• How do I export charts from Excel as graphics

  I've got a series of Excel spreadsheets, each with at least one page of data and one page of a chart created from the data. I need to capture ( not regenerate from the data ) the existing chart as a web friendly image. Is this possible via Java or .Net? I know the POI stuff (Java) won't do it (or so I'm told, haven't tried it myself).

  So I don't consider myself a novice at MySQL but this one has me stumped: I have a message board and I want to pull a list of all the most recent posts grouped by the Thread ID. Here's the table: MB_Posts -ID -Thread_ID -Created_On (timestamp) -Creator_User (user_id) -Subject -Contents -Edited (timestamp) -Reported I've tried many different things to keep it simple but I would like help from the community on this one. I can't seem to find the print_any command that was littered all over the place in the old books and samples. I have installed powerpack but can't find it there either. • Is there an easy way to change iPhone Application Settings from within an application?

  I've got application settings working just fine. However, I'd like to be able to change my app settings from within my app. It seems as though there should be some kind of generic way to add this functionality to my app without having to recreate all the controls myself. I mean, the code is already written in apple's settings app. Maybe someone wrote this code and open sourced it? (if it is not already available)

• Restricting Edit and Delete in Ruby on Rails

  I want to be able to edit and delete resources myself, but not allow users of the application to do so. Is there an easy way of doing this in Rails? An incomplete solution would be just to remove the "delete" and "edit" buttons from the index view, but that doesn't disable their ability to do so via direct HTTP requests. I am not sure which settings and policies have been configured for the TFS (this is done by a separate dept, not developers) Every time I make an edit to a code file , the file is checked out automatically (without explicitly checking out the code file myself) Please help me locate this setting or policy because it is not very useful at the moment.   Resolving an xpath that includes namepsaces in Java appears to require the use of a NamespaceContext object, mapping prefixes to namespace urls and vice versa. But I can find no mechanism for getting a NamespaceContext other than implementing it myself. This seems counter-intuitive. Is there any easy way to acquire a NamespaceContext from a document, or to create one, or failing that, to forgo prefixes altogether and specify the xpath with fully qualified names?

  I have a string like this: "foo=bar&bar=foo&hello=hi" Does Ruby on Rails provide methods to parse this as if it is a querystring, so I get a hash like this: { :foo => "bar", :bar => "foo", :hello => "hi" } Or must I write it myself? EDIT Please note that the string above is not a real querystring from a URL, but rather a string stored in a cookie from Facebook Connect.

• Objects With No Behavior

  I've been teaching myself object oriented programming and I'm thinking about a situation where I have an object "Transaction", that has quite a few properties to it like account, amount, date, currency, type, etc. I never plan to mutate these data points, and calculation logic will live in other classes. My question is, is it poor Python design to instantiate thousands of objects just to hold data? I find the data far easier to work with embedded in a class rather than trying to cram it into some combination of data structures.

• Eclipse Package Explorer Zoom?

  Configuring Eclipse to look exactly how you want is a tough job I've found, therefore I'm not going to attempt to do this myself. I'd like to 'zoom out' of the Package Explorer side bar? You see, I like only having my code on the screen with a small section for the files in the project - however I can never see the full path of the file or package I'm currently in because of this. Is there a way to keep the 'main screen' normal, but zoom out of the Package Explorer by about 50%?

  I'd like to know if there is a way to figure out if a key does something in vim. I know that I can use :map to see user-defined mappings, but is there something for the built-in stuff? For example, I always had CTRL-W bound to close tab, because I thought that it was unused. After half a year, I found out that there are some sequences that use it, like CTRL-W CTRL-S to split the window, and it was a nightmare to retrain myself.
