  • Fluent NHibermate and Polymorphism and a Newbie!

    I'm a fluent nhibernate newbie and I'm struggling mapping a hierarchy of polymorhophic objects. I've produced the following Model that recreates the essence of what I'm doing in my real application. I have a ProductList and several specialised type of products; public class MyProductList { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name {get;set;} public virtual IList<Product> Products { get; set; } public MyProductList() { Products = new List<Product>(); } } public class Product { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual string ProductDescription {get;set;} } public class SizedProduct : Product { public virtual decimal Size {get;set;} } public class BundleProduct : Product { public virtual Product BundleItem1 {get;set;} public virtual Product BundleItem2 {get;set;} } Note that I have a specialised type of Product called BundleProduct that has two products attached. I can add any of the specialised types of product to MyProductList and a bundle Product can be made up of any of the specialised types of product too. Here is the fluent nhibernate mapping that I'm using; public class MyListMap : ClassMap<MyList> { public MyListMap() { Id(ml => ml.Id); Map(ml => ml.Name); HasManyToMany(ml => ml.Products).Cascade.All(); } } public class ProductMap : ClassMap<Product> { public ProductMap() { Id(prod => prod.Id); Map(prod => prod.ProductDescription); } } public class SizedProductMap : SubclassMap<SizedProduct> { public SizedProductMap() { Map(sp => sp.Size); } } public class BundleProductMap : SubclassMap<BundleProduct> { public BundleProductMap() { References(bp => bp.BundleItem1).Cascade.All(); References(bp => bp.BundleItem2).Cascade.All(); } } I haven't configured have any reverse mappings, so a product doesn't know which Lists it belongs to or which bundles it is part of. Next I add some products to my list; MyList ml = new MyList() { Name = "Example" }; ml.Products.Add(new Product() { ProductDescription = "PSU" }); ml.Products.Add(new SizedProduct() { ProductDescription = "Extension Cable", Size = 2.0M }); ml.Products.Add(new BundleProduct() { ProductDescription = "Fan & Cable", BundleItem1 = new Product() { ProductDescription = "Fan Power Cable" }, BundleItem2 = new SizedProduct() { ProductDescription = "80mm Fan", Size = 80M } }); When I persist my list to the database and reload it, the list itself contains the items I expect ie MyList[0] has a type of Product, MyList[1] has a type of SizedProduct, and MyList[2] has a type of BundleProduct - great! If I navigate to the BundleProduct, I'm not able to see the types of Product attached to the BundleItem1 or BundleItem2 instead they are always proxies to the Product - in this example BundleItem2 should be a SizedProduct. Is there anything I can do to resove this either in my model or the mapping? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Suggestions on how to map from Domain (ORM) objects to Data Transfer Objects (DTO)

    The current system that I am working on makes use of Castle Activerecord to provide ORM (Object Relational Mapping) between the Domain objects and the database. This is all well and good and at most times actually works well! The problem comes about with Castle Activerecords support for asynchronous execution, well, more specifically the SessionScope that manages the session that objects belong to. Long story short, bad stuff happens! We are therefore looking for a way to easily convert (think automagically) from the Domain objects (who know that a DB exists and care) to the DTO object (who know nothing about the DB and care not for sessions, mapping attributes or all thing ORM). Does anyone have suggestions on doing this. For the start I am looking for a basic One to One mapping of object. Domain object Person will be mapped to say PersonDTO. I do not want to do this manually since it is a waste. Obviously reflection comes to mind, but I am hoping with some of the better IT knowledge floating around this site that "cooler" will be suggested. Oh, I am working in C#, the ORM objects as said before a mapped with Castle ActiveRecord. Example code: By @ajmastrean's request I have linked to an example that I have (badly) mocked together. The example has a capture form, capture form controller, domain objects, activerecord repository and an async helper. It is slightly big (3MB) because I included the ActiveRecored dll's needed to get it running. You will need to create a database called ActiveRecordAsync on your local machine or just change the .config file. Basic details of example: The Capture Form The capture form has a reference to the contoller private CompanyCaptureController MyController { get; set; } On initialise of the form it calls MyController.Load() private void InitForm () { MyController = new CompanyCaptureController(this); MyController.Load(); } This will return back to a method called LoadComplete() public void LoadCompleted (Company loadCompany) { _context.Post(delegate { CurrentItem = loadCompany; bindingSource.DataSource = CurrentItem; bindingSource.ResetCurrentItem(); //TOTO: This line will thow the exception since the session scope used to fetch loadCompany is now gone. grdEmployees.DataSource = loadCompany.Employees; }, null); } } this is where the "bad stuff" occurs, since we are using the child list of Company that is set as Lazy load. The Controller The controller has a Load method that was called from the form, it then calls the Asyc helper to asynchronously call the LoadCompany method and then return to the Capture form's LoadComplete method. public void Load () { new AsyncListLoad<Company>().BeginLoad(LoadCompany, Form.LoadCompleted); } The LoadCompany() method simply makes use of the Repository to find a know company. public Company LoadCompany() { return ActiveRecordRepository<Company>.Find(Setup.company.Identifier); } The rest of the example is rather generic, it has two domain classes which inherit from a base class, a setup file to instert some data and the repository to provide the ActiveRecordMediator abilities.

To handle this, i have done this foreach(....) { .... .... try { _teamsTableAdapter.Insert(_teamid, _teamname); } catch (System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException e) { if (e.Number != 2627) MessageBox.Show(e.Message); } .... .... } But using try catch statement is costly, how to avoid this exception. I am working in VS2010 and INSERT ... ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE does not work.

The issue I have is that Foreign Key fields and those using initial take all associated entries (all records associated with that record other then the one entry i wanted e.g instead of getting a primary key, i get the primary key, post subject, post body and all other values attributed with that record). The form and the other associated queries still work well, but this behaviour is clogging my database. How do i get the specific field i want instead of all records. An example of my models is here: A form field for childParentId returns postID, postSubject and postBody instead of postID alone.   • How to Redirect Visual Studio F12 Shortcut Key to Object Browser in C# Project

    For C# projects, I would like to have the F12 "Go to Definition" shortcut key to open the Object Browser and select the type under the cursor position. This is the behavior for VB.NET projects, which I really like. I think the Object Browser is more helpful than IntelliSense in some cases. I really do not need a text representation of the metadata. How do I duplicate the F12 / "Go to Definition" functionality in a C# project? Is there a different shortcut key for C#? I am not talking about the Alt+Ctrl+J shortcut key that displays the Object Browser.

    I have created a setup and deployment project in Visual Studio 2008 Professional. I'm using Visual C++, and in it I have two exe files which run under custom actions. One is running in commit and other in uninstall. Purpose is to add a registry key at install time and remove it at uninstall. It works perfectly on Windows XP but when I change to Windows 7 and run the setup, only the key-adding part works. The key doesn't get deleted at uninstall. But when I take the uninstall exe file out from the setup and run it separately on Windows 7, (not through the setup, by just double-clicking on the exe) it removes the registry entry perfectly. Any idea what the problem is?

  • Override default behavior of SPACE key in .net WinForms ListView

    Hello, I'd like to implement some custom behavior of Space key in a ListView. Basically I'd like to toggle selected status of the item under cursor - that should be fairly simple this.FocusedItem.Selected = !this.FocusedItem.Selected; but alas, it also does the default action, which is to select the focused item. This way I am unable to 'unselect' the focused item. I've looked for similar problems and they suggest using PreviewKeyDown event, in which I would process the key and disallow the ListView to do its default action. But the PreviewKeyDown event argument has no "handled" property, so I cannot 'eat' this key.

  • How do I trap the ENTER key in WM 6.1 using C++

    Hi,Our barcode scanner application is written in C++ eMbedded V 4.00 and works well on the Motorola MC50 WM5 where the ENTER key is interpreted as an IDOK. We are moving the app to the MC55 with WM6.1 and the ENTER key does not translate to an IDOK. I'm of the impression we will have to programatically trap the key entry (or the value passed on via DataWedge). I have made several attempts to implement either a HOTKEY or something via an Accelerator Table but have been unable to interpret the Microsoft on-line descriptions. If there is a simpler answer that would be good news. If not, a more specific example than the MS samples would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I want to make stored procedure UPDATE_ID_WORKER, where I would like to change the value of specific ID in WORKER, and also in all instances of specific value of ID in FIRM. stored procedure: ........ @id .. ???? ........   • How to capture any key in X?

    Hi, I am building an application for which I need to periodically get information about users keyboard. It is going to be user idle detection application. I have a fairly simple solution to periodically check if the mouse has been moved. But I can't figure any reasonable non root way to detect if the keyboard has been pressed. I was thinking about registering a hook every timer timeout and on any key press to unregister it. So if there is no key press for a long time then my program will know if the user is idle. Anyway, I couldn't find any global hooks for any key, including modifiers. Is there an easy way to do this? Or would someone have a better way to detect keyboard idleness? Thanks, David Polák

    I have 6000 data of district, subdistrict. I need to represent this on dependent dropdown. The datamodel is for example; class Location(db.Model): location_name = db.StringProperty() location_parent = db.IntegerProperty() location_parent is reference to key() or id()? Still cannot decide which one is good. When i use key() as reference then using JSON to create jquery dependent drop down. My page loading/query and rendering time the dropdown is quite slow? Can i use key().id() as drop down option value to lighten up the page load? Any better solution for this parent/child reference for the drop down? For example: for the district record/entities the location-parent is null, for sub district record location_name will contain reference to parent district record. Other issue is to reverse geocoding the location to store or display geoPoint (lat,long)? Is google MAP API always find the exact lat,long of specific region boundaries or any error checking for the result?

    Hello there. I have a simple C# application that allows users to specify that it should be (or should not be) started with Windows; it does so by setting (or deleting) a registry key (namely, ...\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Run\MyApplicationHere). I am using a VS setup project to create the installer for this program. I don't want the installer to create this key; it should only be created when the user selects the option from within the program. Here is the issue: I would like the uninstaller to delete this key if it exists, preferably without resorting to any sort of hackery; if there is a simple "built-in" solution I would love to hear it.     Hi all, I am using memcache in my php application. I am trying to implement redundancy by setting memcache.redundancy = 3 in memcache.ini. When i initially set a key the value of flag is 0 (using telnet). But when I replace the value of the key the flag changes to 768. Do you have any idea why is this happening and how to keep the key flag 0. I am using memcache-3.0.4 on ubuntu and php 5.2.4. Thanks

I want to develop an authentication scheme which is based on biometrics, Every human being have a unique key-hold time,digraph time error rate. Key-Hold Time : Time difference between pressing and releasing a key . Digraph Time : Time difference between releasing one and pressing next one. Error Rate : No of times backspace is pressed. I got these metrics from a paper "Keystroke-based User Identification on Smart Phones" by Saira Zahid1, Muhammad Shahzad1, Syed Ali Khayam1,2, Muddassar Farooq1. I was planning to get the datasets to test my algorithm from openmoko phone, but the phone is mis-behaving and I am finding trouble in generating these time data-sets.     I am updating an application to Rails 3 and I am having trouble creating a custom foreign key. I have something like this: class Product < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :owner, :class_name => 'User' ... end class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :products ... end class ProductsController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate_user! def index @products = current_user.products end end The view: <%- @products.each do |p| -%> <%= p.created_at %><br /> <%- end -%> I get this error in my Rails log: Mysql::Error: Unknown column 'products.user_id' in 'where clause': SELECT `products`.* FROM `products` WHERE (`products`.user_id = 1) It should see the belongs_to :owner and look for a foreign key called owner_id. I even tried explicitly setting the foreign key and that does not work. I also checked lighthouse for a possible Rails 3 bug but no luck.

    I have a multi-row insert that looks something like: insert into table VALUES (1, 2, 3), (4, 5, 6), (7, 8, 9); Assume the first attribute (1, 4, 7) is a foreign key to another table and assume that this referenced table does not have the value '4'. A MySQLExeption is thrown with error code 1452. EXCEPTION: Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (dbName/tableName, CONSTRAINT id FOREIGN KEY (customer_id) REFERENCES referencedTable (customer_id)) Is there a way to identify which value caused the error? I would love to give my user an error message that said something like: Error: '4' does not exist in the referenced table. I am using the .NET mysql connector to execute the insert. Thanks- Jonathan

  • Binding key/value pairs loaded from xml

    I want to load key/values configuration pairs stored in XML file. To bind a collection of data i know i need to use the ArrayList class, but the problem is that i want to be able to bind the loaded values using their corresponding keys and not by their indexes in the ArrayList object. For example i want to be able to do this : <mx:Text id="errorText" text="{Config.params['someKey']}" /> instead of : <mx:Text id="errorText" text="{Config.params[0]}" /> where Config.params is ArrayList (obviously i couldn't use ArrayList since it doesn't allow selecting a value by key) So the question is how to bind the key/value pairs loaded form XML. I don't want to go manually set variables, i want to bind them so when they are loaded the are set automatically. Did anyone had to do something like that ?

I need to query based on a list of keys for which I'll use the IN operator. I know that the max. number of values you can provide for the IN clause is 30. I have 2 questions: Does the limit of 30 IN values apply to the key property as well? Do I need to create a composite index on {_key_ + category} or just on {category} for this query? Thanks, Keyur

    I working with the latest draft of the twitter annotations api. An example bit of data looks like status { annotations : [ {myAnnotationType:{myKey:myValue}}, {someoneElsesAnnotationType:{theirKey:theirValue}}, ] } now i want to check a status to see if it has an annotation with myAnnotationType in it. If annotations was a hash instead of an array I could just write var ann = status.annotations.myAnnotationType. But its not so I wrote this instead: function getKeys(obj){ var keys = []; for (key in obj) { if (obj.hasOwnProperty(key)) { keys[keys.length] = key; } } return keys; } function getAnnotation(status, type){ for(var i=0;i<status.annotations.length;i++){ var keys = getKeys(status.annotations[i]); for(var j=0;j<keys.length;j++){ if(keys[j] == type){ return status.annotations[i]; } } } } var ann = getAnnotation(status, "myAnnotationType"); There must be a better way! Is there? PS I can't use jquery or anything as this is js to be used in a caja widget and the container doesn't support external libs
