  • C# Resources - How to find actual language file in use?

    - by Chris Meek
I have a number resx files as follows, Resources-es-ES.resx Resources-es.resx Resources.resx (english defaults) They are compiled into an assembly and I use them for localising my web pages by simply referring to Resources.Ok for example. My question is whether there is a way to find out the "rendered culture", e.g. if I come into the site with my CurrentUICulture set to "fr-fr" for example it will fall back to using the English resources and I'm wondering how to get that information to help me with some JavaScript localisation.

  • Can one edit an InstallShield setup.exe's manifest file?

    - by DNS
I'm running into the Windows Vista/7 Program Compatibility Assistant problem described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1069135/this-program-might-not-have-installed-correctly-message-in-windows-7-rc The solution (backed-up by similar questions elsewhere, and MSDN), is apparently to add a 'compatibility' section to setup.exe's manifest. InstallShield 10 SP1 does this automatically, but unfortunately I only have InstallShield 2009. How would I go about editing the manifest? Is there a way to do this programmatically, so I can integrate it into my build?

  • Oracle Linux Hands-on Lab from your Home? Yes You Can Do That!

    - by Zeynep Koch
We're taking the very popular OTN Sysadmin Days and going virtual! We have two days to choose from: Americas - Tuesday January 15th, 2013 9:00 a.m – 1:00 p.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. ET / 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. BRT EMEA -  Tuesday January 29th, 2013 - 9:00 a.m – 13:00 p.m GMT / 10:00 a.m – 14:00 p,m CET / 12:00 p.m – 16:00 p.m AST / 13:00 p.m – 17:00 p,m MSK / 14:30 p.m – 18:30 p.m IST You'll be able to perform real-world tasks with Oracle Linux and if you have questions you can ask for help from the Oracle experts through chat window. There's one caveat: you'll have to do a little homework ahead of time. Load the virtual images onto your laptop, find the instructions, and make sure everything is working properly. This wiki https://wikis.oracle.com/display/virtualsysadminday/Home explains what you need to do. If you have questions, ask them as comments to the wiki:https://wikis.oracle.com/display/virtualsysadminday/Home.  Oracle Linux Track  1. Oracle Linux Technology Overview - In this session we will go over the latest Oracle Linux features including tools for Linux administration such as the Unbreakable Linux Network (ULN) and public yum. We will also show you a demo of Ksplice zero downtime kernel updates, only available to Oracle Linux customers. You will see how easy it is to switch from Red Hat support to Oracle Linux support by using ULN. Last but not least, we’ll introduce the 3 hands-on labs that will follow this session in the Linux track. 2. HOL: Package Management -  In this lab session you will use the package management on Oracle Linux using RPM and yum. Some of the tasks that you will experience include listing installed packages, obtaining additional information about packages, searching for packages and installing/updating them as well as verifying package integrity and removing software. We’ll also review Linux services and run levels, how to start and stop them, checking the status of a particular service and enabling a service to be started automatically at system boot. 3. HOL: Storage Management - In this hands-on lab session, you will learn about storage management with LVM2, the Linux Logical Volume Manager, preparing block devices, creating physical and logical volumes, creating file systems on top of logical volumes, and resizing file systems dynamically. You will also practice setting up software RAID devices, configuring encrypted block devices.Btrfs File System - In this hands-on lab session, we will introduce you to Btrfs file system. You will be able to create and mount a Btrfs file system and learn to setup a mirrored/striped file system across multiple block devices. You’ll also learn how to add and remove block devices, and create file system snapshots. Register for this FREE event.

  • Brain Teaser: How Did I Do This (Part 1: The Solution)

    - by Geertjan
In Part 1: The Challenge, published this time last week, I introduced a "brain teaser". The brain teaser asks you to figure out how to allow images and other files to be meaningfully dropped onto a NetBeans Platform application, i.e., on the drop something useful should happen with the dropped file: if the file is an image, the image should open in the IDE; if the file is a PDF document, the PDF viewer should open externally; if the file is a text file, it should open as a text in the IDE, etc. Solution. And here is the solution: http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/javadoc/org-openide-windows/org/openide/windows/ExternalDropHandler.html When an implementation of the "ExternalDropHandler" class is available in the global Lookup, and an object is being dragged over some part of the main window, the window system may call the methods of this class to decide whether it can accept or reject the drag operation. And when the object is actually dropped, this class will be asked to handle the drop. OK, so go ahead and implement the above class and put it into the Lookup. Or... guess what? The NetBeans Platform has a default implementation of the above class, appropriately named "DefaultExternalDropHandler". Not only is this useful to learn about how to implement the ExternalDropHandler class (i.e., by reading the source here): you can simply include the module that contains this class in your own NetBeans Platform application and then your application will be able to receive external drag/drop events and do something meaningful with them thanks to the DefaultExternalDropHandler. Do this: Open your NetBeans Platform application in NetBeans IDE. Right-click the application in the Projects window and choose Properties. In the Libraries tab, expand the "ide" cluster, and select "User Utilities". (That's where "DefaultExternalDropHandler.java" is found and registered in the Lookup.) Now click the "Resolve" button, if it appears, because some additional related modules need to now be included, if they haven't been included yet. Again in the "ide" cluster in the Libraries tab, select "Image". That's the Image Editor. Click OK. Run the application. Drag an image or some other type of file into your application, from outside the application, and you'll see the application tries to handle the drop. If the file being dragged is an image, it will open in the Image Editor, which you included in the previous step of these instructions. Hurray, you're done. Without any programming at all, you've added a cool new feature to your application.

  • how to unpack the contents of a javascript file?

    - by altvali
Hi all! You know how those packed js files look like, right? eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){ ... } ('obfuscated-string'.split('|'),0,{})) It just so happens to be that i have to tweak some large legacy code that looks like that and i want to find a way to turn this into a more readable version. If that's not possible, can i at least get rid of the eval?

  • python popen and mysql import

    - by khelll
I'm doing the following: from subprocess import PIPE from subprocess import Popen file = 'dump.sql.gz' p1 = Popen(["gzip", "-cd" ,file], stdout=PIPE) print "Importing temporary file %s" % file p2 = Popen(["mysql","--default-character-set=utf8", "--user=root" , "--password=something", "--host=localhost", "--port=3306" , 'my_db'],stdin=p1.stdout, stdout=PIPE,stderr=PIPE) err = p1.communicate()[1] if err: print err err = p2.communicate()[1] if err: print err But the db is not being populated. No errors are shown, also I have checked p1.stdout and it has the file contents. Any ideas?

  • How do you access the Source Error, Source File and Line Number of an exception to use in a custom e

    - by Iain Fraser
Basically I want to take the following: And make it match the styling of the rest of the application. I am creating a custom error page in my C# based project and I want it to be able to show the same information that is displayed in the ASP.NET default error page. From fiddling with reflector I can see that this is generated through HttpException.GetHtmlErrorMessage() but when I try to use this in my exception it returns null.

  • Can I view a list of public variables of some Adobe Air app or web flash file from another app?

    - by Parris
I was thinking about creating making AIM pluggin that checks pandora one (desktop) or pandora website periodically to see what is currently playing and update a user's status. I suppose the main question is there a clever way to access a "public" variable from some open Adobe Air process? I KNOW this sounds like some crazy security flaw, but it may also be a feature. I am pretty sure javascript can potentially handle it. Thanks!

  • PHP: $_POST array to XML file and display results.

    - by user633264
I'm creating a "Madlibs" page where visitors can create funny story things online. The original files are in XML format with the blanks enclosed in XML tags (Such as blablabla <PluralNoun></PluralNoun> blablabla <Verb></Verb> ). The form data is created using XSL and the results are saved using a $_POST array. How do I post the $_POST array between the matching XML tags and then display the result to the page? I'm sure it uses a "foreach" statement, but I'm just not familiar enough with PHP to figure out what functions to use. Any help would be great. Thanks, E

  • Sometimes, scaling down a bitmap generates a bigger file. Why?

    - by Matías
    Hello, I'm trying to write a method to reduce the size of any image 50% each time is called but I've found a problem. Sometimes, I end up with a bigger filesize while the image is really just half of what it was. I'm taking care of DPI and PixelFormat. What else am I missing? Thank you for your time. public Bitmap ResizeBitmap(Bitmap origBitmap, int nWidth, int nHeight) { Bitmap newBitmap = new Bitmap(nWidth, nHeight, origBitmap.PixelFormat); newBitmap.SetResolution(origBitmap.HorizontalResolution, origBitmap.VerticalResolution); using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage((Image)newBitmap)) { g.InterpolationMode = InterpolationMode.HighQualityBicubic; g.DrawImage(origBitmap, 0, 0, nWidth, nHeight); } return newBitmap; }
