    Recently I've switched from ubuntu 32bit to 64bit version. And now I experiencing some problems. All application take twice more memory. And some application takes even more.   • Encrypted WiFi with no password?

    Is there any standard that allows a WiFi connection to be encrypted, but not require a password? i know that (old, weak) WEP, and newer WPA/WPA2 require a password (i.e. shared secret). Meanwhile my own wireless connections are "open", and therefore unencrypted. There is no technical reason why i can't have an encrypted link that doesn't require the user to enter any password. Such technology exists today (see public key encryption and HTTPS). But does such a standard exist for WiFi? Note: i only want to protect communications, not limit internet access. i get the sense that no such standard exists (since i'm pretty capable with Google), but i'd like it confirmed. Claraification: i want to protect communcations, not limit internet access. That means users are not required to have a password (or its moral equivalent). This means users are not required: to know a password to know a passphrase to enter a CAPTCHA to draw a secret to have a key fob to know a PIN to use a pre-shared key have a pre-shared file to possess a certificate In other words: it has the same accessibility as before, but is now encrypted.

  • Chrome Open in New Tab/Window Menu Items

    The problem is, both Firefox and Internet Explorer have "Open in New Tab" as the second option. This has become muscle memory for me by now, to the point that I don't use as often as I want to, solely because I can't open a page in a new tab without thinking about it. Is there a way to switch the position of "Open Link in new tab" and "Open link in new window", so that I can resume browsing as normal, or am I cursed by this user interface design nightmare by Google?

  • Is there a plugin for photoshop that lets me write right to left text?

    I know there is a ME version of Photoshop, but I've seen a lot of plugins that do Arabic text on regular Photoshop (which include right to left text). What I'm looking for is just the right to left thing, without all the Arabic support. Is there any out there? Basically, typing typing "HELLO" should yield "OLLEH" exactly. Individual characters should not be reversed.

    Hi, I've asked here a question about Task Killers and widgets stop working (SO Question) but now, I have reports of user that they don't use any Task Killer and the widgets didn't work after a while. I have a Nexus One and I don't have this problem. I don't know if this is a problem of memory or something. Based on the API: A PendingIntent itself is simply a reference to a token maintained by the system describing the original data used to retrieve it. This means that, even if its owning application's process is killed, the PendingIntent itself will remain usable from other processes that have been given it. So, I don't know why widget stop working, if Android doesn't kill the PendingIntent by itself, what's the problem?   • RemoteViewsService never gets called whenever we update app widget

    I am making one task widget application. This is a simple widget application which can be used to add new tasks by clicking on "+New Task". So ideally what I have done is, I've added a widget first, then when we click on "+New Task" a new activity opens up from where we can type in a new task and it should get updated in the ListView inside the home screen widget. Problem: Now whenever I add a new task, the ListView does not get updated. The data gets inside the database a new is created as well. My onUpdate(...) method gets called as well. There is a WidgetService.java which is a RemoteViewService that is being used to call the RemoteViewFactory but WidgetService.java gets called only when we create the widget, never after that. WidgetService.java never gets called again.   • How to show context menu when right-click released?

    I'm using Ubuntu 10.04. When I right-click, menu popup too quickly, and the first menu item is clicked. If I right-click in desktop, it create a new folder sometime. If I right-click in terminal, it open a new terminal sometime. ... Is there some way to delay context menu? Or how can I offset context menu a little bit pixels to the right-bottom direction? (like firefox) Or how can I config Gnome to popup menu when right-mouse released? (like windows xp)

  • Any learning/studying material for C/C++ that use game programming as learning context out there?

    As most of game programming is done - I read on this very site - in C/C++ I was wondering if there is any learning/studying material for C/C++ that would target specifically game programming. I am not looking for material about "developing games" or "software architecture for games", but rather for material that uses "game programming" as the CONTEXT for introducing and illustrating C/C++ features, idioms, programming techniques, etc... With a simile: think to the GOF book on design patterns. There, they used "developing a text-editor" as a context for introducing design patterns, but the book is most definitively not a book about "developing text-editors". Thanks in advance for your time and advice! PS: My background: I am a programmer with a solid experience in OO scripting languages and only some experience in C and Assembler (on AVR microcontrollers), so I am thinking to mid-to-advanced level material, rather than tutorials for beginners, although it might be interesting to take a look to the latter ones if nothing else is available.

I know that obfuscators do not make your swf hack proof, but they make things harder. Things I am looking for in an obfuscator: Unlimited obfuscations No time limit No watermark (or on the left side only! Right side is no good, same with center) Able to publish work (no special player needed other than standard flashplayer) I really was surprised to see how hard it was to find a good obfuscator (tried encoder, protection, etc. instead as well) and how easy it is to find a decompiler.... It is imperative that my code be protected, at least partially, to discourage the hacking of my game.

    I am trying to profile my application. For this I compiled my code with -pg and -lc_p option, it compiled successfully During run time I am getting the following error. in free(): error: junk pointer, too high to make sense Segmentation fault: 11 (core dumped) Doing GDB gives error as. Am I missing something.
