  • PHP problem with getimagesize()

    - by RobHardgood
    I'm using the getimagesize() function in PHP and it keeps returning an error: getimagesize(image.php?name=username&pic=picture) [function.getimagesize]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory I'm not doing anything strange with it. The only problem I can imagine is that the path URL is another PHP script that returns a page with an image header, and there is an ampersand in that URL. Here is my code: $location = "image.php?name=username&pic=picture"; $size = getimagesize($location);

  • How to import php with javascript?

    - by dcp3450
    I know JavaScript is client side and PHP is server-side. I also know this is an odd question. However, the CMS editor I'm using will not allow php to be stored to the database (it's the same editor used by Dupral). I can store JavaScript though. Can I import a php file with JavaScript. Or rather read the php file, store the content in a variable then out put the content to the screen?

  • AES and CBC in PHP

    - by Kane
    I am trying to encrypt a string in php using AES-128 and CBC, but when I call mcrypt_generic_init() it returns false. $cipher = mcrypt_module_open(MCRYPT_RIJNDAEL_128, '',MCRYPT_MODE_CBC, ''); $iv_size = mcrypt_enc_get_iv_size($cipher); $iv = mcrypt_create_iv($iv_size, MCRYPT_RAND); $res = mcrypt_generic_init($cipher, 'aaaa', $iv); //'aaaa' is a test key Can someone tell me why is returning 0/false? I read the php documentation and seems correct (http://us.php.net/manual/en/mcrypt.examples.php)

  • Why PHP Error: Call to a member function set_prefix() on a non-object

    - by Rebol Tutorial
    I got this error Fatal error: Call to a member function set_prefix() on a non-object in /home/reboltutorial/reboltutorial.com/wp-settings.php on line 254 line 254 contains: $prefix = $wpdb->set_prefix($table_prefix); // set up global tables This occurs if I try to call index_wordpress() instead of calling these two lines define('WP_USE_THEMES', true); require('./wp-blog-header.php'); so this doesn't work: <?php function index_wordpress() { define('WP_USE_THEMES', true); require('./wp-blog-header.php'); } ?> <?php if(!function_exists('apache_request_headers')) { function apache_request_headers() { $headers = array(); foreach($_SERVER as $key => $value) { if(substr($key, 0, 5) == 'HTTP_') { $headers[str_replace(' ', '-', ucwords(str_replace('_', ' ', strtolower(substr($key, 5)))))] = $value; } } return $headers; } } function getCurrentPageUrl() { $pageURL = 'http'; if ($_SERVER["HTTPS"] == "on") {$pageURL .= "s";} $pageURL .= "://"; if ($_SERVER["SERVER_PORT"] != "80") { $pageURL .= $_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"].":".$_SERVER["SERVER_PORT"].$_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]; } else { $pageURL .= $_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"].$_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]; } return $pageURL; } $a = apache_request_headers(); $pos = strrpos($a["User-Agent"], "REBOL"); if ($pos === false) { index_wordpress(); } else { if ($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] != "69.163.203.14") { $command= './cgi-bin/index.cgi '.   • Get with the ajax data into a php file

    - by Max Torstensson
    I'm trying to build a login system with ajax and php. I use a log-view where I then save the data in ajax which brings into my doLogin.php (php file). My problem is that php file should never be any ajax data for when I build it into a class and a function VIEW: public function DoLoginBox() { //inloggning form-tagg... return '<p>&nbsp;</p> <div id="content"> <h1>Login Form</h1> <form id="form1" name="form1" action="Handler/doLogin.php" method="post"> <p> <label for="username">Username: </label> <input type="text" name="username" id="username" /> </p> <p> <label for="password">Password: </label> <input type="password" name="password" id="password" /> </p> <p> <input type="submit" id="login" name="login" /> </p> </form> <div id="message"></div> </div>'; } AJAX: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#login").click(function() { var action = $("#form1").attr('action'); var form_data = { username: $("#username").val(), password: $("#password").val(), is_ajax: 1 }; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: action, data: form_data, success: function(response) { if(response == 'success') $("#form1").slideUp('slow', function() { $("#message").html("<p class='success'>You have logged in successfully!</p>"); }); else $("#message").html("<p class='error'>Invalid username and/or password.</p>"); } }); return false; }); }); </script PHP: <?php require_once ("UserHandler.php"); class DoLogingHandler{ public function Login (){ $is_ajax = !empty($_REQUEST['is_ajax']); if(isset($is_ajax) && $is_ajax) { $username = $_REQUEST['username']; $password = $_REQUEST['password']; $UserHandler = new UserHandler(); $UserHandler -> controllDB($username,$password); if($username == 'demo' && $password == 'demo') { echo "success"; } } } } ` $DoLogingHandler = new DoLogingHandler(); $DoLogingHandler-Login(); ?

  • Initiatives to namespace PHP core and libraries

    - by James Maroney
    With the introduction of Object-Oriented and Namespacing capabilities in PHP, I am loving the new found cleanliness of PHP code that can be produced. The annoying thing though is that the core of PHP is still cluttered, unorganized mess of functions. Are there any initiatives to organize the PHP core and "common" libraries into namespaces and classes?

  • How would I get work as a PHP, MySQL Developer?

    - by Matthew
    I've been working with PHP and MySQL to create various projects that I've been interested in, I can design the user interface, and the back end programming. I've created simple social networking sites, book marking sites, and project management software. So what steps would I take to get a job? Is there a market for PHP, MySQL web developers? Is it possible to take instructions and work from home for someone? How would I accept payment? Should I start a company? or work for someone? I am currently based in South Africa, many of the companies are lacking the innovation that I'm seeking for in a company.

  • Is MVC now the only way to write PHP?

    - by JasonS
    Hey... its XMAS Eve and something is bugging me... yes, I have work on my mind even when I am on holiday. The vast amount of frameworks available for PHP now use MVC. Even ASP.net has its own MVC module. I can see the attraction of MVC, I really can and I use it frequently. The only downside that I can see is that you have to fire up the whole system to execute a page request. Depending on your task this can be a little wasteful. So the question. In a professional environment is this the only way to use PHP nowadays or are their other design methods which have alternative benefits?

  • How should I handle using two databases with a legacy PHP application?

    - by Toby Allen
    I have a legacy PHP application that was written in 2004 and uses MSSQL as a database backend. At this stage MSSQL is still supported by PHP but only just via a Microsoft driver. I have looked at converting to mysql via automated tools, which work quite well, but I have quite complex views which need a lot of individual work to convert. I don't have a great deal of time to do this. Many tools I wish to use and frameworks I would like to move the application to, don't support MSSQL, so I was considering adding new features using a new mysql database and wondered if anyone had opinions on the pros and cons of using two seperate database backends in a single application?

  • What steps/tools/apps are necessary to make local php development on a tablet viable?

    - by Tchalvak
    I do my php web development locally, as in, creating a local instance of a site and then coding it and then pushing code to servers via git/github. I'm considering getting an android tablet or ipad and a wireless keyboard for very mobile development, but I in no way want to go back to the bad old days of using ftp and syncing up code changes on a development server directly, that would be too much of a trade-off to interest me. Is there enough support for the stack to develop php websites locally on a tablet? Anyone had experience trying this sort of thing?

  • What Would You Consider Best Practice Workflow Tools For Web Application (PHP) Development?

    - by Zenph
    I'm really hoping somebody with more experience can edit the question as per my examples of answers: • using version control • test driven development • debugging code (xdebug for php) • use of UML diagrams • use of OOP for maintainable, reusable code • use of frameworks (like Zend Framework for php) for rapid application development Anything else or an elaboration of what I mentioned above? Basically, I'm in the middle of forming a team of developers (I'm a developer myself) and I'd like some advice on how professional programmers/designers etc should work together and what standards/paradigms they should use. Also, if anybody has any books or links on the subject I'd welcome that! I did find this which I guess satisfies what I'm looking for, or at least part thereof: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/library/techarticles/0306_perks/perks2.html

  • What are the benefits vs costs of comment annotation in PHP?

    - by Patrick
    I have just started working with symfony2 and have run across comment annotations. Although comment annotation is not an inherent part of PHP, symfony2 adds support for this feature. My understanding of commenting is that it should make the code more intelligible to the human. The computer shouldn't care what is in comments. What benefits come from doing this type of annotation versus just putting a command in the normal PHP code? ie- /** * @Route("/{id}") * @Method("GET") * @ParamConverter("post", class="SensioBlogBundle:Post") * @Template("SensioBlogBundle:Annot:post.html.twig", vars={"post"}) * @Cache(smaxage="15") */ public function showAction(Post $post) { }

  • Using static methods in objects PHP - is it advantage?

    - by RePRO
    I was reading some articles and discussions on the use of static methods on objects and it struck me how much the views differ. Someone say that using static methods is an advantage. Someone says that use is a big mistake. I wonder how is it? My question is when to use static methods and when not? I would like to hear answers from experts in this field (PHP OOP). This is because I know how it really is. The following code should be analogous. Just call the static method is simpler (my opinion): <?php class A { public function write($a) { echo $a; } } class B { public static function write($a) { echo $a; } } $a = new A; $a->write(5); // 5 B::write(5); // 5 ?> Thank you.

  • How do I install PHP 5.4.8 on a Win XP workstation?

    - by Cyberherbalist
    I am trying to create a MediaWiki site on my WinXP workstation, and need to install PHP 5.4.8. I have downloaded and unpacked the binaries for PHP, but the install instructions are telling me to "Run the MSI installer and follow the instructions provided by the installation wizard." Unfortunately there is no MSI file provided in the package! Am I missing something? Besides a clue, I mean. Edited to add: I will try to make this clear. I am not going to be able to work with Apache.

  • Where can I hire a trustworthy professional PHP programmer?

    - by JJ22
    I wrote a php application for my website that really needs to work well and be as secure as possible. I'm a novice php programmer, so while my application seems to work well, there may be inefficiencies or security vulnerabilities. I feel that I should have someone look over my code before making the application publicly available, but I'm hesitant to just post it online because it handles some rather sensitive things. Where can I find a competent, trustworthy, and relatively inexpensive php programmer who would be willing to review a few thousand lies of well-commented easy-to-read php code? Thank you!

  • Strange issue with Wordpress sites, is it PHP Memory?

    - by Drai
    This has happened to me twice with the same host and I want to know the real cause. I have multiple wordpress sites hosted on a shared server. One day when I attempt to visit any of the sites, the webpage simply downloads the index.php file. It happens on all wordpress sites but not on static sites hosted there. I understand this is a php issue on the server, but what could be happening specifically? the only thing I could find when searching is something to do with memory limits. Is this common? Should I be worried about this host?

  • Is the php method md5() secure? Can it be used for passwords? [migrated]

    - by awiebe
    So executing a php script causes the form values to be sent to the server, and then they are processed. If you want to store a password in your db than you want it to be a cryptographic hash(so your client side is secure, can you generate an md5 using php securely( without submitting the user:password pair in the clear), or is there an alternative standard method of doing this, without having the unecrypted pasword leaving the clients machine? Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm kind of new at this. I think this can be done somehow using https, and on that note if a site's login page does not use https, does that mean that while the databse storage is secure, the transportation is not?
