installed with VS 2008 Pro) which appeared as already registered. I an using Windows Authentication as I installed it in mixed mode. Any ideas would be appreciated, many thanks paul
