  • How do game trainers change a address in memory thats dynamic?

    Lets assume i am a game and i have a global int* that contains my health. A game trainers job is to modify this value to whatever in order to achieve god mode. I've looked up tutorials on game trainers to understand how they work, and the general idea is to use a memory scanner to try and find the address of a certain value. Then modify this address by injecting a dll or whatever. But i made a simple program with a global int* and its address changes every time i run the app, so i don't get how game trainers can hard code these addresses? Or is my example wrong? What am i missing?

  • Formal name of Magento’s Class Override Design Pattern?

    Magento is a newish (past 5 years) PHP based Ecommerce system with an architecture that's similar to the Java Spring framework (or so I've been told) One of the features of the Framework is certain classes are not directly instantiated. Rather than do something like $model = new Mage_Foo_Model_Name(); you pass an identifier into a static method on a global application object $model = Mage::getModel('foo/name'); and this instantiates the class for you. One of the wins with this approach is getModel checks a global configuration system for the foo/name identifier, and instantiates the class name it finds in the configuration system. This allows you to change the behavior of a Model system wide with a single configuration change. Is there a formal, Gang of Four or otherwise, name that describes this system/design pattern? The instantiation itself looks like a classic Factory pattern, but I'm specifically interested in the whole "override a class in the system via configuration" aspect. Is there a name/concept that covers this, or is it contained within the worldview of a Factory?

  • Objective C: Can't find .js file in my mainBundle?!

    This is driving me crazy as I cannot figure out what in the world is going on. I load up files form you main bundle all the time, xml files, html files, etc. But, now I am trying to get the contents of a javascript file but it can never find it. I am using: NSData *jsData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"global" ofType:@"js"]]; if (jsData) { NSLog(@"%@", jsData); } else { NSLog(@"Can't find file"); return; } Even checking the [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"global" ofType:@"js"] string returns null. My activity.js file is in my Resources folder, the exact location where my other files are location that work totally fine using the above method. Why can't it find my js file?

    I have a collection of span elements. In the code I have a global variable that represents the "selected" object. Using the click event when a span is clicked I reset the object's class, reset the global variable, then set the object to the variable and change its class (to make it "highlighted"). This effectively toggles selection when clicking an object. var currentItem = null; $( ".item" ).click( function() { if( $( this ).hasClass( "selected" ) ) { $( this ).removeClass( "selected" ) currentItem = null; } else { if( $( ".item" ).hasClass( "selected" ) ){ $( ".item" ).removeClass( "selected" ) } $( this ).addClass( "selected" ); currentItem = $( this ); } } ); What I'd like to be able to do is unselect when clicking on an empty area of the page. I tried creating a click event on the body object, but that overrode the span click event so nothing was selected. I'm a complete jQuery noob and not sure where to go with this.

It implemented like this: Thread locks mutex, Call lua_newthread Perform some initialization on coroutine Run lua_resume on coroutine Unlocks mutex lua_lock/unlock is not implemented, GC is stopped, when lua works with coroutine. My question is, can I perform steps 2 and 3 without locking, if initialisation process does not requires any global Lua structs? Can i perform all this process without locking at all, if coroutine does not requires globals too? In what case I generally can use Lua functions without locking?

  • Is it OK to put a standard, pure C header #include directive inside a namespace?

    I've got a project with a class log in the global namespace (::log). So, naturally, after #include <cmath>, the compiler gives an error message each time I try to instantiate an object of my log class, because <cmath> pollutes the global namespace with lots of three-letter methods, one of them being the logarithm function log(). So there are three possible solutions, each having their unique ugly side-effects. Move the log class to it's own namespace and always access it with it's fully qualified name. I really want to avoid this because the logger should be as convenient as possible to use. Write a mathwrapper.cpp file which is the only file in the project that includes <cmath>, and makes all the required <cmath> functions available through wrappers in a namespace math. I don't want to use this approach because I have to write a wrapper for every single required math function, and it would add additional call penalty (cancelled out partially by the -flto compiler flag) The solution I'm currently considering: Replace #include <cmath> by namespace math { #include "math.h" } and then calculating the logarithm function via math::log(). I have tried it out and it does, indeed, compile, link and run as expected. It does, however, have multiple downsides: It's (obviously) impossible to use <cmath>, because the <cmath> code accesses the functions by their fully qualified names, and it's deprecated to use in C++. I've got a really, really bad feeling about it, like I'm gonna get attacked and eaten alive by raptors. So my question is: Is there any recommendation/convention/etc that forbid putting include directives in namespaces? Could anything go wrong with diferent C standard library implementations (I use glibc), different compilers (I use g++ 4.7, -std=c++11), linking? Have you ever tried doing this? Are there any alternate ways to banish the math functions from the global namespace? I've found several similar questions on stackoverflow, but most were about including other C++ headers, which obviously is a bad idea, and those that weren't made contradictory statements about linking behaviour for C libraries. Also, would it be beneficial to additionally put the #include <math.h> inside extern "C" {}?

    I am trying to incarnate some sort of ad hoc WCF service. I already managed to launch it and make it call its own web methods as some other guy's methods. The issue that I am facing is instance management. I have set [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.Single)] so it now has a global instance with the same properties for all clients. But besides that I need it to call other services of its kind while listening to incoming requests from clients (similar crazy services). While debugging I noticed that the ServiceHost's constructor calls the constructor of the service class. So, I assumed it has access to the global instance of this class and I need to find a way to call methods of this instance. Please don't ask what I have been smoking, I just have to make it ad hoc.

    Honestly, I couldnt think of a better title for this issue because I am having 2 problems and I don't know the cause. The first problem I have is this //global declaration float g_posX = 0.0f; ............. //if keydown happens g_posX += 0.03f; &m_mtxView._41 = g_posX; I get this error cannot convert from 'float' to 'float *' So I assume that the matrix only accepts pointers. So i change the varible to this.... //global declaration float *g_posX = 0.0f; ............. //if keydown happens g_posX += 0.03f; &m_mtxView._41 = &g_posX; and I get this error cannot convert from 'float' to 'float *' which is pretty much saying that I can not declare g_posX as a pointer. honestly, I don't know what to do.

    This is my emacs file http://pastie.org/1003551. I want the theme to change when I am in shell-mode. But what happens is that the theme gets applied on all the frames. I set the variable color-theme-is-global to nil, but still the same problem is persisting. (add-hook 'shell-mode-hook 'color-theme-monokai-terminal) (set-variable 'color-theme-is-global nil) These are lines 81 and 83 in my .emacs file. What should I do to make it work?

    I'm trying to get the hang of using custom session handlers to store session data in a MySQL database. However, I keep getting the following warning: mysql_close(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource Here's the code I'm using, which I got from here: function _open(){ global $_sess_db; $_sess_db = mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "******"); if ($_sess_db) { return mysql_select_db('style', $_sess_db); } return false; } function _close(){ global $_sess_db; return mysql_close($_sess_db); //error happens here } The full text of the error message ultimately points to the final "return mysql_close($_sess_db);" line. I can confirm that the mysql_connect info does in fact work, and I do have the rest of the session handler functions defined as well. And in case it helps, I get these errors immediately upon page load, without actually calling any of the session handler functions, and without having any current sessions open.

  • Need help making an ODBC MySQL Connection

    Short Version: How do I connect from PowerShell to an ODBC 5.1 MySQL Driver? I can't seem to find any connection strings that accurately have a "Provider" field for this particular instance. (See bottom of this question for examples/errors) ===== Long Version: I'm not a server guy, and I've been handed the task of setting up PowerGadgets on our network. I have a MySQL server running on a Linux box, that is configured for remote access and has a user defined for remote access as well. On my windows desktop PC, I have PowerGadgets installed. I installed the MySQL ODBC 5.1 connector, and went to Control Panel Data Sources and set up a User DSN connection to the database. The connection, user, and pass seem to be correct because it lists the tables of the database in my windows control panel. Where I'm running into trouble is in 3 places in PowerGadgets: When selecting a data source, I can select "SQL Server". Inputting the servers IP address does not work and I can't get this option to work at all. When selecting a data source, I can select "OleDB". This screen has a wizard on it, that appears to populate all the correct information (including database table names!) for me. "Test Connection" runs great. But if I try to complete the wizard, I get the error "The .NET Framework data provider for OLEDB does not support the MS Ole DB provider for ODBC Drivers." When selecting a data source, I can select "ODBC". This screen does not have a wizard and I cannot figure out a "connection string" that works. Typically it will respond with the error "The field 'Provider' is missing". Googling ODBC connection strings doesn't reveal any examples with a "provider" field and have no idea what to put in here. The connection string (for #2) above contains "SQLOLEDB" as a provider, and upon inputting that value into this connection string I get the same connection error that #2 gets. I believe I can solve my problems by figuring out a connection string for #3 but don't know where to get started. (PowerGadgets also allows for PowerShell support but I believe I will run into the same problem there) == Here's my current PowerShell connection that doesn't work: invoke-sql -connection "Driver={MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver};Initial Catalog=hq_live;Data Source=HQDB" -sql "Select * FROM accounts" Spits back the error: "Invoke-Sql : An OLE DB Provider was not specified in the ConnectionString. I can communicate with the subnets on either site from the other and both are connected to the internet, however I need to ensure that all the traffic at my remote site goes through this VPN to my site here. I know that the web traffic is doing so as a "tracert" confirms this, but I need to ensure that all other network traffic is being directed over this VPN to my network here. I am able to contact the puppet master and send a CSR. I sign it using puppetca -sa but the client will still not connect. I would like to run this over a few days, but want to minimize the amount of information that is returned in the trace, could anyone please advise me on what the minimal settings for Profiler are for this.
