  • ATI catalyst and additional drivers have vanishe d after update (8/9/2012)

    ok, I have my ATI Radeon 2400XT working properly for longtime on ubuntus (8.04 - 12.04) and recently when I was trying to update (it installs kernal 3.2.0-31 during that update) every think related to ATI including property drivers (that can be activated from additional drivers) are vanished so AMD catalyst control center is not working (it says no amd graphics card is installed) and when opening [additional drivers] it loads and then a box is appear saying (Downloading package indexes failed, please check your network status. Most drivers will not be available.) after searching for additional drivers the window appear saying (no property driver are used on this system). I don't know what happened really! I don't know how to fix this problem either. help!!

    The system works and its called Microsoft Connect , who would of thought it :) Following on from my previous blog post MicroSoft – Follow best practices, on the connect item , the followup stated that changes had been made in 2008.  I genuinely thought that a change would take an age to trickle through to the customer. But after firing up 2008R2 RTM and examining the SqlAgent traffic with profiler , where before i would see non-parameterized sql, I now see RPC calls.    Excellent , i get my cache back.

    I have been through most of the duplicates for this question, and still can't find an answer. I may have missed one but hopefully this isn't a duplicate! Having a problem with updates. I get the "failed to download..."message followed by "Check your internet connection", which is clearing working fine as I am on it now.     Well, I've made a fresh Ubuntu 11.10 install and I installed openJDK 7. It updated alternatives just after installing, so it was all good. Then, I compiled a source and executed it and it didn't worked, then I noticed that java was using the version 1.6, while the javac was 1.7. I thought I had installed it wrong, so I uninstalled it and installed it again. But now, it does not update alternatives automatically (it does it only for javaws). Is there a way to "restart" it so the apt-get does the update-alternatives by itself like the first time? Is it normal that it uses the java 1.6 instead of the java 1.7 when installing openJDK 7?     im developing a game which has different levels and i need to store all levels and its elements (position, image, sounds,..) into a file/database. The levels will be updated so i need a function that checks online for a update and downloads a database dump and additional files. I was planing to store all the persistent data into a SQLLite database, but not quite sure how to do the update part - to pack the database dump and the files together (in a .zip or with a xml).     The web master at my corporation added SSL to the web site and now none of my users can download Microsoft word and xcel files the sites generates. According to Microsoft the following must be down. Web sites that want to allow this type of operation should remove the no-cache header or headers. Typical of MS they don't tell you what to do, how to do it, or what the best practice is. The web master says its a web config setting. But all i can finds is <configuration> <appSettings/> <connectionStrings/> <system.web> <httpRuntime sendCacheControlHeader="false"/> and I don't know if this is the best way to achieve the result. I would greatly appreciate some advice on this subject.
