The first example that comes to mind, working as a sysadmin, is email accounts and their domains: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] ... What URL scheme would you suggest? At first I'd try: /domain/[domainname] /domain/[domainname]/account/[accountname] is that in line with RESTful principles? or should I go with something like: /domain/[domainname] /account/[account@domainname]/ or anything else?

• Python's subprocess.Popen object hangs gathering child output when child process does not exit

  When a process exits abnormally or not at all, I still want to be able to gather what output it may have generated up until that point. After the first code line the variable contains the value "(null)", because the user who picked the contact from his iphone address book doesn't set the country key for this contact, so far so good. but if I check the variable, it won't be true, but the value is certainly "(null)"... does someone have an idea?   Hello, I am working on a horizontal CSS dropdown menu. It is still working nearly fine for IE 7, IE 8 , Firefox and Chrome. But I want to make the top <ul> to be on top level (e.g. z-index: 100). I want this because the top level <ul> has a graphical background and the dropdown is just styled with css and in the current way it is destroying the layout. • Installing sSMTP from SSH

  I'm on a Web Hosting Buzz reseller account. They have some very stringent mail sending rules, including blocking of authenticated SMTP socket mail sending using PEAR. It was suggested in WHB forum that this was possible with sSMTP. I've since gotten SSH access and googled how to install sSMTP from SSH: rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm yum install ssmtp However, the first line fails with: Retrieving http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm error: skipping http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm - transfer failed - Unknown or unexpected error It was a very old thread in WHB forum and the thread poster could not be reached for assistance. Any help would be much appreciated!

HERE, though, when I do [loginController release], every IBAction on that loginController gets called against a deallocated instance. Commenting out that line makes everything work. I note the difference in approach between my loginController and the navigationController that came with the template; the navigationController is a synthesized property that gets released in -(void)dealloc{ }, so it's still around after being put into window.

• Change color of text within a WinForms RichTextBox

  I have a RichTextBox that I write a string to every time I click a Form button. The string ends with a newline so each time I add a string, it appends to the bottom of the RichTextBox. Each string begins with the string "Long" or "Short" and ends with Environment.NewLine. I'd like to color each line red if it beings with "Long" and blue if it begins with "Short". How can I do this? • SQL 2008 Database tuning advisor won't start

  For some reason I can't get DTA to connect to my development machine. It connects to a remote DB just fine but when I point it to my dev machine I get an error saying: Failed to initialize MSDB database for tuning (exit code: -1073741819). I'm pretty sure it's not a permissions issue since I've used profiler to capture what it's doing and all of the commands it's run so far look fine and are being run under my account which is associated with the sysadmin role, when I run them in sql management studio they go through fine. I'm pretty convinced that the problem is related to creating the objects in MSDB that are used by DTA but I tried creating these manually (I found scripts on the web) and it just seems to push the problem along the line slightly. I'm going out of my mind - have even tried reinstalling SQL but that's not fixed it. I'm using SQL 2008 with SP1 (10.0.2531) on windows server 2008 (patched up to date). SAVE ME!!!!!

  Hello, I am trying to use pexpect to ssh into a computer but I do not want to return back to the original computer. • Faster bulk inserts in sqlite3?

  I have a file of about 30000 lines of data I want to load into a sqlite3 database. Is there a faster way that generating insert statements for each line of data? The data is space delimited and maps directly to the sqlite3 table. Is there any sort of bulk insert method for adding volume data to a database? Has anyone devised some deviously wonderful way of doing this if it's not built in? I should preface this by asking is there a c++ way to do it from the API? Thanks.

• Powershell 2.0 Hang When Run From MsDeploy pre- post- ops using c/

  I am trying to invoke powershell during the preSync call in a MSDeploy command, but powershell does not exit the process after it has been called. The command (from command line): "tools/MSDeploy/msdeploy.exe" -verb:sync -preSync:runCommand="powershell.exe -NoLogo -NoProfile -NonInteractive -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command C:/MyInstallPath/deploy.ps1 Set-WebAppOffline Uninstall-Service ",waitInterval=60000 -usechecksum -source:dirPath="build/for-deployment" -dest:wmsvc=BLUEPRINT-X86,username=deployer,password=deployer,dirPath=C:/MyInstallPath I used a hack here (http://therightstuff.de/2010/02/06/How-We-Practice-Continuous-Integration-And-Deployment-With-MSDeploy.aspx) that gets the powershell process and kills it but that didn't work. I also tried taskkill and the sysinternals equivalent, but nothing will kill the process so that MSDeploy errors out. The command is executed, but then just sits there. Any ideas what might be causing powershell to hang like this? I have found a few other similar issues around the web but no answers.

• SQLCLR using the wrong version of the .NET Framework

  During a recent restart of our development server the SQL Server started using .NET 4.0 for the SQLCLR. This means that nothing using the CLR in SQL works, or at least that's my understanding by reading these sources: http://software.intel.com/en-us/blogs/2009/10/16/sql-server-2008-sqlclr-net-framework-version/ www.sqlskills.com/BLOGS/BOBB/post/On-SQL-Server-and-NET-40.aspx All we get are error messages of this type: Msg 6517, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Failed to create AppDomain "xxx.dbo[ddl].3". Method's type signature is not Interop compatible. Does anyone know how to solve this or how we can force SQL Server CLR to use an earlier version of the Framework?

  Hi, I have inherited a web project that is perl based and I'm attempting to set up a local testing server so changes can be made internally to the project. The server architecture Ubuntu 9.10 php 5.2.10 mysql 5.1.37 perl 5.10.0-24ubuntu4 All the dependent modules and packages are installed such as DateTime.pm, TemplateToolkit.pm but running the application throws the following error message: Can't locate object method "new" via package "Template" (perhaps you forgot to load "Template"?) at ../lib//KPS/TemplateToolkit.pm line 51 The code block that this refers to is: sub new { return Template->new( INCLUDE_PATH => $KPS::Config::templatepath, ABSOLUTE => 1, DEBUG => 1, ); } If anybody is able to shed any light on this or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.   We have deployed a java webapplication in Elastic Beanstalk with the minimum instance count 1 and max instance count 2 for Autoscaling. The custom AMI we are using is c1.medium with Sun JDK 6. The environment status changed to yellow and then red. After checking into the log file from the snapshot logs we found a exception - Caused by: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space. Assuming this could be one of the possible reason for the Environment failure. The settings that we have configured in the Environment Container option are Initial JVM Heap Size (MB) - 256M Maximum JVM Heap Size (MB) - 512m The maximum heap size the java virtual machine will ever consume, specified on the JVM launch command line using -Xmx. Maximum JVM Permanent Generation Size (MB) - 512m Should i increase the Heap size from 512m to more or is it fine.

• undefined BIO_new_socket function in OpenSSL library

  Hi, I get the following problem with some openssl (yeah, I know it's poorly documented, but I wish to use it any way) code in a project of mine (written in c, on osx and tested in ubuntu): Undefined symbols: "_BIO_new_socket", referenced from: _main in ccG3cvyw.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status I did have SSL library problems aswel, because I forgot to link my program to the openssl libraries. The above undefined still stands though. My compile line is: gcc -o test_app test_app.c -lssl Versions I use: (GCC) 4.2.1 OpenSSL 0.9.8l 5 Nov 2009 I'm fairly certain it's a (linked) library issue, as the SSL function SSL_set_bio() works (as in does not produce a build error). The problem is that when I have one message, I get an error thrown at me: undefined methodeach'` How do I force rails to always return an array of messages even if there's only one message so that each always works? Tried this by hand and in editor this is what it kicks back. Msg 8152, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated. Please include a sql statement or where I need to make the edit so I can mark this post as a reference in my favorites. Thanks!

• ctypes and PySide

  I'm building an app with PySide, there's some image manipulation that needs to be done and using Python code for this is way too slow. Therefore I hacked out a .dll file that will do it for me. The function definition is as follows: extern "C" { QRectF get_image_slant(QImage *img, float slantangle, float offset) { Now I can load this function in via ctypes. But I can't seem to get ctypes to accept a QImage. I tried calling it like this: ext.get_image_slant(QImage(), 0, 0) And the reply I get is: File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> ctypes.ArgumentError: argument 1: <type 'exceptions.TypeError'>: Don't know how to convert parameter 1 I tired casting the QImage to a c_void_p and it doesn't like that either. From what I can tell QImage() in python should map exactly to a QImage * in C, but Python doesn't seem to understand that.. Is there any way to force the casting?

• Regex to match the first file in a rar archive file set in Python

  I need to uncompress all the files in a directory and for this I need to find the first file in the set. I'm currently doing this using a bunch of if statements and loops. Can i do this this using regex? Here's a list of files that i need to match: yes.rar yes.part1.rar yes.part01.rar yes.part001.rar yes.r01 yes.r001 These should NOT be matched: no.part2.rar no.part02.rar no.part002.rar no.part011.rar no.r002 no.r02 I found a similar regex on this thread but it seems that Python doesn't support varible length lookarounds. A single line regex would be complicated but I'll document it well and it's not a problem. It's just one of those problems you beat your heap up, over. Thanks in advance guys. :)
